Jack's comedic value almost makes us forget how much of a talented musician he really is. That voice is insane
Im a huge Tenacious D fan, and even sometimes i forget that jack has golden pipes on him.
Seriously, the fact that they got celo green to sing kung fu fighting at the end of Kung Fu Panda and not jack black... the main god damned character, still bugs me.

Tenacious D was always a combo of ridiculous raunchy lyrics with some solid musicianship behind them.
Kyle is genuinely a master guitar player. Shredding and intense solos are cool, but really paying attention to what he does and how precise he is, you start to notice the rigid discipline and understand he has for the instrument.

Some of those Tenacious D songs, silly as they are, are great in a profound way. Like the Ballad of Hollywood Jack and the Rage Cage (can’t remember if that’s what it’s called) is like this beautiful epic about how their friendship has evolved through their success.
Then, of course, Fuck Her Gently is a song that’s like “guys, try to remember that the woman you’re having sex with is a person who needs tenderness.”

I think the technical prowess of this particular riff is lost on most. To get that sound, when he moves the guitar upwards at the beginning, he is bending the neck of the guitar to make the strings slightly longer and produce a lower tone.
