Same here too. A few times I would try to help (I'm unsure if I asked or he offered), and he'd get so impatient that it was just better for me and him that I not be present. He did a lot of car repairs and gardening for my family growing up, but I have none of his skills. I wish I did. I just didn't know the importance.
Thank you for your vids! These are much needed tutorials even with kids that had their parents. I study overboard so my parents are not by my side and I had no idea how to change a doorknob. I didn’t want to bother them too much so thank you 🙏🏿 the ‘how to unclog a sink and bathtub’ vids are also really really helpful ( girls with long hairs always clog the sinks) .
I just discovered this channel, and as an adult child of a father who was always too drunk or wrapped up in his own baggage to teach us anything useful, this is so helpful. Thanks so much UA-cam Dad!
I am a 40 yrs old woman, who is also learning with you how to do stuff!!! Thank you so much, specially for teaching all the children and the adults without parents.
Just wanted to share how much I depend on and value your videos. As a single mom to a little man, I learn everything from you and hope I can one day show my son these essential how-to’s. ❤️🌈
My dad died this year and although I didn’t have a relationship with him, it was painful to mourn a relationship I never had. The whole point of your channel is so incredibly sweet. It really does help. Watching your videos is super comforting. Thank you!
My dad died last year, I know how you feel, I had somewhat of a relationship with mine, but not as much as I wish I did, it's a painful feeling wishing to have that kind of relationship, my dad was an incredible man, and idk who your's was, but it's possible that could've been the same way, I'm so sorry for your loss
You probably get a million comments like this, but my dad refuses to teach me anything. This video is a lifesaver for me since he won't fix the bathroom door; thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for creating this channel. My old dad was abusive and was an addict. He never taught me anything good, so knowing I have this channel to rely on is really comforting. :)
I love my dad but when he tried to show me how to do things growing up, he was not the most patient person so I didn't often ask to watch or help with his projects even though I always wanted to help. I love how patient you are and explain things even though they seem obvious. Thanks, dad!
My mom and dad split when I was young. My dad decided to only come into the picture a couple days every few years. Mom was always working so hard just to put a roof over our heads. I never got the opportunity to learn valuable life skills like the ones you've taught me. I really can't thank you enough for what you do. Thank you.
This guy is very helpful to me. Just so you know, I lost my dad when I was 9 then my mom left to work abroad so that she can raise me and send me to school. I was left to live with my relatives which was a bad descision as they didnt treated me well because they know that I dont have a dad that will protect me. I never felt them as a family and I felt that I was all alone no one to teach me stuff like these, manly stuff. It is very emotional that I found out about this channel. God bless you.
Video title: How to change a door knob. My ad: A trailer about a guy robbing a bank. UA-cam: Is this ad related to the current video? Me: Oh UA-cam you sassy thing.. of course it is!
I. Just. Learned of these videos. I'm a mom of 6 and I'm bowling my eyes out. I can barely see to type. Sir, you have NO idea how much this is not just helping kids but helping single moms as well. My husband left us when my children were young and it's been sooooo hard being mom and dad. As kids get older especially boys, They wanna be able to help mom and be the "man of the house" and they need a man aka father figure to look up too. Thank You for being here for my boys and All children around the world who ask "dad, how do I..."
Thank you so much ! My dad hasn’t lived with my family since I was 13 and I finally bought my own place and when I asked him if he could help me remodel and fix certain things in the house he said he couldn’t. I knew it was because of his girlfriend. She won’t let him come to my house because I asked my mom to come and live with me . So thank you for making this channel. I’ll be watching you ❤️😬 !
Yo, I actually did this yesterday and Took me a while and some research, I was thinking on Asking you Dad! But sadly you weren't available at the moment :( Glad now you taught you Many Children to do this!
I lost my dad when I was 12 and he never got the chance to teach me most of the things you've posted about. I'm so appreciative of you and your channel. Thank you ❤😢
Thank you for these videos. You are so sweet. I actually have to chance my doorknob but wasn't really sure how. I lost my Dad on 9/11 and it has always been a struggle trying to figure things out that my Dad didn't get a chance to teach me.
Thank you very much for making these types of videos. Since I lost my dad a couple of years ago, being the only man at home has not been easy. I appreciate everything: ') ❤️
The tip about the golf tee when the screws won't hold is so helpful too, thats the problem I've experienced, so that will help me a lot, thanks so much!
Changed the door knob in my bathroom once. Not sure what I did wrong but that’s how I learned my wife can physically break down a door...split the whole damn thing. 😂
It's so hard sometimes. It's so hard to know what to do and how to stay sane. And the more hard it gets, the more is easy to be impatient, unkind, with myself and others. This man, this dad helps a lot. Because for all the hurt my own biological father did to me, this helps me find peace, and feel loved, even just a little bit. Thank you.
This is the greatest channel! My Dad passed away long ago when I was just a little girl. Even though I'm old now, these tutorials are just great and so appreciated! Thank you!
Thank you so much for all your work!!! Thanks to this video I was able to change my doorknob because asking my father it’s a fight since “he works and I need to figure out thing by myself” Thanks virtual dad!
I just want to say how much I appreciate what you're doing. I lost my dad at a very young age, and it feels nice to at least have someone to teach me about this stuff. So I thank you
Thank you. I lost my dad and because of his illness he never had the energy to fix the doorknobs in our house, let alone to teach me how to do it. Now I will try to do it.
Finally found a creator with contents i can surely use for the rest of my life!! Keep creating, man! You're helping a lot of people especially Gen Zs like us ❤️
I just installed mine wrong and decided to see if you had a video on this. I should have known!! Thank you so much for your videos. They really mean a lot!
Great job explaining things. It is a good idea to keep the door key or whatever you need to unlock the door, in a handy spot. Sometimes little kids accidently lock the door and do not know how to unlock the door, and they can become terrified. Same thing could happen to an elderly person or someone with limited mental capacity. They may not be able to figure things out, in a stressful situation.
Omg thiiis man reminds me sooo much of my father ❤ My dad taught me so much throughout life and I hate that I moved so far away from him to pursue a career. My dad is literally one of 3 people I keep in touch with on a regular basis. I love that this man is using his free time to teach kids without fathers the things my dad taught my brother and I as we were growing up. This man is officially a national treasure, someone please give him a TV show!!
Quick tips from an ex-door hanger; if the holes for the catch are stripped out, use wood toothpicks dipped in wood glue to partially fill this hole to get some bite for the new screws! Also never use any "Wet" lube on doors/locks, stick to a "dry" lube like silicone spray or graphite. - commented too soon! Thanks, Dad!
I notice you have a fireplace :) I eventually want to buy a house with one but have no idea how they work besides feeding it wood. Would love to see a video of that one day!
I love this man. Sincerely, the kid who’s father was always too busy to teach him anything.
including the difference between who's and whose oooooh
Oooooo minor grammatical error

