    Had my 200 series tuned last week with a fairly low key towing tune, made 185kw and 650nm at the wheels running 33s. Very happy with UDT.

      v8 greg I’m about to book my 200 in for the etc remap, soot clean and catch can installation. Still haven’t decided about the engine remap, is there a noticeable difference when towing and economy with the remap? If I go the remap all up I’m in the vicinity 5.5k so I have to choose carefully.

    Like a kid in a candy store when it's time to look at taking it for a test drive. How good are these guys!? We love our tune they did for us, made a 100,000km truck a beast and better fuel economy and towing is day and night from the factory tune too

    I had my 200 series remapped a couple of months ago and the results were pretty similar to Shauno's tune. The 93% increase in torque, especially on the low rev range, and a more immediate throttle response is the one I'm after. It's a better drive on and off-road.

    The key to 'Tuning' is so simple:
    1.Blind the client with science
    2.Clean out the engine intake - this takes time and makes the client think you know your stuff!
    3.Faff about with lots of computers, this is very important to justify a huge bill.
    4.When the client goes out for a bacon sarnie, quickly remove a few gallons of fuel and replace with high octane aviation fuel.
    5.Demonstrate the new huge power gains on the dyno!
    6.Get the bill paid and watch another happy client drive off with his extra performance........

    I've always wondered, when they're dyno tuning a vehicle with a snorkel, how much difference it would make if they had road speed air going over the snorkel head?. Having the ram-air effect from a proper snorkel, or drawing from the low pressure turbulence behind a backward stainless one.

    • @gaj5701
      @gaj5701 5 років тому +1

      Almost no measurable difference in a standard setup, unless you've heavily modified the filter & found a straight path to the inlet.

    • @tareskisloki8579
      @tareskisloki8579 5 років тому

      @@gaj5701 I've heard that said a lot, but I'd be really interested to see it demonstrated, unfortunately dyno shops generally don't have a second fan they can task to blow at the snorkel, so nobody does it.

    • @gaj5701
      @gaj5701 5 років тому +4

      @@tareskisloki8579 I'm an automotive design engineer & the whole intake system on a production vehicle is designed to operate consistently in almost any situation. Think about the diffusion & restriction of increased intake pressure through the bends in pipes, various diameters of pipework, filter box, any damping chambers, the turbo, intercooler, split in the manifold & you have virtually no perceptible increase in pressure left. Ram air systems are designed around that specific principle to be effective, however all we do is modify the initial intake of an existing system which is designed for consistency so it has no real effect.

    My understanding of NCOP suggests that any vehicle which produces >20% increase in Power and Torque, over the factory specifications, needs to be Blue Plated in Qld. Is the cost of Blue Plating included in the Custom Tune when they exceed 20% increase in Power & Torque? Or does everyone just turn a blind eye to the fact that they are now potentially driving a vehicle that is no longer insured, because it's 'technically' not Roadworthy?

      It doesn't take 3guys & 8hrs to dyno tune a engine. The cleaning of the manifold is another story.

    Wonder about businesses in USA, TX that can do something like this with a Duramax LML after deleting. Another great video.

    Hey, I’ve got a question regarding power for my diesel
    Would my turbo spool faster with a smaller or larger diameter exhaust pipe?
    Thanks in advance

    Awesome mate, from memory you had a unichip, how did it compare from one another?

    Just saw this video, now wondering at which point to you get a Dyno tune for a vehicle? Is when you have finished getting aftermarket parts on the vehicle, EG - 3" Exhaust, intercooler, catch can, transmission cooler, platform roof rack etc. or can you get it done at anytime?

    Hey Shaun,
    I recall you had a unichip fitted a while ago . Was that the q4 adjustable 5 tune one that is dyno tuned?
    Did you not rate it or just prefer the one tune flash tune option ? I am still undecided between the two options

    Getting better fuel economy from your foot is great . But does it improve the overall economy of the engine.

    Do they only do this on turbo charged diesels? How about naturally aspirated petrols? I have a '96 80 Series Landcruiser 4.5L petrol. Can they do an ECU-remap on it?
