My wife blames you for getting me into surf fishing LOL! Oh well. She gets a beach trip 3 times a year now. Thanks for everything and keep up the great content.
I was in Perdido Key last week 10/15-10/22 boy did it get cold. I didn’t get to fish since I fell out of my tree stand 10/05/22 broke my neck my l5 my wrist and my pelvis in 3 places. The water was so calm and clear. At least I got out of Indiana and enjoyed the sun! We’ll be back been going since I was 12 now I’m 46. My boys tried off the beach but nothing. Love your content 🎃
Very informative video Triple B. So nice for you to break it down slowly and go over everything one by one in your setup for the target species. Yourself, Brant, Double B and CMR are the best of the best. Love seeing the family as well. Never change and as you say " you stay Bummy"!
Bass Pro sure has a lot of products for fishing and hunting. The only thing that kind of turned me off the last time I shopped at their store in Destin, Fl was that they only gave the 5% military discount to selected cheaper items. Dicks Sporting Goods gave me 10% on all the items that I bought so that is where I’m shopping now.
Excellent video again, Matt! Thanks for the explanation on tackle and gear! Everything is spot on to what I use! Great help and great advice! Stay Safe and Healthy!!
Just subscribed to your channel. I like your storytelling style and informative content. I’m on the West Coast, SoCal beach doing surf and pier fishing.
Excellent as always !! If you haven’t seen it go back to the video where Matthew tells of how he decided to launch his channel. It got me hooked and it was a great inspiration!
Thank You 🙏 for the tackle advice - I got a 10 foot Penn Battle III 8000 with 25 pound mono - sounds like I really messed up the line I picked out. I just subscribed to your channel.
Great fishing buddy...if you like the Halco poppers try their RMG Scorpion hard body lures they are amazing great Aussie tackle company from here down under. RMG lures were bought out by Halco & now manufactured by Halco.
Good information on the gear. Can you do an updated video for gear that beginners can look into? Maybe all the needed gear to get started including rods and reels for $150 or less?
Love all the tips, one day I will get a chance to actually try out my new found knowledge. I did get down to Ft.Myers but just in time to help my cousin secure their home and evacuate ahead of Ian.
Nice video. I only do set rig fishing in the surf but am looking to get into artificials. Would be great if you did a video with some more information about how to retrieve these lures.
Awesome! Thank you! This is back to your roots. I watch all your videos. It's not that I don't like the newer videos, but these are the videos that originally drew me to be a subscriber. I subscribed very early on and had a trip with you in April of 2018. It taught be how to be really successful at fishing the AL Gulf Coast for Pompano, whiting, etc. I had been searching for this kind of information since 2001. For years, there was nothing. Then you created a great resource. I hope you continue to create this kind of content.
Thanks for the info, now what to look for @ sporting goods department where I work @. Usually I spend my lunch hour looking for fish things that are on sale or clearance. Thanks again, keep it up!!
New to the channel and already love it. Any time I’ve been to the beach I’ve always used a 7 foot catfish set up but never made it past the wave break but worked perfect on the pier. What would you recommend for a rod and a reel just to catch what ever will eat. Sand fleas and shrimp and maybe some cutbate.
Great information may I ask, have you ever considered using plugs that are commonly used in the northeast for stripe bass and bluefish? darter plugs, needle fish lure, big bucktail jigs, bottle and metal lip plugs. I would like to see how commonly used New England surf tackle would works down there.
Great video. Just what i was looking for! Do you ever go below the 2oz lure rating of your 10’ MH Fast power rod? If so, whats the lightest you would go?
Thx Matt for the learning tips- it’s the great content for us to vary our fishing adventures. Doubled up on some Pompano Wednesday near the portofino condo towers during travels in Pensacola earlier this week. Truly a beautiful area-
Sounds crazy but I've always had fantastic results with white or chartreuse double jig tails. The body about 2.5" long before it goes into the curls on both sides. If you held the body facing down the 2 sides would look like you're making a "heart" shape. I walk in waist high water and walk up and down the beach with a 6'6" -7'6" medium rod , 12 lb test no steel leader but if you want use a mono leader. Cast parallel but into deeper water so you are between your lure and the beach. I've caught a few reds that way. Sure fire fishing in Sanibel Captiva
love them HALCOs. I noticed you use those quick clips on your leader. Any advantage using them versus just tying a loop knot? ( I mean other than it makes it quick and easy to change baits )
Matthew ~ Great Videos, I really do enjoy them and wish I could fish as well as you do. I do have a question; what do you do in regards to maintaining your rods & reels? I was saltwater fishing from the surf this year (Myrtle Beach, SC) and now my reels seem to be a bit gritty and hard to reel. So, what do I need to do to them to clean them up and get them ready for my next surf fishing adventure? Thanks & hope to hear from you!!! Take Care & God Bless!!!
Matthew thanks for all of your informative content. You talked in this video about fishing a point by an inlet. Does the state of the tide have an impact on exactly where and when you fish at these areas? Thanks again for your content. I tell everyone that I really learned how to fish from the beach (I am in Longboat Key FL) from your channel!
Aloha. Used to live there and that’s where I started salt water fishing. From the beach, Rod n’ Reel as well as Anna Maria piers. If I had extra cash, I would rent a boat from Cannon’s Marina. Left in ‘83. Good times.
This was a great video. I've been trying to talk my buddy into making a weekend drive down to GS for the fall run. We target those Crappie from the beginning of the video most weekends, but I'm itching to give the surf fishing a try.
What size and kind hook do you use to switch hooks from treble? Not a fan of trebles and would prefer single hooks that work for ES or Poppers. Thanks in advance.
I really liked your "info" segment! And now that your channel is getting big, maybe you can acquire some other rods, reels, line, and lures,, and give your thoughts on their performance/quality. Yes, I understand you've already done most of that yourself, to the point of only using what you use,, but it would be interesting (at least to me) of hearing your perspective on different things? Including the info of "where" your fishing and why, is also nice to hear!
First, I must say I love your content. Always look forward to and love watching your videos. Having said that...towards the end of this video, when your fighting that big jack, did you notice that light in the sky? Kinda in the upper right area. It dont think its the moon or the sun. Possibly a UFO?
Great video as usual Brother 👍 I just wanted to ask if you know or ever fished with bama saltwater? Keep the great videos rolling out Matt and I’m looking forward to what you catch next 👌
great vids m8 I have a question for you , the beach cart you use is so awesome but here in New Zealand I cant seem to get one could you get a supplier to send one down here as I am 65 now the treck down the beach gets harder so one of those would be a lifesaver cherrs Gary
Nice fish man, coming down in a few weeks. Is set rig fishing still good this time of year? , would whiting still be prevalent? Or should I go after other species? I’ll be in the Fort Morgan - Orange Beach area. Thanks
From a west coast beach bum, that sure looks like a powerful fish, and a beauty too! And from the partial view of the Sun setting in the west, I get the impression we're in.. Florida?
Love your videos! Are you cool with your line to line knot going thru your guides? Or is your mono leader shorter, so on your cast, it doesn't go thru the top guide? Peace out
I just recently retired and worked 30 years as a conductor engineer I totally years of 40 with the Alaska Railroad. I did a lot of fishing there bring a lot of salmon and halibut in my freezer here in North Carolina and I’ve been following your family’s videos which by the way I think is freaking amazing but I would love it if you would add me to your email chain or list.
Great video. thank you so much for the breakdown of lures at bass pro. Thank you for the great description of your gear. I want to live the beach bum lifestyle. Unfortunately work gets in the way. Lets Stay Bummy.
My wife blames you for getting me into surf fishing LOL! Oh well. She gets a beach trip 3 times a year now. Thanks for everything and keep up the great content.
Your wife is a lucky women that you like surf fishing lol
Hope she is enjoying the sunrises and sunsets with you! Tight lines
My wife hasn’t made that statement to me, yet. But she will at some point. Long live the Beach Bums.
@@rmeliso long live
I was in Perdido Key last week 10/15-10/22 boy did it get cold. I didn’t get to fish since I fell out of my tree stand 10/05/22 broke my neck my l5 my wrist and my pelvis in 3 places. I agree with ya. Jacks usually fight to the end and never really give up.
Very informative video Triple B. So nice for you to break it down slowly and go over everything one by one in your setup for the target species. Yourself, Brant, Double B and CMR are the best of the best. Love seeing the family as well. Never change and as you say " you stay Bummy"!
Tackle tips are most appreciated. Keep them coming. Great content Matthew.
Targeting jacks with topwater lures from the beach is my favorite type of fishing. Great information and video