@@PrincesssKM The word "who's" is an apostrophe of "who is". The word "whose" is what we use to refer someone.

Same my dad is just lazy doesn’t want to teach me anything :(
I was allowed to help my dad. But only hold the flashlight, and get shouted at if I wasn't shining the light on the place that needed fixing.
Boy that sounds exactly like my dad
I hope u know I’m 13 I have never had a dad he’s serving life in prison and this really helped me out.
Ms Sxmpley peace be with you. Some times other dads step forward to do the teaching. Glad you found this dad. I know I'm glad to be here too

I am a 40 yrs old woman, who is also learning with you how to do stuff!!! Thank you so much, specially for teaching all the children and the adults without parents.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I miraculously succeeded in changing my room's doorknob after watching this video.
Thanks dad. It look me a minute to get the dad joke but when I did I literally laughed out loud. You’re the greatest.
Hearing “hey kids” gives me instant joy😊

This is one of the most wholesome channels on YT.
OMG, I've been putting off installing a door knob that's broken off, now I won't have to have an open knobless hole in my door! Thank you!!
I'm a mom and I love your videos. You're doing a great thing for those who have never had anyone to teach them. Keep on teaching!
My Dad works overseas this helps me a lot knowing I can be independent thanks a lot internet dad
My dad filed for emancipation when I was 1 year old. I'm almost 32 now. Your channel fills my heart.
My birth father was a deadbeat and my stepdad was always too busy. Thank you for this wholesome and wonderful channel! You are wonderful
Yesterday, I changed four door knobs that I had been putting off for a long time. Thanks for another great video!
I don’t have parents to rely on so I am glad to have these videos as references. Thank you!!
Love the dad joke🤣❤

Aww. Thanks for disassembling you doorknob for us Dad.

This helped so much, I had the latch facing the wrong way. After I fixed it I was able to make it work, thank you !!!
Thanks Dad! My door knob keeps getting stuck in lock mode so i have to keep my key on the keyhole. I'll watch this when I get my replacement knob!
I was just thinking of changing my locks to the digital versions so this is so helpful. Thanks, dad!
I love this man, his an awesome human being
Omg the jokes are legit my favorite aside from "Hey kids" and then actually learning something too.

I'm actually a woman 'of a certain age' :) These videos help me learn how to fix things on my own. Such a friendly place too. Thanks so much!
Who ever dislikes this video by the internet dad has no heart
Probably the losers who neglected their kids.
Hey Dad,
Can you create a video that shows how to fix a faucet leak? I'm thinking it could be a broken gasket, but not too sure where to start.
I will forever like your videos, even if I don’t need them.. You are amazing 💕 happy new year, Dad!
Thank you so much for all your work!!! Thanks to this video I was able to change my doorknob because asking my father it’s a fight since “he works and I need to figure out thing by myself”

Even though this "how do I" does not apply to me, as I don't have this style of doorknobs (I'm in New Zealand), I still watched it because Dad!
A golf tee snipped off! Genius! I have a door that needs this tip! Thanks Dad!
This is so amazing and I truly appreciate what you’re doing here.
Thank you dad! I just had to do this for the first time last year when i bought my new house. Can you do how to tile next?
Love this, I had to call my dad, because....didn’t know what to do..
that dad joke made me laugh out loud for real ❤️😁
Excellent video. Thank you for teaching.
Ok so I actually needed this! I plan on moving and I messed up one of the doorknobs so this will help me get some of my deposit back 😆
