After almost 3 hour trying to get my room door lock installed, this was the last one that saved me. The other videos did not show me the whole story🤦♀️. . But this video turtorial Mr. Phil explained that there is a need to change the backset which I did not know of, he saved my day. This is how tutorials should be, explaining the whole thing and the reason behind each steps. I love it, good job🤝🤝
This was the last tutorial I looked at and it was the only one that told the whole story. I had been stumped, but after watching this, I knew exactly what I had been doing wrong and was done in 10-mins. Thanks a lot, Phil.
@@PhilCrockett Absolutely the best way to have a video. Have a video.. show things clearly and then clearly give verbal instructions. Absolutely best on youtube. Thank you !
Literally my first time ever changing a door knob and it wasn’t even the same brand but this video had me finish the job in about 15-20 minutes I can’t believe I did it and thank you sir
You must be a teacher! You knew to show every single detail in small steps (including arrow diagrams, yay!) Love it and will use this for assembling locks on two bedroom doors; THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this it was really helpful. My dad never has any time to fix anything in the house and my door would never lock, I was worried I would have to replace the frame to the door because it’s cracked and missing a chunk next to the handle, but I realized from this video that some time ago, that’s where someone broke the door and the strike plate flew off. I didn’t know a strike plate was a thing.... may sound dumb, but I’m clueless about these kinds of things. Thank you, I’m ordering a new handle now!
Your instruction was perfect. I’m going to do this myself. My maintenance guy in my apartment is ignoring me after saying he would take care of it and I was going to pay him to do it!! Not! I’m going to save my money and do it myself. So thank you!!
Vawn, I'll be your maintenance guy! Let me know if you have any issues. I love knowing I helped you out, my friend! Hope my other videos are just as useful. Let me know how it went!
I'm so glad I found your video but unfortunately I found a dud video first so after 2 more hours finally got the doorknob on and yes I am a woman and yes the hardest part was doing those two screws on the other side of the knob lining them up.😅
Thank you Phil you made the process simple and easy to follow . I am more of a visual and audio person when it comes to learning or assembly , instructions give me the creeps on paper . I wanted to say I highly appreciated your video and you made my night easy . Yes I had to adjust the slot height for where the lock closes into by shaving the inside door frame just a little . I would have never known that . I grew up in a apt but live in a house so all my repairs are a adventure . Happy New Year to you and thanks again .
Sir, thank you for giving me the confidence to do something that I was hesitant to do because I thought that somehow I was going to do something irreparably wrong, lol.

Awesome video!!! Loved the step by step instructions so vital to novices like me. Like never assume people know what things are called. Most of us are so clueless, we have to watch a couple of videos before we understand what different terms mean. However this is the first video I have watched and already feel confident that I can replace the broken latch now. 🙏 Are you a teacher/instructor by any chance?? Anyway, bless you. Many, many thanks. We really appreciate it, even the ones who can’t be bothered to leave a comment. 😊

I'm going to replace my front door set. With your video I'm going to be able to do it. You're a great teacher! The instructions given with my new knob looks like instructions for a nuclear reactor🙄
Good video. I note from your testing of the knob that it would turn both clockwise and counterclockwise. My builder has just replaced a front door and fitted a Schlage Regent combi set, comprising a separate deadbolt and key/thumb turn knob set. The knobs turn only one way - towards the strike plate. That's inconvenient, as turning each knob in one direction or another should be a matter of individual preference, for example if you're left or right handed. Could the builder have incorrectly installed the spindle?
I appreciate this video but no tutorial has shown me what I need to see. When put the indoor knob on I can’t tell how to get the screws into the nuts. I am beyond frustrated.

The handle should freeze when locked. It sounds like the latch clearing into the plate. you most likely need to adjust the position of the plate so the latch enters it. This can be tricky.

the first part of this video shows how to remove a door knob. ua-cam.com/video/Zx8fwOGxdxQ/v-deo.html If your door know doesn't have the 2 screws on the inside like this one, then it may have a slot on the outer rim of the housing that you release with a flathead screwdriver. It may be a releasing tab that you push in, OR a pry-off. There are also housing that you give a quarter turn to take them off. See if one of those things works with yours. Is it manufactured in the 70;s? There could also be a push tab slot on the inside shaft of the knob to release it. Let me know if this helps, Glenn.
