Tremendo trabajo, mejor que muchos “profesionales”, que belleza de motor y transmisión. Un trabajo para sentirse orgulloso de haberlo logrado además con tanta precisión, te felicito
Where can I go to learn to do this stuff? I’ve never worked on cars but have wanted to since I was young… I‘ve watched videos for years, geeking over E30s and 28’s, Volvo redblocks, 4Runners, Land Cruisers… with a full time job, tackling anything like this seems impossible, but it’s always been a dream of mine to work on cars, know them inside and out, and make them special. Is it possible to buy a vehicle, buy the tools, and dive in with nothing but UA-cam videos? Is that a recipe for disaster or adventure?
It's harder today because even crappy cars are expensive. I started off with a Nissan Stanza that I traded computer parts for. It didn't run and I basically learned how to get it running by messing up repeatedly and then sold it for $500 after all of my BS fixes. Then I bought a Nissan 240SX for a project car and learned everything I could from that. Scrolled on forumboards going through build threads until like 4AM for a year and then started trying it myself. I have some really old videos going over that lol
Здравствуйте,купил такой авто,сам сменить не умею,стараюсь перевести его в хорошее состояние,пока только купил))),ченить буду позже как накоплю денег)))
Jump in, try something cheap and basic for a vehicle slowly build your tool chest you have time. Do not go cheap on torque wrench, floor jack or stands - ever. Use a wheel chock too. You tube, internet and buy factory repair manuals, read like it’s prep for a test because it is. Forums and questions be the newbie we all have been. Like what you experienced? Take a few courses, welding etc. you can do it!
Removing and rebuilding was the best choice, anything else would be false economy, mileage is irrelevant, however age is detrimental to seals and gaskets due to the number of heat cycles. You made the right decision, and nice work by the way.
You wouldn't happen to have a parts list of what's needed to do this would you? Your video was extremely helpful and I'm about to do this myself but trying to order everything ahead of time. Thanks!
This is a great watch. Ive got decisions to make at the moment as my 80 series looks like it needs a head gasket, but I could go for a full refresh instead.
Hi Ricky! What timing. Your channel and this particular video showed up on my feed two days ago and I’m glad it did. Just had my 1988 Fj62 diagnosed with a bad rod on the number 4 cylinder today. After watching your video I’ve half way convinced myself I can do this. Maybe even install a H55 5 speed! Need to locate parts. If you have any leads you can drop my way that would be awesome. Thanks again for making these videos.
Wonderful to see, The cliks of the bolts are e feast for the ears, Now i have a problem with my 80 It wont idle any more and misfires Black smoke Changed the feul after being stored for 2 years Also the filter and pressure regulator, No CEL Somebody can assist me? Thx
I'm not sure if it has increased power or not because I didn't drive it much with the old engine. I would imagine it's slightly more peppy, but probably not by much.
Nice video and great work on the rebuild. Did you bore it out or just clean up the cylinder walls? If you did bore it, did you notice any power differences?
I've been building my 94 pretty much along side yours, making similar upgrades. Any reason you kept the Pair Reed valve instead of relocating the O2 sensors?
@ Thanks, I ran across your other video of you removing them 👍🏼 Did you install new trans isolator and engine isolators, makes a huge improvement if the current ones are worn?
@@RM_Garage Good deal👍👍. Yeah funny how that is, these are old videos. not real old, but 1-2 years old now, but I'm hooked on the LC80 development project.
Just keep taking care of it as long as you can. Head gasket will go eventually but could be thousands of miles from now! Could’ve even already been done!
That's a lot of work .But for toyota master tech for over 30 years, I do see a major mistake made you use the old rod bolts and cilinder head That is a problem waiting for a you drive that truck for less said 10,000 miles, pull the valve cover, and you are going to find loose bolts on the heads they are a 1 time use Do not reuse, and so are the rod bolts they snap under high rpm and loads
insane amounts of work, patience, and precision to accomplish this. thanks for posting the montage, awesome
Good for another 300K! awesome job!!!

Huge amount of work put into this thing. Impressive timeline too 😉
You did an amazing job there ❤ these engines are bullet proof they run for ever 💪
Great Work, both editing and rebuilding the truck 👍
Thanks!

Hard hard work and lots of hours. No easy way to learn anything difficult

@@RM_Garagehow do you remember where each nut and bolt goes after a couple of days?

Beautiful video mate.
Awesome thanks a lot for documenting!
Awesome man! Great work

That's a crazy good rebuild. My LC is at 278k and leaking oil from just about every seal so I may be following along your build videos sometime soon.
Thank you!

My oga sir ❤❤
No better iron available.
Well done!
Incredible!!!!!
Impressive!!
Wow! Amazing job! Wanna rebuild the fzj80 for me! 😁
Thanks! Haha, I'm burnt out!
Great video. Which machine shop did you use?
Thanks! Dave’s Performance Engineering located in Fresno, CA.

Check wits end and also just source from Toyota. I use toyotapartsdeal and partsouq often.
Subbed, I want to do this to my 80 series soon as well. Cant wait to watch the 12 part series. Awesome vid dude.
what a great video! thanks for making it.... how has your engine block paint job held up? what products did you use?
Love It!

Never seen one this clean inside they changed the oil on interval. How does it run since the refresh. Did you notice increased power.
I'm not sure if it has increased power or not because I didn't drive it much with the old engine. I would imagine it's slightly more peppy, but probably not by much.
How much did it cost your parts-wise? And how many hour of labor?
Nice video and great work on the rebuild. Did you bore it out or just clean up the cylinder walls? If you did bore it, did you notice any power differences?
Thanks. It was bored .020 over. Didn’t notice much but didn’t drive it a lot beforehand

I lived in CA at the time. Not allowed there. Now I’m in Idaho and will remove it.
I like the way u explain but plz l would like to know the torque for all the bolts
Did all 8 of your engine isolator bracket bolts come out easy?
Yeah, no issue removing them.
@
Thanks, I ran across your other video of you removing them 👍🏼

5:57 What is the name of that part and what is its function?
BTW, didn;t mention this before, but your girlfriend sounds like a keeper, out there cleaning off the engine and removing parts, that's cool.
Yep I married her!

EXCENTE trabajo saludos desde Argentina
I wish i had the knowledge to do this. My lx450 is at 280k, i suspect this is coming at some point

2:55😳
This engine probably overheated in its past life?
How else to explain the bad seals?
رائع
Yeah 15 minutes ,
We’re you taking the piss brother
More
Ike several days and that’s in a really rush,
It’s a compilation. This took weeks
you can not drive a iron block engine cold or you will have so many leaks it will never end you have to warm the engine at least 5 minutes
muito bom
How much
The price is in another video of mine called “how much does it cost to build a land cruiser” Check the channel videos
why would you rebuild without giving it a proper turbo&&&&777

I didn’t reuse the head bolts
How can I contact you? I‘m an engine supplier from China.
Check my UA-cam channel page. Has an email there.
