Interesting that we've already experimentally verified your model for the amount of mobs needed to protect an area from spawns on ilmango's patreon server, our goldfarm sits on the edge of a soulsand valley with about 30 mobs filling the mobcap and still produces 1.2K gold blocks per hour. It is a portal based goldfarm but because we have a 256 tall nether we needed the farm to be as small as possible to limit the amount of bedrock removal to reduce the heightmap.

I just found this video. I came up with the same exact portal farm a couple of months ago. just a big portal with 2 blocks wide platform on either side, 4 wide between 2 portals. I never finished the output though because I caught wind that the server we were gonna build it on was closing down in a couple months, and decided it wasn't worth the effort. we finally setup our own server that we won't shut down, and this reminds me to add it to the list. Thanks for the video! the portal linking info is actually super helpful. I was linking based off of block position not entity position, and was confused why some ghasts were getting stuck. I love that there is always more to learn about any subject, and the small things can have big impacts. I might know how to generate and use microticks, but i'm still learning about portal linking. I love your videos and am very inspired by them. thanks for bringing us genius content! PS. I loved the block by block tutorial xD

Gnembon: You don't even need to have the same seed, you just need to know the coordinates. Me: \*builds it at the exact coordinates Gnembon built through the world download* Edit: Do not make the same mistake. Make sure that it is in fact in Soul Sand Valley.

Thank you for the block by block tutorial and explanation. Sometime you guys don't put tutorial and other people has to watch some random youtubers with some fancy edits and not explaining any mechanism, sometimes they don't even mention the original designers name. So my request to technical minecrafter community that if you guys design something please put a block by block tutorial so that we don't have to watch others and you guys can get the proper appreciation you deserve.

In the new 1.19 release, skeletons and other mobs can spawn in the nether at light level 11 or lower. Skeletons can spawn in this design. If you are going to use this, please make sure to light your farm
Thank you for this video! The block-by-block complainers are probably people who aren't used to breaking down a problem into subcomponents. If you had a separate video for each subcomponent (even, someone else's) it would probably reduce complainers. I myself sometimes struggle to extrapolate based on your videos, because I'm unfamiliar with Minecraft. All your videos are high-level and technically precise (very valuable), so I'll have to graduate to them from other Minecraft "classes."

honestly didn't think this would work but after copying what I saw in the video, it turned out to be super efficient. like, enderman grinder level efficient. the strider thing and the afk platform at the end are really important tho, dont forget that if you are making this (ps. the math looks intimidating but just build a portal in the overworld, divide the coordinates of the portal by 8 and thats the portal's position in the nether. i trust you to go from there you brilliant little minecrafter)
That duplication glitch is amazing, especially because I spent hours trying to come with the crafting recipe with no success. What I did was to hop into my friend's world and steal like a stack or two, but those will eventually run out.

Like it seem to be everyone else, I'm getting items over the middle-bottom portal in the nether. Maybe raising the whole thing 1 block and run a hopper minecart under the central portal frame and both sides could be a simple solution
Makes me wonder what would be a good strategy for preventing the items from falling into the overworld portal and back into the nether. Perhaps glass blocks on either face of the overworld portal?
