    Lmao I feel like this is so basic for most ppl and all of us trauma survivors are here just like omg whaaaa u should feel safe as a child? Since when???
    Also my question is what was it like when you first discovered your system and how do u deal with it if you think you have alters but it kinda feels like they are trying to keep you in the dark about their existence lmao I’ve been trying to figure stuff out and sometimes I’m literally talking to them and then the next minute they’re shouting and being like ‘why are u making up the fact I exist lol I’m not real stop being stupid’ so I’m kinda confused and feel like it’s definitely not real sometimes and definitely real other times

      They (and other systems) have made videos on that - including the statement of denial and refusal being common signs/symptoms(?) of DID. :)

    I applaud your bravery for sharing! I know from experience how hard it is to get those words out. I personally like to say I'm a sexual assualt SURVIVOR because I will no longer give that person the power to make me their victim. When i started using that wording it was really empowering, maybe it will help y'all too? Thank you for your amazing channel!

    • @AcrylicAndAether
      @AcrylicAndAether  5 років тому +12

      I guess we’ve just never really felt connected with saying that we’re a “survivor”, and saying that we’re a victim makes us feel more in touch and okay with being vulnerable, since that’s something we’ve struggled with a lot. Maybe it’s because we keep doing that classic “but our trauma wasn’t THAT bad” thing, and saying survivor just doesn’t feel right. We should look up synonyms and find something even cooler to use 😂😂

      @@AcrylicAndAether Thank you for the reply! That's a very interesting way to look at things, I never thought about it that way. I love getting others perspectives on things, its so fascinating and we can learn so much from each other! Im not a system but have lived through a lot of trauma, most of mine after the age of 10. I have always been a "stuffer" with my feelings and emotions. That led to a lot of years of drug abuse to try to keep my emotions down. I used to always think of myself as a victim during those years. I've been clean 6 years now & through lots of counseling I've started saying I'm a survivor & it really did shift my mindset on my traumatic experiences. It took me several years & my counselor many sessions to get me to even try using the term survivor lol now it feels natural and empowering for me :)
      I would love to hear if you do find a synonym that y'all are comfortable using. Y'all are amazing & i love watching all your videos!!! Much Love!

    Thank you for sharing this! There's been a trend noticed by some psychologists between patients with DID and recovering memories of ritual abuse in their early 20s noticed as far back as when DID was referred to as MPD, so you might be able to find a lot of information on that quite easily (i know i did when researching how to help and support the systems i know)

    Trigger Warning: that’s some bull because cannabis is literally the only medicine that’s been able to reduce ptsd symptoms and take away completely my horrendous night terrors. I also have chronic pain from a surgery when I was a child and it’s the only thing besides opioids that touch the pain. I’m 18 and have made the decision for now that I’m not going to take opioids (even though they’re prescribed by my Drs) as long as I have the current access I do to medical marijuana. Best of luck to the whole system through your journey to heal.

    Thank you for being honest about what happened. I was born in the seventies and my generation didn't talk about abuse. I have some type of dissociative disorder. But I have not been diagnosed d.i.d. I have flash backs of being raped as a 5 year old. I am a grown woman now. I have never been able to have a healthy relationship with men since then. I just started trauma therapy. Don't know what to expect. I have had therapy in the past. For bipolar. But never really resolved child good issues. Maybe someday I can be brave like y'all are. Good luck on your path of healing.🤗

    Thank you so much for your bravery. Some things you talked about really hit home for me and made me understand myself better and why my brain wired itself the way it did. I don't have DID but I deal with dissociation and dehumanization. I also have a better understanding of my childhood imaginary friends after what you expressed. So thank you for sharing this. From one sexual assault survivor to another you are amazing, you are worthy and you did what you needed to in the moment to survive a very awful trauma. Hopefully none of this triggered you or anyone else. If it did I'm sorry that was not my intention. Lots of love!

    If anyone likes Kpop there are these hour-long clips here on UA-cam with songs that makes you feel bad-ass. Just in case you didn’t know.🙃
    Also, can alters who are fronting get flashback from trauma that happened in the headspace? Or maybe that depends on the system...🧐

    Xavier, In my system we have a few that are chameleons and kind of changes their mannerisms a lot as well. Funny enough Xander and his twin Alexis are some of those. Wonder if mysteries are with the X's lol! J/k. I feel like our system is starting to figure out some new things too and love the way you explained things about the memory synapses because we've had a similar theory but we imagine it with books and the older books are more fragile and delicate like ancient papyrus. They are too delicate for many of us to handle and those with that "expertise" can go and "read or open" it up. You all are doing great! Love hearing the developments of your journey!

    Until I learned about DID I didn’t know much about ritual abuse. This seems like is a very huge problem in America, most likely because of how many Americans who are religious. There is very little of it in Scandinavia, because most of us aren’t religious. It’s really sad and scary to learn about, it is horrendous and it makes me literally sick thinking about what children can be exposed for. The offenders should never be able to even be a part of society.
    I’m happy you are moving out soon, it doesn’t help being in a toxic environment, and hopefully it will be better once you move 🌸

    Hi Aether! (or do you prefer Aether System? - I just found you/your channel yesterday...)
    Thanks so much for your video and all the insights all of you (from both systems) give "us out here".
    I noticed a background noise during the duration of the video - a fan? since you mentioned it being summer... - and wanted to suggest/ask if it is possible to put an ANC filter onto recordings or something else for background noise reduction. It wasn't terrible; just an idea - I have no idea of technicalities in filming and editing and what's possible.
    Have a wonderful day/night/week! And looking forward to hearing/watching more from you. :)

    Wow honestly so proud of your strength for saying that Xavier. I found it something that was hard af to do personally but also found it empowering and over time made me feel like I was taking back control. I literally felt like I was hit in the chest when you said that because it made me feel like it gave me that much more strength and conviction in myself. Idk it's hard to explain but it made me feel empowered and in control the way you said it. Idk if this makes sense but it really hit me so thank you for this feeling of strength and power when I really needed it.

