Good comparison by Autocar. So the Dominar is for city + touring and the Himalayan is for off roading + touring. Himalayan needs a refresh and probably a price cut 😀
I actually had both of these bikes in mind when I thought of buying a bike. But I did not have time to do a lot of research. Then came autocar and Voila! All my doubts were cleared after watching this review. Thanks to Autocar now I can make an informed decision. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Nice review Autocar.........having tested both the bikes I too felt a lot more comfortable on the Himalayan. The Dominar is just not refined or comfortable enough for long distances.
Autocar is the most reliable magazine for analysing the latest vehicles. Autocar is most unbiased and most trustworthy. Keep up the good work. Best wishes always. Bhisham Makhija
Autocar India is beyond doubt a channel superseding all. The coverage of current and upcoming vehicles has a phenomenal impact on 4G + generation. I would say one should rather must go for it if one has passion to roll over and command to screwed up to new vehicles. Keep it up Autocar...!!!
What a great review! It has clarified a lot about the features of the bikes and now one can make an informed decision as to which bike to go for. Kudos Autocar
Both the bikes fall into different purpose or domain..but for the same price range, i prefer Bajaj Dominor 400 over RE himalayan..Dominor 400 is one-in-all for city daily commuting or cruising..
I had booked a Himalayan On 10th Dec 2016.....2Months down the line on 11th feb 2017 I cancelled The same and Booked a Dominor 400.....certainly performance driven with best technological advancements..... P.S: I already have pulsar 150
I have to disagree with this, Bajaj Dominar definitely does not appear to be the kind of bike you want to take on a long distance tour. The Himalayan is an off road capable tourer, one that I'd prefer riding long distance.
With the right tyres, Im sad to say, the Dominar performs equally as good, if not better!, than the Himalayan. I'm sure there are Dominar/Himalayan offroad comparison on YT.
@wanderer U r rit... Dont know why bajaj started to call it a touring bike. Its not at all touring bike. And even at the time of launching it was not at all mentioned that its a cruiser or touring bike. Although i am big fan of bajaj but please dnt fool people who are having less knowledge about motorcycle categories. Himalayan is a typical offroad bike. Dominor isnt. Its a sporty bike.
Wanderer tell that to the people who have already done 20k plus on the dominar. Dominar has proven to be reliable and capable on highways and off roads unlike the himalayan.
Prashant Shubham Turning radius is very high. i own D400 and 2010 TBTS 350 .. I can say D400 is good for high speed highway riding.. TBTS is very easy to handle and gives better milage .. but TBTS has its own set of disadvantage.. if you don't care about milage D400 is the way to go.. overall D400 is a good bike.. TBTS has more light feel.. and better suspension... in my opinion.. take a test ride..on highway
its an unfair comparison.. when it comes to state of the art tech, Bajaj is way ahead of RE. And both these 2 wheelers caters to different class of audience which adds to the fact that the comparison is unfair
It's past my understanding why would you compare the two ? Both are built for different purpose.A Himalayan would go to places comfortable ,where the Dominar would be sweating. And a Dominar would scortch on tarmac where the Himalayan would be dreaming.Pick your choice !
Irrespective of styling and whether or not the Dominar is a tourer, my major concern how the Dominar will be during the monsoon. It has quite a lot of sensors, and I'm afraid that these will be ruined during heavy rains like we experience specially in Mumbai. Any insights on my concern?
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is the most powerful bike in 370 cc engine.. Good mileage.. Nice features and upgrade bike in 400 cc engine and always nice compare with Himalayan bike mfg by royal Enfield this company Enfield is very popular and young youth is very impressed.. Your review is very nice compression about both bike..
It's like "OLD- ROYAL-LEGACY v/s MODERN- INDIGENOUS-BLOOMER"..in EVOLVING- ENTERPRISING INDIA. GOOD- HEALTHY Competition...KEEP it UP¡ I just love BAJAJ, to stand for INDIA¡ A Great SALUTE from an EX-IAF ian.
auto car channel is the best according to me . but my favourite is Himalayan : king of off-roaders but dominar is a typical racing type motorcycle . dominar is one of the best cruiser bike
Himalayan build quality and technology is like a bike that should have been launched 5 years back. Dominar is more of a current age and more value for money which matters most.
Bajaj Dominar does dominate with it's new stylish look and brilliant engine. Being a huge fan of Royal Enfield, I always opt for Enfield than any other brand but this time I just might give bajaj a chance because there ew launch is impressive. AutoCar with yet another brilliant review giving lots of insights. Thank You AutoCar.