Missing taking guided trips with you, but so glad you're rocking it on YT! Hopefully I'll see you on the beach sometime. Keep up the solid content!
I appreciate the tips and what you’re using. Would love to see more videos like this. I just started surf fishing so any tips are very helpful.
Just subscribed to your channel. I like your storytelling style and informative content. I’m on the West Coast, SoCal beach doing surf and pier fishing.
Thanks for subscribing!
Thanks for the info. Learned a lot and gave me input on what I need to get for the surf. As always great video. Hope u make more of these Matt!
@text-3998 Just saw this.
Excellent as always !! If you haven’t seen it go back to the video where Matthew tells of how he decided to launch his channel. It got me hooked and it was a great inspiration!

Appreciate it, Bama, I've always been curious and wanted to try when I come down on the annual family vaca. THanks for the into and eduacation!!!!
LOVE the detailed tackle layout at the beginning. Thanks a lot!
Great video. Reminds me I got to get back to more surf casting and cape cod canal fishing. Stripers are still going thru on the return run!
Another great one, Matt! Bass pro in Fort Myers has a BIN of the big Yozuri 3d poppers for $5.99 👀👀
What’s the difference between a spoon and a diamond jig? Also the tackle shop!
Cool I'm looking to build a surf fishing box...what else would you recommend?
Love all the tips, one day I will get a chance to actually try out my new found knowledge. I did get down to Ft.Myers but just in time to help my cousin secure their home and evacuate ahead of Ian.

