Love the ending speech and the ending. Good stuff. Redemption and Legacy was already a huge part of DD1 so i am glad the second continues in this vein. It also looks better than the online negativity had me led to believe.
It's really good but not as fun as DD1 imo. There's enough new and interesting stuff that it's worth it though. And thanks, I'm really proud of that little ending lol
I like the way you edit. I also respect the Odd clip where he got wrecked. You had my follow ever since ONI but I guess I'll be sticking around for longer.

The way you feel about the Jester is how I feel about the Flagellant. He's just way too tough to kill. If you find a Thrilling Tablet and he's in Maniac, you don't need your party. More! MORE! is clutch, plays great as the off-tank support.
Flagellant is one of my favorites in both DD 1&2. I'm still getting to know him better since he came out so late.

I like this style of gameplay review, in depth enough to give people a decent idea of gameplay mechanics and tips with quick cut jokes and asides. Bible black? A man of culture I see 😂.

I mean it was enough to get me interested in trying darkest dungeon 2, even though I kinda bounced off the first one; so that's gotta be worth something
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I was worried my editing was too fast this time around so that's nice to hear. I love both DD1 and 2 in very different ways. It's really weird that DD2 is way less grindy than DD1 but also way more grindy in other ways. If you like games like this I'd suggest checking out Irratus: Lord of the Dead. It strikes a great balance between these 2 games and has a ton of charm.

great video, really fun to watch and I'm glad you're sticking with this format :3
2 things though. The intro was maybe a little on the long side, but it was still funny so that's not too important. I would have liked if you spent a bit more time on different mechanics and just talked about them a bit more, almost felt like stuff like tokens were kind of glossed over and not talked about as much they could have been. The part where you summarised the characters was great though, really enjoyed that.
A few more visual edits (like in the oxygen not included video with for example, the parrot going "hat" as you mention hats for your duplicates) is something I missed a bit, but that could also just be me and what I enjoy.
I had the same feeling about the intro. Probably could have cut a line without losing impact. While editing I realized how lucky I was to have the shorts to use for gags. I wanted to put not of the little memes in but I was really trying to get this done within a deadline. The editing felt a lot faster this time too and I didn't leave as many spaces for those little jokes. It's something I'm keeping in mind for the next one. Thanks so much for the feedback!!!
I don't understand how you only have 11K subscribers. I found your channel yesterday and since then i couldn't stop myself from watching the entirety of Noita and Stardew Valley reviews. I hate that I agree, but I'm glad they tried something different. There's a lot of good parts here but it never quite becomes the cohesive whole that DD1 was.
I actually like DD2 as much as DD1 maybe because I haven’t finished it and has yet to age as a fine wine. Even if the game is arguably flawed in some aspect, the relationship and the story of the characters is something that is darkest dungeon at it’s prime
I don’t think it’s less « good » I just think it won’t become a classic like dd1 did
I wish more people would try to change things as they did

When I would play DD1 and get a mental break from a party member, it felt like everybody in the party internally thought "fuck this guy", glad to know the madmen at Red Hook decided to make that a feature with the relationship system.
Also I'm so glad they didn't bring Antiquarian (or however her class is spelled) back, literally what purpose did she serve in the original? Rest in piss.
There's a lot of great ideas that just don't come together in DD2s format. Also the Antiquarian allowed items to stack higher in DD1. High risk, high reward. They were great but very very circumstantial.

Yea, I wish I liked the game more. But I'm not very good at it at all, and after many many failed runs, failing again and again. It's really hard to pick the game up again.
I love the combat, sometimes... and the game looks and sounds great. But when I lose a guy on the final part before the boss after like, 3 hours.... yea, I can't go on with some random character that doesn't fit in my party.
It makes me sad, because I loved DD1.
Yeah I feel the same way. The individual parts here are amazing, but something just doesn't quite add up. I still love that they took a rush and tried stunning different. If they do a 3rd I hope they take the lessons from this cuz there's so much right here.

After I got better at DD2 I realized she's actually amazing. I did her dirty in this video because skill issue.
i fully believe dd2 is a prequel to dd1, it just feels thematically correct to have it be that heroes who solved a regional threat are just one of hundreds who arrive at the hamlet to solve an outright world ending threat that was hidden beneath the earth. (although, dd2's would've become a world ending threat if left to fester for much longer) it also follows a Lovecraftian style perfectly, the horror of dd2 being solved and the respite it provides being so completely paled by the hell ahead makes me want to kiss the air in awe of how well its executed

@@omegaheartless OH! Yeah he JUST got added as DLC character a little while back. When I made this he was 100% absent. And, yeah, that jerk rolled klepto in my DD1 games a lot too.

I wouldn't call it terrible by any means. Underwhelming, maybe. They tried something different and it didn't live up to the 1st game. I think it's important that devs try to iterate and evolve their formulas but there was just something here that didn't add up to the sum of its parts.
