This is the BEST tutorial for double knitting that I have seen. You make it look SUPER easy. If you could do a tutorial on double knitting from a pattern I would be set. Thank you for the video!
I just want to thank you for your videos and knowledge of knitting. When the pandemic started I was feeling so sad and depressed. Like deathly depressed. I picked up knitting and it HELPED! I couldn’t have begun knitting if it weren’t for your educational videos! Thank you
I love double sided knitting the most because you can have the beautiful stockinette stitch without the curling! For the longest time I avoided doing anything with stockinette because I despised the curling, but now I don't have to worry about it. Great vid, thanks!
I've been knitting my first reversible scarf, and everytime I show someone I show one side and say "pretty cool huh? Well guess what ... guess what ... BAM!!" and I show them the other side and honestly that's been just as much fun as actually knitting the scarf :)
This is by far the very best double knitting tutorial I've seen and for one simple reason - you actually explain how to work both sides. So many explain how to work the first row, and fail to mention how to work the 'back' side - I spent ages wondering why mine wasn't turning out only to realise I was working the 'back' row incorrectly! Thank you for this
I have been knitting for 16 years and just became interested in double knitting. I have watched quite a few UA-cam videos on basic double knitting, and I find this one to be the best as far as the visuals and the explanations. My usual go-to channel for all knitting information fell far short of presenting a clear tutorial on double knitting, because the one presented was too hurry-hurry and poorly focused. Even the most basic double knitting project can be beautiful, for example a simple scarf in two solid colors with the braided look of the borders. With double knit scarves, you don't have to worry about the stockinette curling, both sides are attractive, and there are no pesky ends to weave in. Making a simple double knit scarf is an excellent way to get comfortable with the process before tackling patterns with designs on them. For the edge stitches in double knit, I slip the first two stitches together knitwise on every row, and purl the last two stitches together on every row. Makes an even and attractive border.
Oh My God!! I'm love with you! I've look everywhere for a tutorial for double knitting that makes sense and I've finally found it! And something else that I love is that you added those extra little details at the end of the video. Your my #1 to go to for knitting!
I'm making a Ukrainian color schemed scarf and I had to brush up on double knitting basics seeing I haven't done it in a year. Your awesome as always with ur instructional videos ✊ respect
I am so glad I found this video. So many vids were either too fast, demonstrated it in continental, which I find confusing in the best of times, or not well explained. Your camera angle and paced showed me exactly what I needed to do. Thank you!
I thank-you for showing me how to do that kind of double knitting. I've tried many times before but with you I've found it to be very simple, and I thank-you for that.
Oh my god..dude I’ve watched dozens of videos on UA-cam trying to figure out how to change colors like you do from Grey to orange to make that kind of square but for swatch patterns and I could not wrap my mind around it and got so frustrated. But watching this I suddenly had an amazing lightbulb moment and it’s working !!!!! I’m so thankful to you like omg you helped me so much I think k get it now! 🎉❤😊
RJ Knits, thank you for your video. Great to see another guy who finds joy in knitting (especially a younger guy lol). Thank you again for your video. I am looking forward to starting a project (double knit technique).
I do so much I some times forget how to start DK and this video sure helps quickly to refresh the memory! Thanks so much, simple and direct instructions!
I've found several of your videos so very helpful. You're a great teacher. This has really helped me up my knitting projects and given things a much more polished look
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I made pot holders for my son by making two different mitered squares and I wish I had seen this sooner. He asked for some for Christmas lol. I will make another pair doing this method and give him a couple more. You can never have too many pot holders :)
Now I know I can double knit and have a vet good and thick potholder. I was afraid of starting something no one may never use. And great job with the detail. Now I would like to see how to cast off this double knit.
Hey, I think this was the first video I watched when I originally looked at double knitting! Good explanation and tutorial, and I like seeing other guys who knit and stuff. 😊
I went through so many at least four different videos on how to do double knit I wasn't getting it and then I came across your video and it is so easy I don't know why the other videos had to make it look so complicated when yours makes it look super super simple I've already got at least four inches of a scarf done thanks to your video thank you
i'd been looking for a turtorial on this type of knitting for months, and now i know the name for it too!(like, "reversible knitting" was not helping me at all on finding this) now to just adjust to my knitting style where i never flip needles because i found that makes me happier
Thank you for clear instructions. I was getting stuck with not having two layers together...and yarn being at opposite ends, requiring flipping or using dpn!
I've been desperate to learn double knitting since seeing the Corvus scarf on Ravelry, I watched a lot of double knitting videos but this is the first one that I have been able to follow and know what I was meant to be doing! (4.5 inches into 6ft scarf) THANKYOU!
Great tutorial. I love the way double knitting stands out it looks great and beautiful. Though it's double work and more steps to it but I definitely love it.
Thank you so much for this video (and for all your videos, let's be honest). I've learned so many things from you and you're definitely the best at teaching. I spent ages looking for a tutorial that I could make sense of, and trying and trying to make progress, and I should just have come straight here (of course). Absolutely the best video to learn this technique, thanks so much ♥
