I owned a beautiful example of an E Type in 1973 beautiful machine, but I have to hand it to you what I have just viewed is out of this world. It just shows what can be done when a real artistical engineer gets to work, the most beautiful machine on 4 wheels. Thanks

The car is hideous. I own a '67 E-Type roadster and I am usually pretty open to guys modifying their cars but this thing is just gross. And Foose has the audacity to claim that he knows better than the original designers. That would be Malcom Sayer and Bill Heynes, both geniuses in their own rights who are surely spinning in their graves.

One Italian car company owner, whose company was bailed out of bankruptcy a half a century ago says a Jag (the first ones were uncomfortable as hell for anyone over 6'2") is the most beautiful car in the world makes these two employees better than Chip Foose whose company is doing quite well? Really, give us a break!

Stunning functional artwork. I have met Chip - extremely personable, humble man, his lovely wife is same! My wife and I toured his shop some years ago and we saw Chip leaving for an appointment. I didn’t want to bum rush him and keep a distant away, he went out of his way to come over to introduce himself (as if he needed to!) and we were able to have brief, well appreciated conversation. I truly appreciate his talents, commitment to the auto industry and his generosity to others.

This is just a work of art.
At first i looked at this Jaguar and i didnt knew what to think, but just the attention to details, the way its all custom made, simply all the effort put into making this the dream car of its owner, its beautiful.
You guys complaining about this "yeah the wheels are big" "standard" should get yourselves a Jag and build it the way you want it to, this belongs to his owner, its his car, if he wanted he could handle it to freaking West Coast Customs and they would put 22 inch dub wheels, scissor doors, a pep boys wing, ice cream machine to the back and a pool in the interior.
As far as custom made cars go, this is incredible.

It would have been (more) interesting to do a homage to the Jaguar D-Type racing wheels, which were in fact used on racing versions of the E type. And I do agree with others about the wheel vs tire ratio. Too much wheel; too little tire, and that affects practicality as well as esthetics.

For everyone complaining about the car not being original, Mr Foose was building it for a client, like most of his designs. In case you're completely ignorant to the fact, the client briefs the builder on what they'd like, abd the designer/builder makes it happen. To some degree the builder may have some free reign, but the builder/designer still makes every detail in the some fashion that meets the clients design brief. Anyone can do a restoration, but it takes a true artist to modernise a restoration in a way that compliments the original design. In this case the vehicle is positively divine (and no doubt more reliable than an E-type in its original form). People complaining about the Jag not being original, you clearly haven't driven an original e-type, otherwise you'd understand that they breakdown every second trip out. As a restorer of motorcycles, i can honestly say that some of the best customs are often modern takes on classic designs. Not everything has to be exactly like it was 50 years ago. People can be original and make original ideas on age-old pre-existing designs. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you don't like the design... the PAYING CLIENT liked it, and thats why Foose makes the coin. He builds the stuff his clients dream of. So sit there and complain all you like about the car, it doesn't matter to him because he builds for his client, not for armchair critics that arent paying the bills. Namaste 😊

4:40 I wish that jacket wasn't there... but in retrospect, it dawned on me it was there for a purpose. Since the car wasn't entirely finished by then, it is likely the jacket was concealing something unfinished on the console, maybe the shifter, maybe something else. But this is, certainly, one of CF's most amazing builds, and those milled wire wheels are, by all means, the work of a genius. A humble genius no less.

What a fantastic interpretation of an already fabulous looking car. No criticism at all although personally I think the wheels would suit the car better if they were smaller. I just prefer a bit more sidewall on older cars but who am I to argue with Mr Foose

    • @mrarivv0007
      @mrarivv0007 4 роки тому +6

Nah. That's not the foose trademark. It's meant to have modern details. If he wanted it to be regular like you he would've done that. Why would he make a billet wheel that's small with thick rubber? That just simply doesn't make sense.

I love most of it, especially the closer bumpers, the refined lower air scoop and laid back windscreen, which was the biggest thing on the original E-Type that bugged me. But and it’s a big BUT those wheels and tires are way too big and would in my opinion be more appropriate on a donk, not on a beautiful car like this. I can imagine the huge amount of work and skill taken to make them but to me they’re not as elegant as a proper set of wire wheels, the tyre profile is to low as well and will probably ride really badly over any road that’s less than perfect. It seems like he made them to show of his wheel company not to make the car more beautiful. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
    Queue the haters.

Totally agree - A lot of the design, redesign and refinements are gorgeous, but those wheels just look trashy. He said that he wanted to design it as the original designers would have done - they didn't use such low profile tyres and such huge rims when this was designed. That is a design fail in my opinion. He's tried to modernise it while keeping everything else traditional. The two just don't sit together. You can call it 'edgy' or you can call it trashy. Those wheels just let down the whole design.

I'd have to disagree because I believe the wheels MAKE the car stand out. However, we all are allowed to have our opinions.
I am liking the look of how the bumpers( front and back) look. Many cars don't make the rear of the car gorgeous,...but Chip didn't miss any part of this car. Plus, I love the seats and the louvered hood. The color, I wasn't initially happy with until I saw the finished product...it works.

OMG what a stunningly beautiful car. Always loved the E-Type Jag (Have an XJ6 Sport myself). One thing that I think would make this stunner even more appealing would have been to have normal sized tyres with a whitewall rather than these low profiles. Just my thoughts... I really like Chip's take on a classic that is hard to improve on. I love the concept of the wheels being a wire style billet wheel, however, I think the design would flow much better if the wheels themselves were 2" smaller in diameter and had a fatter sidewall on the tire. I love how the mirror posts were blended into the windshield frame looking like a single piece, but I think the mirrors are a bit thin for function, some classic round or even better - bullet style mirrors would have been awesome!
My absolute favorite design elements though are the grille, lower air scoop, and the hood scoop reminiscent of a Ferrari 250

I think you are right on target; most of the work on this car is truly spectacular (and I am fine with the dainty mirrors!). The paint finish and the interior are beautiful. I appreciate the work that went into making a billet wire-style wheel but they are really disproportionate to the car and take away from what is an excellent rethinking of the E-Type. Smaller wheels with more sidewall would have been perfect but as they are it is disturbing. I love Chip Foose's work so I am surprised by this.