    Can i ask how does therapy work?
    Because I believe some of the trauma holding alters must need more help than some of the other alters but you can't know if they will be fronting at the appointment time. Also, can they actively avoid fronting just because they don't want to discuss those memories etc.
    It must be hard to convince all the alters that may need help to agree to talk about it.

    Kratom is a supplement that can help with intense pain, it binds to the same receptors that opiates use. Also, whole plant cbd extracts (none of that powdered cbd isolate stuff) don’t turn up on drug tests, and don’t leave you “buzzing”. Foria wellness is a company that delivers (expensive!) high quality extracts right to your house.

    Congrats on being able to plainly and bluntly state at least part of your trauma. The very first time I said it out loud I cried and vomited from the memories. I can now detach myself from it to tell my truth.

      Sumire Whisper definitely, triggers are a lot of things, and some may be triggered out with loud sounds or something fearful. I love Hollow. His box of blue things kinda reminds me of Smeagol/Gollum, but Elfen Lied makes sense, too!
    Btw, I'm also a victim of sexual assault. I got "only" depression and anxiety, though, not DID. I was 10 and it took me about three years until I realized what had happened (I mean, I knew what sex was, and I was not interested in it yet bc I was so young, but it took a few years until I realized it was sexual assault and that I was a victim). I seeked help when I was 19. I'm 27 now and I still have mental problems, but I'm doing a lot better than at 19-23. Those years were the worst, for some reason, when it comes to my mental health and self harm. Nowadays, I can manage.
    I hope you can move in with your partner system as soon as possible and be happy. :)

      My understanding of Valerian is that it can be counterproductive in the long run. Also it can have fairly negative mental effects for some people. But it is also a strong medicine that can be very helpful.

    I always thought it was interesting to think of alters as different reincarnated souls... Actual souls coming to your aid. Totally non- scientific... But fascinating to me.

      For us, especially early on in our journey of discovering who we really are, it was actually really grounding and validating when we came to the conclusion that none of us is a separate spirit, reincarnated or otherwise, inhabiting this body. Especially because of the experiences one of the hosts had where he did believe that some of our persecutors were spirits. We've all lived this life or lived lives in our inner worlds, and there isn't anything supernatural about our existence.

    I've always wanted to know...., Well, I understand that typically alters are born in the mind of a child. Did the child's mind create the idea of an alter, & once they are "born", the alter takes over from there...? As far as their own history, backstory, etc... Or is some of that subconsciously decided? As I've understood it, alters aren't really consciously created, & so it seems to me that some of the details, & specificity is beyond that of a child's understanding... so it seems indigenous to the alter themselves, if that makes sense?? 😟
    If you have any thoughts on this concept, I would love to hear more in your 7k Q & A! 🤗

      I've watched some of DissociaDID's videos and they discribe one of the newer leading theories on DID. Apparently everybody has several more or less distinct personalities as a child (think of how different an overly tired toddler behaves versus a hungry one or a happy one) and they integrate slowly until the age of 8 (I believe that's the age they mentioned). With early childhood trauma the amnesic walls the brain builds up means that one “part“ has different memories and thus forms a different character. Once the brain has learned doing this, it can do it again and again...

    • @cypher237
      @cypher237 5 років тому

      @@alexk7973 Yes thank you! I watch dissociaDID as well, & I get what the theory describes, but for me the level of detail is just fascinating, & it's hard to just say, the brain is a powerful thing, I really love every single detail, lol... To know why certain things occur & why certain personalities may have developed is so interesting, (I've seen them touch on that topic as well)
      I know we'll probably never have all the answers...
      But the brain is an amazing protector... and it will never cease to amaze me! 🤗

      @@cypher237 I guess it all comes down to survival instict and the fact, that the brain is “just another“ organ of the body, even though we often consider it to be seperate (mind and body kind of thing). If you think of it as such, the human body is a system of organs themselves, each with a specific function. Breathing, feeding etc.; the brain's function is to keep the ball rolling and to man the command center. I guess it goes to great lengths to fulfill it's role even under the most adverse of circumstances. But so do other organs, too. I'm thinking of people surviving on minimal amounts of lung capacity, with next to no kidney function and more. And not just people, animals in general. I'm just in awe of the force of life, if you want to call it that.

    • @cypher237
      @cypher237 5 років тому

      @@alexk7973 yes I totally agree, although when I start to remember all the normal shared functions between animals, & remember that the brain is just an organ like a liver or anything else, reminds me that magical, mysterious, spiritual things just aren't possible... & That makes me sad... 😝

      @alexk7973 5 років тому

      @@cypher237 well there are many people considering the life force itself very spiritual. I personally am a rather cerebral person, so while I love to analyze all of this and philosophize (is that even a word? Sorry not my first language) I don't feel a very spiritual connection to all of this. However many people do, and maybe that's a path for you to look into. Your connection to the world around you is very much uniquely your own and while there are many scientific facts that can't or shouldn't be denied, you can still define how you relate to the information given and how you value your unique relationship with yourself and the world around you. It's not for no reason, that a lot of scientists are very spiritual people, though most of the time they don't connect to any specific religion or school of thought ...
