    instead of using the displacement map as a node, use it in a displacement modifier, in that way you will have a mesh. This mesh can be used in eevee too

    To see displacement in the viewport you can also use a displace modifier and add in the image there instead of having to stay on rendered view to see the displacement happen procedurally.

    Soooo I have a hopefully easy question. If you planned on using a scene like this in an animation, at what scale would you want to model these things? I've always wanted to try to keep most of my work at 1:1 but that because a big problem at times when you go from a 1k x 1k block of terrain down to, say, a lab there that's maybe 10-20m across? I am generating my terrain procedurally using the base material's displacement (can't use a modifier as the noise is too tiny) and working with the experimental settings so I can use the adaptive subdiv to help keep my sanity.

    • @PopNerdStudio
      @PopNerdStudio  4 роки тому

      Hey, I’m not too knowledgeable about this but from what I’ve heard, it’s usually a good idea to scale an object to the real world size of that object if possible. Personally, I haven’t noticed much of a difference, though

    I did this tutorial. It took me two computers, b/c I was putting the wrong files in the
    Image Texture nodes, and therefor, it wasn't until I re-tried the tutorial on my lap top, was I able
    to pin point my error. Regardless, I tried to do a 100 frame animation, as though one
    were flying a drone over the surface, and that took about five minutes per frame.
    Can you give me any advice on how you would apply "moving camera's"? I know
    that's the sort of thing an VFX chip would render in a few seconds, but it would still
    be interesting to know how you would do it before shelling out several $1000
    to buy one. Thanks again, great tutorial!

    • @PopNerdStudio

      I’m actually not sure how to use PBR textures with this - I’d assume the issue stems from the displacement properties of the PBRs on top of the displacement maps. I’ll ask around and let you know if I find a solution, though.
