What an interesting approach to packing! I have tried various methods for packing over the decades I've been travelling, including the 54321, the 333, and the packing list method. Here's my tip. I always pack a t-shirt dress, change of underwear and a pair of flip flops in my personal item, in case my suitcase gets lost or in case my flight is delayed overnight. I can use the dress as a nightie, a casual dress or a swim suit coverup. I can change into the dress when I reach my destination if I feel grubby from travelling or if I spill something on my travel clothes. I can wear the flip flops by the pool, at the beach or in a hotel room. One other item I pack in my personal item is a large scarf or pashmina, which I can wear as a scarf, as a shawl, as a pareo, or use as a blanket on the plane. I've been using separate zip lock bags to contain the clothing, shoes, and pashmina (the latter folds down so that it fits in a sandwich bag). And I always throw a plastic bag into my suitcase for laundry, to keep the dirty clothes separated from the clean one. I hope someone finds my tip useful in their travels.
Sounds like the perfect outfit juuuust in case your luggage doesn't make it. Going carry-on only is a great way to make sure your luggage doesn't get lost too.
I learned the hard way: Always carry a beige bra if you're wearing a black one for travel. If your bag gets lost or delayed, shopping for a different colored bra (or a bathing suit) is a pain. I always carry an extra change of clothes in my personal item bag, too.
This is a tip after my own heart. I'm doing carry on this year and I've been thinking along similar lines. I always keep an extra plastic bag or two in my carry-on too, to put any jackets or hats etc in those dirty bins at security.
I recently returned from a 3 week summer European trip, visiting 3 countries. I packed pajamas, 2 trousers (denim & beige), 3 colorful blouses, 3 t-shirts (white, black & green), 1 linen long sleeve shirt, 1 pair of black shorts, 1 pair black leggings, 1 black hoodie, 2 bras black & beige, 1 sports bra, 6 underwear, 6 socks, 4 silk scarves, 1 bathing suit, 1 necklace, 1 bracelet, 1 pair tennis shoes, 1 pair sandals. I was able to wash my clothes twice at 2 of the Airbnb’s we rented. I packed it all in a 20 inch suitcase and saved room for destination purchases. I purposefully packed lighter than usual because I carried on my luggage and walked to every hotel from the train. I also wore a 10 L backpack & a crossbody bag for plane & train rides.
That sounds well done! Don't you need to be able to put your crossbody inside the backpack on airplanes (or is that just for international)? One personal item only, and the airlines are starting to be very fussy. Thanks!
@@thatswhatisaidCA I was able to cover it up with my hoodie. But I was prepared to put it in my backpack. I flew from USA to Germany non stop flight and then home from Rome to San Francisco(1-stop in Canada) without having to remove it.
this helps me! Most packing videos are for a week. I will be in Europe November. IT's been raining there already for a week. I'll be there 20 days. IT's always a challenge to pack.
What a lot of clothes changes every day. One week away in Europe a couple of weeks ago- 2 trousers, 1 skirt, 1 dress, 1 cardigan, 2 jackets, raincoat, 6 tops, 1 trainers, 2 sandals, cross body bag and tote. These took me from cool to hot, casual to smart, dry to wet, and includes what I wore.
@@daniellemartin9896 I'm hella divergent and I do similar. One thing I've done is every day note down what i wore and why. So after a short time I had a grip on what I was doing. It helped me see it versus thinking I was doing x when it was r lol.
Yes you are the packing expert!!! I used your packing method and I am currently in Paris - this worked so well for me! One small carry on, a crossbody bag and a personal item bag. I have exactly what I need using your three day method! I’m traveling solo and your method has been amazing and stress free.
I love this 3 day method! The everyday wardrobe especially! I have a formula I use - no new clothes or shoes (they might prove to be troublesome in some way); versatile, packable, comfortable clothes only, (especially shoes - even for dressing up); mix and match as much as possible; add scarves for color and interest; bring a small umbrella and possibly a jacket or coat. I use any days we move to other cities to start the rotation over. Just remember - chances are no one really cares about your clothes as long as they conform to dress expectations for the event. Enjoy!
I pack like this too! “Ok what am I doing this day? I need this and this and this. Ok the next day? This and this - but I can rewear that from day 1, so I just need this”, etc. it makes packing SO much easier.
I’ve been obsessed with trying to find the best way to come up with a capsule wardrobe for carry on only for a six week trip this fall to France. Love this philosophy! Because of the length of me stay, i may add in one day, but it will depend on space. Thank you! Looking forward to part 2!
I had a client tell me something some yrs. back that just blew my mind! She said her and her hubby went on a backpacking trip through Europe and they only took what would fit into their backpacks. They planned on staying in each hotel one or two nights__this is what they did: - they each took 2 or 3 pair of undies(as they could wash one out while wearing one plus an extra), she took a bra, and something to sleep in. - they each took a pr. of shorts, a bathing suit, one tee, and wore their jeans, a tee, and a wind breaker on traveling days. - they each took a pr. of sandals, and wore walking shoes during travel time. - they took toiletries they could share, to save space, she took simple make-up items(lips, eyes). - in each area they stayed they bought a tee as a souvenir, and if needed a more appropriate top(or simple outfit) for an unexpected but less casual outing. - as they traveled they would either wash clothes at the hotel after wearing them more than once, or they would pack them up as packages and send them home. - as they traveled, they repeated the 'sending their dirty laundry home' scenario and traveled the whole time with just their backpacks__and by the time they arrived home, so did their 'packages'. I thought that was the most brilliant plan I'd ever heard! 💖🙌😺
Loved this video! I am a list maker. So I have a packing and trip todo list that I edit for each new trip. I start making edits weeks out, whenever I think of anything specific this new trip will need packed or done. I list out my clothing pieces I expect to pack, some by name some are socks x7. Then when it's time to pack I just have to go off the list, and it really reduces decision fatigue for me. I might put back a few things if I over did it, but for shorter trips/places we've been before I can usually nail it in the list making phase. It's an art!
She's assuming most people will be stacking their items on the bed, but that wardrobe rack is a GAME CHANGER if you have a place to store it. That way you can start planning ahead of time without things being in the way. You can see if your pieces are going to work together for mix and match. Highly recommend.
ikea has some really attractive free-standing racks but as my sister is a theatrical seamstress and costumer, we always have a portable rolling rack around that can click together!
When i saw this I thought i really need a garment rack !!! Also this is brilliant! Too bad i didnt see it before our Greece trip. However, i did see your Greece video and it helped us plan our bucket list vacation. It was epic. Thank you
I love watching these kind of videos! And I absolutely respect that this method works for her, (and a lot of other folks!), but I’ve never packed so many shoes/bags/jackets/accessories. I’ve done 2+weeks in Europe before and I would never bring more than 1 jacket, 1 purse etc. I certainly wouldn’t bring so many similar white shirts. I mean, more power to her! I just don’t quite understand how this is minimal.
