Thank you so much for your kind words and support my friend, it means the world to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Also, that is one of the reasons I started this channel, at 13, the internet was not really out... I had to learn everything on my own... my uncles and step father knew about computers, but didn't have time for me.... so I had to teach myself everything. Fast forward a few years, youtube came out, and there were a few tech channels, and every knew how to do stuff and said, here is easy, look and flew threw things, didn't really show it, which to me means they don't know either, but that's a different story. I would see in the comments people saying thanks so much for the help, but I have this question, stuff they would fly over in the videos, and they would never get answered, so that made me want to make this channel. I was a reviewer initially with Dragonblogger, you will find a lot of my videos there (I started ThisBytesForYou 5 years ago, so it would be after that but I am still very close with Justin Germino, the owner of Dragonblogger) then I came here and did everything on my own but with my focus on teaching everything I could, I am so very happy I could help you.
@@ThisBytesForYou interesting! Thanks for sharing your journey with the pc world..its so great that we are getting your extensive knowledge basically for free. For somone like me who is going to build the first pc ever. This is invaluable. Other channels only focus on fancy editing , music lights and high production quality just to get more and more subscribers since that sells well to attract wider audience. They barely reply to comments and are always looking for hot topics to cover without any substantial knowledge to be shared! Although I do enjoy those videos at times to get some news briefly but the real stuff is what you are doing with your channel for sure! Keep up the good work and sharing your knowledge 👏 I am sure this channel is bound to grow more 🙌
@@abhisheksakpal484 thanks so much my friend for wording it all so well, this is exactly what I am going after. I am pushing so hard to help as many people as I can and yeah, trying really hard to have it grow as well, it would help tons if you could share my videos, tremendously as word of mouth is the best advertisement. Also as for commenting yes, it upsets me all the channels that have all the good stuff, but won't help if you have a question, they don't care about their audience, and I get if they don't answer a few comments, I miss some too, youtube is horrible about notifications, but they dont reply to any. Those channels rely on their own audience to help other viewers but the problem is many will give bad advice and I want to make sure to help everyone with good information and they can share that information with their friends, knowing that it is correct. You don't need to power up the MOBO to updates it's BIOS. One simply puts the MOBO updater drive in the rear USB port marked "BIOS", and hold the button for 3 seconds. Wait a few mins for the LED to stop lighting up, and once the light stays off it's done. Great video, though!
that is if your CPU is not supported, it's called BIOS flashback, you cannot do that if your CPU is supported. Thanks for the compliments as well, and I am so happy you enjoyed it.

On this mobo, SATA ports 5 and 6 are automatically disabled if you use a second NVME M.2, so I'm not sure what enabling them in the BIOS will accomplish.

Excellent video man. Thanks for making it so clear. Now, a question, did you experience any issues with your LAN port? Disconnecting, losing packages, Windows not recognizing it? I don't have this Motherboard yet, I was planning to get it, buy I read that people have issues with the internet connection because of the Intel LAN Chipset. Thanks in advance.
thanks so much my friend, so very happy you enjoyed it. If you do experience this, Uninstall the LAN drivers it has now, then rescan for drivers and let windows pic it up, that should help. This was the issue they were having
@@ThisBytesForYou thanks for your quick response, didn't buy it yet, but IF I find this problem I'm doing this. I've read on Reddit, that a guy downloaded the LAN drivers directly from the Intel site. This is for anyone having this issue.
@@fergatoreyvirgo always a pleasure my friend, well this is one of those things where I hate asus for re-writting the installer. At 9:52 in the video, I see you download the Beta Version of the bios and not the latest released version. Was that intentional? Debating on installing beta 2420 or released 2407.
I don't see what version I would have gotten, but I would always get the latest, even if it was the beta BIOS. I come from a product development background, I like to have the latest.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks, I now have the mother board working with the latest (beta) bios with AMD 5700G APU. I had to take things a little slower downloading the drivers and put each one in a clearly named folder. I found some of those file names were not obvious. I did not install ASUS utilities nor the armoury crate. I have no LED lighting effects and a case with no window. I saw posts on Reddit that made me pause when it came to installing the ASUS software. Those posts also expressed frustration with it's removal. I have the 3rd revision (3) I225-V network chip. Hopefully chip is OK. Any thoughts or videos on stress testing? I am thinking we want to develop confidence in the build without over stressing any build parts.
Thanks for the video! I know this video is a bit old, but I have a question. When trying to install Windows, I consistently run into this error message: "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant." This keeps coming up even after I update the BIOS. Any suggestion on this?

@@Vozxko I am building a pc in a few weeks with the same board and seen people having that problem. There should be a bios button on the io panel and a white box around one of the usb ports, on a separate computer you have to download the new bios from asus and unzip the file to a flash-drive. Then you can put that flash drive into the white outlined usb port and I think you hold the circular button down for 3-5 seconds, a light will come on to tell you to stop and it is downloading. Once its done you should get a post.

