Back in April I bought one of these for my birthday. It was in a 2 inch pot but it was so pretty I had to have it. I repotted it and it grew tremendously! It must love the spot it’s in and today I noticed it’s first babies. I’m going to propagate it for my son. How a 1.99 plant can give me so much joy in 4 months is amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this plant. I just thought it was pretty!
Bought one of these at a car boot sale on Sunday for £1.50 the lady gave me a baby one for free too! Absolutely love it ❤can see it’s already grown in 3 days.
I’m a new plant mom and your channel has been SO helpful with tons of information. THANK YOU for taking the time to put all of this together for people like me!! 🤗💕 Please don’t ever stop!
I use the Plantum app and that’s really helped to remind me to water my plants or whatever else they may need plus great info about each plant I own.. Thought someone else might find it helpful too! ❤
I’ve found that these are very particular about their water. Like Prayer plants. They do not like harsh water. It needs to be filtered. I use rain water. Even when washing the leaves, I put rain water in my spray bottle.
How interesting! I've personally never found that with these plants, but that's really good to know, thank you. I agree with you about calatheas - I tend to use either distilled or rain water for all my drama queen plants
Hi there, I've been watching your videos on and off but I just subscribed to support you. As a youtuber myself i know how hard it is to grow and keep subscribers while YT is also deleting them. anyway, I always loved gardening, plants and have a green thumb and somehow I switched from collecting watches to collecting house plants and within 2 weeks I have 40 plants in my room. I bought 2 small Pilea Peperomoides, one is a busy popping out little babies and the other one is more selfish and growing on its own. They are still in 4" put that I bought them, so long way to go. Thanks again for great videos and that Brits accent. Cheers😘
This is so helpful! Ive got one thats got a really long stem and im worried its going to start sagging over as it grows more leaves. Im debating whether i should just chop it in half and try to regrow its roots at a smaller height
New here! I have recently acquired one of these plants and plan to keep it thriving! I have another cheapo plant I'm doing pretty good with this year as well.. thanks for all the tips!
So glad I came across your channel. I need help propagating my Chinese Money Tree. I thought I could add a pic here but I can't. So I have this really long "mother" stem that goes at least 16 inches from the top of the dirt with a ton of babies. Unfortunately the stem has lost a tremendous amount of leaves and was wondering if I can cut it back? If I could, can I cut it to the very bottom, probably leaving an inch or two? After that, can I put it on water or should it go into some wet soil? Thanks
Hi Claire, thanks for making this video! I got a baby one about 6 months ago and it's grown a bit, but one little leaf dried up. I had it by the window and my app suggested it was too bright for it. I've moved it but now wondering about watering because some leaves are looking more limpy. As it grows bigger, should I water it more often? Or more water each time/same frequency? Not sure how long the soil wants to stay dry for. Thanks!
Hiya! Yeah chances are if it was very close to a window it could have either been sun damage or cold damage. Moisture meters can be great to help you tell when you should/shouldn't water if you're not quite sure (you can find them really cheaply on amazon), but I personally just stick my finger into the soil and feel. So long as your plant's got good drainage in the pot you're using, allow the top inch or two of soil to completely dry out and then give your plant a thorough soak through - how often you have to do this will change with the time of year (changes in light/temperature/humidity etc etc) 💚
Hiya! Yes it worked and they're rooting well - I post updates on propagations on Instagram quite a lot but I'll also do an update vid at some point soon!
@@TheJungleHaven Thanks so much for letting me know. I don’t have instagram so I can’t follow your updates, so it was very useful to know that the propagation worked. I’m gonna try it then! Cheers and thanks :)
Love your channel! I wonder if you’ve heard the science about how pebble trays do nothing. They don’t create humidity in homes any measurable or significant amount, it seems.
Soak a towel in water and chuck it on your radiator at night to humidify your room. Common trick used by pilots and airline workers when they stay in hotels.
Thank you for this video, it was extremely helpful! I do have a question about what you said about the plant going into shock. How will having the roots being three inches long help prevent the plant from going into shock when you plant it?
