Hey guys. I really appreciate all the Joey passion. I'm stunned how this is not what I thought it was. I was a huge RAGE fan and loved Rock/Rap back in the day. I think I missed this due to the 'scary' image and the masks etc.
I didn't give it a chance.
I actually quite like this :)
Aside from NOT being a double kick player, it's not that far out of my wheelhouse at all.
I have a tribute vid in the works. Friends have sent through their thoughts on Joey and what he meant to them. Will be releasing when I get all the vids and time to edit.
If you're digging the vids please sub and check out my reaction playlist!
ua-cam.com/video/7_-K-blQoTE/v-deo.html
at the beginning of 2000-2010, Slipknot was something new for me in metal, especially in drums .... I got a full dose like never before. It was the start of something new
I come from a more melodic metal background and I didn't really like Slipknot at all when I first heard them. The aggression in the music and the whole aesthetic felt a bit fake to me at a glance. Then I took the time to actually listening to what they were about and found them to be great, there was a raw honesty and true skill to their music that was easy to miss. I think it's partly due to the very iconic image they project, it's easy to see just that and think that's all there is to them. I've since seen them live about half a dozen times and time has been an life-affirming event.
RIP JOEY...THE MIGHTY MOUSE OF EXTREME DRUMMING!!!!
Please react to "Joey Jordison - People = shit"!!!
@@cheesecake5469 This this!!
Joey is still turning people into Slipknot fans. Love to see it.
yup hahaha love how he says "this is killah" 😂
I’m sure Joey would be proud that his music is still touching people’s hearts and soul
Should be turning them into Murderdoll fans.
yes, me he's the reason why I became their fan
100%!
Joey is one of the people who inspired me to start playing. He was one of a kind and will be missed..
A great guy 😢
Honestly same after I broke out of the classic "your dad's" metal, this was the first band I gravitated towards. And the first thing that grabbed me was those drums!! He made me a drummer what a huge inspiration he will be missed...
Same man, I picked up the sticks because of him. I was obsessed with his playing and was drumming on some chair in my room trying to get those fast powerful singles down before I even got a real drumset.
He inspired many of my drumming friends also!
There's something I love about a soft spoken guy saying "I quite like this!" in reference to any song on Iowa, lol.
HAHA Jesse!
That comment made my day LOL
😂😂
He MADE the band, in my opinion, taking metal drumming to a new place... influencing many, even non-metalheads, including my son who is now a professional drummer himself.
It's like Korn, David made the band amazing. Ray is just okay IMO.
Fantastic Sean!
Considering I'm near certain he was a founding member, he both literally and figuratively made the band
Been watching him since I was 10 I'm 21 now and I still think he is one of the greatest to ever live. Has his own style which is unreal. Nobody else compares to Joey jordison
The man is the reason I fell in love with metal!! 🤘
It’s a shame that drumcam videos/drum playthroughs weren’t that popular back then otherwise we would have so much more Joey to look at. I need to watch this dvd again now! RIP Joey 🤘🏻🔥🖤
Go watch it! Get in there :)
Once you get passed the aesthetics and stereo types you realize metal is loaded full of exceptionally talented musicians
No doubt
@@juliusraben3526 lars is a perfect example he is a master composer
@@redsnorlax1945 well, you are not really wrong. But, to refresh my memory, what other musiscians are a meme like Ullrich?
@@juliusraben3526 idk what you mean like artists as talented as him ?
People = Shit drum cam from the same show!!
I’m so glad you are doing this for Slipknot and Joey as well, you may not be versed in this genre but the excitement in your face is awesome, Slipknot as a whole has always been insane live and very tight musically. Even though Joey is gone, their new drummer Jay is pretty talented too, keep the music coming!!
#RIPJOEY we miss you brother #MAGGOTS
This has to be one! 👆
React to JAY WEINBERG 👀, (slipknots new drummer)
💯. I mean the whole damn show honestly!
