  • Simon and Fenrir team up to teach about switching and what it is. In this video, they cover reasons for switching, signs of switching, and even some methods for switching. In addition, they define some of the vocabulary associated with DID/OSDD

    Switch slapping... what a good word for it. Oh my, once one of us was talking to a friend sitting in her car, when an acquaintance (not familiar with our system, only knows me, the host) snuck up and knocked on the window to say hi. I snapped out front so fast it was painful. Ugh.
    The reason for the switch was that we are a mostly covert system, and the one who was out is male and absolutely cannot pretend to be me-he’s just so bad at it. He wanted NOTHING to do with this acquaintance. Not to mention the knock on the window was a bit jarring!

      Gooosh i felt that but no one in my system cares that it’s obvious somethings off they never have which is how i found out about them semi quickly but theres timss where i get scared and the main protector fronts so fast it hurts and theres a 2 second dizzy spell. Its really funny when im play fighting with them when im talking to my boyfriend sometimes theyll be like “oooo i wanna talk to your loverboy” or something just to mock us and then next thing you know someone else is fronting and hes like “is this kai? I stg” (kai does it to him a lot and even pranked him by s*xting him pretending to be me as a prank) the are also the definition of gay for eachother but they dont like eachother that way it’s hilarious

    We frequently use music too to help us switch if we feel stuck in a situation, or sometimes just to get someone's attention. Food also works but that only works with a few alters in our system. Some of us feel nauseous when we switch too but not all of us. But we get those headaches too and they are pretty bleh! Thanks for the video, friends. Take care. -Dani

    This was such a great informative video. I experience switching a lot in my sleep. We have trauma flashbacks in the form of nightmares though almost every night so I always felt like that could be why we switch so much in our sleep. We also switch a lot during the day at least in recent months for sure. I usually lose count and have no awareness of how many times myself, but I think it’s awesome for you to be sharing your own experience, love to hear about it! Thank you for bringing this subject to light so hopefully more people can understand better!

    I just recently came to the realization that I am part of a system. It is entirely thanks to the educational videos that the DID community have made on UA-cam. I was so confused at first and didn't know what to do so I started with music. My whole life, music had been able to take me into "brain states" that could take me outside whatever trauma I was currently experiencing. Finding which music soothes which alters has been the most instrumental step so far in realizing that this is REAL and we actually EXIST. Thank you. Thank you so much. My partner has DID and your system (its complexity and size) is far more like what he seems to experience (not to invalidate other people) so it gives us great hope to see this represented online in such a positive manner. I am in a state of disbelief over the fact that this may be me -- but what's more crazy is that there might be an explanation for why I never knew who I was.

    Thanks for this video I had a very unusual switch today. It kind of has me shaking up and my body feeling wobbly and nauseous and stomach in knots. I am almost 99% co-conscious of my alters when they front but today I had a very disassociative moment for 40 minutes in therapy where I lost memory of what was going on and disassociated hard while coming to and it was very surreal to start therapy over again 40 minutes in. I feel kind of scared and a bit out of control because of it. Thanks for posting a video today! Needed this to help in my acceptance

    Thanks for explaining the headache, that totally makes sense!
    P.S. I don't like the blank in-between because spacing out and getting blurry vision is unsettling to me, so I like to close my eyes more often than not as I feel the switch coming on.

    "Nobody wants to front, Nobody wants to switch out, Nobody wants anything to do with whatever is going on..." Knowing there's an alter called Nøbødy in your system, makes all that section just a little chilling, like it kinda gives the idea he always wanted to be here he just couldn't. I´m on an autopilot... A LOT. And I don´t even want to, I just can´t handle being here for a long time lol and I´m the host and others don´t wanna be here too so... there was a time I thought that the autopilot is actually an alter but I guess not. Anyway.. Rn I´m partially on autopilot, I hate it so much, I just see the movement of my hands somehow typing what I say out loud in my mind.
    But I looooooove your videos, it helps so much!

  • @derive9994
    @derive9994 3 роки тому +2

    I can attest to the music one. My system's favorite band is Three Days Grace, and when I play "Get out Alive" our WHOLE system goes nuts. I've also realized just how powerful music is, because playing that song today for whatever reason actually got a new alter to front for us, who goes by "Ozzie". Our little loves "My Future" by Billie Eilish, and it's crazy how fast we can get alters to at least the headspace or co-con by just playing these songs. I have pretty thick amnesiac barriers between alters, but when I play music that everyone likes, it feels as if they are less intense and our memories blend a bit more (albeit being snippets sometimes). We're apart of a newer system, just recently discovering we have DID so all of this is really cool to learn about and see common with other systems! Thanks for the video :)

      @pumpkinhills7611 5 років тому +1

      @@meagangill6054 Oh boi XD basically I'm typically a pretty lucid dreamer so I'm used to being conscious while asleep but the alters who are purely made for sleeping are those that will kick in shortly before we fall asleep or while we're already sleeping. I'm pretty sure they were made just to let the brain have a break of some sort at least and it's quite literally like someone sleeping for you because you're unable to yourself but they sometimes can still be out and using the body after we wake up for a couple of hours. If that's the case they'll just carry on and basically do regular day to day stuff. There's a few different ones and one that both creates whatever is in the inner world and creates life-like dreams for other alters but that usually comes with heavy amnesia after you wake up since you don't know where you are or what year it is etc. your brain like resets. Hope that explains some of the aspects xD