RJ, your tutorial makes total sense, well recorded and great for beginners! Could you please do a tutorial on the best threading in method? My project has loose strands after threading them into the scarf or hat! 🤦🏻♀️
Thank you for your simple explanation of double knitting! I watched a few other videos on this before finding yours but I didn't get it til I watched your video. :) Really hoping I can follow a (picture) chart now so I can make the scarf I want. :)
Thank you for the well-instructed tutorial! I'm excited to try out double knitting! Love the soft background music and close ups - very pleasant and easy to follow!
You do awesome job. I love it very much. The knitting of the reversible scarf is the best tecnique. I love to knit, crochet, etc. I started at age 10 yrs old. Thanks
Love the pattern, excellent instructions, However, the material that you showed at the beginning of the tutorial, I believe, is a two color brioche, showing both colors on each side, in columns.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying to figure out double knitting for weeks, you've explained it so easy for my to understand thank you ❤
So glad I found your site. I've read about double knitting but just didn't understand it and this makes it a lot more understandable. Plus, knitting a box - HOW FUN IS THAT! : )
You have a super teaching gift thank you so very much! Do you have a video on double knitting cast off and is it posdible to "speed knit it" ? Your speed knitting video changed my life love it!!
Ryan you are the best teacher. I'm half way through a double knitting project for a scarf and am bringing forward little hearts for Valentine's day. thanks a million! but for casting off, should I cast off knit wise or purl wise
Thank you very much for your wonderful videos because I was forgotten about that when I see your videos now I try to to make again. Thank you for your wonderful videos.
I knitted a double sided scarf by holding the knit yarn in my right hand throwing style and the purl yarn in my left hand continental style. Then I didn't bring both yarns forward, just the one I was using. It made a very cool looking pattern and both sides of the entire scarf were connected. It's very soft and warm. I wish I could show you but there's no way to post a pic here that I know of.
I'm really grateful that you made this video! I am trying double knitting for the first time, and your video is so helpful. (The music gets a little old. I watched parts of the video a few times, so I heard the song a lot.)
I accidentally did this to the cuff of some mittens that were supposed to be vertically stripped! I'd done a hat like this before, and I guess I was in a double knit groove! The cuffs look great like this so no harm!
So glad I found this video. I have a sleeveless cardigan that I think is knitted with a similar technique, though it has four colors instead of two. Now that I look more closely at the pattern it's built in rows that kinda remind me of native american patterns, very geometrical. Only two colors are used per "section", so guessing theres a color switch for the next part, and so on. Always been curious how it was made. I'm a beginner knitter and only just finished my first scarf in entrelac. Your videos are very helpful! :D
Thank you for this video.. easy to understand.. i don`t know how to make the pattern, do u have a plan to show making the whole scarf, until repeating process.. Pleas do so.. Love all your video!
I absolutely love this video!! I've been searching for a reversal knitting pattern for scarfs. I have only one question, I am a beginner for sure and instead of making little diamonds I wanted to do stripes. After doing a section of knit black, purl yellow, would I do the same on the reverse side knit black, purl yellow to start my stripe? Thanks so much in advance.
When casting on, you should cast on separately with double the stitches, that way it will be easier to keep a nice pattern...this is the way I do it and its super easy and fast
Probably one of the clearest and well instructed tutorial. I do though have one question, is there any way to avoid the two colors showing up the sides and on the bottom for the cast on? Thank you
Your videos are very well done, but the background music is a little bit annoying after a while. Projects are well presented and easy to understand. Keep up the good work. I will certainly try double knitting. Looking forward to see your other videos.
This is the BEST tutorial for double knitting that I have seen. You make it look SUPER easy. If you could do a tutorial on double knitting from a pattern I would be set. Thank you for the video!
I didn't think that I would find anybody to show me how to DOUBLE KNIT, you rock dude, thank you so much.
Yeah I was gonna Google the term to even know what it was!
I just want to thank you for your videos and knowledge of knitting. When the pandemic started I was feeling so sad and depressed. Like deathly depressed. I picked up knitting and it HELPED! I couldn’t have begun knitting if it weren’t for your educational videos! Thank you

Thank goodness I stumbled upon this video I have been losing my mind trying to do a design in my double knit scarf. You just saved my mind thank you!
This was a really helpful tutorial; very comprehensive and didn’t go too fast or too slow! Thank you so much for making this video.

Best instructions on UA-cam so far!!
dude, awesome tutorial. super helpful and clear! thanks!
Thanks for condensing what others don't. Have to watch so many videos to hopefully find that one answer. Ur awesome.
We tried several sites on double knitting before we found this site which is much clearer and most helpful. Thanks!!!!!
i'd been looking for a turtorial on this type of knitting for months, and now i know the name for it too!(like, "reversible knitting" was not helping me at all on finding this)

Your videos are very well done, but the background music is a little bit annoying after a while. Projects are well presented and easy to understand. Keep up the good work. I will certainly try double knitting. Looking forward to see your other videos.
Guy Charbonneau. The background music is definitely annoying and distracting but he still explained everything really well.
Thanks! This was super clear and easy to understand.
Beyond helpful! Thanks so much for posting this!