I'll get to it!
I agree here. P=S fills will blow your mind
We metal music fans get a nice warm and fuzzy feeling when we turn others onto music that they wouldn't normally take a glance at. I always enjoy when other musicians give respect and credit to this type of music.
I'm very glad to be finally listening to it :)
Fuck Yeah
Fun fact, their 2nd album Iowa was recorded without a click track.
Definitely a metal album that defined a generation.
I'm sure the first album wasn't too.
I love hearing things like that. Makes the album even more intriguing for me
Were their other early albums recorded with a click track?
Joey was a huge part of Slipknot and his work made a significant improvement to my life. It sucks that he's gone, but his work will, I think, stand the test of time.
Definitely. He is unparalleled in drumming. Even Jay admitted difficulties playing Joey's stuff
@@revazascending1725 Jay also said that Skeptic was a hard song for him to play live. With all the double bass & accenting & fills in that song it's understandable.
Absolutely. The legacy remains forever
I never realized how much Joey meant for me until he passed
I feel that Diego
@@AndrewRooneyDrums fucking love your videos man keep it up
@@AndrewRooneyDrums damn you actually essentially replied to every comment damn respect
Can absolutely agree with that. Actually cried that night if im being honest
The fact that they have 9 really talented musicians with different interests and one common goal made it possible for them to explore different avenues of music without losing any of that heavy sound. It's Metal, but it's also Punk, Hip Hop, Jazz and all together created an orchestra.
Yeah, like Gehenna is has jazz influence, so does Confessions.
Yup it's great!
Dude, I can't imagine you'll get any hate for any part of this video, you're doing something very few people do: you're giving it a chance, and actually taking time to pick out the stuff you like as opposed to dismissing it out of hand. As always a great video, I love your Rush series but in general have a huge respect for people who take all music with an open ear, people who stick to one style are missing out.
I always say to people who don't like 'X' genre: You just haven't heard the artist for you yet!
Terrible way to live by having the blinders on.
Need to experience things and have a go. You are totally correct, you don't know until you try!
Man I absolutely love seeing people who finally see and hear why we LOVE Joey.
So good David!
Not to mention Corey was hammered. On the DVD of you see him go back stage and down Jack Daniels, that’s why some of the lyrics are slurred. He’s now sobered up since though.
Good to hear he's sobered up :)
@@AndrewRooneyDrums well for a time period around this era he was fucked up. Doing drugs, 3 bottles if jack Daniels a day. Corey was in a horrible place. He's much better now. Even his screaming style was fucked it destroyed his throat
Yeah, Joey was no ordinary drummer. I'm thankful for this footage we have of him. It's never too late to get into Slipknot. S/T 10th Anniversary and Iowa are a must.
The next two albums kinda lost that early magic (and Corey's voice never sounded as brutal as it did before) but still amazing albums and try out new things. Best era of Slipknot.
Yup the legacy remains thankfully
on these last albums i really enjoy Sid's and Craig's "parts", but on S/T and Iowa corey's and joey's are my most favourite. Kinda agree with you but still i find so many good things on new albums, especially brutality with these sid's samples like that some sort of siren on solway firth etc..
@@saint9049 No totally. The post Iowa stuff is still solid, in fact I was listening to Vol. 3 and AHIG today! But I didn't really dig the last album as a whole too much...maybe it will grow on me.
@@Macho_Man_Randy_Savage yess! also Red Flag is intense one and great, give it a try it's really great and hopefully someday it "clicks" for you! :D
@gene Reibelt yeah man, S/T is masterpiece i can't wait to get it on vinyl
Joey is what made me get into Slipknot. And you are right, Slipknot is a great act live. I'm happy I got to see this legend kill it a couple times. RIP Joey!
