I know this is from four months ago so you might not see, but here’s a few suggestions that might help you (though I’m sure you’ve likely learned since then): -to prevent the “scratched” look, you could wet send with P1200 and/or use a rubbing compound (the latter will really help out a mirror finish) -the handle is a bit chunky, but that’s no problem at all if it fits in *your* hands well. However I would mention that the front end should be less thick than the back, even with the ergonomic fit. This is just so that you can keep a solid hold on the knife and it won’t go flying, should you give something a good whack with it. Not so much for comfort, just for safety. -I think there may have been a slight warp in the handle? Or maybe the raw ebony that you laid the handle on was warped and the handle was straight. I honestly don’t know 😂 either way, doesn’t matter too much as long as the end result works, and it definitely does! Good job! Overall you did a really, really great job! I loved the stains and the handle came together REALLY nicely. I never would have thought of adding ebony dust to the glue to match the color! Definitely earned a sub from me 💜

For all the people who are trying to recreate this "funny experiment", he didn't tell you but after 16 hours of electrolyse you potentially are turning your entire room/house in to a bomb. Because electrolysis is skimming from water not only oxygen but also hydrogen making it very dangerous mix. So if you are recreating this remember to ventilate your workspace.
Rapaz !!! Que belíssima obra de arte ! Pensei que iria mudar pelo fato de haver sido retirado uma parte e feito modificações, mas o resultado final, compensou e muito ! I'm no expert, but do these chemical manipulations make any sense if you are going to remove all the pitting with a belt sander? Seems like a lot of extra work
A diamond in the rough made into a useable work of art! Very fun to watch. It may no longer be of cleaver sturdiness, but clearly it has a beautiful cutting edge.

Or just be educated before you do things like that lol
@@nikothagod9838 this is education
@@codedroneomg he’s referring to people possibly just doing it on their own when you should do research before doing anything like this anyway

Rapaz !!!
I feel like you could start by sandblasting this to save a lot of time, but the metal restoration is super clean
He started by putting a clean blade in acid.

Да уж, если бы не наждачная бумага, ни за что бы не отполировать. Очень интересно наблюдать. Благодарю за видио. А сколько всяких машин и средств. Здорово!
The way all the sanding stuff went "scrtchy scrtchy scrtchy scrtch" in all the deepest tones just 👌
Das wird nie langweilig anzuschauen habe dieses Video schon zum vierten mal angeschaut 😂❤
Das freut mich zu lesen! Weiterhin viel Spaß damit! 🤪🤩🐢
Every time I see electrolysis I appreciate distilled white vinegar rust removal even more. I’ve never seen electrolysis remove rust better than DWV. I don’t get why people use it. There’s still so much work you have to do after . DWV removes all of it in the same amount of time or less.
Yup I used to use electrolysis and changed to vinegar. I'm not even fussy about the type.. any vinegar seems to do a great job.
@@nathanchalecki4842 yep! AND you can use it over and over. I have about 3 gallons that I’ve been using for years.
@@ThePipeiper can I use it for a smoothie? 🥺👉👈
@@Salah.Ad-Din sure! only one though 😔
I'm no expert, but do these chemical manipulations make any sense if you are going to remove all the pitting with a belt sander? Seems like a lot of extra work
😝. I love your sense of humor! (Starts adding a few spoons of coffee... then dumps the whole bottle in) 😂

I would have styled the handle differently but this is gorgeous. Well done.
Pro tip: when sanding steel always go with the grain of the steel, never go against it because it will look scratched.
Thank you for the tip!
A figure eight motion works the best in my experience
@@Dboggs55 I've been doing it for a while and I know any time you go against the grain of the steel you get scratches
Yes. When the direction of sanding is changed, the resulting scratches are damned near impossible to remove.
@@Ricopolico it’s almost worse than the deep original scratches.
Outstanding transformation. Had no idea there was so much metal left.
Because there shouldn't. Don't be surprised. You should realize a fake video when you see one.

You grind the handle down?
These types of videos got me through highschool ngl, they were just fun to watch and see the end product
A diamond in the rough made into a useable work of art! Very fun to watch. It may no longer be of cleaver sturdiness, but clearly it has a beautiful cutting edge.
I will say as someone who works in construction, it’s totally bizarre to see such detail and effort being put into your project but using a terrible drill at the same time.
The end product is magnificent.
The drill might have sentimental value for him due to it being a gift from a loved one or something like that and as a result he doesn't want to replace it.
@@Doomseer right, lets assume that for no reason whatsoever
@@Freestyle80 I mean that's honestly pretty common, my dad has been a carpenter for over thirty years and he only replaced his hammer once it started literally falling apart. Also why is your comment so antagonist you weirdo, I swear do individuals such as you just simply enjoy being unpleasant to people or are you acting that way cause it's the Internet and therefore you can just go ahead and treat others however you see fit.. Either way I'd say you you got some growing up to do son.
PERFECT. Impressive restoration techniques. It also has a wide range of tools. I would love to have a workshop just like yours.
Thank you very much!
Love the hidden tang modification you did for the cleaver
OMG! One of the best, if not the best, knife restorations I've ever seen. Thank you for removing all the pitting. Some want us to believe they actually like the pitting, but I think they're just lazy.

Absolutely unbelievable! Well done! If I had seen just the end result I wouldn't ever believed it. Congrats, amazing job.
Thank you very much! ☺🐢
I've watched this several times over the last few months, still very satisfying!
finally, a restoration channel that doesnt leave the pits in the knife.
Whats a pit
the little divots in the blade after the rust is removed
FOR REAL IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. With just a little more work they could absolutely get them out!
I find the pits pretty cool because it like shows how old it really is
@@AceS_34 thats a fair point, but my problem is mainly with stuff that is used with food, as those pits are breeding grounds for bacteria and are hard to clean, making the knife/whatever not food safe
loved the video. the work on the knife is beautiful, and the edit is great
An absolute artist. Some of the finest silversmithing I have ever seen. How many hours of labor total did this project take?
