    I would think integration that would be forced would be bad but if an alter is truely ready to integrate, it is more like a healing process because the mind would be more ready to integrate.

    My daughter and I had this conversation a long time ago. Naturally I thought that integration was the best idea. As her Mother when I realized that she had DID I immediately thought she should see someone and get it "fixed." It took me awhile to understand that there was nothing broken. My attitude came between us for a long time I am sad to say. Until we really had a deep conversation and she was finally able to explain to be that for her, integration would be like killing people to her and she just could not do that. That's when I had my light bulb moment and truly understood. We have never talked about it again and as of now she does not even choose to see a therapist. She is about to be 21, and all of this may change some day, but as of now she seems okay with the way things are. So I am okay with it too. I do really wish she would see someone because she also suffers from depression and it scares me, but I can't force her to. It helps me every day to watch your channel and a few others dealing with DID. I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for being here for a Mother who was totally lost and had nowhere to turn. Your Channel and the others I have found have made all the difference in the world for me.

      Oh, I hope she does decide to see a therapist. A therapist doesn't have a set goal (like total integration) - the client designs their personal goals with their help to target the issues that cause suffering. That doesn't have to be the multiplicity! Trauma symptoms are hard and I wish you all the best.

    Right off the bat, the commenter just assumes that a multiple would aspire to be a singlet, as if the latter is just the way everyone should be. It is possible to achieve healthy multiplicity without the need to eliminate/integrate everyone in the system until only a single alter remains. Plus it seems to us that the alters are the least distressing aspect of DID, at least for us. The amnesia is worse.

    • @LadyNicoMura
      @LadyNicoMura 4 роки тому +1

      ...but isn't the amnesia the result of having alters?

    Integration is a 3 step process that starts with communication between all of your alters.
    One little integrated into me (host) and everyone is still grieving.
    Btw - When an alter integrates into another alter it's called 'fusion' instead of 'integration'.
    Also I'm totally going to use primordial ooze as a substitute for original now, that was great

    more than integration for our system what we aleardy kinda doing and would want as a goal instead of integrating and changing what we are is having host and then edveryone else be dormant or front less often, for the 'ease of one perosn making decsions' since if we try to combine all our personalityies it jsut doesnt work bc we are all so different with our views and what we want. im not forcing anyone to go dormant but most of them prefer to chill in the headspace and not communicate or take part in the outside world

    I think people focus on the alters part of DID the most rather than the dissociation or trauma or various of other symptoms. The alters aren’t the problem at all and that’s why most therapists have stopped advocating for full integration. I think that’s the main issue with this whole discussion

  • @oscollective

    As someone who sees the world differently already (ADHD, possible ASD, and multiple invisible illnesses) I don't understand people who say multiples should integrate, like that's the only path to healing. A lot of times it's easier to work with how your brain functions instead of trying to fight it. I know I can't fight the way my brain operates. The best I can do is manage it. D.I.D brains are wired differently due to trauma, so why is someone who functionally multiple and working with their brain such a bad thing to some people?
    P.S. I'm not multiple myself. Just saying I totally understand systems being unwilling/unable to integrate. I'm not sure I would "fix" my own brain if I could.

    I thought integration meant for the altars to be working together harmoniously and that fusion was what you are referring to when two altars or more become one.

    so we dont exactly have interest in integration, but god hearing your views on it and how its changed makes me rlly happy!!! even if its still not the main goal for ur system, but arent opposed to it for alters that would like it, its very nice to see. i hope you guys are doing alright!! - lee

    When I have extra money, I totally want to get dragon scale gloves and scarves cause they look so amazing and I want to support your system. I completely understand your opinion on this and agree with you. Whenever I bring up DID, even with pretty open and understanding people, they still tend to think integration is the route systems are supposed to take. I think some people default to that opinion just based off what they used to think when people still called it Multiple Personality Disorder. Some people grasp the things you mentioned rather quickly though. Especially being such a large system I can only imagine how hard it would be to get everyone to agree to it. Literally impossible. Anyway, sending your system, Acrylic, and your sister lots of love from Indiana. I hope you all can manage through summer at your dad's.

    i dont understand how some jump to the assumption thatsomeone would want to be singular when being multiple is how trauma was survived, trauma cant be undone so why should twhat helped through it be disposable? if we're going down the wishing well might as well take it the whole way to wanting bad stuff to not have happened at all

    Something I'm now wondering: when two alters integrate, is the resulting alter between the two or does one if them mostly disappear or does it create an entirely new person or does anything else happen?

    Hi! This is kind of random, but it's been on our mind a lot. We are a system in high school and our host found out about his DID about a year ago. He is very worried about the number of alters we have since it seems to be growing all the time. Is there any way we could let him know that having a large amount of alters is relatively normal? Thanks!

    • @fictionalreality3238
      @fictionalreality3238 5 років тому +5

      The Ashes System well we have almost fifty now, I’m guessing you’re in a stressful environment if it keeps growing. We split off every single time something makes us too stressed or upset. This can sometimes result in maybe five to ten new people a month. There is no “normal” amount of alters. Some people only have two in a system, some people have well over a hundred, possibly even more. Just try to reassure him and look at other people who have DID with complex systems. Seeing other people with large numbers has made us feel more valid. -Juniper and Malvrick

    • @lorainisrael

      They don't sound all the same to me. But most likely they just got used to the body voice and not trying to correct it. The attempts to correct the pitch happen more when the gender is different to the body, or the age, or if the person has an accent.

      theMoonlit -Wolf the main issue is that people focus on the alter part of DID when that’s the least important part