She’s not calling it minimal, she’s saying it’s a way to make sure you feel like you’ve packed what you need. It allows you the flexibility to go minimal, or add more if there’s space and you want to fill it.
This method is perfect for me!! Thank you! I love wearing dresses and jumpsuits and all of the other methods make me feel like I will forget the right slip/slip shorts/underwear/bra/socks/etc. I will probably pack for 1 additional “every day” outfit. I love the idea of packing for everything you want for 3 days and then just re-wearing the outfits and doing laundry when needed. Thank you! 😃💙
Great strategy. I always pack a laundry kit for one loa: a color catcher sheet, laundry soap, dryer sheet; I put it in a little laundry garment sack then seal it up in a Ziploc. Perfect to do a mid-trip load and saves me the hassle of finding the supplies at an unfamiliar destination
I like this 3-day idea. Light colors for the travel day, that's brave. I prefer lighter-weight items and a more minimalist approach. Fewer shoes, fewer purses, no leather, no jeans. Fantasy self or what if items are creating more bulk.
Yes, people gotta learn that their fantasy self didn't pay for an extra ticket so needs to get left behind 😊 PS. And while I've also flirted with the idea of taking a leather jacket, at the end of the day they're just far too heavy and bulky to be practical - even if you wore on plane (could only do for short flights, likely domestic only, and short trip - don't want to have to wear or lug that heavy thing around everywhere)
This method will work so much better for me than the minimalist "4 tops, 3 bottoms, etc" does. So many of my trips involve everything from hiking in the jungle to dancing in very fancy nightclubs. And I don't want to wear the same dress while shopping then out to a fine restaurant then to a club. Your method will make me look less touristy without overpacking!
Yes!! Exactly! Packing what you know you'll need keeps you from overpacking but minimizes the feeling of lack. Plus it's fun to get dressed up once in a while!
My take away from your video was pack for these “days” for whatever trip I’m taking and I will avoid over packing overall. I always pack in a carryon or weekender and tend to be minimalist but still wind up with things I don’t need. With road trips every 3 months for a year for healthcare needs, I will try this approach to help alleviate packing stress. Ain’t nobody got time for packing stress 😂 Thanks!
I love your energy and enthusiasm! But I must say as an older traveler, packing purses to match different outfits, fancy dresses, special undies/bras, belts, etc… is not worth it. Take versatile clothes that are COMFORTABLE and mix and match with everything. Layering is key. And one good cross body bag and one backpack. Depending on your destination, only 3 pairs of shoes are needed…sneakers, another pair of comfy shoes (ie. loafers, Bobs, etc.) and either flip flops, hiking boots or rain boots. Packing cubes are a game changer for me and my tribe! My bestie and I are off to Ireland and Northern Ireland in mid September. We’ll be there for 3 weeks. Everything we need will be in 2 carry ons and 2 personal bags. Renting a car and traveling on our own will be awesome and most likely better than when we did Ireland with a tour group in 1984 😉
Although a few key accessories can make all the difference. Changing up a look while also functional. I swear by 1 dress belt (wear on plane so doesn't take up space or weight in bag), 1 dress watch (wear at all times), 2 scarves (can save you taking those just-in-case blouses - they do easily dress up basics). [Having said this, I may do without the first 2 if I'm going on a strictly beach vacation. But I mostly do sightseeing trips o/s, we have fabulous beaches in my own country, not much point paying extra to lay on someone else's]
@@susie9893 My response was to OP, agreeing with her. But yes we 50s exist ... and even make comments on the internet lol Just saying, in our younger years we are more focused on fashion vs comfort but that changes as we age. Especially our feet!
Finally! Someone who speaks my language! I’m stressing over a trip in 6 months - 17 day cruise ending w/ 3 days in Ca and a trip to Disneyland (can’t forget my ears!) then a long flight home. I want carryon only so this video is working for me! Thank you ❤
I'm glad you finally said this would work for two weeks! Having travelled so much I couldn't believe the amount you were packing. This way you plan eg with a special day, or travel day in mind etc is how I've packed my entire travel life. Good video but could have had the message that this wardrobe isn't just for a three days weekend away.
Watched, but added this video to my "travel" playlist ;) My problem is I always start with my sewing room and only go to my closet when I don't get all the projects completed. I'm watching this in July 2024, and already planning, watching for fabrics online to fill gaps, etc. for an April 2024 London workshop/shopping trip ;)
Negative people no need to trash an idea. Come up with a suggestion instead. The ideas are clear and easy to follow. I love this system and it has taken the confusion out of having piles of mismatched clothes on the bed. You can always cull them back later. Wish I had that rack to hang it all onto. Have subscribed because so enjoyed the Japan trip video. Well done!
I've been carry-on only for all my trips and look forward to utilizing this new-to-me approach when planning our first ever international trip. The only time our packing failed was 3 years ago when visiting the PNW for a month because a heat dome started after we arrived and we were totally not prepared. We had to buy new, lighter clothes and mail, yes mail, our heavier items home. Never did we see that one coming when checking the weather for weeks before we left. That was such a one-off and many memories were made and that trip to WA and OR is still our favorite vacation. Thank you for sharing this video and I look forward to your future videos (you've gained a new subscriber)!!!