RIP
Maaaaannn I still can’t believe he’s gone :l glad to see you’re doing drum reactions towards him because he’s honestly one of my favorite drummers of all time
Me too it will take a while for me to accept that he's gone i still can't believe it, he was definitely one of the best drummers in Metal
@@xvor_tex8577 Duuuude for freaking sure!
I'm happy to be finally discovering them. Albeit under terrible circumstances
Seeing people get introduced to slipknot brings me a lot of joy lolx. There are elements that are suitable to everyone
Agree
You can see how much fun Joey was having there. Awesome showman!
Yup! For sure
I've seen them about 5 times. Slipknot was actually the first concert I ever went to. Trivium opened for them. I had never heard of them and fell instantly in love. The Shogun album is amazing. Also RIP to Joey. I've seen him play drums upside down
I'm looking forward to watching the upside down solo Travis
Slipknot was my first concert too... then came all the other ones...
Trivium played with them 2 years ago as well
rad, shogun is also my fav trivium album
That guy start playing guitar at 5 years and drums at 7
Pantera and Metallica got me interested in Heavy music. Joey Jordison's drumming with slipknot got me addicted for life.
Well said Keith!
I got to see them 3 times once in a small club for their debut album. Twice when they were touring for their 2nd album. Joey's energy up close was insane RIP Joey a true legend... One guy you need to check out is Hannes Grossman
I have done a Hannes vid!
You should check out their song "Spit it Out" performed live at Download Festival 2009. This video is of the whole band, not just Joey, but it will give you a great example of their whole stage show. They are truly a one of a kind band.
Yup I need to see the whole band now for sure
Hard agree probably one of their best performances
Watch the whole Download 2009 show, they were at their best and just before Paul Gray (bassist) passed away
Appreciate you acknowledging and respecting this incredible musicians talents with the recent videos you've done, definitely earned my sub.
RIP Joey and my condolences to all the other maggots out there.
I can't help it, i'm running tears when rewatching Joey's cams.. Insane talent and such a big part of my childhood.
I'd say Joey Jordison, Adrian Erlandsson and Tjodlav, were my most idolised and influential drummers in metal, self taught purely by ear and watching their actions then later got lessons but my tutor couldn't process what Joey was capable of.
Needless to say their drumming led me on a journey that shaped my life to push boundaries and give 110% every time
GREAT to hear!
Honestly man, when I was a in high school I thought only weirdos listened to slipknot. Had no idea what I was missing out on.
I don’t think any other album in the world can give me goosebumps ( driving in a car with the windows down in over 100 degree weather) like “Iowa” can. They are my all time favorite band!
Joey leaves a very big void in the music world. For the first time in my life, I am confronted with this feeling of what it is like to miss someone who has never been seen personally. Thank you for honoring Joey with your videos here. we all really appreciate that. Joey, we miss you and we love you. Rest in Peace!
Absolutely bloody fantastic that you're showing Joey Jordison on your channel! He was my absolute inspiration to play drums as a kid from the mid 90s. Slipknot and Joey will always be in my heart. Joey was the best and will continue to keep him close in my life. I was blessed to have met him twice at a Slipknot meet n Greet. Stay Metal and may Joey live on! RIP Joey, love you tons!
Back in my day (when i was around 13-14) this dude was a legend.. I mean, when i first saw him it was kinda unreal.. The thing is.. It still is :) He somehow connect super hardcore with incredible groove, and he still has the capacity to throw in the coolest stick tricks around.. Rest in Peace Joey!
I still genuinely think this is their best concert and will remain so. It's so hard to top what they did here, even if they are still great.
And again, I greatly appreciate you still looking into Joey's body of work. Just showing him a lot of respect and for that you have mine.
THANK YOU!
RIP Joey 🙏🤘
A gateway into heavy music can often be through watching the musicians perform the music rather than only listening to the audio.
GREAT point!
It's so good to see another musician *stank face* at the exact same points I do. Joey was world class
HAHA. Excellent Michael!
