Never fished a okuma rod before. A guy here local wants to sell a 10ft rod for cheap. Thinking of getting it. This video helped With that decision. Thx
This is my first year surf fishing specifically. So I did a ton of research and ended up buying an Okuma Solaris Surf spinning rod and the Longitude 12 footer casting rod. Then my fav surf fishing channel AND you both endorse it.I did good! You're right that Longitude could pull a tugboat in ,that's the first thing I thought when I was handling it.Do you think the 8 would be a good carp/catfish rod?
Sorry it took so long to respond but I'm just now getting updated. The eight is still Stout. I've kind of leaned more towards 12' rod for distance. I am fixing to do a video comparing 3 different 12' surf rods under $100 for distance, action and weight.
I bought a 12' longitude off of ebay for long casting for Pompano but It seems from your video that it would be too heavy and not sensitive enough for that?
Mad Dog , what rod reel setup would you suggest for pier/jetty fishing , would Rockaway Surf Rods 10ft paired with 6k spinning reel work , any suggestions
I am a guide and Commercial surf fisherman and I've never had one break. They get used everyday and they've hauled in hundreds of bull Reds and sharks.
@@MaddogFishing Hey man, your videos are incredibly helpful for beginners like me. I do have one question about the Okuma Longitude rods though. They say they're rated for 3-8 oz but is that only for the sinker or do I have to keep the sinker and bait under 8oz?
the the rods can handle a 12 000 surf reels, eorry because of the space the rods let to the reel or not? because my reel have a large thing, you know the thing you screw with your rods...
I was able to land a 200 pound stingray with this rod last year works great
As you pointed out these rods are inexpensive & they get the job done. TY.
Dang good video, glad to see you posting again, keep them rolling bro ✅💥✌️
After watching your video, I ordered a 9ft casting rod. It was on a amazon sale for 57 dollars. Thanks for the info !
Great to see you back.....looks like your feeling better and back in the gym..Hope to see you in April as will be there for a month.
Thank you for the review!

Great video. Glad you got your camera back! I’ll be in town in a few hours for my fishing trip. Hope you guys tear them up this weekend!
The bottom section is beautiful work what exactly is that and how can I get it? Thanks sir!
i have heard so many mixed reviews about this rod but either way i might buy it in the future for throwing big poppers
It is heavy in action and weight.

Love the video man, I was just wondering which rod you think I should buy for big bull reds, black drum, and small sharks?
I like a heavy 12' rod but a stout 10' rod will do just as good.
Wondering how well a diawa bg 8000 would fit on the 11ft?
I got it on a 12 and it's my whale rig 😂

That will do just fine
Maybe 8 or 9' surf rod will be better for pier fishing
What wrap do you have on your rods?
Shrink wrap from Amazon amzn.to/46wLR3e
Anyone problems with them breaking? seeing a lot of negative reviews and was thinking of buy one.

I use 4 to 5oz pyramid sinkers plus 4+oz of bait. The longitude is a stout rod. The rod never feels overloaded.

I mean it will hold any spinning reel. It is designed for saltwater fishing.
Maddog where are you?
We missyou man
I'm back