👍 it’s interesting to see how you think it through. I start with my shoes. 3 pair. Usually the travel day is a pair of dressy loafers (easy on & off) plus 2 others - dressy ish but comfy sandals that can double as beach wear and running shoes. Once I pick shoes everything else has to work with them. 3 essential Purses- the personal item is usually my Longchamps LE Pliage and I have a small nylon RFID Baggalini cross body that will disappear into my bigger bag if required. Not counting a neck thing with my passport, cash, credit cards, ID & travel documents that disappears into my top. I pack a dressy clutch, and blingy jewelry plus a favourite black silk, lace and beaded wrap to wear with a light black silky top to dress up my black dressy casual pants with. Whether I wear the sandals or the loafers it’s all black and dressy now. From then on its daily clothes to fit the occasions and the weather. I’m working with my 3 pairs of shoes & 3 purses which are in my favourite neutral- black. I have a pair of dressy casual black pants and a black silk top already. Hot climate: Beach or pool is next- 2 bathing suits and a cover up that will double as a light jacket- my favourite white linen blouse. 2 linen shorts- beige & white plus 3 tank tops in a bright accent, black & white. That white linen blouse will look wonderful with the black linen tank and the dressy black pants so that’s another option. Linen blends work well to resist wrinkles but I like the casual look of linen. I hand wash as needed. Cold climate: I have 2 coats that scrunch up into tiny bags - a black down puffer and a navy windbreaker. Those are wonderful to use in winter when travelling somewhere warm as they pack away easily when not needed. Travel outfit: usually the black loafers which slip on & off at security but stay on easily if I have to run for a gate. The black dressy casual pants. The dressy black silky tank top, big silk scarf in a colourful print, thin black merino wool cardigan and the Le Pliage plus crossbody. A nice pair of pearl stud earrings which I wear a lot & will be my main jewelry choice. For extra warmth I always wear my grey cashmere shawl scarf and black puffer coat but those stuff into my Le Pliage or carry on when I’m not wearing them. I strip down as needed to the tank top (a rayon polyester very breathable blend, that rinses out in a sink, dries quickly) and pants. The travel day outfit is elevated enough that I get upgraded to business class at times. I’m pulled together but it’s comfortable. The pants are actually a dressy breathable pair of Ponte knit with an elastic waist and have a little give to them. The top is the silky rib knit rayon blend tank that works for dressed up evenings by adding the silk and lace beaded wrap, the clutch, sandals and blingy earrings. Cardigan jackets are the easiest second layers, adding warmth and pulling a look together so I choose 2- the travel day is always the thin black merino and tropical climates the white linen blouse is essential so a nice accent colour or alternate neutral is my second choice. Skirts, pants or shorts- pick 3. For each bottom pick 2 tops. If it’s cold pick at least 2 wool or cashmere pullovers to go with the pants and several cotton T-shirts for comfort underneath. A dress if needed. A couple of earrings, another scarf for added colour and print, a folding umbrella in a vivid cheerful colour- hot pink or red so an Uber or taxi can see you easily as the right person. I don’t bring my whole skincare routine but I pare down to my absolute essentials. Those makeup eraser cloths eliminate a liquid or balm leaving me pack just a moisturizer that doubles as an eye cream plus an SPF. I buy a body SPF there. Makeup is minimal- lately I’ve been using the Merit stuff - especially the stick foundation/concealer and the brush plus bronzer stick, an eyebrow pencil and mascara. A Bobbi Brown eye shadow stick blends with my finger. A lipstick doubles as a cream blush. I like a powder compact with a mirror & I have a retracting brush so touch ups are easy. I pick a neutral daytime lipstick and a classic red, berry or bright shade for evenings. One pair sunglasses, 1 watch. A packable sun hat.
Wow, so many clothes! We are world travelers, on a budget (60+ countries) and I carry one tiny backpack. Period. One pair of shorts, one pair of pants (NEVER jeans as they take way too long to dry), three shirts, three pair of underwear, one pair of shoes that I wear. Also a light weight jacket. To dress up, two pairs of earrings and eyeliner and mascara. Everything else you might need, buy it there. Packing minimally brings me much peace as a traveler.
You are so lucky and wish that I could. But if one is larger than the local foreign population and has feet larger than the larger population it is very difficult to buy outside one’s home country. And if you are a klutz like me, then inevitably you tear or stain the one pair of pants or shorts that you have. And if one doesn’t mind stinking, which I’ve noticed many of my fellow Americans do when traveling because they don’t wash themselves and/or their clothes, that works as well.
Yes I too pack with very little. This is way too much for me. I do love to carry my tech pouch, my own bedsheet and pillowcase, as white sheets where bleach is used, give me horrible rash. Plus emergency medicines.
Thanks for a new approach to packing. I do plan wardrobe based on the activites but maybe I can pare down the quantity. We'll see. I also use a wardrobe rack to start pulling clothes for trips, helps a lot. 👍👍👍
Definitely going to try this during my trip to Greece in September. But, because I am a fashion junkie, I might pack for 2 "essential" days and 3 "every" days. Still a LOT of stuff but, such an improvement based on my lifestyle & preferences. Thank you for this!
Well traveled person here - business, leisure you name it - always carryon, this method is amazing! While I don’t change clothes often on leisure travel, thinking like this changes the paradigm completely!
Love!!! The evolution of my packing is so similar but I hadn’t thought of it in these terms. This is going to help me reduce my overpacking and my packing time so much! Can’t wait for part two. Thank you!
Wow this advice is fantastic. I followed this packing method for a recent 2-week trip to Europe, and it worked beautifully. I wore everything I packed and only had to do a small load of laundry during the second week. I used the compression cubes, and they made a big difference. I was able to get everything (including my leather jacket and 3 pairs of shoes) into a carry-on bag. I joked that it was my "neutron star" because it had some much clothing compressed into it. I was worried that the items would be wrinkled from being compressed, but they were mostly perfect except for a silk dress that I just had to hang in the bathroom while I took a shower, and it was fine. I flew on Delta, which was OK with my 32 lb carry-on, but if you are flying another airline in Europe, make sure you check weight restrictions. I took some extra stuff, like a large cashmere wrap and leather coat, that I could have worn instead of packing. I also carried a large tote-style purse for my computer and personal items. In the past, I've always checked a bag and worried about the bag making it to my destination. It felt great to have all my stuff with me on the plane and know that my things were safe. It was also great to have a smaller bag because we took several trains during our trip.
I really struggle with packing and always take far too much. I start off well and then panic the day before the trip and stuff extra in 😅 then feel overloaded. I am looking forward to trying your method. Thank you 🌟
Yes, definitely need a toiletry bag video… I travel to Britain every other year to spent 2 weeks visiting family, where we used to live, etc. We also fit in 4 days n London for shows/shopping. I ALWAYS overpack, I can’t seem get to carryon level only. I always a have clothes I never wore too. Since I’m heading to Britain in Sept/October this year I look forward to your next video.
Thank you for the very helpful process of packing. We will be travelling from Western Australia to Virginia, USA later this year and I am feeling a little anxious about how to go about packing. This is the best advice I have seen. It is a way of including all the items that are required, without overpacking, and not feeling that you have forgotten something important.
So I started sometimes bringing a cooler. I found a backpack cooler a few years back and it’s too big to be my personal but it’s works as a carryon. I stuff it full of clothes and a fold up bag that I can transfer my clothes to when we get there. Then we have a large cooler and can fill it with groceries instead of eating out every meal. This works great if we’re not staying in a single place the whole time! Just wipe it out before you put your clothes back in!
This is so helpful to think about what you’re doing on the trip. We’re going to Europe in August for 9 days including travel days and we have three travel days, a Taylor Swift concert, a Disneyland trip, and a fancy dinner in London that are set events. Most days will be an everyday. I’m planning on packing a change of clothes in each of our personal items on travel days so we can do a quick change at the airport when we land.
I’m really liking this idea for packing! Toward the end when you list what you actually packed, it seems reasonable for a 2 - 3 week trip. I have a trip next spring that starts in Paris and goes south so I will need layers to start and remove. I think I can do this and still hit my 26.4# weight limit (all bags combined) for AirFrance. If you are able, I’d love to see if you can do this carryon and weigh your bags! Thanks.
