    There was a time when we used to travel long distances on 100 & 150 CCs. Now people are not satisfied with a 200 CC. I believe riding is all about passion and the bore size doesn't really matter. Of course we need to take more breaks on a lighter motorcycles, but that is the fun part of it right?

    Hero Xpulse is vfm.
    Hero engines maybe not very powerful...but their refinement,reliability,availability of cheap spare parts,low maintainence is always better than others.

      I have had test ride of this bike...Overall this bike is the most VFM bike in the segment.... Ride quality is very good!
      Yes there are some quality issues like footpegs, Rear brake lever aren't of good quality and feel ill-fit.
      Also cables from the front wheels aren't neatly tucked. if anyone wants an off-road bike in extremely tight budget, this is the only option!!

    Perhaps the export models are different, but the 2019 Himalayan I bought in the U.S. has been flawless. I'm a bit bigger than the average Indian guy, so the weight of the bike was less noticeable for me. I was so impressed, in fact, that I just bought a Classic 500 as well. For me, Indian craftsmanship is excellent.

      The reason is Hero has always failed to succeed in the performance bike segment that's why they have tried to put their 200cc bike's price agaisnt the rest of the 150-160cc bikes in the market.

    The himalayan will climb up steep inclines fairly easily, but imagine a situation where you fall while climbing a steep incline! ( which is 95% likely to happen). It's then when you realise that the ADV being light matters more than having character.

I found it very challenging to lead the steep curves due to bike's heavy weight and that's when I got caught attention of my decision to buy Himalayan. My friends Himalayan's engine had an issue so even his was changed FOC in around a months time. But this was when the first batch of Himalayans were made. Then RE fixed the issue and there are no major problems with the engines. However, as usual, the overall quality is not up to the mark, and the service technicians normally don't know what they are doing. Only a few know... but my friend uses it everyday and 99% of the time it is okay. Being RE, you cannot expect Honda quality.. Or even Hero quality, however, their quality is improving... slowly...

    Himalayan’s heavy weight is such a big turn off . It seriously needs to go on a diet . Where as xpulse needs more torque ( not bhp ) but it’s weight makes up for it . I would go with the Xpulse for those trail riding in coffee estates of Coorg . Cheap to maintain and repair . Easy to pick up when you fall and no ones around to help . Xpulse has more going for it than Himalayan.

    The Xpulse makes for a superb 2nd bike if you have a faster primary bike for highway duties.
    I have a D390 but it's a pain to ride in the city or off road, low mileage, hard suspension & jerky throttle at low RPM's, the Xpulse makes perfect sense for me.
    I can use it as a commuter and take it off road for a bit of fun, and it's cheap AF.
    Killer product from Hero.

      Himalayan has always had LED tail lamps, right from day one. About the Headlamp, i would rather have a well focused halogen lamp than an LED unit, which are mostly 6000k and pretty much useless in rain and foggy condition or even newly tarred roads for that matter. Also in case you break it when going off road, its cheaper to replace as well.
      Instead of all that I would honestly prefer a lil lighter bike with 5-10ps more from the engine.

    While I would love the higher torque (tractor that can chug away at any terrain) of the Himalayan... the weight is a HUGE factor when you are exhausted and trying to pick up a fallen bike on a tricky hill slope. It's also a factor while crossing mountain streams that have temporary bamboo bridges and are built to carry one man with a head load.
    Only thing really against the Xpulse ... why didn't they go tubeless? Its light enough to get it and it should be a HUGE help where the nearest tire repair guy is 70kms away on the worst roads (3.5 hrs travel time).
    Am sure if Hero could just make it tubeless.... with its less maintenance and reliability.... it's the perfect bike for our BSF jawans in remote areas.

    • @md8uniya684

      Being spoke wheels they cant put tubeless tyres. Himalayan also not tubeless.

    • @isaacmarak6609
      @isaacmarak6609 5 років тому +1

      Spoked wheels on Himalayan are justifiably there because of the weight.
      Alloys could have been put on the Xpulse.. assuming you had a bad enough accident on the Xpulse to bend the alloys with the light weight bike. .. there is no question of temporary repairs, because you will be in the hospital (alive hopefully)... Hero should make it alloy tubeless wheels for remote places

    • @Mototzigane
      @Mototzigane 5 років тому +2

      It's possible to have tubeless tyres on spoke wheels too, but it's expensive to build it. Hero clearly wanted to keep the cost low.
      And there are a lot of methods to convert it into tubeless but it's unlikely to last unless you install a spoke wheels with tubeless support. (which is not on sale as an accessory in India currently)

    I own a Himalayan bs4, bought it on 2nd January 2018. I have ridden it now for almost 18000 km and no way the maintenance is expensive, oil change is at 10000km, because of 5 free services given to me maintenance was no more than 3500 till now fucking believe it or not sometimes even I can't, the only problem I found with it was the breaks and absolutely nothing except that.
    Riding on highways is soo perfect for people who don't prioritise too much speed, 100kmph cruising I believe is the safest in India.
    Off-road is very comfortable, I'm 6ft tall and a bit heavy so that does help.
    It's the best royal enfield bike(excluding the twins)

      City (very well) + off-road (extremely well) = X-pulse
      Highway (meh, feels fine) + off-road (ah, I wish it was lighter) = Himalayan

    Noraly took a Himalayan from India to Netherlands. With over 30k distance on the odo I will digress from most of the comments down here that it isnt a reliable motorcycle.
    Additionally, it looks great with an all metal body and rugged design.

    I am just wondering abt ppl complaining abt weight of RE, evn other adventure bikes like benelli trk 302, BMW GS 310 are also quite heavy. Plus Himalayan is built for long distance travel where u gonna pack 45-60 kgs of luggage, toolkits, xtra fuel, etc. Xpulse is dual sport bike(kinda like dirt bike with bit more cc, a head light and indicator, pillion seat) Can 200cc haul AVG person of 85kg along with 45-60kg of luggage? Both bike categories are entirely different.
