Hey! If you did the agreed trade with orange for a brick for 2 sheep, you could 4:1 your ore for another wood and connect for LR for the win. Did you miss that play?
I guess it depends how you look at it, but since he said the trade would not give him the win, I'd say the trade was on the condition that he was not allowed to win with it. I know he said it before stealing the brick, but still I'd consider it a non-binding deal to not win with that trade.
Always nice vibes in your videos! I’ve learned a lot about catan with you, you always explain everything so well and the outcomes are most of times as you predicted! Stay well and keep up the good work! ✌️ Blue player has the same name as me and supports the same club xDD funny world Vamos Diogo caralho, Viva o Porto! 😊
Thanks for the kind words. Quality experience will give you a predictive ability but it takes time. A lot of people don’t realize I’ve played over 5000 games of catan at this point. Stay great :)
Hey Drew, I’ve been really enjoying getting into catan and watching your videos. I commented on an earlier video that I’m usually a magic the gathering player, but I think I found the link that makes me enjoy catan so much… I also majored in economics! (You did too, right?) Maybe I’m wrong on that, but my degree is in International Resource Economics. I love talking about magic in terms of resource management, but *duh* Catan is exactly that too!
Resource management or hand management as it’s called in Catan is key. So many economic principles in a game of catan… I love it! Glad you are enjoying the content and best of luck as you continue to grow in the game.
24:45 yo taking the agreed upon trade wins game xD didnt you take it cuz u promised beforehand that "its not for the win" or was some voice chat cut or something? edit: nvm I saw your reply on another comment regarding "kingmaking trades"
Trying to practice what you taught in the other lesson yesterday! I would have gone 6-9-3 as second because leaving that spot for third gives them a really strong OWS with all but guaranteed strong ore. As first, I guess I also thought 6-9-3 seemed best because I wasn't really sort on the 6-2 + 5-8-10. I think having the 6 wheat also gives you a very strong advantage without the 6-2 and I didn't feel like the 6-2 + 8-5-10 was strong enough. Plus it basically gives you more wheat than everyone on the board since it's mostly 3s and 6s. which means that if someone goes wheatless you can afford to trade more and you're basically guaranteed a strong ore spot. Haven't seen the game (paused after the second player picked) so I'll have to see how it turns out for you :3
@18:20 I’d have considered a brick mono for the road settle on the 5 sheep 3:1. 8 ore is blocked all day long but matching the sheep production and gaining a 3:1 this early would have been huge. Might seem like a waste of a mono but without a port i don’t see how you’d find a better one Could consider pacing issues but idk road settle is impossible for you to do otherwise imo The way you used it was probably better
Why wouldn't you pick 1095 first? Is it because it can't keep up production wise on such a high ore board? I thought it would be good since it's the best road material spot and I think you can get ore with your last pick
Wooooow that trade from orange at @25.22 is crazy.... what was he thinking? They had zero chance to win after that trade. You won comfortably with no YoPs. Also, surely the 5 sheep 3:1 port is better as the 8 was just getting slammed the whole game and you had the ore already? Fair enough the robber didnt really go back on it, but that was just due to lack of 7s (as seen in dice stats after the game)
To be honest these players played really poorly... Not blocking you at all when u could be at 8 and everybody else on 5, no fast road steal possible etc. ... How can they agree to all these NS/NB for NS/NB deals with the guy crushing it. They just let you win easy
These are open tournaments that have a wide range of skills and personalities. I would say a lot of these players are ranked players who are looking for new challenges and improvements in their tournament play. I think you are slightly discounting how much subtle dealmaking and discussion I put into the game. Also if orange had the mono on his last turn, I think he could easily get to 8-9 points and it’s not so clear from that point.
Only one mono and one Rb was played, that leaves both those and two YoPs in the deck and black had two non-knights, virtually confirmed two VPs, so yeah while Dandy could very well have 2 VPs as well, from the perspective of the other players, it's not very likely. He also made the table believe there was a mono out there, which was very smart because players get really scared of mono in the late game. And black was trying to steal blue's road that would have killed blue because he has no space to take it back. It's easy for us to see from Dandy's perspective how strong he is, but in the middle of the game it was not that obvious for the others, especially with all the effort he put into concealing how close he was.
@@fisher00769 fair point. Cant deny the objective strength and acceleration potential from his setup there tho. Bought a dev or more Almost every Single turn. These nonsteal agreements made sure He win faster than the others in like 80% of time imo... it just wasnt Balanced while dandy made them believe another Player is the threat right now.. very smart Plays indeed but at the same time kinda weak from the opponents to let him get away with it
The steal when asking for sheep reminded me of my game recently against my wife and friends. Wife agreed to a non block in exchange for her sheep for whatever card I steal (which was likely going to be a brick or ore) and when I stole a wood she didn't trade me because she didn't need a wood. I was a sad and upset panda.
I remember watching this after twitch and they said you could've taken road and I didn't see it. Only close spot was when you were offering sheep ore for a wheat, but orange thought brick and even then I don't think you were on road.
The idea was to trade for the brick for 2 sheep (as part of the deal) and port the ore for wood, giving me 2 roads. My only concern about that is Catan Community has very vague rules on kingmaking trades and I usually just keep it simple and stay away from them. In any other situation, I would instigate the winning trade and take road for the win.
These people are kinda stupid how much they are trading you honestly especially the last one where he traded you a wheat for 2 ore like wtf you don't trade with someone who has 3 devs and 6 points knowing he will be on 7
Really wholesome voice chat :D You're making some good content Dandy

Is the voice chat through discord? If so, can you put the chat voice overlay during game play so we can see who's talking a little easier??
That is on future streams as I updated my streaming setup after this weekend. It’s coming!
Nice tabletalk
Wow voice chat is wayyyy less toxic lol
top players are actually human
go on then
Then forgets to come for the finals haha
Shhhh 🤣
