Theory: the guy from the story where the medication gave him time skips went for the trial in the same college building that was burned down in the story with the college kids exposing the men in black.
I think the first story could also be something to do with the medication. The man describes the tape like a dream. It could be something he remembers from real life, when he was in a dream state
My favorite text is probably "Where Does Wastewater Go?" because it reads like it was written by a college student who pulled an essay out of their mystery flesh pit because they were sick and tired of that class and/or they couldn't be bothered to do the assignment properly. I can really see myself in them.
On my last assignment I had to do as I was finishing high school we had to do a presentation on a conspiracy theory of our choosing, I knew that I had already done well enough to get a good grade so I took the opportunity to present the most absurd PowerPoint presentation of how Jews were presented in the movie Borat as shapeshifting demons, I even had the scene from the movie where they freak out at a bed and breakfast run by a nice old Jewish couple and run screaming from the house in the middle of the night which I presented as found footage. I somehow got a B+.
@@assbepis3310 I wonder if I can beat that. Back in highschool, I had to write a descriptive recounting of a historical event of my choosing. That required research, and I hate doing research, so I wrote a descriptive account of humans first landing on Mars; an event in the future from the perspective of someone even further in the future who time-travelled back to see it. IIRC, I only got in trouble because I had too much dialog (between the narrator and his AI companion). I was quite descriptive, and since that was the point of the assignment, the teacher couldn't do anything.
"Rain soaked cities" The first story happened after it rained, a city/town that appeared out of nowhere due to the rain. "Abandoned wings" The taxidermy bird that had its wings unused for presumably a very long time before it began its vengeance. "Its behind your house, and in front, itll be there for eternity" Fiona's ghost is both backwards and forwards in time, and will be there forever Just a thought on what the poem may be, perhaps its from the perspective of someone who observed all these events as they were happening

I've only watched the first story but I have to say-This is literally narcolepsy. I have severe narcolepsy, and that sort of thing can happen a lot. Hypnogogic dreams are a side effect of narcolepsy, and they are particularly scary because for whatever reason they are indistinguishable from reality. I have had moments during work where I have started to fall asleep, but then began to have a hypnogogic hallucination that was just a continuation of my normal work day, and eventually things spiral out of control before I wake up and only 3 minutes have passed. I have even dreamed entire normal days before, only to wake up and realize that that day never happened
I have that happen to me all the time. No one ever believes me. Like my alarm will go off and wake me up. Then somehow I fall back asleep, but in my dream I get up, get ready for work, and get through like half of a work day before I wake up and realize I'm still in bed and now I've overslept. I didn't know it was connected to narcolepsy, and I don't believe I have narcolepsy. I thought I was the only one who experienced this
@@assbepis3310 yeah i had it once I was laying in bed asleep but conscious so I knew I was laying Down in my bed and my eyes where closed so it was just darkness with my imaged room then I heard the door open which scared me because I didn’t know who it could be in the middle of the night but I felt a presence I hoped they would go away but they didn’t I thought maybe it was a robber what I remember was if a robber comes in and your sleeping to stay asleep because they won’t hurt you if your asleep just steel but then I felt them lome over me looking at me to see if I was asleep it was a woman because I felt her long nail glid over my back which I flinched at the touch, bad call as I could tell she felt it and knew I was up so she was there over my bed looking at me waiting for me to open my eyes to do who knows what and I kept them close afraid what will happen when I open them but I got more curious I had to know what they would do so throwing logic away I opened my eyes to see Nothing no one was in my room it was empty night I was unnerved