This is amazing!!! I am like you reading, googling all different methods!!. I will be trying this out for our next adventure, because my hubby says that I always OVER PACK. Thank you for being "real and realistic!"
Excited to try this out, double journey coming up. First girls trip for 4 nights then straight to an onsite overnight with work. Happy I found your blog.
Packing for Costa Rica today and just watched your video for a second time. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful tips. I am now carry-on only and I’ve been doing 5-4-3-2-1, but I’ll be using your method on this trip. Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏼😊
I like the concept of thinking through each day or event. However, I prefer a carry-on only backpack. I use two medium size packing cubes which fit perfectly in my eBags Motherlode backpack - one for tops and one for bottoms , including layering pieces and stuffing socks and underwear in the sides. The two cubes fit about 12 tops and 8 bottoms including pjs, etc. Only two pairs of shoes (wearing the bulkier one), one purse and one jacket (worn). Shoes are the hardest thing to pare down, but I much prefer carry-on than bringing more stuff to check and lug.
A great idea, but so many shoes and jackets could end up being heavy. I’m limited to only 22 lbs or 10 kg including the weight of the carry on piece of luggage by Air Transat. Heavy things go in my personal item that they don’t weigh…yet.
I know this is somewhat overkill, but in each go bag/carryon/etc I use I keep a ready bag of usb cords, wall socket, small earphones and a usb converter. If I don't something is getting left so I solved that by simply having one ready all the time. I also keep a bathing suit and a ziplock with toothbrush and toothpaste, comb etc. Saves me from leaving something out. I've not started doing lists that stay in the bag so I know what to grab for what sort of trip.
I love iiittt !! I was so overwhelmed this morning feeling overpacked for my one week trip leaving tomorrow.. I was on my way back home from last day’s workday before holidays to redo my packing & found your video!!! I just can’t wait to get back home to use this method!!!! I’ll comment again when I do it, but it looks amazing thank youuu
Really interesting concept!! My mom always told me to bring clean underwear and socks. Has stood me in good stead when I've had horrific layovers. The things that take up the most room for me are glasses (I need mutiple pairs because of a vision problem that can' NOT be addressed with just 2 pairs of glasses) and meds. For warmth a chasmere and/or merino top/sweater is my go-tos. Also merino wool socks. In shoes, like tennies I look for ones with Gore-Tex as that has always kept my feet dry. I have yet to find a good packable rain coat with a hood that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. BTW, I'm 70 and I have some of your packing cubes. I've thought about getting the toiletry bag for my next trip, whenever that is.
Coming this month! Try Lems hiking boots… They’re super lightweight and pliable for inside your luggage! Both Tim and I bring them on every hike and trip
Some good ideas though so many items! True i dont run or do some sports, though i do Cruise& going on 24dy in cold temps, so have to consider cold+ wet gear. Wve clothing will be mix/match 1skirt, 1travel/eve slacks 4tops, 6-7 dress x2 wears. If need wash in shwr! Carry hooks to hang. I will watch more your video. Sad i missed Good morning show.
Great point, this method is great for packing for multiple locations! ie what if I'm too hot in Egypt? What if I'm too cold in France? Then add items to accomodate
This is as so helpful! I’m Traveling to Ireland next weekend and I am a frazzled mess. Stuff everywhere. Tomorrow I will use this method!! Perfect timing!
This is great. I would naturally start doing this and then revert to the numbered list. Thanks for the encouragement to focus on the three days and special event day. So practical.
I love this! I am a "Carry-On Only" gal and have been for several decades (except for 2 high end caribbean cruises where Gowns were required) . I really appreaciate how you've broken things down to super simple (and logical) steps. I'm hoping this will help with my upcoming Alaska Trip where it will be all about Layers and Dry Feet!
@@TrippedTravelGear Will do! I'm thinking many of my Big layers (puffer jacket, slicker, polar fleece hoodie) will be worn On the plane along with my hiking boots. I can always sit on those (the layers, not the boots) in the plane!
This is the best travel packing video yet… I love the 3 day thought, and all the combinations. I’m headed to Italy next month and this will definitely help me pack less. Thanks!
I agree with the idea when packing necessities and technology to take along as this has been my method as well both for work and leisure trips over the years. However, in terms of clothing, I believe this method becomes a multistep, cumbersome process that require questioning and reevaluation. I find clothes packing easier when I get inspired by my clothes in the closet and decide what to wear just once without second guessing myself. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great method! It takes some hard thinking and focus, but it does break down the steps to make better choices. And I love the 1 what-ifs for each day!
I recently went to Spain for 3 weeks horseback riding, 😅 hiking, via Ferreta and 4 days in Madrid with friends to go to fancy restaurants and outings., with a carry-on and a small small backpack. I had clothes for cold weather and everything you need to ride a horse for a week. Everything fit in my suitcase including my riding boots, chaps, shirts, sweaters, puffer jacket, etc. I had 3 dresses and one skirt. I wore everything I brought and I guess I sorta did what you did, packing for the days I knew I was going to have.
I love the idea of this method! I'll have to try it next time I travel. I just got back from a 15 day trip in Europe and I overpacked and didn't pack the right things...and I planned so much. lol I want to see how you pack all this. Part 2 please! :)
Traveled 1.5 million miles over the last 25 yrs and this is the 1st unique packing method. (I'm sitting in the airport right now headed to Vienna & I wish I would have seen this first it would have cut down on much stress!) Truly brilliant and I can't wait to try this. Many hugs, Z. Allora
This is exactly what we were hoping to accomplish! Other packing methods just weren't cutting it for us. Next trip you'll be all set! Have a great time in Vienna!
Love this. I did a similar packing to Malaysia recently for 9 days and washed [carry on) and small backpack. Thank you for the excellent video. Still looking for a crossbody that slighky bigger, slash proof with comfortable shoulder straps. Also merino tops that are long enough as I am very tall. I have your packing cubes and looking at your toiletry bag as well.
That's alot of clothes changes. Something to add - wash dirty clothes whilst showering, wring excess water using a towel - dries overnight. For women - wearing panty liners saves your clothes.
Panty liners take up more space than underwear does for me and I'm not carrying around extra disposable items. I wash my undies while I shower or in the sink if I'm running low.
