So awesome! The pallet is a mega building block for all Trials riders, too - it's the key to our progression. We just stack them up (and strap them together) to jump higher and higher!

Thanks legend! That's awesome to hear! It's so fun being creative outside building trails. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm always happy to help.
Why I should win a t-shirt? I think I should win because I’ve got inspired from your gnarly and sick builds/trails and actually got on the tools and made my own massive jumps at my farm. So thank you cutlaps for giving me new ideas each video, thank you!
Wow that is awesome to hear! Sounds like you have a fun bike park of your own to ride. Thanks for commenting and you have ben entered into the next t shirt giveaway.
Nice build! It's a good idea to prime the wood first and the top layer will be much nicer if you mix it with a bit of sand to prevent it being slippery, as it can easily get after being painted with high gloss paint like it looks like you used. But loving the idea.
Dude, sweet project! My mom and I used to turn old pallets into patio furniture for ourselves and this was some sweet nostalgia. I love how official this looks and your attention to detail. Keep up the good work!
Haha yeah I imagined it looking a bit different in my head lol. At least it stands out for the thumbnail. Stoked you enjoyed the video and brought back some memories of building furniture.
Recently came across your channel and it's definitely one of my new favorites. Your trails and all the unique features you've made yourself are so sick and I'm definitely going to attempt to do some fun stuff in my backyard 🤘
I absolutely love your videos. I have began my small MTB bark in my back woods solely from seeing you videos and thinking how cool it would be to build stuff like yourself. Absolutely stoked for the next video. Keep on with your great work!
Love it!! My son and I have been building jumps and skinnies out of pallets for a while now, but this video showed me that I need to step up my game! Thank you for the details!!
Sounds like a lot of fun for you guys. I was kinda suprised how well the kicker came together. It's solid and hard to tell it was even a couple of pallets to begin with.
WOW !!, just wow. Very awesome video. I just subscribed and liked. The second you put the pic up of the second ramp side, I saw what you did because I still do that from time to time, but used to do it all the time. It was so awesome that you put that goof up for us to learn from and your fix for it.
mate, what ya doing is sick. being able to watch your videos probably made my day. in lockdown we built bike trails in our backyard, we haven't made any wooden kickers yet but this make it seem simple to do so. you should make a vid on how ho make a skinny out of pallets.
Incredible what a clever mind can come up with from junk wood, I've been watching your videos since you were a lot smaller channel, I'd gotten into mountain biking and had just recently broken my clavicle doing a jump... determined to make jumps and trails like you, keep up the awesome videos, they are great entertainment while recovering!!
It was a fun challenge for sure. Hard to tell that it used to be a pallet now. Stoked you have been watching my videos for so long. Hope that broken clavicle is all healed up and you are back jumping.
insane!!!me and my friend wanted to build a mini trail so much we got to make a path but didnt know how to make a kicker.this helped alot thank you so much
Glad to help. Just remember that pallet wood doesn't last long out in the weather. You need to make sure you keep checking it and making sure its strong enough to ride.
your my favorite streamer and i admire how you teach us thing that has inspired myself to build my own backyard jumps thank you so much. you are the best streamer my opinion.
Unreal!!! Just watched the clip with my son. He's off to the hardware shop tomorrow to see if he can grab a pallet or two. If he gets the goods, looks like a fun lilttle father/son project coming up! Cheers Luke!!
Yeah, I was a bit nervous about building with pallets, but I think I came up with a pretty strong design. I just need to treat it well and it should last a while.
Love this idea. Wood is so expensive at the store and I see pallet wood all the time but like you said, be careful with the quality. I was planning on building a small practice jump with dirt but I like the fact that you can move the jump to different areas and even get it totally out the way if needed. Thanks for the plans too!!
Thanks für this great Tutorial its just so easy to gather that much wood for free, I build something by my own with the same idea and it worked out perfect!
