I agree. However, I've been asking for decades on the net for various games, "I don't care about the meta, what is the most FUN class (build, loadout, etc.) to play?" In fairness, I usually get answers.
I've done couple of fresh account challenge runs by now beating the 3 Acts we had consecutively and in addition to Shuffle's points I wanna share my experience regarding candle management: - You can beat the game just with the starter crew and they will do extremely fine especially now that GR was buffed immensely - Getting the first path on PD, HWM and GR is cheap and helps a lot. For MAA you can wait until Act 3 to get immediately Bulwark - Working on a core crew of 3 (PD, HWM, MAA) and unlocking their skills and paths will make future runs with newer characters significantly easier - Healing salve and non-mold buff food are very important. After that, some trinkets and some inn items should be unlocked for every run since they land immediately in the inventory and can be used. The trinkets can be a strong boost for the first region while the inn items are crucial for relationship management - 1st point is resourcefulness is good value - +1 max armor & wheel from Journey is very crucial to get after the first run. Not only will it reduce the amount of repair battles but also finally unlock the 3pips effects
I’m about 10 hours in the game - and didn’t realize until watching this video that I have to pay to unlock the additional heroes at the altar of hope! I kept waiting for them to unlock during gameplay. Thanks as always shuff for teaching idiots like me some basic info!
this happened to me with the trinkets and the inn/combat items. I played 10 hours straight and was wondering why the moldy plate is the only food item the game seems to have 💀
Just finished redownloading the game now that it's officially out and i've been binge watching your content for a while, just wanted to say that your guides helped me a lot in DD1 and i know im gonna have a good time following ya, cheers!
I'm new playing. As a new player and in early game at least, for combat Items, I have found the "caltrops" very useful to deal with the dodge and shield tokens.
2:52 "You can swap grave robber, she is probably the worst one... she is definitely the worst one out of these four" must have hurt saying that, as a GR fan 🥲
I enjoyed just doing paths mostly and adding a few stagecoach/trinkets/combat items every run where possible. The occasional skin or pet mixed in now and then so you're constantly having new things to play with is a good way to go.
Thanks so much for your help! I totally missed the Coast area of the shrine, and found those boosts to be super useful (especially additional armor and wheels on your coach… a huge game changer).
I think is better to max journey and resourcefulness first then get some inn items, some trinkets, some combat items, and some stagecoach items, and some heroes you like and prioritize the altars of hope to unlock their skills. And honestly I feel its better to just do Denial act over and over beating it. because the time it takes, you can do 2 of those that give more or less 60 candles per run while act 2 gives just 20 candles more for completing it and takes a bit less than double the time and its harder so you might fail a lot and not even get the full 80 and end up with 15 after the same time you spent in the first one, until you get those hero paths, better trinkets, upgrades etc. very grind heavy game.
i got it! it's kicking my ass but i got it. i was gonna wait, but couldn't resist the Iron Crown bundle discount. Price was very reasonable for my country, Redhook is awesome.
Fundamentally the game is doing the same thing over and over. Enjoyment through being able to pick the details of that repetition is important if you’re gonna want to continue playing at all. Spot on dude
For new players I'd suggest unlocking all heroes, because they're not going to know who they like best until they try all of them. Even returning DD1 players will be surprised by certain things like Flag being blight instead of bleed this time around. The first thing after that for new players should be Intrepid Coast's Journey and Resourcefulness upgrades. Those will give a lot of little, general improvements that will help new players through EVERY run as they continue to learn the game mechanics.
I wish they had a radiant flame track like the infernal flame track. Something that is like the already radiant flame but makes the game even easier - for those of us that aren't gud enough. candle dump, sure, but if thats what you want is an easier time then dump away.
I did two runs so far. 1 win. Spent all candles so far in upgrades. After my 3rd run, hopefully I will have enough to unlock BH, jester, and flagellent. Meta whore I know, but they are genuinely the coolest characters in the game imo.
I'd love a guide on how to maintain positive relationships. Been struggling with keeping everyone happy with each other, and the downsides of negative relationships can be run ending sometimes.
Already on the fourth act, but I am still very confused if it's better to have less but more consistent options for items or maxing them out and still retaining consistency. So for example let's say I already have healing salves and a few relationship inn items, is it worth maxing out the items if that will only thin the chance of getting said items? Another issue is the pet system, since you get a random selection of three pets at the first inn, so maxing pets will only lessen the chance I get the pup? Finally the working field unlocks appear to stay for your next run which can give you a really nice early advantage, if I finish unlocking everything will I still be able to use the gacha for my runs? Clarifying these points would be greatly appreciated.
Its frusrating to say this, but: These are pointless questions, because the game is obviously made to be played with everything unlocked. Sure you can min-max in silly ways like stopping the unlocks of the combat items if you immadietly get a good one, but like, you are purposefully not playing the game in that case
I'm lucky i got flaggelant and used him in blight team and got atacked by death i got the her trinket. Then i got to the mountain and beat first boss well pd and gr died but weel 70+ hope was worth it
@@pubefaceIV focus more on gathering candles at first, and unlocking skills than on winning. Try to go as far as you can. :) If I can do it, you can as well. There's no punishment for going "Nope." and abandoning a run if it's going badly.
If you liked the gameplay aspects of DD1, this game is great. It is missing most of the ressource management/Base management from DD1 however. I was personally also skeptical anout the more Roguelite nature of DD2, but very pleasantly surprised by the game. It for sure gives the "one more run" vibes of a good Roguelike/-lite
Ive gone up against obsession only once but ive viewed a lot of older tutorials on how to help with the first phase setup (Taunting one guy and letting them get all the debuffs). But in the 1.0 release it looks like taunting no longer works? So is there a work around not getting the "seen" debuff on all my guys pretty much making limerance a party wipe? I was even doing well until i got -100% healing recieved. My only ideas of working around limerance is to stack dodge+ or have vestal with the party heal, but those two both seem really unreliable... You can move the eyes or your party around and play whack a mole until all the tokens are on the desired people. It'll kill your party if it hits all 4 repeatedly, but it's manageable if you can get it to stick to 1 or 2 people. After that you have to rush as much damage as possible. Controlled burn can be really good since the boss gets 2 actions a turn to ramp it up. Weaken from leper/hellion/occultist is also good.

It’s funny going from Shuffle to Randy Potato and hearing them give almost opposite advice of character paths and party comps
I hope your channel becomes synonymous with DD2, like luetin for 40ktube, alongside the game's release from early access

Lmao maybe! There are a few other good ones in there but salve is the best.
