      Excellent tut! It would be cool if the ships were flying, and the camera was following them, as well as circling around them. Maybe the whole animation would be 6 seconds long. How long do you think that would take to render?

    A lot of people think 3D is more difficult and complex than it actually is and never end up trying it. I'm always a fan of something like this that helps show people that it can be easier than they realize. Plus, it can help you cheat a bit on things like perspective and lighting which can speed up the workflow.

    • @AtrusDesign
      @AtrusDesign 3 роки тому +16

      Those people are right. Here he doesn’t really make a 3d scene, he just set a composition using quite basic functions. Create a 3d landscape is much more complex. Btw the intention here is to show how a basic 3d setup can help creating gorgeous landscapes, and this really work!!

    • @obsidianmoon13
      @obsidianmoon13 3 роки тому +24

      @@AtrusDesign Those people are not right. 3D is not difficult or complex. It just takes a bit of work and practice like every other creative process. When people think of 3D, they usually go straight to thinking of only sculpting, which is more difficult. But hard-surface modeling is actually quite easy once you start to learn the actual program.
      Making something look photo-realistic in 3D can be as easy as slapping a texture on a flat surface and adding bump mapping. It just comes down to what your goal is.
      BTW I'm a 3D modeler who started watching this channel to improve on my digital art skills. So I am coming at this from the other direction.

    • @WalidFeghali
      @WalidFeghali  3 роки тому +18

      Of course I make a 3D scene :) And anyone reading this, I'll teach you in the course exactly how it all works with how you can model things from scratch, how to do hard surface modeling, sculpting, how texture maps work, node setups and math mindsets, all kinds of useful knowledge in 3D so you can confidently create your own 3D scenes and make Concept Art and even animations from them, creating assets, rendering software, get a solid understanding of the basics of 3D and Blender, and go on to more complex 3D scenes and explore more on your own. Hope to see ya there! Best, W.

      3d modelling is frustrating, and it's not easy unless you're making simple shapes js..as someone using blender since over 1 year. At some point it would be easy for you to model just about any shapes.and yet will never get passed the frustration ,try creating an entire landscape on a low tier PC .

    I think 3d is much more complex than most other forms of art, but not that much more difficult. Yes there are an insane number of stuff to know in 3d (modelling, lighting, rendering, uv editing, compositing, retopology, materials and much, much more), but in drawing for example this just translates to more theorical knowledge about lighting, perspective, anatomy etc. As a Blender user who tries to learn drawing, I find it so much more difficult to draw than doing 3d

      Don't get so hung up on certain details, just start doing things that you enjoy and over time your skill sets will expand. Art is subjective, there's no right or wrong, as long as you are happy with what you're doing and you enjoy it. I started 3d art way back around 1999/2000.

    Great tutorial! I'm curious about one thing, what's heavier on the final render? Displacement or Geometry? I tried to find the answer online, but wasn't able to find a comparison. Is Displacement used because it's easier to set up and less intrusive, or because it recuses render times over Geometry? Perhaps it evens out?!?!?! :)

    • @WalidFeghali
      @WalidFeghali  2 роки тому +1

      Geometry is a CPU intensive calculation, and you slow down pretty much everything while working with high numbers of polygons. I like to work with low numbers. You could also do multires subdivision and set it to be higher on render but honestly I love Displacement :) I think do some tests and see how you like to work the most. It's nice to see the actual geometry sometimes as well. W.

I would get a pack of brushes somewhere online that works great for character and creature sculpting, such as skin, bones, organic textures, scales, etc. A tablet is definitely a good idea to get as well, you can try Huion, they're cheaper and work just fine.