I've had really realistic dreams for over 2 years now. Sometimes they are really bland and normal; I've had entire debates with my father and felt all the stress and feelings, only to wake up and have to ask myself "Did I dream about a conversation I had already, or did I dream about a conversation that hasn't happened yet? A lot of times lately the dreams are less reality-based, but I go to the same places in the dream most times, and tend to do the same or similar things every time I sleep. It's been wild, tbh, I've never dreamed like this before in my life. I don't have narcolepsy either, I don't know what's going on in my brain 🙃
The stalking one hit wayyyyy too close to home. Niceguys/nicegirls really DO act like that and it's freaking terrifying. I don't blame Steve for either faking or genuinely dying because of the fact that he made EYE CONTACT with someone and it spiraled from there. Exceptionally realistic.
I was stalked a few years ago, I'm a guy so thought it wouldn't bother me. But this woman was nuts. And it did make me very paranoid. Sorry ladies for all the creepy dudes I know what you feel now.
@@aresjerryit happens to everyone. statistically, women get targeted more than men, though it's possible that's due to underreporting. stalking is terrifying no matter who you are, and it's awful you had to go through that.
Honestly I much prefer the idea of the taxidermy heron being controlled by its own spirit, rather than being possessed by a human ghost. Herons aren't aggressive birds (they're quite shy, and so small that they usually don't pose a threat to humans) but almost all animals will lash out in aggression if they feel cornered or confused, something which is amplified if the animal suddenly finds itself in an unfamiliar and disorienting environment. The concept of an animal ghost, confused and stressed due to a combination of an unfamiliar environment and an inability to grasp the nature of its situation, lashing out at neaby people or becoming outright aggressive is a really interesting concept to me.
I worked at a raptor rescue and got a Great Blue Heron that came in after getting stuck in razor wire. It was leagues beyond the hawks and eagles I was used to, it almost removed a workers eye and left a huge gash on her face, the only thing that saved her were her glasses. It would lash out if anyone got even close to it. They aren't aggressive, but the poor thing was injured and cornered and became hyper defensive.

Re: Requiem for Steve I think the woman did finally meet Steve, but she freaks him out. She ended up killing him. Too much exact detail on his "suicide" and laptop being on the forum is super suspicious.

for the heron story, I like the bit where she comments "I saw its teeth" even though birds don't have teeth. It might seem like an oversight at first but you can imagine whatever is controlling the heron bearing its teeth at the woman after being shot, snarling in anger. Birds don't have teeth, but whatever IT was, must have
There are actually a handful of birds that have teeth, mostly ones that hunt in the water which would fit the heron, though I don't know if the heron is one of them. Considering that geese are one of the birds with teeth, bird demon would still be a fitting description either way
@@chaosandbunnies8291 actually, I just did a bit of research and found out that no birds have actual teeth. Like you, I thought birds who hunt in water such as penguins had teeth, but it turns out penguins just have sharp ridges on their tongue and the roof of their mouth to grip food. Other birds have sharp protrusions attached to their beaks, but those are part of the beak and therefore not teeth. Although I didn't find a decisive answer during my brief look into it, it seems like herons don't have anything resembling teeth.
@@chaosandbunnies8291 as for geese, their "teeth" are called tomia, and is essentially spiky cartilage (not enamel as our teeth are made of), and are less durable than real teeth.
On the note of Steve faking his death by getting his buddies to lie so he can avoid a stalker: Been there, done that. Even ran into the girl years later and managed to convince her I was a different person as I now have a beard and years of partying worn onto my face. But ya, that girl was the kind you expect to wake up and see her holding a part of you she severed.
I had a friend I grew up with, she had a friend who was kind of a tag along. I didn't notice at first but she got more and more clingy onto me. My friend was making fun of me then one day she got real serious and told me that tag along girl was telling her about how the two of us went out one night and long story short she was pregnant with my baby. Absolutely none of that was true and my friend knew that but was so disturbed by her rambling story she didn't tell her she knew she was lying. Ended up telling her a "secret" that I was gay but not to tell anyone because I and my fictitious boyfriend weren't out to our family. Been 20 years, I ran into her at the store about a year back, I was with my 2 kids, had to hold back laughing the whole time I talked to her.
The story about the guy who was taking drugs and losing consciousness for longer and longer periods of time DEFINITLY reminds me of "Long Dream" by Junji Ito. I think Wendigoon would LOVE Junji Ito's works (I mean, he probably already knows about them).

Something else, too (ik someone already mentioned it but still)- birds dont’t have teeth, as she described in its mouth. Herons don’t have anything on their bill that could be mistaken for them. Mistake on the author’s part or not, it definitely adds to it

I think whats really good about this ARG is a lot of these "posts" feel like they're made by real people. The writing is insanely authentic feeling, though it could also be how Wendi is reading it.
@@Roadent1241 The point is that it doesn't feel forced or unrealistic. A lot of the time in lesser stories and ARGs the characters don't feel authentic, usually due to poor writing or pacing.