Both the bikes are unique in their own way. I would prefer #Dominar for long rides. RE Himalayan for laddakh maybe. #AutocarIndia this is the best comparison video for category. Cool stuff
Bajaj motorcycles give all the weight in the handle and hence are ruff and tuffer to handle rather than royal enfield which has all the weight just below the seat which allows better handling and more comfortable ride.
Someone please help me take a final decsion between both...my main purpose for purchase is extra long touring to Kerala, Bhutan, Ladakh etc. Which one will stand apart both in looks and performance. I am confused entirely :(
Why no ABS for the RE himalayan? While the same sold overseas, has ABS.... Everyone is making Indians a fool....Yes....I do have a complain about that...
First I'm decide to buy a RE Himalayan. Then I saw Bajaj D400 and decided to buy it. And now Bajaj has launched D250 now what to do please suggest me better way..😣
Dominar all the way now make no mistake I love royal Enfield's but in this comparison the dominar is the more practical bike for everyday use and the long trips. Wish Bajaj made a twin cylinder but I know the single cylinder saves cost of build but may some day 😉
Essentially the Dominar is the new-age adventure and touring bike, while the Himalayan is the classic. Which one to buy, depends on the buyer's inherent nature.
instead of having larger disc, ABS and lesser price, dominor is not the perfect tourer. its better for city comuting and speeding on highways...But guys..the term TOURING..doesnt mean just speeding on highways...Himalayan is much more composed and comfortable for long rides. Dominor is undoubtedly a good machine..but not for touring point of view. I mean ...guys just have a long test ride...u ll get to know the difference between touring abilities of both these bikes....thank u..and ride safe.✌✌✌✌
both bikes belong to different classes, Bajaj Dominar appears more of a powerful 400cc racing bike whereas the royal Enfield himalayan is more of an off-road bike.
Bajaj surely has hit it out of the park with Dominor while Himalayan will get new set of customers to Enfield. But pitting both against each other is like comparing apples to oranges IMO
It is waste of time to compare Dominor with Royal Enfield because Royal Enfield Better than Dominor, Dominor is sport bike and Royal Enfield is Adventure bike...
these Motorcycles have there own identity! yes but there touring capabilities and price range put them in comparison. need to ride both to make the decision.
Dominar and refinement are opposites. I could hear the same old clatter of 180, 200. ABS is the proud addition. Sorry to say, but Indians have a long way to make refined, clutter free engines. Bajaj and Enfield needs to appreciated because they battle a price conscious market.
DOminar is VFM Bike and Himalayan is more of a offroader.Normal commuter will never except Himalayan but I would love to have Himalayan in my stable.
Himalayan is the best when comes to off reading.
Dominor has a powerful engine but I think both fall in different categories to be compared
Dominar for strict cruising and Himalayan for cruising and offroading !!! RE should work in increasing power of Himalayan and including ABS
Hary Sree ABS is not effective in off road. It skits i.e ABS to be off in off road conditions.
It has included
@First Name Last Name lucky the bs6 comes with it
Good comparison by Autocar. So the Dominar is for city + touring and the Himalayan is for off roading + touring. Himalayan needs a refresh and probably a price cut 😀
I am impressed by bajaj dominar 400, it's simply awesome.
Best comparison of two different worlds made for same reason - Cruising... A big thumbs up for Autocar team 👍👍
I actually had both of these bikes in mind when I thought of buying a bike. But I did not have time to do a lot of research. Then came autocar and Voila! All my doubts were cleared after watching this review. Thanks to Autocar now I can make an informed decision. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ityendra soo wht u dicidie? ?
Which bike did you choose??
He chose ktm 125
Bajaj Dominar is amazing
I have just bought Himalayan
Vishnu M how is the bike?
How is the bike bro? Especially mileage?
@@karthickraj1494 25-35kmph
Its awesome bro
bro does it suit to the person height of 5.6 or 5.7
hope bajaj makes a scrambler bike and after the success of avengers wud really love to see more cruise bikes frm bajaj
Nice review Autocar.........having tested both the bikes I too felt a lot more comfortable on the Himalayan. The Dominar is just not refined or comfortable enough for long distances.
Nice comparison. Keep the knowledge flowing.
Wat a amazing bike RE Himalayan!!! loved to ride it...🏃🏃🏃
Autocar is the most reliable magazine for analysing the latest vehicles. Autocar is most unbiased and most trustworthy. Keep up the good work. Best wishes always. Bhisham Makhija
I will always pick Royal Enfield Himalayan over Bajaj Dominor.