@@debracisneroshhp2827 lol I do wear laser cut thongs and very breathable underwear but taking enough liners to be wearing one all the time on a trip just seems like so much unnecessary space when I can just wash my underwear
It's a great concept. Thank you. I will certainly use it in a way to suit me. As you say there are always grey areas. I am 64 and don't necessarily accessorise as much these days. A day pack/wet pack and a black cross body bag are perfect. Plus you always have the option to indulge in a little retail therapy when you're away. 😄
Going to try packing like this for my upcoming 30 day trip to South Africa. Includes a 21 day motorcycle tour, general sight-seeing before and after (and safari), and wine tasting. It's spring in Cape Town but 30+Celsius in Vic Falls. Just bought packing cubes to use for the first time as well. Wish me luck!
I am bery much an overpacker. Will have to use these tips on next upcoming trip. Sure could use some good compression bags, know where I can find any 😜
I finally found a method, that also might fit for me! The "calories counting method" was able to ruin a whole vacation. Yes, probably I did it wrong. I would like to see a "what's in my Tripped Travel Gear toiletry bag" from you, please.
Just finished packing for a 16nt cruise + 3 days pre-cruise in London. I cut out absolutely everything we didn't need and still packed 3 med/large + 2 carry-on for 2 adults and a preteen boy. We're doing British Isles and Iceland so need warmer clothing and some summer clothing. I cannot seem to pack any lighter 😢 Everything I packed we'll use.
I don’t know if this would help you, but just in case…layering can keep you toasty warm if need be. Wearing two shirts, or two pairs of socks works well. Also a fleece or wool sweater and raincoat together are as good as a winter coat unless it is well below freezing. Bon voyage!
@skokokelli yep, we've been to Alaska a few times. We didn't even bring our winter coats because it's supposed to be in the mid teens Celsius and I don't even bust out my puffer until it gets we'll below freezing at home. Our biggest issue is we have 7 days between when we'll have access to laundry at the beginning of our trip so had to pack accordingly. Once we get on the ship we can do it more frequently.
Ok, this is genius! I subscribed 😊 I am really good at traveling with a carryon for months on end, but I always love new ideas and tricks. 😊 I'd love your take on a cold weather capsule. My travels are usually in colder weather. It's taken time and trial and error but I've gotten there.
Don’t care that checked luggage is included in price of ticket. I like this idea of three days! Last time i did it was ten days in spring in Ireland. Thought 3 days of warm changeable pieces to make outfits. All fit in a less than 5lbs carryon. I’m now using a two wheel less than 5lb underseater - (💤for Air Canada underseater size still counts as carryon :/ not personal item-annoying) Anyway used it for four cooler days in NYC. No special events. Thought three days of outfits- including travel- days plus two what ifs. Totally worked. Peeve! With greater numbers of people learning to use carryon the bin space is quickly gone! Underseater is the way to go. Down side still::: earlier flight change to a stand by ticket- underseater had to be checked- not lost - easily picked up at carousel as i still make sure i have a bright “marker” attached.🎉
Love your 3 day packing method! I travel a lot and am dedicated to carry on only. I will try your 3 day strategy when I travel to Vancouver later this summer. When will you post part 2 putting it all in the bag? I am looking at getting a new carry on bag maybe with back pack straps. Any suggestions?
Absolutely! This wardrobe will fit into a carry-on + personal item. We love the Away Bigger Carry-On but Target has a great dupe at a much better price point. Amazon also has a lot of great "personal item backpacks" if you are looking for something with straps!
I rarely bring anything white as it shows dirt and I spill a lot. Have a pair of nylon ripstop pants and jacket in my personal item in case coffee spills on me in the plane along with underwear of course. I always rely on black jeans rather than denim and they can be dressed up or down. I wear my sneakers with the black jeans and a black cardigan on the plane and pack sandals and dress sandals. You might need a shawl of some kind too. I skip the fancy electronic and toiletry kits and use soft bags or baggies and I swear by your packing cubes. I am a plus sized woman so it's not easy to find items in my destination so packing has to be done very strategically to fit all those huge clothing items. Please do a video on packing plus size clothing as it's not easy!
That is such a good point! Plus size clothes do take up a lot more space!. Especially sweaters. When I see videos of piles of tiny clothes going into small cubes, I think "that's nice for you, but wouldn't work for me."
So happy I stumbled upon your Video! I ALWAYS overpack! I told myself for this trip I will not. Started making a list but became quickly overwhelmed. We will be in Europe for the month of September starting in Norway and then all over Spain. Temperature range (50 - 80 degrees) is an issue, we will be walking alot, going to museums and wineries and dining at several VERY fancy dinners. Should I add another day to 3 day method? The first two weeks is a Viking Ocean so I can do laundry. The 2nd half is private tours with some train travel. I do not wear jeans, but have purchased some nice travel pants, have lots of black everything LOL. Would love your recommendations!
What an awesome trip! Sticking to the 3-day method should still do the trip. Just be sure you're accounting for every part of your 3 days. The museums, wineries, fancy dining, those should all be considered when packing for each day!
I’m going to Europe for 6 weeks + 3 day stopover in Dubai! I live this way of what you’ve come up with. Hoping it will work for me. Suspect Dubai. May be it’s own day though. Will look forward to seeing Part 2.
I like this because it's logical (=flexible) more than mathematical (=rigid). You made me realize i do this on some level except my hypothetical day involves about 100 activities and 3-5 bathing suit options (for all the differing watering holes) 😅
I love your method! Except I have to add 3 outfits for an ambiguous 😂 European destination wedding ..so there's 3 different special occasion outfits I need to pack also. I'm going to use your method for the rest of my packing! We are traveling for 10 days before meeting up for the wedding.
I’m stressed watching you pack. Wow, you pack so much 😳😮 I used to pack like you when I was younger when I cared too much about impressing. Now I throw in a few black shirts, leggings shorts and off I go. Lipstick and essentials. It would drive me bonkers to pack like you showed in this video. 😮 thanks though
I just spent 3 weeks in Australia, and only took a carry-on bag and a personal item. I wore a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, 1 x undershirt (cami), ankle boots, compression socks, cardigan, and carried a lightweight merino wool/cashmere sweater in my personal item bag. I packed 1 x jeans, 1 x trousers, 2 x dresses, 5 x shirts/tops, 2 x t-shirts (1 black, 1 white), 2 x camisoles, 1 x sweater, 1 x cardigan, and 1 x lightweight jacket. Then, 4 pairs of panties, 2 bras, 4 pairs of socks, toiletries, and a hairbrush. 1 x white sneakers and 1 x beige pumps. 1 x sunhat. 1 x mini umbrella. I had my laptop, phone, and charging cords as well as plug adapter. I mixed and matched everything, and still had too many tops. I always attend church and often other meetings, where I need to dress up. I have learned from travelling for over 10 years that I always take more than I actually need.
this is a very interesting approach - will try it when I'm packing for my next trip to Japan! like you, I've been travelling for a long time and still can't find the perfect packing method for me
This is an amazing system! I can’t wait to try it on my next trip! My biggest concern was the fear of having options and the What If solves that for me. 🎉❤ TFS
I'm pretty much settled on wearing all golf wear, in white, gray and black. Add in a blazer and some dress shoes, all good for all scenarios except a tux event.