As someone who experiences hypnagogic dreams, I will say that they're absolutely horrifying. They usually consist of hordes of bugs and spiders crawling up the walls and ceilings or shadow people a couple feet away from the bed and sometimes in front of my face. In one instance a spider the size of a dog fell from the ceiling and caused me to jump out of bed screaming, waking up my mom and having her find me crying and trying to find the spider that suddenly disappeared. The one that really shook me to my core happened some time last year. I woke up around 1-2am to a man saying "you should leave". I didn't process it right away, but when I looked over I found a man, wearing a deer head (very similar to Briarhearts from Skyrim, best way I can explain it). This didn't freak me out yet and he said "you should get up". Without thinking, I responded "okay", got up, went downstairs and sat on the couch for a few minutes before realising what just happened. I went back upstairs, shaking and unsure of what to do if there really was a stranger in my bed, I opened my bedroom door to find no one was there. Took me a couple hours to fall back asleep that night lol
Holy fuck. I have had hypnagogic dreams too but nowhere near that terrifying. It happened the first time when I was a kid after having a nightmare about a skeleton, I woke up and saw the skeleton in my doorway. Another time I opened my eyes and saw my cat's face right in front of mine like it was sitting on my pillow. I was so confused when the cat when away when I blinked
Oh no, I just remembered a hypnogogic dream I had as a teenager and was it awful. I had just woken up from deep sleep in the middle of the night and had to go to the restroom. So, I got up and took care of business, but when I got up to flush, the toilet was full of small worms. I screamed so loudly it woke up everybody in the whole damn house and they found still in the restroom, having a panic attack and sobbing my eyes out. Oh dear lord, what memories we repress.

It could be that Derek, rather than time warping in the TV entry, had his perception of time sped up. He's struggling because instead of experiencing things on a second by second basis, he's operating on day by day temporal perception. It's like how if you see a car go by, it's a blur. But when you're in the car, your perception of movement is different because you're moving with it. Essentially, it's a story about a guy becoming a speedster, like the Flash. But unlike the Flash, Derek doesn't actually feel the passage of time, nor does he really get a grasp of how it operates. He essentially exists at 3X speed, while his perception and senses are lagging at 1/2 speed.
NGL if I had to chose between a time warp without lasagna, or a time warp with lasagna… you know where I’m going with this. I mean, come on. It’s lasagna.
“Requiem for Steve” was so funny to me, just imagining a chick risking it all for a man who ONLY looked at her direction. I’m not even convinced he looked at her. The whole time I was just thinking “Sis, get up!!! You can’t be down this bad, please get up” 💀💀
I'd like to add that hypnagogic state is the period between being awake and asleep before falling asleep, and hypnopompic state is the reverse one, when you're about to wake up fully
Since you're the only comment up at the top talking about it in particular; Apologies if wendi mentioned this already 'cause I haven't finished the video yet, but each line seems to correspond to a story that's been covered "I took a flight through rain soaked cities" being a reference to the hat man story at the beginning "Flew away on abandoned wings" being the zombie heron "Gaze inward and you'll find it" perhaps being about joyce "You've missed it, now it's behind your house, now in front" drawing parallels with the guy who was losing years "It will always be there if you keep this up" being about longing for something greater I don't know if I'm drawing the right connections or just looking too deep into it but i think it seems like lacy redescriptions of the previous stories
"Genetic opportunity" reminds me a lot of that creepypasta where a man undergoes a similar drug trial experience, except his perception of time slows dramatically down to where he is stuck sitting in a subway station for millions of years and is forced to experience time at absolute zero. Time is the real cosmic horror :D

