In the early 2000s, car reality TV shows became popular and were a sure way for networks to keep people watching them.
One of such automotive reality TV shows was called Overhaulin, and it was certainly one of the most-watched shows of its time.
Despite having extremely high ratings and having thousands - or even millions of fans at the beginning the show was remarkably short-lived and had only about five seasons
Interestingly, the fact that the first version of Overhaulin ended after five years despite massive fan love isn't the most interesting thing about the show.
When Overhaulin came to an end for the first time, people had loads of questions.
Why did it come to an end so quickly? Was the show hiding any dark secrets? Did the show have any unhappy car owners? Was there any behind the scenes politics that handicapped the show?

You don't pay taxes on the increased value of a car you already own. Taxes on automobiles are only assessed at the time of purchase.

I don't think you'd pay more taxes ..depends on the state tho . I sell toyota in tennessee and have never heard of being taxed other than right after purchase. However ..some states charge a percentage of the cars value for plates every year and that racks up fast. Here in TN we have 7% sales tax on cars , but only pay $133 for tags and registration regardless of what you buy .two miles away in MS it is 5% sales tax..but they charge a percentage of vehicles worth each year for tags and some folks have around $1500+for tags

We all just appreciate the content this man and his crew makes its just a masterpiece imagine what's he's gonna doing the future 💛.
I had a coworker whose car got on the show. Months later and her car still wasn't finished. That '8 days' was a lie.
At least it seems the restorations done by them were legit, as opposed to the garbage that Pimp My Ride would pump out.
The worst part of this show for me was not being able to be there when the work was going on.
The show got canceled, because Chris got his lights knocked out, for vandalizing a black corvette.
When the owner of the car saw Chris, hitting the car with a guitar, the owner walked outside and hit him with a right cross to the face.
Another words...the budget was tight and they became sleep deprived BECAUSE the Shareholders of TLC wanted to keep making THEIR profit regardless...
The show was good because they left the cars super, super good. But I didn't like that they always fixed the cars of well-known or famous people. Instead of fixing cars for people who really needed it
I don’t care how many people working to upgrade a an old classic car. That’s not enough time.

Same old stuff every week. Course the writers had to come up with a new plot every episode in order to trick the owner and scare them half to death about taking their car.
Thank you for making this point. I love Foose’s creations, but the deception at the beginning of the shoe eventually caused me to grab the remote. There is usually nothing funny about practical jokes. A practical joke that goes on for eight days is unjustifiable torture. Chip’s dramatic choices weren’t fun. They were gut wrenching. He’s my favorite designer, but basing your show on a lie was just a tough premise to keep going.
This was good other than the narrator kept saying automative when the word is automotive it was driving me crazy

Even though these shows are obviously staged, it's still a great show!
Just say the real truth. Chip's wheels were too large and shiny.
The wheels were just large and god awful. He would dechrome the car too.

Why would you pay taxes on your own car that is already in your name 🤔 maybe more on insurance wen the vehicule is evaluated but not taxes, never heard that anyway...
The taxes don’t go up on a classic car because it was rebuilt it is still an older car they still only charge for the value of the year of the car I own 2 classics such Bullshit.
I lost interest because they kept doing cars for stars instead of the average Joe, who couldn't really afford to get that kind of work done.

You have no clue what you’re talking about. Viewers don’t watch it any more. Which is why the later episodes have “newer” vehicles…..which Chip HATED.
And…..so many people who love and own classic and newer vehicles know who Chip and Overhaulin’ is.
Stop making videos like this if you don’t know why it ended.
All reality shows are scripted though.

Before I watch the video, let me guess the reason. They overhauled Amber Heard's Mustang, then she accused them all of rape and of beating her up. The internet canceled everyone that worked on the show. Now I'll watch the video and see how accurate my guess was.
And she took a dump on the dash.
Never liked Chip Foose, his designs or Overhaulin". He is not likable. His designs suck and the show was hoakie.

They actually ruined many peoples cars and screw many people over
They could have bought the vehicles at a agreed upon price and still do the work and then auction the cars afterwards... Because people would end up selling the cars afterwards...Then the money 💵 from the auction could be used to flip the next car... But I lost interest in Chip F . After the fallout with Boyd Coddington. Boyd Coddington made Chip who he is today...Hint ..Boyd Coddington wheels .. 🤔 Boyd Coddington got the short end of the 🏒 stick ..
Boyd rode on Chip's talent, and Chip got out.
