I paid over 300$ to have change my front door lock, on top of that the man damaged the wooden part, and took about 2 hours to do the work, because the first time he did it wrong.

now I can go ahead and change the knob in my bedroom, with a knob that has a key on one side. I only find that the two screws on the knob base are hard to catch with a screw driver. Thanks great video really.
Mine had a set screw on the underside of handle. Had to get on here and refresh my memory at 65 and appreciate the advice and photo. Thanks Some do have the underside set screw just so ya'll know. older style door knobs.

It is hard to get someone to change knobs. I look at your teaching of how to change a knob made it easy. Thank you so much, it was very helpful.
for those who care about the looks : choose a knob with a bigger rosette (the round metal part that covers the hole in the door) than the one that you remove to avoid exposing the round scratches the previous knob inevitably leaves like you can see in this very helpful video tutorial. sometimes rosettes can be sold separately.

Thank you so much for this video. I am on my own I have changed them before but not for a long time. The instructions were not clear at all. I had a really hard time getting the screws lined up the inside. What I did was take a pencil and mark where it should be. Your video is really good I thank you very much.

I wish I had seen this video earlier when I tried replacing the door knob at my house. Tried a new doorknob I bought and it was too short, and I had no idea it could extend out so I ended up returning it to the store. Plus the employee there didn't mention anything about it being adjustable...I guess UA-cam wins again. :P

I am having problems lining the screws up, but i wont let it beat me lol, thanks for your calm explanation, I was having trouble because the square centre pin was pushed in a bit so it wasn't catching on the inside door knob. Great video :)
+Teena Hawkins I just installed my second one and it was much easier, although with both doors I had to use sandpaper on a length of curtain rod to make the hole a little bigger to fit the new mechanism in, even though they were the same size lol.

i am not a handyman by any stretch imagination.have hard time changing lightbulb.been have issues other people that have keys come into my home.tried fix other ways this was the next idea.thanks video couldn't do this without this video or a similar vid.not easy for someone like me to do this by self.really hard to line up long screws.spent like 5 hours trying to change locks couldn't complete job.this video was helpful.i brought over a handyman friend he got it done in minutes

Thanks for the video. I have one that the striker is stuck and wouldn't release by turning the knob. Know I know this is a relatively easy project and don't need to hire someone. Will post how the job goes. Again, thanks for the tutorial.
