    This is the best demo of the pin stitch I have seen. I like the idea of using the pin stitch as the 1st leg of the cross! Thank you.

    I just recently started doing the pin stitch start and end as well! I saw this on Nicola Parkman’s floss tube and it’s a complete game changer. I love searching to see how other stitchers do theirs. Thanks for your video.

    What a great tutorial! I'm using the pin stitch while working 2x2 on 28 ct....cause I'm old and like to see what I'm stitching! You're so right...we are never too old to learn something new. I'm loving not having to flip my scroll frame all the time. This is a game changer for me. Thanks much!

    Thank you so much for a wonderful tutorial.
    At 76 I am just starting cross stitch and love it.
    I watch videos everyday to answer questions about tips/ techniques.
    This is wonderful because other starts and stops with a single thread just makes a messy back.
    Since I like the fine detail of a single thread this is now my way to start and stop!

    My Great Aunt Teeny would approve! She taught me neat backs count. I’m 76 and she taught me the fundamentals of embroidery starting at about 7 or 8 years of age. I have only been stitching on linen a few years and I have some pieces she did 70 or 80 years ago that are lovely.

    Wow! I really appreciate you teaching this old dog a new trick! The pin stitch will definitely make my backs look better and much less flipping my frame over and over. I do use the loop method to start as I can do that from the front as well. Thanks again for an excellent tutorial.

    I learned the pin stitch a few months ago, watched this as a refresher. A bit different than the one I first watch, but basically the same. I'm 61, and yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks. Never heard of the pin stitch or the loop method until recently and I love them both.

    Great to see a tutorial by a left-handed stitcher! I've been stitching over 40 years and this is something new to me. I'll definitely give it a go on those solitary starry stitches in the sky. By the way, i'm a floss-licker and bees waxer too! I currently put a good ole knot in the end of my thread and then end it by turning my stitching over (stitch in hand mostly) and running the thread under some existing stitches. I find this easy to find the end when I have to frog. I nearly always 'unstitch' when frogging, using a blunt needle to do so. It has got to be a very serious frog if I have to resort to the seam-ripper! I use scissors that you buy for cutting infants nails with - they are very small and have rounded ends. Thank you Lori for a super tutorial.

    • @mischievousstitches
      @mischievousstitches  6 років тому +1

      Sounds like we have several things in common. I too use a seam ripper only for serious frogging. I stitch in had too when I am working on 36ct and above. 40ct is too dense to stitch in hand, in my opinion. Have a great week! ❤

    Thank you so much!! I have started using this pin stitch to end my threads now and occasionally using it to start. Most times I use the loop start because I primarily use 2 threads on either 32ct or 28ct. But when I have a length of thread left, I have used your pin stitch to start! And you’re right, I seem to be a bit faster! This is great!

    Yes! I love the pin stitch! The video I saw also mentioned to try to pierce the floss as you start. So the first two times you go down the center hole, try to pierce that tiny tail piece you are going to cut off. This helps anchor it a bit and keeps it from pulling out as you gently tug. This is an excellent tutorial, and your stitching is beautiful!

    • @mischievousstitches

    I have been using the diagonal pin stitch to start my threads but I never thought to do it from the front lol! And I read how to end the thread, but I just couldn’t wrap my mind around how to do it. Seeing your demo was SO SUPER HELPFUL!!!! Thanks for taking the time to show and explain - it was very well done and I am switching away from trailing threads for the rest of my current project - hopefully I will perfect it by the end! Love you 😘 xoxo, Jen

    Thank you for this tutorial! I have been using it to start my threads but hadn’t started using the ending technique. I will give that ending technique a try at least some of the time. I like how it doesn’t waste so much thread foe away knots.

    Thank you! Very clear and so useful.Although I mainly stitch on aida, I have started to use the pin stitch to begin, but horizontally.Your idea looks much nicer so I am going to convert and I definitely have to have a go at ending with a pin stitch. You make it look so easy :)

    • @NavyWife

      I agree with you. I prefer the loop for starting, but I need to learn the ending pin stich especially for patterns that have confetti scattered around. The pin stitch will look much neater.

    I can really see how it works great for a single stitch. I will have to try it and decide. I can see the pin stitch I'm not sure how I feel about it but I will try it and see Thanks for showing it. I always like to see how people do things. I do think it's great for a single stitch especially out somewhere by itself.

    • @mischievousstitches
      @mischievousstitches  6 років тому +1

      I agree that you can see it. I struggled with that for weeks, but not so now. When you look at the piece from a distance, it's not noticeable at all. I don't know that Although, I would not end my threads this way if I planned to submit the piece to be judged.
      Have a great week! ❤