I think my Pilea had root rot. It just wasn’t thriving, no matter what I did. After trying all the things I decided to chop the stem and try propagating it. Hopefully it works out!
You are extremely cute in your mannerisms, accent, and smiles😊 Are you possibly South African, or Australian? My mum's from S.A. originally, it's refreshing to hear a voice that reminds me of my visits there.
Thank you! I learned a lot from this video! I do have one question, you said this plant burns easily and I think mine is burnt… how do I fix that? Can I remove the leaves/stem and will it grow new leaves if I do?
Hiya - yeah personally I'd chop back any leaves that were seriously burnt so your plant can focus it's energy on the healthy growth. If the browning is still happening even after you've moved it away from such a sunny spot, consider upping the humidity 💚
My money plant is growing well but its leaves have started curling under. Also the outer edge of a few leaves are beginning to look a yellow color. Any thought?
If it's definitely getting enough light I'd have thought it's probably down to a watering imbalance (this is so common with these plants). Just make sure you're only watering as and when your plant actually needs it, and that it's got good drainage so that the roots aren't overwhelmed with water!
Great information, having trouble with my one. I've cut a few stalks off the main plant and put into water hoping for some roots eventually, another subscriber from London.
I just accumulated mine, the stem has a bad spot and leafs at the top are wilting can I trim off the bad part of the stem and place that in water or is it best just to do the leafs?
Hey :) this was super helpful! Quick question about propagating the pups. if you DO have a pup will you cut it off in the same manor with a little bit of the original stem? and then put it in water for a few weeks while waiting for the roots? Thanks :)
I have a question.. I put 2 leaves of this plant in water that accidentally fell off the plant... and they grew roots... is it gonna stay that way or will that grow a new plant? Because it didn't have a chunk of the stem like you said we had to do.
I've had this plant a few months now, just all of a sudden its leaves (pancakes) are really drooping its the bigger bottom ones mostly. It's been doing well until this, what should I do, she sits on windowsill in light and watered frequently just when when it's nearly dry, I'm worried as I've placed her in a cooler place thinking it might be too warm with heating being high. Can you please tell me how to help her, I love her, I know I can take a leaf cutting you showed me, or transplant a baby one, she has many. Thank you. too
Hi Claire, I have twin pileas, both in different rooms. Both doing really well...until, dah, dah, dah...the one in the kitchen decided to have a hissy fit and went all weird on me. The new leaves are tiny and curly and withered looking, some are blackish. What am I doing wrong? (PS, Thanks to you, I discovered hydrogen peroxide, so have now sprayed it a few times with a 4:1 water to H₂O₂ mix).
Hello, when I tried to propagate this way, I put the cutting into water and within 4 days the bottom of the stem fell off and I was left with just the leaf. I am not sure what that means. Thanks.
Ok so a friend gave me a leaf but there was no cutting of the stem so it's just the leaf with its stem but not a little chunk from the original plant stem, I've had that leaf in a small vase with water and it is now turning yellow or lime green, will the stem grow roots?
I just inherited a piece of my moms ands a single leaf with a stem came off ..it doesn't have a piece of the stem attached but it hasn't died..can it survive and propagate without the stem piece????
My little guy lost a ton of leaves while I was learning about her. She now has a very long bare steam. Is there anything I can do to increase new growth from below the main bunch of leaves. I have her in a window that gets a lot of indirect light. I turn my humidifier on in the morning and afternoon. I only water when the top few inches of soil are dry. But she currently looks more like a palm tree then a bushy plant
Often if you trim back the top of the plant (where growth typically sprouts from) this can encourage the plant to pump it's energy into lower growth points 💚
What do I do with the baby money plants? I've just dug down cut them and planted them In soil, is this wrong 😬 first time in doing this, I've just come across your video 🌟
Nope that sounds about right to me! Their growth can sometimes slow down for a while after being divided from the mother plant, but once they've settled they should spring back into action 💚
So, I inherited 2 of these plants. One had so many strong, really big leaves. Now they're all starting to fall. It doesn't look full like it did. It also has so many little roots around it which are also not growing fully...help!!