Pretty sure the last guy in that story witnessed her stabbing herself with the heron. So either she really was hallucinating and ended up doing that while it appeared to her like she was being attacked, or the thing possessing the heron only showed itself to her.
This is on the lvl of reddit Horror stories in which all the participants need to be brain dead otherwise the story couldn't happen. This is a sign of an inexperienced writer, not saying it's bad, but this too tore me out of the story back when I originally engaged with it.
My interpretation of that is that the heron reanimating is, logically, impossible it just cannot happen. But we believe it did, we’re reading a scary story on the internet so of course it happened. At the end of the story the guy (Harry I think?) seems to be believing her somewhat in spite of himself because he knows that dead animals don’t just sneak around torment and kill people. I think the actual unrealistic thing in that story is that Deborah still went to work there and that the cctv that was installed wasn’t pointed at the ONE THING IT WAS CLEARLY NEEDED FOR COME ON
@@sophdog2564No, he found her body moments before she died, with her grip on the herons talons and beak. In other words, it is HEAVILY implying the heron mutilated her and then went back to being a statue moments before being discovered. This also goes along with the seal
The cloning guy story is literally what it's like to live with time blindness with ADHD. A few times Ive been super into a puzzle and skipped 6 hours of a day, not feeling hungry or tired or going to the bathroom, and skipping several college classes I had that day
@@peenyyt4921 it's not that people with ADHD sleep for literal years, just that the feeling is similar because of bad memory and never cementing stuff to long term memory. It feels like a time skip sometimes when I get super into something, so it's LIKE this but on a smaller scale.
The idea of ghosts being detached from the linear nature of time is really interesting to me too. The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor also do some really cool things with that!
its really sad as well, because it implies that regardless of the writer’s urges, he is unable to convince fiona to never go back to that cliffside. the fact that he sees her spirit in the very first place means that she WILL die there no matter what. it has to happen to validate their initial meeting. after all, if the writer did successfully prevent her return, then she never wouldve died there, never wouldve been bound, and he never wouldve seen her spirit in the first place in order to start this chain of events. its comparable (in my opinion) to the grandfather paradox.
@@VillainKinnieDepends on whether you subscribe to the Novikov Self-Consistency Conjecture or not. If you do, then yes, she will die then and there, no matter what. If not, then she can be saved. The story doesn't seem to care about logical time-keeping, so I'd say that it's the latter. There's hope. By the way, you're right on the money; it's not just comparable to the Grandfather Paradox, it _is_ the Grandfather Paradox. It's just phrased differently. Both can be expressed as the following: "Can you do action X to prevent event Y, when action X can only exist because of event Y?"
Honestly I just assumed she managed to find and kill Steve and that last post was her trying to rationalize her actions/cover for herself whilst having a mental breakdown, but honestly I too hope our boy Steve is still around. Anyways nice find on such an obscure but cool ARG, can't wait to see where else this goes in future videos.
I found this one website that was full of horror stories. It was created a day before I had found it and I never found it after. I’m not even sure if it was real or just a really vivid dream. But the one story I truly remember was all about a serial killer who managed to never get caught and when he was older all the skeletons of the people he killed would slowly push through the floor or his house even after he moved multiple times and even after he moved to an apartment on the top floor of an apartment complex. They even started to come out of the walls. The guy ended up killing himself but was dug up after screams were coming from his coffin and he was found in the coffin “alive” and surrounded by skeletons that were clawing at his body. The entire coffin was sealed shut with many locks as well as metal and leather straps all around it and dumped into the Atlantic Ocean. While the crew was shipping it out they near constantly heard clawing from the coffin and after it was dumped one of the youngest crew members dove in after it and was never found again.
I remember hearing this exact story awhile back too but don’t remember exactly what it was from. I read a lot of spooky shit online though some of it gets lost or forgotten. For sure remember this from somewhere though, you’re not just imagining it. I don’t remember the last bit with the ocean tho, but that might just be my memory
The second story about the guy losing awareness of his life and the traumatic events happening to him feels like being on antidepressants and stimulants sometimes, especially as a teenager. You're failing all your classes but you just can't feel the emotion to care, and life is speeding by you. You'll be 16 soon, but you feel like a toddler because you don't get out and do things, but it's hard to explain to anyone and all you're seen as is lazy when you're not all there sometimes and the days just seem to go by like minutes. This is currently what I go through and feel like him occasionally, but on a lesser scale, of course. It's all so confusing but you know you'll be worse off without your meds.
Yes, the antidepressant/stimulant combo is really good at doing that, and it often gets worse with time so if you can try to start combating it now that would be best. Mindfulness/meditation/surrounding awareness helped me, sometimes I just look at a clock and count the seconds to be in the moment. New experiences and traveling are fantastic but I understand that's really not feasible, but I wish you the best
@@christmastiger Thank you, this has been going for 3 years now, so I've had my time to get used to it. I plan to get off these meds before I become an adult so it won't hinder my ability to have children and whatnot (although that might just be me overthinking.)
@@OARFISHED I tapered off of them in college and it worked for me but always do what is best for you, it helped that I was in a good mental place to do it right (since you probably already know how shitty getting off and on antidepressants is). You're not alone in how you feel if that helps, definitely try the mindfulness thing if you have a chance and good luck!
Maybe this is what's making my anxiety with time worse. I take both and i constantly feel like I'm running out of time. I'm not failing any classes, it's mute like it seems like there's no assignments anymore and I'm just asking for the ride, wasting my time away by spacing out from my chem teacher's lecture and randomly doing state tests so my school can get more money.

