- When Joe Girard and Dawn Thomas (Swich and Rouxbe Cooking School Co-Founders) decided to give up city living, finding an Airstream to transform into a home was their first step.
And now, their 1976 Airstream has been fully renovated! Get ready for the big renovation reveal as Dawn takes us on a tour of the newly-modernized and refurbished trailer. From the totally customized interior layout to the epic Nest Alexandre Signature mattress, this is Airstream glamping on another level.
Dawn also embarks on a fun DIY project: ageing newly-built Adirondack chairs. Get Dawn’s DIY tips on giving pine outdoor furniture a rustic look-you won’t believe how great the final product looks. Hint: the process involves tea, apple cider vinegar, and steel wool.
Along the way, Joe and Dawn get to work on a new deck for their tent. Dawn shares a peek inside the ultra-cozy Canvas Camp tent-it just might inspire you to embrace outdoor living too!
Making the move to the Pender Island farm has required a lot of hard work-but the end results are undeniably worth it. As Dawn and Joe forge ahead in their new island life, each project gets them one step closer to their vision. They’ve made it this far-and they’re going to keep moving forward.

Why the airstream ..and the tent ..are you going to be renting them to tourists…
Airstream is our primary living space. The tents for farm workers and guests. No plans to do rentals. It will be 2 years before we build a new home so in the interim we are building temporary structures.