This is a great review and has given good clarity as to which bike to go for depending on ones preferences. Good work 👍
@autocarindia subscribed !! nice comparo.. something that i was waiting for!
they both are from different categories. still explained a lot about two products. nice work by Autocar india. cheers😊#AutocarIndia
Autocar India is beyond doubt a channel superseding all. The coverage of current and upcoming vehicles has a phenomenal impact on 4G + generation. I would say one should rather must go for it if one has passion to roll over and command to screwed up to new vehicles. Keep it up Autocar...!!!
Awesome review! Just subscribed to the channel for more exciting reviews to come!
Was waiting for this comparison review. Thanks autocar

Anil Pagare
good luck
Anil Pagare I cancelled my classic 500 booking in favor of Dominar
Bajaj has come a long way from the humble chetak to the dominar. The company has redefined its lineage.

I rather trust the. Dominar.. Though Himalayan is meant to tour.. Absolutely terrible quality means lots of things break down lots time
Wanderer tell that to the people who have already done 20k plus on the dominar. Dominar has proven to be reliable and capable on highways and off roads unlike the himalayan.
U sure you prefer Himalayan over dominar LOL
Legend Vs Icon... !!! :-))
Is dominar good as a daily commuter?
Prashant Shubham Yes.
Prashant Shubham Turning radius is very high. i own D400 and 2010 TBTS 350 .. I can say D400 is good for high speed highway riding.. TechKerala what is tbts?
This comparison guide video solved all my concerns.. thanks Autocar
Bajaj Dominar 400 the best vehicle i can find
no doubt,himalayan.I love RE himalayan.
its an unfair comparison.. when it comes to state of the art tech, Bajaj is way ahead of RE. And both these 2 wheelers caters to different class of audience which adds to the fact that the comparison is unfair

Dominar 400 or RE Gunmetal Double disk.
Please suggest which one i should go for...
Irrespective of styling and whether or not the Dominar is a tourer, my major concern how the Dominar will be during the monsoon. It has quite a lot of sensors, and I'm afraid that these will be ruined during heavy rains like we experience specially in Mumbai. Any insights on my concern?
was waiting for this from so long!!
Dominor 2019 is bs6 engine is it true...
Team,
Please can you compare the same in 2020
As I am planning to take bs6 himalayan this feb
Dont worry man..re nvr improves on their bikes.so now domi would be bettr and himalayn wld be the same.
Your review is very nice compression about both bike..
both being that amazing, it helps when such a detailed comparison is done!!! #awesome
very detailed review.nice work autocar.
definately my pic would be dominar as they say it's a power cruiser
bajaj dominar is a good bike but royal Enfield is not a bike it's a emotion
kunal puri Haathi mat paalo!
Sahi hai bhai
Ofcourse, you’ll definitely get emotional when it breaks down in middle of nowhere.
Typical fan boy😒
RE is an emotion true, after buying it we will cry like this 😪. And regret buying it.
Awesome comparison.. thumbs up :)
I wish dominar was vibe free , would have been near perfect
where can I get Himalayan bike handlebar grad, which is in your video
impressive review...you showed & compared both bikes very well..
RE is getting worse by the day anyways! Lowering standards isnt going to help!
Ankith Hegde then why are there sales increasing daily no one can beat Royal Enfield
Royal Enfield growing and they are best in market
Quite a comparison. Dominar is still my pick!
Bajaj should include touring accesories like paniers and topcase as an option.
yes you are right bro.
The two Bajaj Dominar and Royal Enfield can be compared on only their engine specifications but both bikes have different style and domain
thanx autocar India for such a wonderful well-defined unbiased comparison...:))
It's like "OLD- ROYAL-LEGACY v/s MODERN- INDIGENOUS-BLOOMER"..in EVOLVING- ENTERPRISING INDIA.
GOOD- HEALTHY Competition...KEEP it UP¡ I just love BAJAJ, to stand for INDIA¡
A Great SALUTE from an EX-IAF ian.
auto car channel is the best according to me . but my favourite is Himalayan : king of off-roaders but dominar is a typical racing type motorcycle . dominar is one of the best cruiser bike
Himalayan build quality and technology is like a bike that should have been launched 5 years back. Dominar is more of a current age and more value for money which matters most.
comparo i've been waiting for ...!! which one to buy ?? with nearly same price...
when you will upload video for Honda City facelift 2017
one qustion if you want a budget cruiser for a long run what should be chosen? dominar or himalyan
SiDdHaRtH BhAtT None, we still don't know how both fair in the reliabilty aspect.