With requiem for Steve, it could be that she killed him. She goes really into detail on how his body was, moreso than she'd be able to if she was getting the info from his coworkers. The final note may be part of her alibi or something
Honestly, I think it’s because people raised in the 90’s are now almost all in their 30’s. So not only do the writers know how to tickle our fancy with nostalgia, but also are old enough to have honed storytelling and writing skills. Not saying younger people can’t be good writers, but life experience can make for a more well rounded story about every day adult life, and not a teenager’s idea of what adult life is like. Also not saying that older people can’t be good writers, but there can be a disconnect in culture and values when writers and readers aren’t the same age… Idk, just a theory. Just my rationale as to why some stories “hit home” or are in that “sweet spot.” 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
With how much Wendigion talks about Horror, I’d love to see his take on The Magnus Archives. Every time he talks about his fear of the ocean and infinity, I’m reminded of the entity The Vast. I think he, and anyone else who loves creative horror would love to take a listen.

I feel like this kind of format is really the future of good and innovative horror. Archives and forums and channels really maximize the interaction you can have with what's being shown and with other people, it's a dynamic that lends itself so fucking well to horror and strangeness. Plus now that it's all existed for literally decades you can cash in on nostalgia too which really heightens that feeling of mixed curiosity and fear and familiarity of this kind of media. I hope you continue covering it!
You are right. Since the popularisation of internet, some authors have been experimenting with "Interactive Literature". I studied it during my degree and master's and it's becoming popular among teachers, because it's a good tool to teach certain contents and skills. And I also agree with you, this kind of literature it's perfect for horror and mystery genres.

I think the line "no angel came for me, but the hat man did" is implying that the hat man is a sort of guardian for people in the hypnagogic state which is why the kids friend said it didn't attack them but rather watched them.
hey man, about the timeloss story. i was on medication that effected me in that way. those reactions are not to far off, when it starts. only when you are told you do it you kinda realise whats happening. there is no conception in yourself that time can and would move in that way. i was losing about half a day some times before i was told. you really go from "well lunchtime....... o its dinner time, must have looked at the time wrong.... how did i get home, o yeah by bike" your mind is so confused it will fill in the gaps for you. but everyone is different and reacts differently

My Steve theory was immediatelly "Steve and this stalker are the same person" that's why there's no profile picture, because it would be the stalker acknowledging they're really Steve. I don't think this person dies at the end but I do think they are suicidal. More of a vibe than anything, idk
I immediately thought the stalker had finally found then killed Steve. Her final entry sounds like a poor attempt to deter suspicion and push the idea of a suicide. The details are even more rushed and illogical than usual. Especially when she mentions the way his eyes looked staring up blankly in death. Sounded like she was up close and personal and haunted by the image. And the vague way she describes his friends. The way she reflects on his sudden death sounds off for a suicide and more like a person shocked from what they just did and scrambling to say things that sound like she’s innocent. Which is some excellent writing especially if that was the intent
18:20 If anyone wants to experience a story similar to Genetic Opportunity that takes itself more seriously, there's an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 called "The Visitor" (S4E3) where Captain Sisko is caught in a time portal that only lets him out to live his life for a few hours per decade. As such, he sees his son grow from a teenager to an old man in what feels like a single day. I like Genetic Opportunity but it has a lot of cliches and not much emotional payoff. Meanwhile "The Visitor" makes me cry every time I watch it. One of my favorite episodes of television.

Well it's not just one single thing I guess, most of the things that would fill people with existential dread fill me with a sense of wonder, things like the vastness of the universe and our place in it, I chose a purpose for myself so I rarely feel lost in life, and I grew up religious so I little bit of spirituality and faith definitely helps, I guess overall I learned to see beauty in things and embrace most of the chaos life throws at me, to varying degrees of success. What does make me feel existential are strangely the little things, human connection and how fickle it can be, how quickly the world can pass you by, how unfair life can be, stuff like that. I've lived a sheltered life up until this point so I didn't experience a lot of these things, but I'll have to face the world soon enough and its a bit daunting.

In addition to the reviewer saying there was a steep drop-off near the rest stop, he specifically said that he would've fallen over it if someone/something lunged at him. I think when/if Fiona went back, she didn't just slip- she encounter colt's ghost/ the red thing, and it lunged at her/pushed her off the cliff.

at 22:30 I would like to actually argue that the lack of caring about the time warps is an effect of the drug. I think they are trying to show that at first he was worried about these things until he reaches an irrational state of calm surrounding the idea, then actually begins losing time without realizing or being able to bring on a care in the world. I think the artist of this was a little smarter honestly than just throwing in the dumbness of Derrick, it feels like there is an actual point to that. That its meant to be making him like this.