I wear dresses so bring a dress for each day and I wear a black maxi dress on a travel day, so easy and I always look stylish. Thanks for the video. I appreciate you sharing your method.
@@portiaread9484I used to think this too, but then I discovered the hack of tying a knot at the hem. Not only does this shorten the dress but it also keeps it closer to your body so less likely to get caught on, in or dangling thru anything. (And gives you a different look). And, if you pick the right black maxi, you can use it as a layering piece - a bit like a pinafore, where you layer under with contrasting t-shirts &/or undershirts (even a blouse). Sometimes a black maxi is the basic the rest of my travel capsule hangs on (depending on the trip - fabulous for a shoulder season trip where you might need to dress up a bit but not too formal - think a scarf or a dressy shrug/kimono. Can also wear tights or even thermals underneath + ankle boots or sneakers). Would seriously recommend you reconsidering the black maxi
My husband and I are ready to roll out our channel. Retirement is 5 years away and we want to start sharing our travels now. Our interests are cruising and vineyards/wine tasting. Slow travel appeals.
See I don’t wanna do laundry all the time and I can’t rewear most things since I sweat a lot, unless they’re jeans or a hoodie. So I’m packing for a week and doing laundry once a week with a pickup wash and fold service so I don’t have to waste my time doing it myself when I already have limited time in each place on my vacation
PART 2: ua-cam.com/video/EFtAe9EfApw/v-deo.htmlsi=o4Qv66gSW6Em6vAg
I agree. I always take a pair of undies, socks, bra and tshirt in my carry on just in case.
@Deem57. Yes, I found your tips very useful. Looking for my tshirt dress right now. Love this idea.❤
Thanks!
Going to Kenya. Noted this one❤
@@thatswhatisaidCA I was able to cover it up with my hoodie. But I was prepared to put it in my backpack. I flew from USA to Germany non stop flight and then home from Rome to San Francisco(1-stop in Canada) without having to remove it.
I'm with you. Great method far fewer clothes than the complicated routine she's going through.
this helps me!
Great! Looks like you'll have no prob getting into a carry-on
I'm so glad you found a method that works for you but for many people, especially neurodivergent people, that's simply not going to work.
@@daniellemartin9896l have no idea what neurodivergent even means! Hopefully that means l don’t have it! 😁
@@daniellemartin9896 I'm hella divergent and I do similar. One thing I've done is every day note down what i wore and why. So after a short time I had a grip on what I was doing. It helped me see it versus thinking I was doing x when it was r lol.
And who changes their underwear 3 to 4 times a day??
Yes you are the packing expert!!! I used your packing method and I am currently in Paris - this worked so well for me! One small carry on, a crossbody bag and a personal item bag. I have exactly what I need using your three day method! I’m traveling solo and your method has been amazing and stress free.
LOVE this!! Thank you for testing out the method!
Enjoy!
Love this, haha yes! The strangers at your destination won’t know if your clothes are new or not 🙃☺️
The idea with(out) new clothes and shoes is brilliant!!! ❤
I pack like this too! “Ok what am I doing this day? I need this and this and this. Ok the next day? This and this - but I can rewear that from day 1, so I just need this”, etc. it makes packing SO much easier.
Packing by day and activity just makes sense!
I’ve been obsessed with trying to find the best way to come up with a capsule wardrobe for carry on only for a six week trip this fall to France. Love this philosophy! Because of the length of me stay, i may add in one day, but it will depend on space. Thank you! Looking forward to part 2!
😆😆let us know how it works out!!
I had a client tell me something some yrs. back that just blew my mind!
She said her and her hubby went on a backpacking trip through Europe and they only took what would fit into their backpacks. They planned on staying in each hotel one or two nights__this is what they did:
- they each took 2 or 3 pair of undies(as they could wash one out while wearing one plus an extra), she took a bra, and something to sleep in.
I'd love to see this method written out! It could almost be a ven diagram of pieces that are to be repurposed at different times of the trip!
I do the same thing. I save the lists for future use, editing as necessary. I still mess up, though!
She's assuming most people will be stacking their items on the bed, but that wardrobe rack is a GAME CHANGER if you have a place to store it. That way you can start planning ahead of time without things being in the way. You can see if your pieces are going to work together for mix and match. Highly recommend.
I am currently packing and have an over-the-door collapsable rack. It's a great solution and space saver.
Love the wardrobe rack! It's nice to see everything hanging in one spot.
I agree! I use it for my weekly wardrobe and it keeps my daily stuff from piling up on my chair 👌🏼
ikea has some really attractive free-standing racks but as my sister is a theatrical seamstress and costumer, we always have a portable rolling rack around that can click together!
I just don’t quite understand how this is minimal.
i try to never pack white clothes for travel-maybe because I'm always getting them dirty! esp on a travel day outfit!
You can definitely use this same method but pack more minimally! We could still fit all of this into a carry-on so, why not? 🤷♀️
She’s not calling it minimal, she’s saying it’s a way to make sure you feel like you’ve packed what you need. It allows you the flexibility to go minimal, or add more if there’s space and you want to fill it.
White is crazy lol!
Thank you! 😃💙
The trick to remembering everything that you'll need!
That's a great idea to make sure you have what you'll need for laundry.
I like this 3-day idea. Light colors for the travel day, that's brave. I prefer lighter-weight items and a more minimalist approach. Fewer shoes, fewer purses, no leather, no jeans. Fantasy self or what if items are creating more bulk.
Yes, people gotta learn that their fantasy self didn't pay for an extra ticket so needs to get left behind 😊
PS.
The best start to a good trip is a stress-free packing experience! Hope this helps!
Renting a car and traveling on our own will be awesome and most likely better than when we did Ireland with a tour group in 1984 😉
Packing cubes make all the difference!
She's still young. She'll figure this out by the time she hits 50 lol.
@@AllySa33 lol, did I stumble into a 50s thread? (Why can't we just know this stuff in our 20s?? Would have made travel so much easier back then)
@@susie9893 My response was to OP, agreeing with her. But yes we 50s exist ... and even make comments on the internet lol Just saying, in our younger years we are more focused on fashion vs comfort but that changes as we age. Especially our feet!
As an avid traveler - this method is brilliant! Can't wait to see how it gets packed!
I'm preparing for a 2 week trip to Italy and attempting carry-on only and this is the first (and only) video that has actually made sense to my brain!
yayyy so glad to hear!
Finally! Someone who speaks my language! I’m stressing over a trip in 6 months - 17 day cruise ending w/ 3 days in Ca and a trip to Disneyland (can’t forget my ears!) then a long flight home. I want carryon only so this video is working for me! Thank you ❤
That is the perfect trip to test out the 3-Day Packing Method on!