Thanks my friend, I could go a lot deeper, but more people are interested in the beginner stuff, once I get down to fewer reviews (i have such a back log) I can do that kinda stuff.
There is no save and reset, save and exit is what you do. If you don't have an os on that drive, it will boot from the thumb drive with windows on it. Do you have that?

yes it would, but you would need to use the BIOS flash back to have it support the processor, out of the box it will not support it although it may now, but it did not originally. Regardless, easy enough to get to work, you should have not problems.
I see the way you have your ram installed. Does this motherboard prefer the ram be in slot 2-4 instead of 1-3 ? Numbered from closest to cpu to furthest
Most motherboards prefer 2 and 4, without the one at 2, your PC won't boot up, BUT not all boards are the same. Make sure to read the manual for your board or the board you are considering purchasing.

Quick question I switched from Intel to AMD. My new set up is a Ryzen 5800X with a Strix B550 F Gaming motherboard. I already installed internet drivers too, not sure if I'm missing something or if it's just my ISP. But it's weird that I just started having this issue when I upgraded my PC
there are many potential reasons, starting with the easiest, did you completely wipe and reload that windows drive, or are you running the same install of windows from the Intel build?

Hello, I’m a beginner. Thanks for the video. Is what you do in the “setting up the bios on the asus rog strix” necessary or can I leave it at auto? Also should these setting shown by you remain the same post installation of drives?
there is a small chance auto would work, but you can try it. I make these videos for beginners, so it should help. The memory speed should be raised, as I lowered it, below XMP standards to cleanly install windows.
Well, your PC will work better if you did it before, but you can still do it now, after you have ran it for a while. Make sure you do it in the order I show you here, BIOS, Chipset, etc
so go into your device manager, right click on the start button and click "Device Manager" click to expand "Network Adapters" and you should see the ethernet adapter there, it could be errored out, go ahead and right click on it, click "Update Driver", click "Browse my computer for drivers" then click "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer', then click ""Have Disk" then navigate to the directory you extracted your ethernet drivers then click Open, and it should install. Now, you will need to download them from some your other pc then bring it over to this pc.

Best tutorial for the initial setup! Most youtubers just fast forward all this and make it look like they show every thing!
I don't care about pretty lights and fancy editing (mind you, I will get there is video quality one day) but I want to focus on what's good for my audience, to help you overcome your fears in all things PC.
Those channels rely on their own audience to help other viewers but the problem is many will give bad advice and I want to make sure to help everyone with good information and they can share that information with their friends, knowing that it is correct.

you will need a product key later, the windows 10 install will last you for a few months then you will see the windows 10 water mark, after about 6 months or so, the performance will start to drop and you will need to either enter your product key, or just wipe and reload the operating system.

Because I am using it for a week now but reading all the issues it has online on EVGA forums it’s making me really scared a failure of the card could happen anytime. not a single issue and I have been using it for a while now in this build, benching, stressing, gaming and all, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/9gg8w8BHGns/v-deo.html. Great video, but I have a question. I have the same mobo as in the video, and it keep POSTing in safe mode. How do I boot to windows without a fresh install?
what do you mean posting in safe mode? can you explain it so I can help you.
Thx, Nice channel for beginner.
Thanks my friend, I could go a lot deeper, but more people are interested in the beginner stuff, once I get down to fewer reviews (i have such a back log) I can do that kinda stuff.
Thank you so much!! Question: the latest BIOS does not have a save and reset/ only save and exit... so where do i go from there to install windows?
There is no save and reset, save and exit is what you do. If you don't have an os on that drive, it will boot from the thumb drive with windows on it. Do you have that?
You are amazing made my first build a breeze thank you so much 🍻🍻😁👍🏽

Hey would this motherboard work with Ryzen 7 5800x
yes it would, but you would need to use the BIOS flash back to have it support the processor, out of the box it will not support it although it may now, but it did not originally.
@@ThisBytesForYou I have the same board as shown in this video! I have gotten my system to boot a few times but randomly it just won’t boot after building and I have my ram in slots 1/3 is why I ask.
Going to try 2/4 now!

Same method, but not the same bios, look in the support site for your specific model

What do you do if you have a nvidia graphics card for downloading drivers
go to NVIDIA.com, you can get your drivers there
Thanks man! You saved my life
Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy I could help you.
when you installed all the drivers from Amd why didn't you install the Raid driver I see you installed the raid Installer but not the one called Raid Driver. I'm just curious why that was
because there is no RAID, you can attempt to, it would just do nothing.

