"Nothing is worth the risk", feels a lot like how many people refuse to mess with Ouija Boards or rituals or supposed haunted places. Even if they don't believe in ghosts or demons...it's just not worth the risk.
my mom essentially drilled it into my head from the time i was little to not fuck with ouija boards. i still refuse to use one to this day. i've also seen many horror movies involve them. no thanks
@@freddiefreakedit Honestly, it isn't Ouija you should be scared of, it should be the Jinx curse. Too many times have I've seen someone say something as asinine as, "Wel, my day couldn't possible go bad." and like, 2 hours later get a call about how their grandmother died.
@@mediocrebeans4228 It's a boardgame by hasbro and if you're afraid of demons you might as well carry around a pocketful of salt to throw over your shoulder and tiptoe where-ever you walk so you never risk stepping on a crack in the pavement.
As a Christian myself, the very thought of coming face to face with a demon from hell, and to not be able to pray for help from Christ since a similar entity has overthrown and essentially replaced Christ, and now is on the other end of the line holding the phone, is absolutely terrifying and my testimony to the effectiveness of the horror of this series. Well done Alex
@D990990990 I'm a Christian fan of the Mandela Catalog too. My thoughts exactly. An alternate universe where God is overthrown and these entities very similar to demons are just screwing with humanity for funsies is a horriyfing and intriguing idea!
@@ilovemalaysiaTbh after being raised southern baptist it's kinda hard to go back to loving the Christian God after that. Lotta trauma. The sect i was in didn't even believe in evolution.... Still not atheist tho lol. Decided to just make up my own religion. Can't be bothered to participate in the organized religions wars rn.
Another extremely small detail is that in the phone call between Adam/Jonah and the “cat lady”, Jonah says “we can come tonight” and the lady says “can you do three?” This implies that the caller was an alternate who accidentally comprehended “tonight” as “two night”
1:16:19 this is honestly my favourite moment in the entire series. 'Who have i been praying to' is such a powerful line, and the sheer existential terror it expresses is a perfect summation of the Mandela Catalogue
Fun fact: most characters in this story are named after biblical characters famous for committing a sin that deserved Gods wrath. Just some food for thought.
@@babygurleatsshickennuggits4201 I mean on the outside context yeah it does seem like that but on context god does stop even if it's after weeks ,days ,months or possibly years but it stops, especially when the wrongdoing or sin is acknowledged , he is fair when it comes to acknowledgement, regret, repent and forgiveness but on the case of demons they'd love to drag you into another huge wrath eternally and constantly without any escape or acknowledgement of regret, there's literally no stopping to it no matter what and no amount of begging will ever let you out of that suffering-
I really hope Adam's story ends up becoming a "nature vs nurture" narrative. yes he's a alternate, a demon, a part of the villians of the story, but he was raised human and was loved by his friends. can't wait too see how episode 5 goes down.
@@HavingCrumpets eh, there has to be SOMETHING that can make you hope for something beyond "god's dead, the devil won" if you want to continue the series.
@@denkerbosu3551 Agreed. When the viewers already know that there's nothing you can do, there's no more stakes. I can't be invested if there is 0% chance of winning. To keep viewers engaged, you want them to at least hope the person will make it out somehow.
my toxic trait is thinking i could beat MAD knowing damn well the slightest inconvenience makes me question if living is worth it, let alone psychological warfare
"Who have i been praying to" Im an atheist. I am not religious at all. But that sentence is the most horrifying concept ive ever heard. It sent literal shivers up my spine when i first really contemplated it.
Absolutely.. prayer is supposed to be a sacred, inner comfort. Opening and offering whats in your heart to a ultimate protector and guide. The most intimate interaction i can imagine. The feeling of that being "invaded" is so disturbing! Also not a religious man but that shook me up really good..
I...dont get why this is horrifying? are you guys actually not religious or just saying that? I genuinely am struggling to understand why any of this is actually scary. Its very intriguing to me, but i literally get 0 fear out of it. I feel like this must be a religious thing related to being raised in religious america or something, because as someone who has never even been raised around christians, I just dont get the fear part of it.
@@nanonano2595you don’t have to be religious to understand why it’s scary and dreadful…it’s a betrayal..that guy in his time of most fear chose to put all his faith in his last resort..god only to feel abandoned by his god in the moment he needed divine help the most…that bone chilling line is actually referencing the “god” he was praying too really was an alternate or satan the whole time bro how is that not scary???? they never ever had a chance ..

UA-cam lets a guy get completely naked, and shave his body parts, and actually a lot more stuff id rather not mention, talk about the most weird things, But don't let people talk about touchy subjects such as things in this video. Great platform.
I find it hilarious that Adam comes face to face with these horrifying creatures beyond human comprehension, trying to tempt him and he's just like "yeah, not interested"
@@Nick_308 yeah.. it's pretty funny that you have to beep* words like suicide in video about suicide. If the word is so scary if must be censored then why would you watch the suicide video in the first place. Amazes me