Wayyy too much for 3 days, but by packing for these 3 days, you'll be set for any length of trip!
Well done!
Thanks for being here! Amazon has quite a few cheap options for clothing racks if you're looking: amzn.to/4d0tZQS
Weather can totally throw you off! Glad it was still a great trip!
I have Tripped packing cubes and the toiletries bag set. Just used them on two trips this month. I love how they helped me to organize my packing. ❤
This is so great to hear!
Packing minimally brings me much peace as a traveler.
so you mostly follow the summer? Skipping winters?
Exactly! Six weeks in London, including a business conference, on ONE sm carry-on. It's awesome!
Do you really want to be having to shop for clothes on your trip? You still have to pack it to bring it home.
Thanks for a new approach to packing. I do plan wardrobe based on the activites but maybe I can pare down the quantity. We'll see. I also use a wardrobe rack to start pulling clothes for trips, helps a lot. 👍👍👍
We believe in you!
Definitely going to try this during my trip to Greece in September. But, because I am a fashion junkie, I might pack for 2 "essential" days and 3 "every" days. Still a LOT of stuff but, such an improvement based on my lifestyle & preferences. Thank you for this!
This method is great for the fashionistas because you can still bring everything you want!
Well traveled person here - business, leisure you name it - always carryon, this method is amazing! While I don’t change clothes often on leisure travel, thinking like this changes the paradigm completely!
This is awesome to hear! Thank you!
Love!!! The evolution of my packing is so similar but I hadn’t thought of it in these terms. This is going to help me reduce my overpacking and my packing time so much! Can’t wait for part two. Thank you!
Woohoo! Welcome to the world of packing just enough.
One thing I will not rewear will be tops unless I wash them. I may not smell myself but people might so I will pack a top for everyday.
Thank you I also think about this fact. And never see a comment on that topic. Though I see almost everyone sweat in the heat. 😅
Yeah, I don't think I want to re-wear any items, but definitely not tops!
Use Merino wool tops ..no smell!
Wow! The leather jacket even made it!! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the 3 day packing method and compression cubes!
I really struggle with packing and always take far too much. I start off well and then panic the day before the trip and stuff extra in 😅 then feel overloaded. I am looking forward to trying your method. Thank you 🌟

The last minute "what if" items can pile up!
Looks like a good way to not forget something important.
Exactly!
I love their toiletry bag! It hold way more than I need with room for other goodies to spare.
We're on it!
Thanks for the nice comment! Virginia is so beautiful I hope you have a great trip!
We found it so helpful, too!
Ahhhhh I’m doing a SPECIAL Eras tour packing video soon, just for this reason! (Combined with the Olympics!!!)
Thanks.
Next video will show how we pack the carry-on! This method will be great for a multi-destination trip.
This is amazing!!! I am like you reading, googling all different methods!!. I will be trying this out for our next adventure, because my hubby says that I always OVER PACK. Thank you for being "real and realistic!"
Let us know what you think of the new method!
Excited to try this out, double journey coming up. First girls trip for 4 nights then straight to an onsite overnight with work. Happy I found your blog.
The perfect time to test it out!
Packing for Costa Rica today and just watched your video for a second time. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful tips. I am now carry-on only and I’ve been doing 5-4-3-2-1, but I’ll be using your method on this trip. Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏼😊
Let us know how the 3-day method works for your trip to Costa Rica!
Once you go carry-on only, it's hard to go back! It really is that much easier to travel without the heavy luggage.
A great idea, but so many shoes and jackets could end up being heavy. I’m limited to only 22 lbs or 10 kg including the weight of the carry on piece of luggage by Air Transat. Heavy things go in my personal item that they don’t weigh…yet.
Our fav tip is to wear your heaviest shoes on the plane!
What if I told you we have the perfect bag for you... shoptripped.com/black-pouch
@@TrippedTravelGear nice setup. Ill keep it mind when I need a replacement
🫶🫶 we know that feeling of overwhelm all too well. Let us know how this helps!
Merino wool is always an awesome layer option especially when traveling somewhere chilly! Hope you're loving your gear!
LLBean has quality waterproof raincoats of different lengths and linings. Mine is probably 10 years old.
Great! Thank you. Doing book research--need hiking boots and it all worked with your method. But where is Part 2 of this?
Coming this month! Try Lems hiking boots… They’re super lightweight and pliable for inside your luggage! Both Tim and I bring them on every hike and trip
Some good ideas though so many items! True i dont run or do some sports, though i do Cruise& going on 24dy in cold temps, so have to consider cold+ wet gear. Wve clothing will be mix/match 1skirt, 1travel/eve slacks 4tops, 6-7 dress x2 wears. If need wash in shwr! Carry hooks to hang. I will watch more your video. Sad i missed Good morning show.
We're trying to stay away from counting clothing items so that each piece has an intentional purpose in your suitcase!
@@TrippedTravelGear I did hear your intentions, & agree, I to try more, yet I on way from Hot to Cpld territory! Colder than Alaska & norway
Love to see an example of packing for 2 different climates for 7 weeks. Egypt, France then winter in northern Norway.
Great point, this method is great for packing for multiple locations! ie what if I'm too hot in Egypt? What if I'm too cold in France? Then add items to accomodate
WHAT A FUN MORNING ON "GOOD MORNING AMERICA" TODAY! Thanks for sharing in the fun with us on Instagram and celebrating our journey with us :) :)
This is as so helpful! I’m
Traveling to Ireland next weekend and I am a frazzled mess. Stuff everywhere. Tomorrow I will use this method!! Perfect timing!
perfect timing indeed!
This is great. I would naturally start doing this and then revert to the numbered list. Thanks for the encouragement to focus on the three days and special event day. So practical.
Let us know how it works for you!
Ooo! Yes carry-on only is so much more manageable than we tend to think! Let us know how this method works for your trip to Alaska!
@@TrippedTravelGear Will do! I'm thinking many of my Big layers (puffer jacket, slicker, polar fleece hoodie) will be worn On the plane along with my hiking boots. I can always sit on those (the layers, not the boots) in the plane!
@@sylviahuizingarebelfitnati4845just returned from Alaska…rain slicker and light sweatshirt were more than enough
I haven’t ever thought to customize my personal item to what I’ll need on the trip- that seems like such a “duh” thing now 🤦🏻♀️🤣 thanks for the tip!!
Yay! So glad that resonates with you!
Interesting! I personally always start with my travel day outfit, since that's the outfit I will most definitely have with me.
Good point! We start with the Essential Day so that everything we need for our most important day is set.