And you explaining it was so good I could understand you easy and the colour is good as well but I don’t paint my and my one is like the sack same there so good I can do massive whips with it when I hit it I go fly I put the jump on the footpath then go down the hill and then I go flying I go up to the moon that’s how well it is
hey man, just finish the video, and after seeing how you made it just from just some pallets, its made me to want build one of my own in my backyard. Cheers!
u really helped me with the pallets because i wanted to build a kicker just like yours and build my mom a table and a bench fot her front yard but i didnt knew where to get pallets from
Can’t wait to build my own! I can get pallets at work like there’s no tomorrow. I’ll be building all sizes, shapes and maybe even a table top for beginners. I appreciate you doing this!
Great build! Pallets are perfect for bridges in my backyard R/C track. If time allows, painting the wood on all six sides, before assembly, will help it last even longer outdoors. Paint it grey, with yellow chevrons, make it look like the launch ramp of an aircraft carrier 👍
Love re-using old pallets! I've made some outdoor furniture, house decor, and even an outdoor bar out of old pallets. Can definitely be frustrating trying to get them apart or the old nails out. May have to build me an mtb jump too!
@@cutlaps it's held up pretty well so far! I used an outdoor gel stain for a patio/deck on all the boards, then even tried using some epoxy for the bar top. That was my first time ever attempting that so it's not the best and has some bubbles in it. Definitely recommend though if you're looking for a cheap bar idea!

Look for heat treated pallets they will last a lot longer without having to treat them. My Wild Woody feature in my backyard trail is going on almost 3 years now with no issues. Fun build Luke.
Yeah the place I got my pallets from didn't have any with the HT stamp, actually they didn't have any stamps at all. Thats pretty impressive that it's still going after 3 years. Have you got any new trail builds on the way?
Mate during covid I built something like thing just it was a quarter pipe for a skateboard! I used bunnings wood so not entirely free but for the metal coping I used a pole that I found in a dump that was used for a street sign. Great content and not too long since the last vid ! I hope this turns into a full blown jump park in that open space of yours! Keep on making quality content! =)
great video I'm going to show it to my dad and I hope we will make it. I am so happy because I will finally have backyard jump and can't wait for next video I hope you will build something new
Yes Luke!! This video is perfect. Ive actually been working on a wooden "manny pad"/grind box for my unicycle the last few weeks and seeing this has sparked all kinds of new ideas and techniques! I love all of your content mate, please keep it coming!
Thanks mate, yeah pallets can be a bit of a pain in the butt. That second one was a bt frustrating but I had enough wood in the end. Have fun with your build
I built a very similar kicker on my channel a couple years ago. It cost around $140 in timber & screws from Bunnings (pre covid), so that's a pretty good saving. I used 10mm decking for surface which I think was a mistake, in particular for the lander which I've broken already. I got super nerdy and made a spreadsheet to create the perfect radius too if you were ever interested. Great video as always, it's slightly better than my effort.

There are wayyy too many things I love about this video! Firstly, the sweet, smooth blues backtrack. Had to pause and put on my best Ron Swanson look to get real comfy. Secondly, the home improvement-esque feel to this whole thing. Surely some Wilson Wilson Jnr x Cutlaps merch on the way! Thirdly, the terrible choice in paint colour. Sick vid mate! I think you should send it over some weird stuff just for a giggle edit. For example, a couch with someone snoozing on it. Happy for peeps to jump on board and reply to this for further suggestions.
Seems like some people love the colours and others hate them. They have grown on me a little but I think I would prefer something instead of the orange.
This video was awesome! Makes me want to try to make one. I've never built a jump period, so I may do it out of better wood, but this doesn't even look too difficult. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yeah better wood is a good choice. You can build a better shape kicker then and not be constrained by the size of the pallet wood. But this was a fun challenge.
