Question: would it matter if I updated the bios as soon as I get finished building my pc. What I mean by that is after I build my pc before turning it on could I update it without any problems and then go on with the windows bios setup once it’s done updating?

I just hope the bios update will solve the one final issue I'm currently having: My Gen4 Transcend 250h 4tb M.2 ssd not showing up. It does show in my bios, and even showed up as a drive to install my windows on it, but after having windows installed its not showing up in the list for "this PC". My samsung one shows up without any issues, but the transcend, nope.

Followed the instruction. At boot I get:
    We detected a new ftpm. . .
If you did not apply ftpm function, press Y to continue. then in red "please ensure you have a recovery key or the system will not boot without a recovery key." Since I don't know what a recovery key is, I likely don't have one. is this just for bitlocker/encryption enabled?
So do I press Y or no? the video did not cover this step. : )

I know this is kind of late but if anyone was having trouble updating (I couldn’t find a usb less than 64gb on me and things got a little funky) heres another method. You can just update by using the bios menu. Open bios by pressing the delete key when the computer is posting. That should open the bios, now under the tools tab there should be an option called “ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility”. You can then choose the drive and select the update file within it. It even shows you a progress bar so you know how far along the update is going. I find this method more intuitive and less “cross your fingers and hope the flashing lights turn off”. Cheers
    * Also if your light blinks a few times and remains solid afterwards make sure you have the right motherboard bios update. The WiFi version and non WiFi version bios updates are not cross compatible.

I ended up looking through the manual because I got stuck here too and found this:
" If the light flashes for five seconds and turns into a solid light, this means that the
BIOS FlashBack™ is not operating properly. This may be caused by improper
installation of the USB storage device and filename/file format error. If this scenario
happens, please restart the system to turn off the light."
I've just redownload the BIOS file to redo everything so I don't know what's exactly causing it but seems there's still more work to be done! I hope this helps or that you were able to get it fixed!

    • @bud7105
      @bud7105 5 місяців тому

if the light stays a solid green that means it cannot read the flash drive so no its not updating.....make sure your flash drive in FAT32 and MBR not GPT. Also if you still get the solid green light this is how to actually get it to read ur flash drive shut down ur pc, unplug your power cord from ur PSU and while its unplugged hit the power button to make sure you get rid of the extra power that you have going through it...wait 10 sec then plug it back in do not turn ur pc on then plug in ur flash drive and then hold the flashback button for 3 sec and it should end up working...if it does work and it keeps flashing do not turn on ur pc just wait till the flashing stops and goes away. Once u have no more green light then turn ur pc back on.

Not all. Motherboards are compatible with all CPUs out of the box so depending on your CPU you may need to do it at the beginning. Otherwise, you can update the BIOS later if you want. I have a Ryzen 7 5700X with this motherboard but I'm not sure If they are compatible. This would be my first PC so idk how to know if that processor is compatible.

Head on over to the MSI website and they have a list of compatible CPUs there listed when you bring up the motherboard.

As far as I can judge it as a "normal" PC user, this is not only an extremely easy and safe way to update the BIOS version, but it is also the best explanation for it for me so far, so thank you for sharing 😊👍 ... and I say this even though English is not my first language
But now I still have another problem:
In my AMD (5600 CPU + 6700 GPU) gaming PC from March 2021, the superb "ASUS ROG STRIX B500-F GAMING" motherboard is installed with the BIOS version "1805" ... I`m using the current version of Windows 10 Home 22H2 ... if I want to update this older BIOS version now as shown in this video, do I always use the latest version on top of the list, even if it is actually designed for Windows 11 or do I have to use the latest version in the list especially designed for Windows 10 instead? ... as far as I can judge it this PC is still running fast and fluid with no issues like on the first day ... ok, if at some point I have to switch to Windows 11 in autumn 2025 at the latest or maybe something more current from Microsoft, then I will probably have to install the latest BIOS version, because I assume that will not happen automatically, right?
I'm always reluctant, especially when it comes to my own interventions in the depths of the system, such as the BIOS, you can hardly get any deeper, especially if you don't know your way around so well and if everything is basically working as usual.
By the way, is there a video on this channel showing how to upgrade to Windows 11 or to install it properly on a Windows 10 PC without loosing the installed programms, games, files, data and so on? What would be the best way to do this, an update simply via "Windows Update" in the "System Settings" or a complete new installation via Microsoft Windows 11 Installation Assistant? Sorry, but I`m a lazy boy, that`s the reason for these questions 😉

I typically go download the driver's once the PC's up and running. The bios is separate.

I’m having some problems not sure where I went wrong. Using this mb and a ryzen 5 5600x. In the bios menu it said it was an improper bios so I tried to download windows first instead and now I’m stuck in the windows 11 installer with a system incompatible message. I guess the fix is in bios but I can’t force open my bios page

@@alspcrepair I didn’t, I think it’s bricked bricked, I have two different amd cpus both a 5000 and 3000 series and neither worked, none of my fans on anything started up(psu, gpu, cpu cooler) so I just sent it to asus it’s honestly probably beat. Reddit says someone was downloading wrong bios, but I was not, and the fact two different series didn’t work I think might be a sign. Hopefully asus figures it out for me.