Rip Joey
RIP
House of Blues, Las Vegas, 2005. Man what a show. Thank you Joey 🙏🏻
I was there!!! They played skin ticket for the first time in a while! I have tons of pictures!
There was a point in my life during middle/highschool, or grades 6-12, that I was able to drum this entire song from memory. Loved Joey.
Got to see the boys come home to Des Moines in 2009. Easily one of the best performances I've ever seen. Joey's passing is such a tough loss, not only for the music world, but for the world as a whole. RIP. Thank you for this great reaction content to honor his legacy.
You bet Caleb!
"Get them devil horns up in the air".... proceeds to sip coffee hahah. Literally watching this man become a bigger fan with every video!
I was never into drums really, but joey literally changed the game single handedly for me. Imo hes the best performing drummer on stage period.
Awesome!
liking every joey reaction you have. brought tears to my eyes. rip joey. what a god.
Glad to hear that brother!!!
Andrew have you ever seen Meytal Cohen check out her cover of Slipknot unsainted
I love how you are so into it now compared to the first Joey vid you made 🙌🏻🙌🏻😂😂 so good literally seeing you warm up to it. I’m sure there are many more people like you who would love their music but never thought to listen and are discovering it right now. RIP Joey ❤️🔥
Joey Jordison and Jason Bittner, from shadows fall, really got me into drumming when I was in grade 9, about 20 years ago now ... .RIP Joey. You're a legend brother!
It's so amazing to see Joey doing to you, what he did to me when I was in middle school discovering them for the first time. I'm loving all these videos. Thanks again man.
Hey Andrew, A random Slipknot fan here. No hate man. Welcome to the maggot family. It's all about the music. :)
Thanks Zack!
Like I told you already in another reaction video: I have seen these guys several times live and they were killing it every time. Which is one of the reasons that until this day his signature snare is my main snare for over ten years now. I loooove the sound of his snare and it is soooo good. I am buying a Tama kit in the near future but I am still thinking of keeping his snare as my main snare. Hats off to you, good sir, for digging in. Love your reactions!
AWESOME! I have to get that snare!
Thank you so much for doing these! Joey was who got me into drumming as a teen he was absolutely phenomenal! I was absolutely gutted at the news of his passing. Would love more Slipknot/Joey reactions. May he RIP, your music will live on forever legend 🖤🔥
Been a fan for over 20 years man. The shock is unreal.
I have to say just watching someone fall in love with their music never gets old. Welcome, maggot!
Haha! Thanks Chris
The simple fact that his double bass has some imperfections in this video are a testament to him doing everything's himself instead of drum tracks or major assistance of any kind.
You get my sub for all the Joey love! Seriously this is a perfect example of, once you get passed the initial preconceived notions of what you think it will be at face value, and truuuully truly hear the music and see the talent and see them for what and who they really are, it’s just undeniable man, and the fact that you’ve been open minded and recognized this so quick!? Amazing brother, amazing… Joey is without a doubt the best drummer of our generation!! He’s been my idol since I was 12 years old, am 31 now.. nuff said. Great video brother! Welcome to the maggot family!
Not a drummer, but I love your content on UA-cam. Always positive and open- minded. I am a huge Slipknot fan and glad you liked both the drumming and music. Their music helped me trough some difficult times. Joey's passing hit me and other maggots(Slipknot's nickname for their fans) hard.
I'm new to your channel and I'm already a fan! I've been a lifelong Slipknot fan. Joey inspired me at a young age to pick up the sticks. I'm so glad you've found a liking to their craft. They really were a world-class act! A 9-piece band is a crazy concept, but for it to work the way it did... Unreal! They were a great outlet for kids with troubled homes, they welcomed everyone and wanted all the fans to be one big family and to look out for each other. Thanks again for doing these videos!
Loving all the Joey love! The IOWA album was one of the most important albums of my formative teen years. If you ever get a chance to see them absolutely do it even if you don't like or love the music the stage show is second to none. I can't wait for them to get back to Canada.