On my last assignment I had to do as I was finishing high school we had to do a presentation on a conspiracy theory of our choosing, I knew that I had already done well enough to get a good grade so I took the opportunity to present the most absurd PowerPoint presentation of how Jews were presented in the movie Borat as shapeshifting demons, I even had the scene from the movie where they freak out at a bed and breakfast run by a nice old Jewish couple and run screaming from the house in the middle of the night which I presented as found footage. I somehow got a B+.

That required research, and I hate doing research, so I wrote a descriptive account of humans first landing on Mars; an event in the future from the perspective of someone even further in the future who time-travelled back to see it. IIRC, I only got in trouble because I had too much dialog (between the narrator and his AI companion). I was quite descriptive, and since that was the point of the assignment, the teacher couldn't do anything.

I've only watched the first story but I have to say-This is literally narcolepsy. I have severe narcolepsy, and that sort of thing can happen a lot. Hypnogogic dreams are a side effect of narcolepsy, and they are particularly scary because for whatever reason they are indistinguishable from reality. I have had moments during work where I have started to fall asleep, but then began to have a hypnogogic hallucination that was just a continuation of my normal work day, and eventually things spiral out of control before I wake up and only 3 minutes have passed. I have even dreamed entire normal days before, only to wake up and realize that that day never happened
I have that happen to me all the time. No one ever believes me. Like my alarm will go off and wake me up. Then somehow I fall back asleep, but in my dream I get up, get ready for work, and get through like half of a work day before I wake up and realize I'm still in bed and now I've overslept. I didn't know it was connected to narcolepsy, and I don't believe I have narcolepsy. I thought I was the only one who experienced this

A lot of times lately the dreams are less reality-based, but I go to the same places in the dream most times, and tend to do the same or similar things every time I sleep. Honestly I much prefer the idea of the taxidermy heron being controlled by its own spirit, rather than being possessed by a human ghost. Herons aren't aggressive birds (they're quite shy, and so small that they usually don't pose a threat to humans) but almost all animals will lash out in aggression if they feel cornered or confused, something which is amplified if the animal suddenly finds itself in an unfamiliar and disorienting environment. The concept of an animal ghost, confused and stressed due to a combination of an unfamiliar environment and an inability to grasp the nature of its situation, lashing out at neaby people or becoming outright aggressive is a really interesting concept to me.
I worked at a raptor rescue and got a Great Blue Heron that came in after getting stuck in razor wire. It was leagues beyond the hawks and eagles I was used to, it almost removed a workers eye and left a huge gash on her face, the only thing that saved her were her glasses. It would lash out if anyone got even close to it. They aren't aggressive, but the poor thing was injured and cornered and became hyper defensive.

There are actually a handful of birds that have teeth, mostly ones that hunt in the water which would fit the heron, though I don't know if the heron is one of them. Considering that geese are one of the birds with teeth, bird demon would still be a fitting description either way

Like you, I thought birds who hunt in water such as penguins had teeth, but it turns out penguins just have sharp ridges on their tongue and the roof of their mouth to grip food. Other birds have sharp protrusions attached to their beaks, but those are part of the beak and therefore not teeth. Although I didn't find a decisive answer during my brief look into it, it seems like herons don't have anything resembling teeth.

I had a friend I grew up with, she had a friend who was kind of a tag along. I didn't notice at first but she got more and more clingy onto me. My friend was making fun of me then one day she got real serious and told me that tag along girl was telling her about how the two of us went out one night and long story short she was pregnant with my baby. Absolutely none of that was true and my friend knew that but was so disturbed by her rambling story she didn't tell her she knew she was lying. Ended up telling her a "secret" that I was gay but not to tell anyone because I and my fictitious boyfriend weren't out to our family. Been 20 years, I ran into her at the store about a year back, I was with my 2 kids, had to hold back laughing the whole time I talked to her.

