This was the 4th and final game we played that night. A lot of people are mentioning the blocks on blue but it was 100% needed to survive this game. It was a great time playing these games and sharing them with everyone. Stay great! - DandyDrew

Is there anything in ranked against having multiple people working together? It seems like you’d have a distinct advantage. I know it’s for coaching and content purposes but it does seem a little unfair to the other players

@@xraidev There is no official ruling on this, but I hope people understand this was purely done for entertainment and educational purposes. Dylighted is a veteran player who is winning over 50%+ of his ranked games on his own - He doesn’t need help from anyone to rank up. Every player should be focusing on how to maximize the potential of their position with optimal play, and “the competition” doesn’t change that principle. In the long run, your level of skill and ranked rating will find where it belongs.
Damn, that was a close game despite blue getting almost all his settle spots denied. I could never have recognised blue's strength just with the starting positions and started targeting him from the get go. Great play from yall two! I've been loving your games with Drew. I used to dislike his table talk but seeing his skill really changed my impression. Also really liked the editing on this video, the music bait was really good!

Blue had the practical ore monopoly, with little ability for others to get ore. Plus they had a really good ore / wheat / sheep setup for getting development cards too. I think blue's start position was better than anyone's.
It's said that poor Jake is still waiting for his brick even to this day...
He should have enforced the deal. He just forgot and then traded to get Brick and got 2x from the 12 roll.
To be fair I was not expecting the 12s to come through 😂
I think a 3:2 in the initial deal and a future brick would have been good.
It's really impressive how well and fast Dandy sees opportunities for the right trades.
Out of all the Catan content creators, I look forward to your videos the most not only because of the strategy and tips but mostly because the game obviously still excites you and it's just fun to watch.

Editing is absolutely fantastic in the opening spot choosing sequence. Wow. Makes it so smooth to follow the theory behind the conversion rather than having to pause and find every spot at every anecdote made. Well done man.
The insight to see the strength of blue is amazing. He would of ran away with the game if he hadn't been targeted and plowed and even still it was close!
Also, trading at this rating is on another level. You guys knew what cards your opponents had, what their plans are, and therefore what cards they want/need, and would set up amazing trades. Fun to watch!

Also, don’t see why people are saying blue “deserved” anything. It doesn’t make sense to me that people are salty for you trying to play your best and use all the tools at your disposal on this even playing field to win the game. You outplayed blue through communication, he chose to get salty and solidify the rest of the table against him, when if he had taken a more diplomatic approach and not given up at certain points he could’ve easily gotten the table to focus on you more and potentially gotten the win.

Jake the rake here! GGs once again. Aside from my placements this game I thought I played well. It was just too slow to get started. I had to make a lot of trades with dylighted since my hands were always stuck and I knew red would take away blues potential. Unfortunately it also ruined my longest road out so it was a catch-22
are you happy to decide who wins when you can't ? because that's what you did this game. that wood trade to allow Dylighted to cut off blue was ugly, really.
@@odoacredacalcutta5085 every move I make is to try to win the game, you could say I had the power to decide who wins, but if I don’t trade Dylan blue wins a lot earlier making a chance for my comeback impossible, versus extending the game longer by helping Dylan get in a better position

yeah it's designed so high producing numbers 6,8 are never next to each other. The highest production spot possible is a 5-6-9.

Trading with bot kinda dirty
dude, you traded with the bot on a crucial moment of the game and in my opinion that voids this victory. Bot trades are completely unbalanced and are also banned from ranked games since the latest patch on Colonist... kinda sucky to be honest

Just tried this strategy twice in a row (once with wheat, once with sheep) and lost both as 2nd. If the blocking oppurtunities occered better, I would have won them both tbh

Recognizing blues power even while he is blocked, has no spots, and is very tilted is very impressive, but the dirty mono on bot is very cheap and shouldn’t be allowed

You played a great game until you used that mono trick on the bot. The honorable move is to tell everyone to embargo the bot. If your opponents won’t do it, I can understand making that play. But in this case it felt like a cheap win.

@@Catwomen4512 the ai is not smart enough to embargo the biggest threat, so you can get trades that would never happen irl. Also when the bot offer trades it becomes a race to see who can click faster or calculate faster, and I don’t think that should be a part of the game. Your right that it’s not technically an unfair advantage, but it’s also not part of how the game was originally designed.
@@Catwomen4512 yes and if anyone trades with the bot it is bad etiquette.. seeing as Dylan is a streamer and KNOWS that it is pretty cheap play to do what he did, I think it's fair to say it was a bad decision overall

@@szymonryba8162 And despite that he still almost won. That's competitive Catan, you have to team up against the person in the best position or else they'll win easily. If they don't like it, they shouldn't play.
you're just looking at it from the perspective of the people who made this video. Blue was clubbered and colluded against very heavily from the beginning to the end, even when it was already very unlikely for him to win. He was cut to the point that he had only 1 spot for a settlement (and by mistake, btw), he had no ports at all... basically drawing 4 vps was his only win con and still he was clubbered to death. and by who ? the one who ended up winning. how would you feel in his spot ?

Trading with the bot is a smart tactic. If they wanted to, the devs could use an AI to make the bot play better. They choose not to. So trading with the bot is fair and square, or is it hexagonal?
They just removed trading with a bot in a recent update for ranked play. So it is no longer a factor
ive been watching u for a while now since im new and trying to learn and ive learnt a lot.... but that dirty mono with the bot wasn't cool at all honestly..

it took you collusion with black since the beginning and trading with the bot to win over blue. Honestly speaking, that cut off from 3 tiles away by trading for wood with black for a future brick (that btw in the end he didn't even get) was disgusting to see. It really didn't do black any good, actually it only ruined his chances of taking longest road. Honestly how would you feel if you were blue in this game ?