Slipknot put on a hell of a show; great stage presence. I saw them once in 2009 just after the release of All Hope Is Gone. One of my favorite concerts to date.
I'm glad i'm not the only one that makes the 'stank face' when the drumming gets real.
It's really neat to see you do these videos as I've been watching you for awhile (first time commenting). Joey Jordison is the #1 reason why I got into drums and begged my parents for a set around 20 years ago, haha. Slipknot was also my gateway into extreme technical music. Without Joey I would be a totally different person today. He'll truly be missed by so many who influenced them in the same way.
Joey was notably nervous during the recording of this show and as the band went on throughout the years Joey's drumming live became even tighter and more impressive
One of the most badass thing is reacting to one of the most heaviest songs while drinking coffee lol
I’ve always associated SL with heavy and direct groove. High-energy metal. I feel their biggest asset was songwriting ability, paired with the ability to ‘stuff’ technical and powerful in the key transitions.
In the end, their live power, presence and tightness defines their legacy. Doesn’t matter much how talented you are if you can’t translate that emotion to the audience watching. They had it by the truckload.
Great reaction. No need for apologies…because it’s your reaction and no one else’s.
Thank you so much Justin
No one will hate you it only brings us extreme happiness to see someone start to experience slipknot especially joey
Great video and honestly it's made my day that your starting to enjoy slipknot and becoming a fellow maggot! You've just gained yourself a subscriber my friend
Awesome! Thank you!
Andrew, Joey was a huge inspiration to my life as a musician and as a person. The speed, dynamics, subdivisions, and speed was absolutely unmatched, especially for the time. He will forever be a legend and he's brought me to your amazing channel. Big up for more Joey Jordison cam vids!
Love to see that you are enjoying this. Listening to them back in high school brings back a lot of good memories.
the crazy thing is this energy is the through the whole show
This is my favorite song by them and I NEVER get tired of hearing it
Check out Creeping death with Metallica Joey cam. There´s a great demonstration of the drummer he was. RIP maestro #1
^ This! ^
Yup, that is a good one, it shows that with just a few hours of rehearsing he was able to drive Metallica, even on a kit that was setup for Lars Ulrich, so totally different than Joey's setup.
i was thinking the same: he should check what he did to metallica, haha
His style gets the blood pumping just right. He is the reason I got into drumming. Hero’s get remembered but legends never die!!!
Glad you’re enjoying them homie. Joey was awesome. Spit it Out - Live at Download 2009 is arguably one of their best live performances ever. There’s not a drum cam for Joey but he’s pretty killer in that one too.
I had the Disasterpieces DVD as a kid, and the show blew my mind. Sure, the lyrics especially from the Iowa songs are juvenile AF and so edgy (tm), but still... this brings back some memories.
Awesome!
his solo in sulpher is next level.
Thanks Ben. I'll try and check it out!
Joey has always been a hug inspiration to me growing up. I've listened to Slipknot since I was 5 years old and I've been drumming the same amount of time. They are my favorite band of all time above other bands. I finally got to see Slipknot in 2015 and it was amazing. Sad that Joey wasn't part of it. Thanks for doing this and im glad they caught your attention.
I started play to drums because of Joey. He's the greatest of all time for me. Rest easy, sir! So glad that you doing this videos about Joey, amazing. Thank you

I was at this gig in 2001 and first time I heard this song. That clean double bass breakdown is what made me rush out and buy an iron cobra double kick peddle. I didn’t see them again until 2019 which obviously wasn’t Joey but as a band amazing live!
Get listening to the albums - they’re like a fine wine mate they just get better and better!! Welcome to Slipknot.
Fucking Masterpiece. R.I.P JOEY for eternity through his music!
This one bangs!
If you ever get the chance to see them live I highly recommend you do so. Hands down one of the best bands to see live. I've seen em 4 times now 5th show coming up soon can't wait!
