Just want to say I appreciate the camera work, lighting, conciseness, and clear diction in your video. So many crafting channels have less than ideal equipment so it makes seeing those necessary details difficult.
I absolutely second this! As a beginner, I watched 4 videos on how to end my thread, and this close up shot and the lighting was what I needed to successfully end my thread! Thank you!
This was sooo incredibly helpful!!! I warned a really nice close up of a how to make a pin stitch. Your lighting and closeup of the stitch was sooooooo helpful! I am stitching on Aida with one thread and there have been so many confetti stitches I am dragging my thread all over the place to secure it. I’ve been hating this project…truthfully. Now I am hoping to start enjoying it with my newfound knowledge. Thank you!
I have been cross stitching for over 50 years and I have never seen such great ideas for ending a thread, especially ways that don't require you to turn your hoop over. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for watching Linda - and for your kind words. I am so happy you found it useful - I found it life-changing, not having to turn my hoop around! ☺️ Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
Your voice while I'm stitching is so calming. I haven't stitched for years and I'm still trying to find my flow. Once I'm in my flow I lose time and my fingers just do their work
I am a relatively new stitcher . My history is I learned stitch about a year and a half ago, but I only stitched for a few months. Then I completely abandoned it. I re-started a month ago and actually finished a sizable project just last night. I have been floating in a huge ocean of Confusion to a degree, but it is gratifying to know that I have been using the waste away stitch at the end and the loop method to start my stitching without even knowing what they were called. I give credit to a Korean channel called stitch, bug back. Although she does not speak in English at all, or even have English subtitles, by watching her videos closely, I was able to adapt her styles. Thank you for such clear explanations.
Thank you so much for this information!!! I've been trying to find out how to do pin stitch finishes and loop start finishes for a really long time! You are awesome Marie, and so is CCS! So happy I found this group!
I'm so happy i have found this, I wanted a new hobbie to do that was not looking at a screen all day and I thought cross stitch would be fun and it will give me something to put on my wall after, I have only just started but i was finding the back was looking a little messy and some time my nots would be big, and catch when I try to start the next one, they look super easy for some reason I was thinking they are going to be hard lol,
Marie you are definitely delightful so knowledgeable and friendly just beautiful tutorials thank you so very for sharing your skills and enthusiasm your tutorials are so encouraging and helpful
I received a completed work and noticed the stitches very closely resembled the cross stitch on the front. I have tried and tried to replicate the stitch. I am going to learn how to stitch like this before I die or my demise will be put on hold like WIP. I will be a DIP. Thank you for your Cross Stitch knowledge. Enjoy your videos. Hey Marie! Thank you for the tutorial. When I work on Aida I will certainly apply these principals. Can you do a tutorial on ending a stitch on even weave without turning the work? Does that exist? Thanks!
Hi Marie. I am very new. Today I find your channel first time. I saw one video of yours, I just love it. So subscribed your channel. Your video are beautiful as like your smile. Thank you for such beautiful videos.. Love from India ❤️❤️❤️
I agree! I’ve been stitching 40 years as well and I have never seen the pin stitch for ending my Crosstitch. I generally have used the weaving but will definitely be giving the pin stitch a try. Thank you so much and I agree your instructions are very well explained and easy to understand!
I use the waste tail but to cut down on waste, as long as I'm coming back with the same color, I make half stitches with it. That way when I start stitching again, I'm stitching over the thread but it's also being used rather than wasted. By doing a couple of stitches to the left and then coming down a row and doing a couple of stitches to the right, that tail is nicely tucked in when I stitch over it..
@@CaterpillarCrossStitch I’ve used the methods a few times. It has made a difference in a good way. I don’t use time going front to back to front again. I do everything in the front. Thanks again!
I own a number of ascot ties. Some of the threads in their stitchings have little tails at the end. Should I cut these off or should I leave them alone?
Hi Debra, thanks so much for watching and for your kind words 😊 I am using a square plastic Nurge hoop and wooden table embroidery stand from Amazon. Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
Thanks for your last 2 videos - they've been really helpful and both taught me something new. I wonder which end technique you'd recommend for a full coverage, where there are lots of confetti stitches? I'm doing a HAED, one over one on 25 count and find it really hard to end a thread without a knot...
Hi Keeley, thank you so much for watching 😊 One of my current WIPs is also a 25ct 1x1 full cross HAED so I feel your pain! I would definitely recommend the waste away thread technique because with full coverage you will end up easily covering it around. If you can, try not to leave the confetti stitches for the very end so you'd still stitch around. If you did, then I would recommend learning the pin stitch underneath the single stitch technique but you will need a very sharp needle (DMC size 28 is pretty sharp despite being tapestry needle and a good choice for this). A thin needle also helps to weave the thread on the back of the project without needing to knot when pin stitch is not an option 😊 Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
Hi Adele, thank you so much for watching 😊 so happy you found it helpful! My hoop is from a company called Nurge, it's square and plastic, size 3 shown in the video. The stand I'm using is just a table wooden stand from Amazon, no special brand 😊 happy stitching 🌸 Marie
Hi! Thanks for these videos! I have a quick question. Is the loop and pin stitch coupled together strong enough for a cross stitch I’m turning into a pillow?
Thanks so much for watching Courtney 😊 anything involving pin stitch is great in terms of secure stitches - for a pillow I'd recommend using an iron-on interface on the back of your project for extra securing your stitches 😊 Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
These are machine washable and won't come undone?? I have tried to the weave in method under several stitches, and it comes out with a simple pull. If i'm trying to do cross stitch onto clothes that are going to brushing up against stuff, i imagine these wont do the trick, except the pin stitch method but is there no tie-method that guarantees thread security?
What do you do with the non-loop end (the open end of the thread)? I put the needle through the loop and pull tight and the thread just slides out of my needle 🤬
Thank you for your question - this mostly comes with experience to be honest but here’s my best tips 😊 Leave a long enough tail so that the thread doesn’t slip out so easily. I also noticed that when I’m pulling needle, I started holding the eye of the needle with my ring finger. Just gently pressing the thread against the needle which is enough to keep it from unthreading 😊 You can also tie the thread on the eye of the needle but I wouldn’t recommend it - it severely damages the thread and the knot coming through the fabric makes stitching more difficult! Hope this helps 😊 Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