This is the best travel packing video yet… I love the 3 day thought, and all the combinations. I’m headed to Italy next month and this will definitely help me pack less. Thanks!
Have a great trip and let us know how packing goes!
Cheers to What Ifs!
You were doing the 3 day method before you even knew about the 3 day method!
I love the idea of this method! I'll have to try it next time I travel. I just got back from a 15 day trip in Europe and I overpacked and didn't pack the right things...and I planned so much. lol
I want to see how you pack all this. Part 2 please! :)
Keep an eye out! Part 2 incoming!
Traveled 1.5 million miles over the last 25 yrs and this is the 1st unique packing method. (I'm sitting in the airport right now headed to Vienna & I wish I would have seen this first it would have cut down on much stress!)
Truly brilliant and I can't wait to try this.
Many hugs, Z. Allora
This is exactly what we were hoping to accomplish! Other packing methods just weren't cutting it for us. Next trip you'll be all set! Have a great time in Vienna!
Small world! Have a great trip, and we are TRULY FLATTERED by your nice comment, THANK YOU!
Try merino tops in a men's version! .. That's what I do when I have the same issue!
@@daniellemartin9896,
Wow, you must wear G-strings__the thinnest panty liners hardly take up any space, I keep one in my make-up bag (just in case). 😺
@@debracisneroshhp2827 lol I do wear laser cut thongs and very breathable underwear but taking enough liners to be wearing one all the time on a trip just seems like so much unnecessary space when I can just wash my underwear
@@daniellemartin9896 ,
😺
Yes coz pee smell is gross. And maybe air out the used pants for a day or two before wearing again
😄
Nothing wrong with a little retail therapy!
Have an amazing trip!!!
I am bery much an overpacker. Will have to use these tips on next upcoming trip. Sure could use some good compression bags, know where I can find any 😜
🙃 we couldn't possibly! 😉
I like your three day concept. It put things in perspective what needs to be packed instead of having my brain going all over randomly thinking.
A bit of method to the madness of packing!
I finally found a method, that also might fit for me! The "calories counting method" was able to ruin a whole vacation. Yes, probably I did it wrong.
I would like to see a "what's in my Tripped Travel Gear toiletry bag" from you, please.
We also felt like other packing method just didn't quite do it for us! Glad this one makes sense for you!
Sounds like the perfect opportunity to test out the 3-day packing method!
Ok, this is genius! I subscribed 😊 I am really good at traveling with a carryon for months on end, but I always love new ideas and tricks. 😊
I'd love your take on a cold weather capsule. My travels are usually in colder weather. It's taken time and trial and error but I've gotten there.
Ooo! Let us know how this new method works for you!
Ugh. I can't imagine wearing the same clothes for days and days
Worth a try! I’m packing for a week in Jamaica carry on only!! Will give this method a whirl.
Absolutely! You'll have no problem - AND. get to bring a few favorite pieces like a favorite dress or bathing suit
I am such an over-packer😂😂
This is sooooo helpful!!!
omg. I have been watching ALL the packing videos for a Europe trip because it's the first time I'm doing carry on and THIS is so intelligent.
🔥🔥🔥
Nice method! Will try for upcoming trip.
My recent trip to Mexico I packed for each specific day.
I love your method. Thanks for sharing this video. I was wondering where you got the shirt you’re wearing… It is such a nice style.
"You know it's ambiguous Europe. You want to look cute" 😂 I love your videos. !!
Traveling to Europe makes me want to elevate the outfits just a bit 😉
Thank you! I am going to try to do this!!!
I’m going to Europe for 6 weeks + 3 day stopover in Dubai! I live this way of what you’ve come up with. Hoping it will work for me. Suspect Dubai. May be it’s own day though. Will look forward to seeing Part 2.
That's going to be awesome! Absolutely - I'm sure you'll see how you could use Dubai as a layering piece - like a long flowy dress or something!
@@TrippedTravelGear great idea I have just the thing I’ve haven’t worn and would be perfect!
I like this because it's logical (=flexible) more than mathematical (=rigid). You made me realize i do this on some level except my hypothetical day involves about 100 activities and 3-5 bathing suit options (for all the differing watering holes) 😅
What If I have to change my bathing suit for every activity?! 🤣 We also love the flexibility of this method. Makes packing a bit less stressful!
I love your method! Except I have to add 3 outfits for an ambiguous 😂 European destination wedding ..so there's 3 different special occasion outfits I need to pack also. I'm going to use your method for the rest of my packing! We are traveling for 10 days before meeting up for the wedding.
Use the wedding as your "Essential Day"! The most important day of your trip that you can't forget an item for. Have fun!
The is brilliant! I loved your approach, and it has made packing and creating a capsule wardrobe so much easier.
Thanks so much!
This video is very helpful! I will be trying this method for two weeks in Bermuda. Thank you for the great tips.
Great! Have a great trip to Bermuda!
This is great way to pack everything you need without packing anything you won't be using!
Finally someone who thinks like I do!! Thanks for organizing my thoughts.
What a compliment!
Do you have a list of where you bought items. Like your jackets or purses
oh great idea! We'll have that soon
I LOVE this method. It’s brilliant! We will be using it for our Ireland family wedding trip
Let us know how it works for you! And enjoy Ireland!
Whoo whoo cheers to 3 weeks in a carry-on!!
this is a very interesting approach - will try it when I'm packing for my next trip to Japan! like you, I've been travelling for a long time and still can't find the perfect packing method for me
Hope this helps!
This is an amazing system! I can’t wait to try it on my next trip! My biggest concern was the fear of having options and the What If solves that for me. 🎉❤ TFS
The What If is the most difficult part of packing! Push through it, you've got this!
I'm pretty much settled on wearing all golf wear, in white, gray and black. Add in a blazer and some dress shoes, all good for all scenarios except a tux event.
Sticking to one color scheme or neutrals helps with being able to mix and match!
I wear dresses so bring a dress for each day and I wear a black maxi dress on a travel day, so easy and I always look stylish. Thanks for the video. I appreciate you sharing your method.
maxi dresses can be such a comfortable way to travel!
What a great way to travel: maxi dresses! I especially love that you save your black one for travel days! ❤
Someone mentioned that maxi dresses will drag on the floors of restrooms. Ugh. Puddles.
@@portiaread9484 I don’t have this problem, I am 5’8” and my longest maxi hits right above the ankles.
We love a vineyard tour! Napa Valley is one of our favorite spots
Merino wool is a great option because it is a lightweight and antimicrobial material for fewer washes needed
Could you make a video for someone who travels in the winter? We go to Europe and I pack a great deal of items but my husband is even worse.
Great call! I’ll add “cold weather” to the list!
I’m loving this and I was a skeptic cause I think I am perfect carry on only packer! Not a skeptic any more. I’m doing your method
