That's right. In 2024 Amber Heard still has litigation ongoing. Amber is appealing the court's dismissal of her claims against insurer New York Marine. Heard is arguing that New York Marine breached their agreement with her when they denied her independent counsel to defend her in the Virginia Defamation suit brought by Johnny Depp against her. Amber Heard had two different insurers who had hired attorneys to defend the case. New York Marine’s lawyers ceased representation of Heard before the Virginia trial. New York Marine argued that they were not obligated to provide Heard with independent counsel and, therefore, hadn’t breached their agreement with her. The court agreed, and the appeal followed.

I’d rather just thank Amber for proving that he was innocent, her testimony and cross-examination wrecked her own credibility and case
For someone who repeatedly said on the stand that she wanted to move on from this whole ordeal and be left alone, it doesn't seem like she's really trying to move on. But even more interesting, she kept repeatedly saying that Johnny wouldn't leave her alone and move on from this whole ordeal, but he seems to be the only one who is genuinely moving on and putting this whole ordeal behind him.
This is the catch with Cluster B's such as AH. Words mean nothing, and are just a malleable tool to get what she wants in the here and now. In short, there is no depth behind her words. It's just theater for gain. Her ACTIONS are what to watch. She kept fighting and chasing JD. At the chance to be a "star witness" in the UK, she was there with her little black dress. Her actions are of fighting, her PR team and their mean girl garbage. That's AH. What was said on the stand about being left alone, and he kept harassing her, verbal theater for PR, nothing more.

This case is still driving me up the wall. I can't believe how many people blindly support Heard. I've had multiple friends say things about the case and then I've asked them if they ever watched any of it? And they never have. And I tell them I watched every minute of the trial here with EDB, and I don't believe a single word out of Heard's mouth.

I had a similar discussion with someone on another platform who bothsided this situation and surprise, she didn't watch the trial either. She was convinced I was being lied to by both of them and I had ' fallen for it'. I also had to just 'let it go'. sigh...exhausting these people.

I think she's probably pissed because the lawyers NYM had picked (and she initially agreed to) in Virginia, would likely have done a much better job than Elaine (well, it's impossible to do worse). But my guess is that she couldn't manipulate them the way she could Elaine & co. And the reason NYM stopped paying Travellers after that was because they were just running away with the expenses. Not enforcing attorneys fees caps, etc.

As a legal assistant for an insurance company, there is NOTHING nerdier than this!! Honestly it’s a whole world of it’s own and nightmare fuel sometimes.
Always read your policy, the assumptions that get made are what cost people the most.

It’s a really small benefit of a larger type of policy. If you own real property you should definitely look at an umbrella policy.

I know you're an American lawyer but I recommend you watch Mr Bates versus the Post Office, a documentary about a British case that's been described as the biggest scandal in British legal history. It's incredibly gripping and all taken from fact.
I think what is wild to me is that it's almost 2 years on and she just cannot walk away. Where is she even finding the money for this? Those appeals lawyers are not cheap, especially as these guys seem to be a bit more capable at their jobs (I notice they don't exactly lie but they do stretch the truth close to the edge or leave certain things out). So, how is she funding it when she was supposed to be broke, and currently (allegedly) has no income?!
Ultimately, NYM did provide her with the cali lawyers of her choice. And they chose some really good lawyers in Virginia to represent her, whom she initially agreed to, but who were then shunted off the case. NYM had then agreed to pay towards the remaining laywers at a specific rate, but it was a) Travellers were happy to let the new lawyers (Elaine! And co) run up insane costs in the multiple millions over the agreed amount, and b) her shitty new lawyers who shut out the insurance company..like how can you pay (and why should you pay blindly) if you have no idea what is going on?
Oh, and I guess c) Travellers & Elaine, et al. blew way through the limit for which NYM had to cover her for anyway. From what I recall of the earlier briefs from NYM they had already paid almost $¾mil in attorney fees before they were pushed out. Really, if I were NYM I would have just sent Travellers a cheque to take it up to the $1m and said there, we're square. And she has no room to complain because she did get independent counsel (who apparently had a blank cheque from Travellers)...and look what they did for her! 🤦🤦🤦
That said, if independence from the insurance company was that important to her, then why was the VP of Travellers in court almost every day in the front row, with her sister at times, and arriving to court with her. In fact, wasn't it discovered that AH was staying in a 22k a month house paid for by them/her expenses during the court case?!
I missed the resolution of the Travellers vs NYM case, it seems from this recap that they reached a settlement, do we know what they settled for?

For those wondering. The budget of the movie was estimated to be 10 mil. Only the box office numbers from Italy are known publically, and they're posted everywhere as if they're the full number, which is around 22k. So take it with a grain of salt, but since the currently known numbers need to spike fivehundredfold to break even, it probably hasn't yet.
The reviews depending on the source are diverse, ranging from an average of 4.5/10 to a 2.8/10 from the handful of sites I checked. And while there undoubtedly is a lot of hate towards Heard in the public reviews, from what I saw from professional reviewers was that they weren't too kind to her acting abilities or the general directing of the movie either.

Insurance companies are very tricky and masters of inserting negating language into contracts to avoid paying out. It will be interesting to see where these cases go.

Does she usually provide a link to legal documents? I haven't really watched Emily since the original hearings and I don't recall there being any link to legal documents. I do remember looking up some of the documents on my own and from other sources.
@jmason1770 Agree - but the VA documents were easy to find as have most of the Insurance case documents until it passed into the Appeal Court which sadly I have no idea where to find. Happy to pay for them as my bad eyes make reading from the screen difficult.
I read my Grandfather's cases (After he came home from both World War II and Korea. Purple Heart recipient) at Justia. There are cases that are current there as well, it's a great site.