For long run u should go for Japanese bikes, new FZ250 is a good buy for a tight budgt
On long touring...anyone experienced how the dominar handles a 75 liter of load at the back and another 10 liters of spare fuel on the front side?
at 1:43 Bluetooth
Both the bikes are unique in their own way. I would prefer #Dominar for long rides. RE Himalayan for laddakh maybe. #AutocarIndia this is the best comparison video for category. Cool stuff
Enjoyed watching the video! I love cool Bikes. Good comparison test. Looking forward to more such videos from you. :))
A great- superb fight for MOTO INDIA, between BAJAJ DOMINOUR v/s ROYAL ENFIELD...GOOD RIDING...ThumpsUp!...
Bajaj motorcycles give all the weight in the handle and hence are ruff and tuffer to handle rather than royal enfield which has all the weight just below the seat which allows better handling and more comfortable ride.
the best review, now i know what should i buy !! thank you #autocarindia
Autocar gives the best comparisons. Please do a review video on vespa sxl 150. I've only seen comparison videos on it here.
I like Bajaj the most ... nice design n good handling n sporty feel .
Do anybody have an idea when will RE will launch Himalayan ABS + BS4 version in INDIA?
Swapnadeep Biswas Rumoured to be out in March
Thank you Vishal Asokan.
no idea, maybe in march or july.
Swapnadeep Biswas never :3
Nishant Sethi why
nice bikes but where does one but it in the USA?
Can you do a comparison video between dominar and RE Himalayan latest FI version.
5:33 to 6:00 truth has been spoken HIMALAYAN is better.
good explanation and good comparison
Are both bikes comfortable for 5'7'' height?
Hai autocar India
how could you compare RE Himalayan and Bajaj Dominor
Someone please help me take a final decsion between both...my main purpose for purchase is extra long touring to Kerala, Bhutan, Ladakh etc. Which one will stand apart both in looks and performance. I am confused entirely :(
Why no ABS for the RE himalayan? While the same sold overseas, has ABS.... Everyone is making Indians a fool....Yes....I do have a complain about that...
thanx man I was looking into this
First I'm decide to buy a RE Himalayan. Then I saw Bajaj D400 and decided to buy it. And now Bajaj has launched D250 now what to do please suggest me better way..😣
This guy explains every thing very nice.
Both the vehicles are good in their own way. While Dominar is the modern beast, Himalayan is the raw beauty.
what is the mileage of D400 and tank size?
Great showacase for the new Bajaj offering.
Dominar all the way now make no mistake I love royal Enfield's but in this comparison the dominar is the more practical bike for everyday use and the long trips.
Wish Bajaj made a twin cylinder but I know the single cylinder saves cost of build but may some day 😉
Dominar is miles ahead of RE. Very good comparison test..
Essentially the Dominar is the new-age adventure and touring bike, while the Himalayan is the classic. Which one to buy, depends on the buyer's inherent nature.
Nice comparison by autocar though.
instead of having larger disc, ABS and lesser price, dominor is not the perfect tourer. its better for city comuting and speeding on highways...But guys..the term TOURING..doesnt mean just speeding on highways...Himalayan is much more composed and comfortable for long rides. I mean ...guys just have a long test ride...u ll get to know the difference between touring abilities of both these bikes....thank u..and ride safe.✌✌✌✌
Both carried a promise much bigger than what they delivered
both bikes belong to different classes, Bajaj Dominar appears more of a powerful 400cc racing bike whereas the royal Enfield himalayan is more of an off-road bike.
what is the minimum hight suits Royal Enfield Himalayan??
Which bike i should buy, dominar or RE 350????
ashish bera Buy RE TB500 if average is not an issue and u want comfort and power both.
Bajaj surely has hit it out of the park with Dominor while Himalayan will get new set of customers to Enfield. But pitting both against each other is like comparing apples to oranges IMO
I give preference to bajaj dominar 400 because it's cost is low, high power, high torque, suspension is best, so I will prefer bajaj dominor
It is waste of time to compare Dominor with Royal Enfield because Royal Enfield Better than Dominor, Dominor is sport bike and Royal Enfield is Adventure bike...
I already watched the review 100 times but one more time cuz autocar india personally messaged me
Ajay Rathore
these Motorcycles have there own identity! yes but there touring capabilities and price range put them in comparison. need to ride both to make the decision.
Though both comes with comparable engine displacements, these are two separate categories...
Dominar and refinement are opposites. I could hear the same old clatter of 180, 200. ABS is the proud addition. Sorry to say, but Indians have a long way to make refined, clutter free engines. Bajaj and Enfield needs to appreciated because they battle a price conscious market.
Loved Himalayan, but now crazy for Dominor
That's an amazing bike.... look forward to see more on roads.
