- I ended up going 3 for 3 in the qualifier earlier this morning (4am). Now we are facing off for the semi-finals. If we win this game, we will advance to the finals for an opportunity to close it out and take home the tournament. Let’s make it happen!

I like how the dice were SO nuts no one was complaining about Drew or any actual plays! Sometimes the cookie really do crumble that way.
Those 11s were glorious! Great assessment on the wood port race being a losing one, I've been trying to up my game and that helps a lot. Not sure if the next game has happened yet but gl!
I know this is confirmation bias, but it always seems like when a number pops off, 11 pops off the hardest.
Facts.
I thought initially there was tons of pressure but purple getting plowed, dandy getting sooooo much free uncontested space early with all the other competition points occurring elsewhere just gave a perfect storm for when the dice went hot. From a gold players perspective y’all seemed skilled but sometimes someone runs away with it and a game gets out of hand. WP to all IMO.
Again such insane intuition and board reading by drew this game. Not all of us could pull that off despite those things going in his favour

One thing I think people dont appreciate about Catan for the most part is how impactful not getting plowed in the early game is. The trade that Dandy made with Purple for a non-plow was actually so huge. That port allowed Dandy to get his city, to port for road, to win the game, really.
Catan is a game where the return on resources increases with time, so trading something as common as a nonblock or one resource for a nonplow is game changing (and consider this, the game would've looked much different if instead of using his roads to go for 6 9 12 Purple had plowed. It would have, at the very least, forced Dandy to drop his own roads protectively to build to 8 3 instead of filling out the center of the board so quickly).
Great video! Also easy to follow allong with your thought process, which can be a real challenge with other Catan youtubers

The dice stats, especially the 9 and 11, looked just like two towers. They were a bit too similar, you could say they were twins... coincidence? Hahah

You had all numbers except 2 and 12. You put yourself in the position to get ahead with any dice roll. Was one of your best first settlement picks, was not that obvious with that 5 ore.
I’m curious, why city on the 4 5 8 if the 8 already gives you 2 sheep? Dont you wanna diversify your rolls, instead of makint the 8 an even more obvious target?

Hey! For the second placement road, why was pointing left a bad option? Getting the second source of brick enables you to quickly go to the 9 11 4… or at least that‘s what I think :D also the road network is getting bigger, right?
Pointing left might put some alarms for black to potentially attempt a plow. Much safer to get the 9411 for the extra wheat and evaluate from there
@@dandydrewgotcha. In that regard, I feel like black has to win the race to the woodport first, but I see the risk coming along with that decision.

I think 6-5-11 road to 3-10-11 was a better play getting more brick your brick is a big target

With the smarts yeah but Phil Ivey isn’t nearly as personable. Drew aligns much more with kid poker’s knowledge sharing / community growing

There's not much Drew can do for poor audio quality from other players.
You can't give us qualifiers and semi ... and not post the finals... come on, it's okay to post a loss every now and again especially if it completes a story line
