Virtually all full coverage is don on that and virtually all tutorials are on Aida using the loop method. So frustrating. You can't do the loop method on 1/1 on 25 ct. Thank you for relieving my pain.

Wonderful job. Clear video and nicely executed pin stitch! I watched a video Nicola Parkman did several years ago. She does her pin stitch right at the edge of her last stitch. Works very well for samplers.
Yes I've seen it done that way too. It's really great for starting and ending in places where you don't want traveled threads to show through your fabric.

I have been using 25 count fabric 1x1. I have started and finished with pin stitches. My starting pin stitch works great, but my finishing pin stitches have been coming undone. I have been doing my finishing pin stitches just like your starting pin stitch. I am definitely going to try your method of finishing pin stitches. Thanks!
I find it helps if you can leave a few spaces between the last stitch and where you do the finishing pin stitch. Then there is a little tail trailing on the back that also gets stitched over as you fill in your piece. Added security.

I would think you can still use it actually. Just modify it. Go down through center, up in 1st corner, down in center again, up through 2nd corner and then either 1) go down in center cutting the tail and making your single tent stitch over the entire thing or 2) ship going into the center again and go down in first corner completing the tent stitch. stitch.
Great video, Pam, thank you! I'm starting a full-coverage project on Aida 20 count, 2 over 1. I do a loop start so there's no problem to start but the pattern is filled with confetti and I like to cross-country wherever I can which means I can't always weave my end thread under other stitches. Could the pin stitch finish you teach here be done with 2 threads?

Hi. Thanks for watching. I often use a 28 or 26 needle. I think I'm using a 26 in the tutorial. It depends on the brand of fabric. Some fabrics cooperate more then others for this style of pin stitch. Folk Witch typically is a 26 needle but on my Death by Cross Stitch I typically use a 28 needle. Not sure when I'm going to do another wip parade but I will have a couple flosstube updates posted soon.
This might be a silly question, but is a pin stitch the same as a confetti stitch? I do not know how to do confetti stitches. Is a confetti stitch where you have only one stitch to do of one color in a certain area? Can you please make a video explaining confetti stitches. This video is EXCELLENT! You explain things very well step by step. I am now able to do a pin stitch and I didn't even know what that was until this video. Thanks Pam!
So a pin stitch is not and actual stitch really. It's just a way to start or end a thread when you don't have surrounding stitches to weave your thread under to start or end. Some people like me use it so I don't have to constantly flip to the back of my work to start and end on a full coverage design. Confetti stitches are regular cross stitches but the term is used to describe an area where you have several stitches that are all different colours, like little bits of confetti everywhere. Block stitching usually refers to an area that is of a solid block of 1 colour. Hope that helps.

Full coverage pieces can be intimidating but they're really no different then other cross stitchs. Just 1 X at a time. No back stitchibg, no fancy stitches. They just take a huge commitment because of the time they take.
To start a thread. Go down through the center of where your X should be splitting the fabric strand creating a hole. Leave a tail sticking out on top of your fabric. Come up through the fabric hole you would normally use if starting your X (for me that's the bottom left hole) Go back down through the 1st hole you created that has the tail stiching out. (Don't pull the tail through. Come up in the diagonal hole (for me it's the top right). Go back down through the center hole you created with the tail sticking out. Pin stitch that creates 1st leg of your X is now done. Cut floss tail that's sticking out flush to your fabric. Carry on going up through bottom right hole and down through top left hole to completed your full X. To end a thread. Come up through the bottom of the of the center strand of fabric splitting the fabric to create a new hole. Go down through the center of that same fabric strand creating a 2nd hole. Up through the top of that same fabric strand creating a 3rd. Down through the center hole again(the 2nd one you created). The pin stitch is now done. Come up through the 1st hole you created and cut your floss flush with your fabric.
I don't have to flip my frame over each time to start or finish my thread and because I'm not weaving in ends it keeps your full coverage piece on smaller count fabric from getting bulky with all the thread changes.

If you're stitching over 2 you can certainly do it but I'm not sure about stitching over 1.

What sized needle do you use on 25 ct? Mine seems to be too blunt for this to be feasible.

I can't tell if you are going up and down through the same hole or are you making separate holes everytime?