The main reason I've listened to them since their 1st album was because of Joey's drumming. Only saw them live once at Ozzfest 2001 and this was the song they closed with. Still my favorite live performance to this day
They closed with surfacing
@@TheIcpfan23 Maybe at the show you went to, but not at the show I went to. Ozzfest was a tour, not an event
@@bwestacado9643 they always closed with surfacing during point in time.
@@TheIcpfan23 Dude, they closed out their set with Heretic Anthem because they were starting to promote Iowa. I doubt we were the 1st to hear the song, but the only time I've seen them live was Ozzfest 2001 and the 1st time I heard Heretic Anthem was Ozzfest 2001. You really think no bands ever deviate or do you truly believe every show gets the exact same set every time?? That's nowhere near the case. Not only were they beginning to promote Iowa, but Ozzfest had maybe 6 shows left by the time they came to us and Slipknot had a headlining tour starting up right after. Hmmm....upcoming tour....upcoming album....whatever could a musical act do to promote it. Hmmmm. Basically, just because you had an experience doesn't mean I had the same experience. Wait till you find out that we probably didn't even have the same lineup for Ozzfest that you did lmao
Now you have to go through his Drum solo in this same show and get your mind blown away.
As soon as you hear Slipknot for the first time, the drumming jumps out at you. Way above average.
Yup REALLY good
@@AndrewRooneyDrums if you’re not already aware, Joey left the band some years ago and there are a few albums with a different, less impressive drummer.

15 year old me. My First ever live gig. Slipknot, American head charge and in flames @ Manchester evening news Arena. Watching joey spin on the pentagram during his solo was a massive omg wtf moment. Great times. 👌 R.i.p joey. 😞
I have a feeling he secretly dreads this song. He was definitely pushing himself to the limit on those kicks. He nearly lost it there.
Especially in 2008 - 2013 concerts he couldn't do Double bass nicely, and with triggers it was just bad.
Fricking awesome! He was absolutely amazing! RIP Joey🌹
Yes Amanda! 🙌
Wasn't a really big Slipknot fan but I am a huge JJ fan. Rest in Power brother. Thanks Andy for doing this tribute-esk video. Joey was a phenomenal drummer and will live in metal infamy! 🤘🎶🥁
its been a while and i still cant stand that joey isnt with slipknot anymore. love him and this band so much. keep rocking! love these videos
When i saw them live YEARS ago i was blown away by the intense power. I'm a guitarist, so i tend to pay more attention to tone, and what those guys are doing. Joey's thunderous live, i could feel those kicks in my gut.
The stick twirls at 3:20ish always make me smile, dude was feeling this shit
Your respect for joey is epic. For someone who had never heard of slipknot , thank you for your respect , and honoring him with a watch worthy review.
This is what metal is ! When you listen it for the first time, its clearly an agression but you dig it and continue to listen and then you are inside the vibe and love that !
So a cool thing about Joey is that he was really into jazz, actually cites Buddy Rich as one of his main influences.
Was going to suggest this to you after I watched your Disasterpiece vid but much to my enjoyment you've already done it :)
I remember the day I first heard slipknot. It was just an ordinary day. I wasn't looking for new music. It just came on. My hair....stood up on my arms. I gave it a second listen. I laughed out loud with joy. It was so exciting. I shared it with my metal friends. They had similar experiences. Slipknot certainly opened a new door in the music world. Metal bands seems to have ways of doing that dont they? 🤘 Thank you Andrew. What an absolutely awesome tribute to Joey.
I'm glad you are enjoying Slipknot :)
HELL YEAH
The combination of Joey and The Neck just made Slipknot something special.
This guy shaped my drummer career and changed my fuckin LIFE!!!! That part your talking about "open handed", yeah, he's hitting the high-hat with his right hand and then dropping it on the snare as he hits the highhat with his left hand. Miss playing to these songs!!!!!