Do you fish the little lagoon around gulf shores?
If so what have you caught? Any tips on bait to use, lures etc?
Thank you for any advice.
Thanks for the info! Great video. Would love to come down a few days and get you to show my husband and some beach fishing pointers.🎣❤️🇺🇸😎
Thanks for the info, now what to look for @ sporting goods department where I work @. Usually I spend my lunch hour looking for fish things that are on sale or clearance. Thanks again, keep it up!!

What do you use to tie your leader to your main line?
Good info went to beach 2weeks ago got a 34" red on cut bait thanks for the info

I would like to see how commonly used New England surf tackle would works down there.
Where are you fishing and what time of year is it? How do you find beach that there aren't a bunch of beach goers blocking where you can fish? thanks!
Hell yeah! Just found the fish… getting bites and my knots and tackle are being exposed as frauds. LOVE the vid. Thank you.
Cool thanks for the advice on tackle and how to catch big fish. Awesome video 👍👍👍👍👍
Matt, once again an excellent vid. Alot of folks new to surf fishing can become productive faster with good information.
Really appreciate the thought and time you put into your videos. Always great content, but also awesome tips
Hi what is the kind of the rod? Its length? Also what kind of rell u use? And what kind of fishing line and its strength? Thx a lot.
love it when you catch those jacks!!! specially when it was at cabo..
Great video. Just what i was looking for! Do you ever go below the 2oz lure rating of your 10’ MH Fast power rod? If so, whats the lightest you would go?
Im way late, but what knot are you using to tie your lead and braid?
I really like your fishing rod you used. Where can I get my hands on one?
Thx Matt for the learning tips- it’s the great content for us to vary our fishing adventures. Doubled up on some Pompano Wednesday near the portofino condo towers during travels in Pensacola earlier this week. Truly a beautiful area-

I love watching your videos on my break when I'm not fishing.
love them HALCOs. I noticed you use those quick clips on your leader. Any advantage using them versus just tying a loop knot? ( I mean other than it makes it quick and easy to change baits )
Great video, thanks for the info on tackle for us newbies!

Are jacks good eating? Do you typically catch and release?
Not those. They’re good in the pacific.
My favorite type of surf fishing is throwing big plugs! Great video
Great video just wondering how long is you mono leader?
Wow what a nice fish! Thank you showing one more reason to leave california.
Thank you for the tackle run down. Cheers!
Awesome video.. thank you so much for sharing your knowledge Brother..😃👍
Now that’s what I’m talking about, great content and instructions, thanks for sharing your information with us ✅💥✌️
I use the yozuri mag poppers 130mm/5 in
I really enjoy watching your videos. Even more after listening to your story. Locked in all the way from the beautiful Caribbean Island of St. Lucia.🙂

Thanks Matt, that was a blast!!!
Great vid. Hope next time I go to the coast I can hook a big jack. Have a great afternoon and I'll see you on the next vid
I'd like the information you shared. Nice Jack!
One of my absolute favorite fish to catch. I just wish they made it up to NY. Lol.
Nice job on a tank of a JC…
What size and kind hook do you use to switch hooks from treble? Not a fan of trebles and would prefer single hooks that work for ES or Poppers. Thanks in advance.
@bamabeachbum what’s the box ur using ? Really like how minimal it is.
I really liked your "info" segment!

Great video as always BBB, good breakdown of your gear and technique!
I have to second 'Fishing Jim Colon' comment, Matt, this was EXTREMELY informative and very entertaining. Thank you guys for the awesome content!!!!!
Great video as usual. Are there different artificial baits you use for different times of the year?
Awesome tackle tips and love the videos!
Those Rapala is it the Regular Slash or Shallow Slash? Thanks in advance!
could you please tell me the fishing rod brand in this video?
First, I must say I love your content. Always look forward to and love watching your videos.

Sounds like my set up. I cant say enough good things about the Bunny stick. Well anything that Savage Gear make actually. Great quality.

Always great content. keep it up..greetings from Miami FL
Matt.. fantastic jack from shoreline... nicely played.. enjoyed the fight and video too 🎣🔥💪
Thanks for the tips! Keep on keeping on buddy. Awesome videos.
Is this a scam or is it real
It’s a scam…very annoying. Trying to delete them all.
Thanks! At first I was like heck yeah then i realized it was a scam. Love your videos!
that looked like a ton of fun! thanks for the video
I just recently retired and worked 30 years as a conductor engineer I totally years of 40 with the Alaska Railroad. That was a hoss! Great video, Matt. Thanks.
Could you have kept the jack?
Thanks, Matt!
I love this type of 🐠 my I got my offshore angler from bass pro
I have a question Matt. Why do you like the single hooks better than the trebles?
Better hookset, less chance of getting hooked yourself, usually better quality hooks (I swap my own), and if you do lose a fish, it’s not buttoned up.
Easier to unhook the fish.
Do the xraps sink, suspend or float?
Good stuff! Love you info/intro
Great video. thank you so much for the breakdown of lures at bass pro. Thank you for the great description of your gear. I want to live the beach bum lifestyle. Unfortunately work gets in the way. Lets Stay Bummy.
Your fishing skill is very good 👍👍
Where are you from? Probably Florida? What city?
Thanks!
Thanks so much for the information bro
What is your knot, to lure pls?
