20 lb braid 3 oz lead on mine with a penn pursuit 2 4000 let it fly 100-115 yds with ease. U r trying to overhead cast it. U need to stay parallel to the ground come around like u would swing a bat, then turn up push with your upper hand and pull into your waist with your lower hand
You still using this reel if so how is it holding up thinking about buying one
My biggest problem was gomexus 80w reels is the drag clicker wearing down

Don’t ever buy gomexus!! The drag it claims is only for show once you hook that monster the drag washers will burnt themselves down and you’ll have no drag at all.
If your getting into land based shark fishing get you a Okuma solterra 50wii (2 speed) or a Penn squall 50w (2 speed) the graphite one

They’re good for land sharks. Make sure you get the presets dialed in with a scale

decided that i want to cast out much farther at my usual spot so i just bought a Okuma Tundra TU-150 3 piece 15' medium/heavy rod and put my diawa df100a(10,000 size) with 100lb braid on it. looking forward to catching some giant catfish.

@brianhausherr2564 Sent a few baits out with it but never got picked up. My new Tiagra 130 hooked Megadon and broke my 24/0 hook 😭

Can't get a good bend on this fiberglass rod to whip it out 150 yards. I can get maybe 100 yards with a 4 oz weight. Its too stiff to really get much further. The 3 piece construction also probably does not help.
Didn’t use it once this winter but, getting a drone to drop baits a mile and try that out

Even tho the Drag Specs Seem A Bit Ridiculous What Would You Say The Real Max Drag Is On This 80W?
To quote my buddy in this video “this reel has big dick drag”. However, you don’t need to pump it all the way up. Reel will perform great at 70lbs at strike.
How well is your gomexus performing?
The reel is still good but, I may have to distance myself from Gomexus. Can’t get into specifics at this time but definitely keep watching. Thinking about doing an update review video where I throw away a completely good reel 🤷🏻♂️

Most important before everything else, not everyone can handle casting 15' rods even w/practice, body not made to handle it, 12' should be more than enough, you defeat the purpose if you can't cast a 15', probably get the same distance w/a shorter rod ? 12' should be more than enough for the average surf fisher !
It’s a hard rod to swing for sure. I get better distance with my 10 foot penns