As someone who experiences hypnagogic dreams, I will say that they're absolutely horrifying. They usually consist of hordes of bugs and spiders crawling up the walls and ceilings or shadow people a couple feet away from the bed and sometimes in front of my face. In one instance a spider the size of a dog fell from the ceiling and caused me to jump out of bed screaming, waking up my mom and having her find me crying and trying to find the spider that suddenly disappeared. The one that really shook me to my core happened some time last year. I woke up around 1-2am to a man saying "you should leave". I didn't process it right away, but when I looked over I found a man, wearing a deer head (very similar to Briarhearts from Skyrim, best way I can explain it). This didn't freak me out yet and he said "you should get up". Without thinking, I responded "okay", got up, went downstairs and sat on the couch for a few minutes before realising what just happened. I went back upstairs, shaking and unsure of what to do if there really was a stranger in my bed, I opened my bedroom door to find no one was there. Took me a couple hours to fall back asleep that night lol

It happened the first time when I was a kid after having a nightmare about a skeleton, I woke up and saw the skeleton in my doorway. It could be that Derek, rather than time warping in the TV entry, had his perception of time sped up. He's struggling because instead of experiencing things on a second by second basis, he's operating on day by day temporal perception. It's like how if you see a car go by, it's a blur. But when you're in the car, your perception of movement is different because you're moving with it.
Essentially, it's a story about a guy becoming a speedster, like the Flash. But unlike the Flash, Derek doesn't actually feel the passage of time, nor does he really get a grasp of how it operates. He essentially exists at 3X speed, while his perception and senses are lagging at 1/2 speed.

Deborah: is found dying in a bathroom holding the heron and her face brutally pecked

Pretty sure the last guy in that story witnessed her stabbing herself with the heron. So either she really was hallucinating and ended up doing that while it appeared to her like she was being attacked, or the thing possessing the heron only showed itself to her.
This is on the lvl of reddit Horror stories in which all the participants need to be brain dead otherwise the story couldn't happen.
This is a sign of an inexperienced writer, not saying it's bad, but this too tore me out of the story back when I originally engaged with it.

My interpretation of that is that the heron reanimating is, logically, impossible it just cannot happen.
But we believe it did, we’re reading a scary story on the internet so of course it happened.
At the end of the story the guy (Harry I think?) seems to be believing her somewhat in spite of himself because he knows that dead animals don’t just sneak around torment and kill people.
I think the actual unrealistic thing in that story is that Deborah still went to work there and that the cctv that was installed wasn’t pointed at the ONE THING IT WAS CLEARLY NEEDED FOR COME ON

its really sad as well, because it implies that regardless of the writer’s urges, he is unable to convince fiona to never go back to that cliffside. the fact that he sees her spirit in the very first place means that she WILL die there no matter what. it has to happen to validate their initial meeting. after all, if the writer did successfully prevent her return, then she never wouldve died there, never wouldve been bound, and he never wouldve seen her spirit in the first place in order to start this chain of events. its comparable (in my opinion) to the grandfather paradox.

The story doesn't seem to care about logical time-keeping, so I'd say that it's the latter. There's hope.
By the way, you're right on the money; it's not just comparable to the Grandfather Paradox, it _is_ the Grandfather Paradox. It's just phrased differently. Both can be expressed as the following: "Can you do action X to prevent event Y, when action X can only exist because of event Y?"

I found this one website that was full of horror stories. It was created a day before I had found it and I never found it after. I’m not even sure if it was real or just a really vivid dream. But the one story I truly remember was all about a serial killer who managed to never get caught and when he was older all the skeletons of the people he killed would slowly push through the floor or his house even after he moved multiple times and even after he moved to an apartment on the top floor of an apartment complex. They even started to come out of the walls. The guy ended up killing himself but was dug up after screams were coming from his coffin and he was found in the coffin “alive” and surrounded by skeletons that were clawing at his body. The entire coffin was sealed shut with many locks as well as metal and leather straps all around it and dumped into the Atlantic Ocean. While the crew was shipping it out they near constantly heard clawing from the coffin and after it was dumped one of the youngest crew members dove in after it and was never found again.

The second story about the guy losing awareness of his life and the traumatic events happening to him feels like being on antidepressants and stimulants sometimes, especially as a teenager. You're failing all your classes but you just can't feel the emotion to care, and life is speeding by you. You'll be 16 soon, but you feel like a toddler because you don't get out and do things, but it's hard to explain to anyone and all you're seen as is lazy when you're not all there sometimes and the days just seem to go by like minutes. This is currently what I go through and feel like him occasionally, but on a lesser scale, of course. It's all so confusing but you know you'll be worse off without your meds.

