Double Knitting: Knitting flat with a clean selvage edge

Double Knitting is a way to knit two back to back pieces of fabric at the same time with two different colors. It's a fun way to add extra warmth to your knitted piece and provide a unique two color pattern. In this video I will show you how to do double knitting with straight needles including how to cast on, how to do the double knitting stitch, how to produce the clean straight selvage edge for two color double knitting as well as how to bind off.

I made a hairband with 100% silk which was maybe not the best choice for my first double-knitted project but I got the hang of it very quickly.

Yes you can do a ribbing in double knit. In fact that is a video I’m currently working on and is scheduled to be active mid May. So stay tuned. 😊