    Listening to music and sleeping/napping have been very beneficial to us too, lol. We have a very strong 'autopilot' and we can do quite a bit in that state, but it's deeply uncomfortable the whole time 😬 We've wondered in the past whether we should consider 'autopilot' a separate alter, but it feels more like a distinct Lack of identity rather than a new one. It's a horrible, disturbing feeling anyway (and usually results in a nap asap!)

    The music trigger is something quite new for me. It makes sense tho. The one i use thats my music trigger is my pintrist. I have a board for each person. Usually if i got to that board (my noard labeled cute for the littles who love cute things for example) it triggers that split to front or become coconscious. I dodnt realize how many things could be a trigger to be switching so much. I struggle with maintaining control on the bus so keeping a playlist for a specific split could help maintain fronting. The easiest way ive learned to describe cofronting and coconscious is a virtual reality headset. The the person who is main front is the one not wearing the vr. Theyre the one doing the actions. The one who is either cofronting or the passenger of the coconscious is the one wearing the vr. It could be thqt the vr can have visuals, audio, movement or a combination.

    How does switching in the inner world look like? Do you just disappear when you front and reappear when someone else takes over?

    Question, feel free to not answer if you aren't comfortable.
    Have you ever had a bad switch? What I mean by this is a voluntary (or involuntary) switch that caused an instant migraine so bad you had to switch again or just leave a situation.

    That note Simon wrote, was it written in some sort of cipher code? I had to get someone to fill my post guarding the box in our universe so I could come speak to you.

    I have undiagnosed DID and my littles front when something catches their attention. 😅 the alter (split for me) who is the bitxh of the group often times switches out out of pure boredom. 😂 unfortunately for me i havent been anle to accurately pinpoint eqch split cause some are so alike that i cant always twll if ots a different split or the same split but with different feelings so its been a struggle. I am working woth a new therapist who has history with DID so that should help me on my journey.

    I was diagnosed with depersonalization... but I just realized I feel a certain way when I experience emotions/ and I get in (what I call moods ) I don’t really understand how exactly to explain it I just feel very different? Like a different person but I mean I still am aware that Im me???? Idk what it is I also get small headaches and it happens when I listen to certain songs that bring emotions. And I get nauseous and my vision goes black and I can’t remember certain things like what day it is etc man idk lmao

    i watch different videos like this often because i myself have DID and your switch was fairly smooth and i was curious to know if it is like this with all your alters or only him? you obviously aren't required to answer if you dont feel like it but i only ask out of curiosity because i know every system is different.

      Logan Montes if we're lucky, it's usually that smooth, but sometimes there's a lot more dissociation and we need to use music to ground ourselves. That's why we never leave the house without headphones lol

    Thats so strange that you feel it in your head when you switch. I have never fully switched but have been cocon with alters somewhat often to always.. they have "fronted" but I've always been mostly aware of everything. Anyway sorry my point was that I often feel very switchy.. especially when coconscious, and I feel it in the back of my head. Like in my brain. Like a really warm fuzzy foggy feeling.. do you ever get this? I don't usually get an actual ache but more of a dull uncomfortable feeling that starts from the back and feels like it spreads across my brain almost in waves.. feels weird

    I have a question. If you have a personality that is very smart, can you use that personality to do like hard problems to work out with? Or any other trait, like say if you have a jumping content, can you pull out a personality that is good at jumping? Thanks!

    our alter Rin is triggered to switch by a "shruggie" emoji. it's very strange and seems kind of random, but it pisses him off. he insists that "nobody shrugs like that" XD

      One of our alters gets triggered to the front by the upside-down smile emoji- and sometimes we get back to the front to find that he's spammed that emoji to our best friend- it's actually how our friend can tell when he's fronting XD

    For me when i want to directly talk to an alter i got to our headspace (a cottage) and i either tell their name or think about them (like calling them on a phone using bluetooth anilities) and then ask them whatever i needed them for

    Interesting fact: Fenrir is (i believe, I'm a bit rusty on the topic) is the name of one of the sons of Loki the Norse god of mischief.
    Which probably means that Fenrir is from Northern Europe. Again i could be very wrong and sorry if i somehow offend someone

    Oh wow....I’ve just assumed an alter was purposely making me nauseous and sick when we switched....I’m glad I know it’s not his fault and we both might even be feeling it ..it’s the anxiety between switching ..

    we unabashedly have a tiktok and we often use it to vent because we like to make them creative with lighting, sfx, makeup, and transitions. we all have our own tags (for example, our alter named velairi's tag is #velposts) and those can be used as switch triggers for us! mostly bc relatable music.
    (our tiktok is bpdcerberus, btw. wink wink nudge nudge)