Hey Luke. This is a great video and I want to build this on my own. I live in Italy and we have a lot of professional bike trails but to ride them you have to pay a lot of money and so i started to build my own trail just like you. Your super authentic videos are so helpful when building my own trail and they give lots of information. I am really looking forward to your next video and hope you have a great week. Hopefully see you soon, Raphael😊
Riding in Italy would be amazing, bumer that you have to pay for lots of the trails. Really cool you are building your own trail. Hope you have a good weekend with lots of riding!
Bloody cool mate!!! Might have to throw something like this together as well, maybe some small wheels on one end so i can tow it down to the park for a play
Yeah for sure, I was thinking about adding wheels to this one, but ended not worrying becuase I dont need to move it much. But I think my next build is a much bigger kicker and that will be on wheels.
YES! I’ve been wanting to make one of these! We have tons of pallets on our ranch and I re-use them all time and I learned a lot, thanks for boiling all your learnings into a condensed how to Luke! I just bought a pallet buster from your link 😎
Nice, I learnt a lot more in my pallet research but couldn't include it all for fears of boring people haha. The pallet buster is handy. The handle seems a bit flimsy but it worked. Easy to replace the handle if needed. Send pics of what you build.
@@cutlaps will do. My pallet buster arrived I see what you mean by flimsy, maybe I’ll replace the quick release, but it’s not too bad, a little short for us tall guys. I’m slowly building a shed for the time being.

@@TheBackyardMTB Hey mate, it depends what country you are in. I ship shirts all over the world but the price changes depending on the conversion rates. I have free shipping to Australia and the USA at the moment. Check out my website cutlaps.com to see the shirts and prices. And don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Cheers
Ahahaha thanks mr Swanson. You can be the person snoozing on the couch, but I think I will need a bigger kicker.
Great job mate loved this video also loved watching you create mountainbike trail in your back yard keep it up
Thanks dude. Yeah I need to get back to work on the big trail. Its been a while.
What a little ripper! Also the colours are dope
Seems like some people love the colours and others hate them. They have grown on me a little but I think I would prefer something instead of the orange.
i can not believe you only have 39k subs i watched 4 of your vids i think you deserve 1M
Thank you! Lots of work goes into each video so it's cool to see you enjoying them.
Wicked bro! Watching your videos every night has inspired my 7 year old son to build a kicker ramp, how timely this is 🤩
Haha perfect! Well hopefully the plans make sense. It can be a bit tricky marking and cutting the support bits.
Don’t know if the catch phrase will catch on “Puzzle Time 🤙🏼” in MTB circles, but for puzzle night it a winner. Top vid again Luke.
Hahah Puzzle Time was from a New Zealand drink driving commercial that was pretty funny back in the day.
This video was amazing building it on the weekend
Very cool. Hope you had fun building it
That's so cool! I've been planning on building a kicker to ride with my kids and this was super helpful for that, Thanks!
Awesome, I hope you and your kids have fun hitting it!
Amazing video Luke! Keep it up, looking forward to more videos!
Thank you!
Hopefully see you soon,
Raphael😊
Riding in Italy would be amazing, bumer that you have to pay for lots of the trails. Really cool you are building your own trail. Hope you have a good weekend with lots of riding!
Bloody cool mate!!! Might have to throw something like this together as well, maybe some small wheels on one end so i can tow it down to the park for a play
Yeah for sure, I was thinking about adding wheels to this one, but ended not worrying becuase I dont need to move it much. But I think my next build is a much bigger kicker and that will be on wheels.
very impressive. I want to build one of these for my backyard trail.
Do it!
Your videos are so intuitive and entertaining 🙌🏽
Stoked you like them.
i think it looks awesome and honestly might have to try this for myself and i will definitely keep watching and recommend your videos!
Awesome thank you!
That’s sick I made the same one for my nephew cheers for the idea
Awesome. Hope it turned out great.
Yes! Another Cutlaps video, I always look forward to your vids! :)
Thanks Felix, hope you like it!
Gday mate, just wanna say I love what you’re doing and you really inspire me and other people. Cheers legend 👊🏽 ❤
Dude thank you so much! That is really cool to read.
