Pack for a Week in a Personal Item

Tired of paying for carry-on or "hand luggage?" I'll show you how to pack for a 7 day trip using only a small backpack that is considered by the airlines to be a "personal item." That means it has to fit under the seat in front of you. You'll have 7 days worth of clothes using compression bags, extra shoes, laptop and accessories all in a small backpack! It's mostly the discount airlines that now charge for carry-on luggage, and even though it's only $15-$25 per bag, that adds up! I frequently fly from Orlando to Asheville for a week, and I've saved hundreds of dollars packing this way.

My laptop is 15" and it's a tight fit, so the whole bag is probably 15 or 16 inches high. It's an Eastsport, and I bought it about 15 years ago in Boston. It's the best backpack I've ever had. Very durable.

Because that's where your feet go.
