decided that i want to cast out much farther at my usual spot so i just bought a Okuma Tundra TU-150 3 piece 15' medium/heavy rod and put my diawa df100a(10,000 size) with 100lb braid on it. looking forward to catching some giant catfish.
Just picked mine up a few days ago. My dad and I are going to Galveston Tx to do some fishing. I'm from Houston. I paired mine with an Okuma 8000 long cast surf reel with 30lb braid backing with 20 mono top shot. Going to cast 5.5 oz and half crab. Going bull red (red drum) and black drum.
Can't get a good bend on this fiberglass rod to whip it out 150 yards. I can get maybe 100 yards with a 4 oz weight. Its too stiff to really get much further. The 3 piece construction also probably does not help.
Most important before everything else, not everyone can handle casting 15' rods even w/practice, body not made to handle it, 12' should be more than enough, you defeat the purpose if you can't cast a 15', probably get the same distance w/a shorter rod ? 12' should be more than enough for the average surf fisher !
Have one going on 12 years and I love it.... abused it over the years and still going strong shark and ray fishing out here in Socal.
Awesome 😎. What kind of reel do you have on yours?

Long distance casting is all technique, rod held above head, bottom hand pulls top hand punches.

It’s a hard rod to swing for sure. I get better distance with my 10 foot penns
How much you pay on that rod
$40 Facebook market place 😎
Also on Amazon for about same price. Just bought one.
@@flyguy4515 how do you like it
@@buddahmayne9273 so it's pretty heavy, but it's definitely a cool rod to have in the arsenal. Great price.
@@buddahmayne9273 haven't fished with it yet. Will let you know