@@ThisBytesForYou Ive done almsot everything on this guide... what I can't find is the AI suite 3.. do I need that?
@@maxescano so it's kind of hidden for some reason, hahah. So go here: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wi-fi-model/helpdesk_download and select your OS and scroll down a little, under "Utilities" you will see a "See All Downloads", if you click that it will take you right to the AI Suite,. The AI Suite is not 100% important, but it helps to clear an error in the device manager and give you a nice set of tools.
How do you correct the time and date after you update the bios?
they really made it difficult, go to the main bios screen and make sure you on advanced mode, press down to go to "system language" then press tab, it will take you to change the time. Let me know how it goes for you.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks, I actually found a simple way to do this, where it shows the time on the bios menu, right next to the time is a gear icon that you can click on to reset time and date.
@@emeraldman83 ahhh ok cool, though this won't reset it, you can click to change everything but of course which ever you find best works. Does this board has a built in speaker?
no, you would need something like this from my amazon affiliate link: geni.us/mW3p3OX
@@ThisBytesForYou thank you so much. I have one last question Sir. My cpu overheated once because I turned on my pc, and I forgot to install the cpu cooler. Does it have any adverse/side effect?
Does the B550F have wifi with it or nope I'm trying to figure that part out I didn't know there was a B550F wifi
There are 2 versions, one with and one without, this one has wifi, you can use the link in the description.
I thought that the ryzen 5 3600 is out of the box -compatible with b550 motherboards? Or am I completely lost my mind?
yes it is, but a bios update is not only for processor support, but a bunch of features and function fixes and updates. If your going to Zen 3, then you need to update before then.
Thanks for answering!
So the motherboard doesnt come with the latest bios, but will support the 3600 anyways? Did I get it right?
chances are it will not come with the latest bios just yet, mine did not but yes it will support the 3600 out of the box and anytime my friend, I always love helping.
Thank you very much!
anytime my friend
Do you have to install drivers in order to use the Wi-Fi built in adapter
I didn't during the install but I always keep my version of windows 10/11 install up to date, after I install windows and flash the BIOS then I install the latest of all the drivers so I can keep performance at 100%, but some people don't care about performance.
@@ThisBytesForYou yeah but I how does my pc read the adapter like what optimizes the Wi-Fi to start working that’s what I’m confused about I have my windows installed but no internet
@@ThisBytesForYou by the way I left you a comment on instagram so it’s easier to talk there via direct message
thats OK, I find it easier to talk here, so we can talk here. AS long as your windows 10 install is NEW, meaning, you watch this video and create the latest thumb drive with this, you should have the drivers on there: ua-cam.com/video/C759I7DBXd8/v-deo.html
what is the gen for 3060 ti fe
yes the 3060 ti is a Gen4 device but it will work on Gen3 as well.
I did everything and my wifi doesnt work, how do i fix it?
@LostHelpMinecraft did you install the wifi drivers and connect your Wi-Fi enabled device to a wireless access point you have somewhere in your house, like I show you in this video?

On that note idk if you would know, but even after following your steps in the bios ..on the utility menu it seems my maximum bandwidth for the ram is 2133 or around there when my ram is actually 3600mhz. On device manager it shows to be 3600mhz but unsure why this is as I feel like it could be incorrect.
Mind you the pc was under a low load so unsure if that affects the clock speed
Thank you so much my friend, I do greatly appreciate your kind words. In your bios, did you enable xmp or docp for the memory?

Quick question I switched from Intel to AMD. My new set up is a Ryzen 5800X with a Strix B550 F Gaming motherboard. Since I've updated my parts, it runs smoothly, except when I go into video games, I get a lot of packet loss.
@@ThisBytesForYou so previously I had one SSD and that is where I had windows. I recently bought an M.2 Evo Plus 1 TB SSD and that is where I installed windows. All my old SSD still had al my files in it including windows but it's no longer my primary boot.
@@ThisBytesForYou also thanks for the fast response!
@@Bears85yemi always a pleasure my friend. So it seems you might have 3 windows boot loaders, which can be crazy. Try booting with your main boot drive installed, then 1 more. Go in your bios, set your boot drive and make sure it boots. Let me know if that works.
Thank you for this video. It helped me to update bios today. Only thing is I can’t get the other MB driver updates to install. AMD chipset update worked but haven’t tried the other updates for it, was stuck on the MB and never got back to finishing the cpu update.
Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Well, what is the manufacturer and model name of your motherboard?
@@ThisBytesForYou it’s the same setup as in your video. 5600x, B550 F gaming wifi. Are those MB drivers installed the same way as the bios update? Meaning from the thumb drive in the bios settings? Or like other driver updates where you just download and install? Or do I need to install the other drivers in order from oldest to newest? This is my first gaming pc. I’ve had dell work stations before but nothing that was actually as important to me as this since this is my build and not a pre built. Thanks.
@@MountainMcCumbee you can copy the drivers you download to the thumb drive, then copy them on to the windows install and install them, you can get all the drivers here: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wi-fi-model/helpdesk/
No worries my friend, I am here to help. This video might help you too: ua-cam.com/video/8JuC_Dpm6-c/v-deo.html
The person who installed my windows after assembling my PC did none of this. Should I reinstall?
Well, your PC will work better if you did it before, but you can still do it now, after you have ran it for a while. Make sure you do it in the order I show you here, BIOS, Chipset, etc
Hey I have this motherboard and my Ethernet cable doesn’t work any idea how to fix it?
so go into your device manager, right click on the start button and click "Device Manager" click to expand "Network Adapters" and you should see the ethernet adapter there, it could be errored out, go ahead and right click on it, click "Update Driver", click "Browse my computer for drivers" then click "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer', then click ""Have Disk" then navigate to the directory you extracted your ethernet drivers then click Open, and it should install. Now, you will need to download them from some your other pc then bring it over to this pc.
Does this motherboard require a bios update for ryzen 5000?
yes
