Boyd was a miserable sob. His own show showed that. Chip didn’t owe him anything and his talent rose to the top❗️🇺🇸

I agree Boyd's show was more to do with management miserable attitudes.
They produced some beautiful products but the talent was all in the hands of the mechanics & craftsman.

I still remember the one computer design guy that worked for Boyd that was working for some other dude at the same time using his own talent and Boyd flipped and fired him. He was such a dick. Edit: I believe he was actually designing wheels for Chip Foose. It was almost twenty years ago my memory is foggy lol

Like someone else said Rawlings is No where near in the same class as THE MAN CHIP FOOSE!! Where Mr. Foose gets down & dirty & designs everything he works on, Rawlings does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on the cars in his shop! He does know how to drink & act like an IDIOT!! CHIP FOOSE IS BY FAR THE BEST!!! Very Humble & Very Nice Guy!! I seen him in Modesto Ca signing autographs with a huge line in the Modesto Heat (100) with out fail! Keep up the Great job Chip!!👍🏽👍🏽

Overhaulin is was and will always be the best of the resto mod shows mostly because the host was a funny ,kind and charismatic person, I watched American hot rod and while Mr Coddington seemed like a good guy his lead hand was a complete jerk who fostered a completely toxic environment in the shop and you couldn't blame them for migrating to Fooses place, "let's see do I keep working for a prick ? Or go and work for a nice guy?.......hmmmm let me think....."

This clip is not altogether “factual”. Chip Foose comes from a family of dedicated innovators and fabricators such as his father. Chip has been a designer and fabricator well before working for Boyd. Siren Boyd had some ideas, but Foose has proven over and over and over that he can take essentially anything that rolls and make it his own. Suffice to say, Fooses originality has won him many awards that eluded Boyd. Yes, Boyd sued Chip. Boyd lost. Shortly before Boyd passed, he did confess to the world Chip was an original.

Overhaulin'" turned out to be an amazing show with a rich history, but like all good things, it comes to an end. Financial issues, logistical challenges, and controversies will forever be a part of its legacy. However, no one can take away the wonderful moments and incredible cars that were restored thanks to this show. A big thank you to the "Overhaulin'" team for all the years of inspiration and excitement!

I loved it, bought DVDs, but one show made me uneasy, the Thunderbird they made into a roadster.
The owner loved that car, it connected him to his father. They did ask his wife about removing the roof entirely but I think it was an iffy decision.
I would have gone ballistic seeing such a radical change, limiting the car to fine weather only.

Of course, all good things must come to an end. Back in 2020, Rawlings announced that the famous Fast N’ Loud show was ending, which naturally came as a bit of a shock to many of his fans and fans of the show. The Discovery Channel TV show had run for nearly a decade, starting on June 6th 2012 and the final episode had in fact aired on June 8th 2020. Almost eight years to the day that the first episode aired, and having produced some amazing builds over the years.

Why would you ever have to pay taxes on a vehicle you already own? You don't pay tax on a valuation of a vehicle you pay tax on what you paid for it.
The only difference would be insurance prices.

Some of the comments aren't quite fair in this video. While Foose did work for Coddington for quite some time, he went to design school and his dad was a huge influence on his love of vehicles. Chip is known for winning the Riddler award and for designing the Hemis-fear as part of a Chrysler designed graduation project. Chrysler then created the Plymouth Prowler based upon that design. It's hardly fair to say that Chip used what he learned from Boyd and it upset Boyd. Boyd likely felt abandoned when going through bankruptcy and sever of his employees followed Chip. It was purely hurt feelings and its a shame that they didn't work it out before Boyd passed. Both men are and were excellent in their fields.

Anyone who thinks Chip is wrong for leaving Boyds doesn't know much about the hot rod industry.
Boyd was a legend in his own time, but he never evolved and he turned into a tyrant. Anyone who watched Am. Hot Rod could see it for themselves. Did he ever pick up a wrench on that show? He treated his guys like crap because "Im Boyd Connington."
Chip has never had such an issue, he treats people fair & respectfully, even though he is probably the #1 hot rodder/designer on the planet.
Richard Rawlings has quite the ego too, but he continues to back it up with hard work. But anyone who thinks RR is anywhere near the talent that Chip is , is highly mistaken.
I can remember when the painter ( sorry, can't remember his name) left Boyds and they were crying "How could you do this to us?!" Well its simple, he found a better opportunity, and if Boyds was a decent place to work it would not be hard to replace him with another talent. They knew he was someone who knew how to put up with their BS, and it would be very hard to replace him.

Chip is the GOAT. Boyd is a legend but he also came across as spiteful. Just look at the Charlie Hutton situation. Chip learnt a lot from Boyd but Chip brought his skills from his dad Sam to Boyd too. Richard is top of his game at what his does. Comparing him to Chip is not a fair comparison. Both shows had a different format and FNL resonated more with the tv watching community maybe because the lower end builds felt more attainable. I miss both shows greatly. Go watch the first seasons of Junkyard Wars"- the first three were done very much as the original from the BBC had been- a competition between two teams to find and turn junk yard parts into useful machines. Then watch the later ones- much drama, parts stealing, broken plot lines to add drama- that killed it; it was eight people who were all going to be involved in a charade in a script they weren't given. The hosts looked all powerful and smart people weren't. I'm sorry, that wasn't reality. The shows about the Lotus Europa (that I believe a certain well known personality/comedian/ maximum car guy helped broker) ran way overtime and wasn't complete; it came a derilict and left a better car than the late Colin Chapman has built it as a quarter century earlier. That was Chip doing what Chip does maybe better than most- get the most out of himself and everybody who works for him. Go look up Mike Curtis, who worked for Boyd and Chip; ask him what the difference is.

I found it interesting that in the narration of this episode the owner of the vehicle to be customized was referred to as " the mark" . That term is used by law enforcement to describe the victim of a scam or fraud . I have watched many videos featuring the amazing Chip Foose and his beautiful creations , and this presentation once again shows how money , production pressure and personality conflicts , behind the scenes , can cause things to go wrong very quickly .

I as well noticed how the customer was referred to as " the mark" , denoting them as the victim of a scam . Whenever you have a 3rd party of people , like the producers , who control the money and are primarily interested in cutting corners , speeding up production and maximizing their return on investment , you compromise everything , especially the quality of the product . A sad reality , sorry that such an incredibly talented designer and car guy like Chip Foose got sucked into this mess .

I liked overhaulin. Until they gave a restoration to Shaq. He could well afford it himself. They lost me here.

I liked the idea but the time line was unrealistic for a quality build. sorry, not buying it.