Yes, the antidepressant/stimulant combo is really good at doing that, and it often gets worse with time so if you can try to start combating it now that would be best. Mindfulness/meditation/surrounding awareness helped me, sometimes I just look at a clock and count the seconds to be in the moment. New experiences and traveling are fantastic but I understand that's really not feasible, but I wish you the best

Maybe this is what's making my anxiety with time worse. I take both and i constantly feel like I'm running out of time. I'm not failing any classes, it's mute like it seems like there's no assignments anymore and I'm just asking for the ride, wasting my time away by spacing out from my chem teacher's lecture and randomly doing state tests so my school can get more money.

Honestly, I think it’s because people raised in the 90’s are now almost all in their 30’s. So not only do the writers know how to tickle our fancy with nostalgia, but also are old enough to have honed storytelling and writing skills.
Not saying younger people can’t be good writers, but life experience can make for a more well rounded story about every day adult life, and not a teenager’s idea of what adult life is like.
Also not saying that older people can’t be good writers, but there can be a disconnect in culture and values when writers and readers aren’t the same age…

You are right. Since the popularisation of internet, some authors have been experimenting with "Interactive Literature". I studied it during my degree and master's and it's becoming popular among teachers, because it's a good tool to teach certain contents and skills. And I also agree with you, this kind of literature it's perfect for horror and mystery genres.

those reactions are not to far off, when it starts. only when you are told you do it you kinda realise whats happening. there is no conception in yourself that time can and would move in that way. i was losing about half a day some times before i was told. you really go from "well lunchtime....... o its dinner time, must have looked at the time wrong.... how did i get home, o yeah by bike" your mind is so confused it will fill in the gaps for you.

I immediately thought the stalker had finally found then killed Steve. Her final entry sounds like a poor attempt to deter suspicion and push the idea of a suicide. The details are even more rushed and illogical than usual. Especially when she mentions the way his eyes looked staring up blankly in death. Sounded like she was up close and personal and haunted by the image. And the vague way she describes his friends. The way she reflects on his sudden death sounds off for a suicide and more like a person shocked from what they just did and scrambling to say things that sound like she’s innocent. Which is some excellent writing especially if that was the intent
18:20 If anyone wants to experience a story similar to Genetic Opportunity that takes itself more seriously, there's an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 called "The Visitor" (S4E3) where Captain Sisko is caught in a time portal that only lets him out to live his life for a few hours per decade. As such, he sees his son grow from a teenager to an old man in what feels like a single day.
I like Genetic Opportunity but it has a lot of cliches and not much emotional payoff. Meanwhile "The Visitor" makes me cry every time I watch it. One of my favorite episodes of television.

Well it's not just one single thing I guess, most of the things that would fill people with existential dread fill me with a sense of wonder, things like the vastness of the universe and our place in it, I chose a purpose for myself so I rarely feel lost in life, and I grew up religious so I little bit of spirituality and faith definitely helps, I guess overall I learned to see beauty in things and embrace most of the chaos life throws at me, to varying degrees of success.
What does make me feel existential are strangely the little things, human connection and how fickle it can be, how quickly the world can pass you by, how unfair life can be, stuff like that.
I've lived a sheltered life up until this point so I didn't experience a lot of these things, but I'll have to face the world soon enough and its a bit daunting.

Have you listened to any of The Magnus Archives? It's an anthology that later becomes a full narrative, but the ways it plays with fear as a tangible force, the concepts of fear itself being this ouroboros snake , are super cool and worth diving into

i listened to a few episodes a while back and the angler fish one stuck with me so much omg
“Longing for something greater” is honestly the best story I’ve ever heard. I can’t explain why it gets me so bad but I get goosebumps and a tear in my eye whenever I hear it.

In addition to the reviewer saying there was a steep drop-off near the rest stop, he specifically said that he would've fallen over it if someone/something lunged at him. I think when/if Fiona went back, she didn't just slip- she encounter colt's ghost/ the red thing, and it lunged at her/pushed her off the cliff.

I had to pause the video a few times because I couldn’t breathe from laughing
at 22:30 I would like to actually argue that the lack of caring about the time warps is an effect of the drug. I think they are trying to show that at first he was worried about these things until he reaches an irrational state of calm surrounding the idea, then actually begins losing time without realizing or being able to bring on a care in the world. I think the artist of this was a little smarter honestly than just throwing in the dumbness of Derrick, it feels like there is an actual point to that. That its meant to be making him like this.
