I really hope Geoff doesn't feel pressured to keep singing as low or as high as possible. We don't think of you as a frequency generator, Geoff. Your range is incredibly awesome, but it's the quality of the notes sung that is truly spectacular. I hope you keep singing as low, high, or mid-range as you enjoy. You know we'll love any of it.
I don't think I've ever heard somebody referred to as a 'frequency generator,' even by implication, and I am definitely going to use it in future.

i think the same so often people claim to be bass and cant actually sing a note any1 can make deep voice sounds , but VERY FEW can Sing low and make it sound good my uncle and his acapella group have a decent bass but 99% of youtube bassers really suck. Geoff is so freaking good at singing period

True, but here's the kicker...we don't FALL IN love nor do we FALL OUT of love. We either LOVE or we don't. LOVE is ACTION NOT WORDS/FEELINGS. What we FALL IN/OUT OF is INFATUATION; LUST; FEELINGS. Most people don't even know what LOVE actually IS or even how to DO LOVE. Just like the end of the song says....NO ONE REALLY LOVES ANYONE....and that's the cold/hard TRUTH.

This.. this is.. I literally have no words. Geoff’s voice in this song is just - bliss. He’s honestly making love to the microphone with his voice and it’s just simply unbelievable, amazing, indescribable… you get the point. Geoff is just so incredibly talented. My mind is completely blown by this song. Literal CHILLS with every word!!

When I first saw these four quad triplets sing together so harmonious I fell in love with them right away. It took me weeks before I found out it was just one man singing all these different tones and lyrics. Mind wouldn't allow me to believe it, I am still having trouble believing it. I am not surprised about his bass voice because I grew up around Church quartets. But the fact this man has such a awesome range of all four tones of singing vocals is just darn astonishing! Geoff if you read these comments Thank you and God bless you. I cried the day Marty Robins died I had just turned fifteen and I so much loved his music. I heard you sing a few minutes of his song "Big Iron" and I cried again, you did such a good job of it. Could you please sing more of Marty Robins songs for me and make an old woman happy reliving her youth. Thank you. I loved Paul Bunyan's song as well.

Those were also from bass instruments in the background, as well.
About 2:31, I could be wrong naming it E1. I think he stops at an F#1, for a brief timestamp.

After multiple listens, it occurs to me that there are repeated builds then falling back. Just like the relationship; step forward then back. Such an intriguing detail.
I keep coming back to this. Haunting and yet ethereal with that awesome 'purr'. I had already loved this song from the original Now after hearing Geoff's several times I need to say just how much more emotional he made it. Previously, I really liked the higher parts, but Geoff has changed those into an almost breath. Not that he sings it in a particularly breathy manner, but more that it is so natural it is almost like breathing. Whereas, Isaak's high bits were more like a yodel. And usually, I prefer Geoff's more 'rounded' tones in his bass voice, but these more gravelly purrs feel more like a 'catch-in-the-throat' emotion. This is just gorgeous! And getting more gorgeous every time I listen to it. Visually perfect, too! Almost like the subtlety of fog. So many shades of grey.
Glad I was doing a "listen to Wicked Game covers night" today, and fell over this gem in the process. :)
And I thought Chris Isaacs version of wicked games was cool but Geoff just elevated it to another lvl

I like it stripped down to just the vocals with a Piano while he had white walls with windows.... simple, elegant, and it really makes you focus on just the amaziness of his rang and the beauty of his voice. You can really focus on every inflection, Man is too talented!

The simplicity of this arrangement stripped back and raw gives it all of the emotion the original missed. Its stark low rumble then ascends to a chorus in the clouds. Love it.

From the opening notes, tears sprung to my eyes, not only from the chords this time but by the plaintive cries of that piano. The arrangement as well as the instrument choice (not just that it's piano, but the type/timbre/tone of the piano) is absolutely perfect in conveying the heartbreak of these lyrics. I could have sworn that you slowed down the tempo from the original, but comparing the two, they are both at about 112 bpm and then I realized - Chris Isaak’s version has percussion on 1-2-3-4, but you’ve chosen to halve that, which gives the *illusion* of being slower. Really changes the mood of the song!
Geoff, your choices just amaze me! I love how you utilized the main motif of this song in so many cool ways. At 1:04, it was super cool to hear, behind the lines of the verse, the motif of the chorus in the high, high piano, starting on an F#5, coming down to E, then D and *lingering on that D to create an E7 chord* (excuse me while I swoon for a moment) before finishing the line down to C# and then B. Then it repeats, but this time not lingering on the D and resembling more of the "I...don't want to fall in love" melody line.
At 0:19, there's an A in that B minor chord, turning it into a Bmin7 chord which just has such *richness* and depth and interest. Holy smokers.
At 1:18, using the above-mentioned chorus riff, but *backwards* (ascending) and in the bass clef as a transition to the next part of the song?? GENIUS! It's those little elements that really tie your songs together. (Not unlike The Dude and his rug.)

I literally sat here with a metronome comparing Geoff's version to the original because I thought his was slower as well.
I also landed at about 112 bpm for both versions, and ended my train of thought with just a "huh".

Every time, I think that I'm finally going in prepared. And every time, I am not. This one shakes me, hard. A gorgeous, emotional gut-punch, so beautifully bittersweet.
This is strange. I've listened to Geoff so many times that my ears seemed to be trained to expect certain things from one of his creations. The low notes...are resonant and give a shiver...because they are as good as it gets, every time! When it's time to stretch his range, the ears are expecting silk and melting butter, and they are rewarded. The harmonizing is anticipated, and every time it's like...omg...as the ears are taken on a ride. Putting his own uniqueness to a cover is just the icing on this velvet cake of hard work and talent. When the maestro sings, the ears are grateful to have all expectations met, and thank you for the enjoyment of truly beautiful music.

I love Geoff's low notes and crazy abilities. I have to say though, I love his higher notes just as much. Such as at 1:20 and 3:02. Geoff has a truly amazing voice that I can listen to for hours.

I’m so happy that you finally caved in to our demands…uh…requests for this song and even ended up enjoying it yourself. I always knew your voice would be a perfect fit for this, especially where it sits in the whispery part of your low chest range. The drops give me chills and when the harmonies hit, I feel like I leave my body for a second. It’s so beautiful!

This is another one like Phantom of the Opera. I love the original so much that I wasn't sure about how I felt. I had to forget the original and appreciate it as a different song and find things I liked rather than things I didn't. One thing remains true. I love Geoff's voice - especially in his mid range. It has such a sweetness to it.

There was a dance show (So You Think You Can Dance), and in season 10 one of the finalists (Amy Yakima) danced to this song. The dance and song were both beautiful, still one of my favorite routines. I'd never heard the song before then, but it's stuck in my head from that show. Seeing Geoff do a cover of it just makes me so happy, little trip down memory lane while also enjoying the newness of a cover.

Wicked game? Wicked bass. Wicked good. Such wickedly sweet vocals. In all seriousness I was blown away by how everything came together. I don't know what I fell in love with more, how this was sung or the piano playing. Gahhh my brain is on fire.
Very beautiful and therapeutic to sing along, the slowed down tempo makes so much of a difference.
Your song goes straight to my soul. So many of your songs make me feel like I'm back in my teens when I was in love. If you can find another one that you would like to try I would love to hear it.