@@jamesbates5901 the whole story could be told through the perspective of a person with schizophrenia. A lot of the mythos is based on symptoms of a schizophrenic
If I had a nickel for every time a character who was intentionally named Adam for religious symbolism reasons was unknowingly a sleeper agent who was switched with the "real" Adam as a baby and put into the world to help demonic forces bring about the downfall of humanity, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
Could end up being even better if Adam ends up being a “nature vs nurture” story as others have suggested and he ends up still being a heroic/good character, then you can tack on “…. who ends up being good actually and saving the day” to that
Reminder; Alternates can't hurt you if you show no fear. The next time one breaks in grab the Fent and the 9 and turn your studio apartment into a John Wick fight scene in a club
So basically, if you show fear they can (and will) hurt you directly, like a "normal" horror monster If you ignore them and have no fear somehow, they can still tell you "truths" that will make you oof yourself, but you can still power thought by seeking to learn that info more in detail But then..what? do they just chill in the background as they speak in tounges and each time you have to do homework for that info to not go mad/get scared? would they not hurt you but physically cause your issues (like not letting you leave the room by blocking it with their body)... Do they just leave because you are too stubborn and go annoy someone else? and what about other areas of the world? for what i understand everything so far was just on this county of mandela, wouldn't it be more effective for hell to try this on a place like china? 1 week and they have millions. i love this series.
If you have noise cancelling headphones does that mean you’re technically immune to their psychological methods? Like imagine you just go like nanana booboo I can’t hear you and they get annoyed and leave
Honestly the scariest part about the Mandela catalog for me was when I was home alone at night and the intruder at the end of volume 1 appeared and my dog looked at it for as long as it was onscreen then looked at me then walked over to the hallway and stared down it tbh I was worried
Dogs do some creepy shit when you're alone with them if you pay attention. Staring at things you can't see and stuff. I'm not convinced they aren't able to see/smell/sense things we can't, their senses are way more fine tuned than humans are.
i love the idea that Alternates have overdriven or flawed assimilations, very much like how AI cannot completely capture a human’s likeness just yet. a very modern horror idea 😵💫
Also, in the Bible, God is said to have made mankind "in his (own) image and likeness" So it'd make sense that the Mandela demons struggle to perfectly re-create the human form, maybe because they lack the power to, or they are repelled by the likeness of God in human forms, or they create warped images so in mockery of God and his creations
my personal belief on the "crowd" of people outside mark's room is that the alternates are trying to simulate conversation, a commotion, in an attempt to make it seem like they have left, and regular people are back in the home, and they're hoping to lure him out to see who all is speaking outside his room.
What's always fucked me up the most about the original episode is that "Kill Yourself - There's not enough room for the two of us" isn't the real "K" in the THINK principle. "Know your place in reality" is.
I still love how much flipped allegory is stuffed into this story. Especially the Adam and Eve story. Both receive forbidden knowledge in the form of MAD and thus both are kicked from their “normal” lives and tossed into turmoil, but instead of Eve being tempted by the snake first it is Adam being tempting by the intruder. And instead of Eve convincing Adam to eat the fruit Adam is the one to tell Eve something she “wished she never heard.”
God, imagine just chilling and going for a walk and some inhuman looking being fades into existence and tells you knowledge that no human being should ever hear then throws up a peace sign and fades out of existence, like dawg I was just chilling 😭😭
53:53 I just realized, Adam was interested in the scream because he’s an alternate. Just like he later revealed, human fear either activates or entices alternates.
1:16:40 "my eyes are wide open" is especially scary because somewhere near the start in one of the police warning things they say that if you know its staring at you to keep your eyes closed .. so he gives up
While I don't doubt that line has additional implications, Alex himself said in an interview with Wendigoon that the line, "Avoid opening your eyes when you are certain that the man in the corner is in fact now inches away from your face, watching" is just a teaser for the big spook in volume 2.
IM SCAAAAAAARED BROOOOOOO its 4 AM and i have a midterm in a couple of hours why did i think this would be a good idea i dont even have snacks around me this is so sad
To this day my worst nightmare is to be trapped in my room, no one coming to get me with a monstrosity outside my door that sounds like THAT. The horror of this situation is why I regard vol 1 as the best volume, and one of the best pieces of horror media I have watched. There aren't many other horror movies films that make me develop a genuine fear of a specific situation.
@@Arceus-0-Did his room even have windows? Even so idk if that would work. There are clearly other alternates around. Another possibility issue is that the alternates can sense fear. If the fear suddenly disappears then the alternate could probably tell and would come after you.

Around 2:03:00 in the video, When Adam is on the phone with Evelyn, He tells her things that she wishes she had never heard. In other words, She was given information that was not desired to be known.
The first time I watched that part of that video, I was half-asleep, but I heard that and immediately jotted down that connection in my notes app. So I'm glad to see someone else notice that!
As a non-religious person, i also find the idea of the Lord being replaced by Lucifer absolutely horrifying. Edit: bro this comment is so generic how did it get this many likes??? Extra Edit: What's up with the war in the comments???
I think that's the beatifull part of Alexis storytelling. I'd consider myself pretty religious but he chooses such a guttural horrifying topic that it reaches to anybody in any position their in in the exact same way
Imagine being one of those alternates that don't know they're alternates and instead thinking that you're just autistic only to find out that no, the reason why you're so different from other people is because you're an otherworldly demonic eldritch horror😭
I just remember from the first video.. that redactions are placed over the bodies of suicide victims, and Gabriel’s face is redacted, more than likely meaning the angel killed himself when confronted with his alternate. ☹️ horrifying
lol I'm 110% positive that an angel did not commit suicide. Redactions are used to hide information or imagery you don't want seen. Redactions do not equate to evidence of a suicide in this series.
1:13:30 I actually find the idea of a crowd of demons outside Mark’s door having casual conversation like intermission at a show kinda hilarious. Like… “Oh hey Bob, didn’t think I’d see you here. Get a load of this guy eh? Think he’s gonna open the door tonight? I hope so, I’ve had these tickets for months! Anyway, how’s the wife and kids?” ”Ahh y’know, I wanted to bring my youngest here with me, but the Mrs started nagging me about how it’s ‘too early’ and ‘bad for his development’ yaddayaddayadda. Ya believe that crap? I was in diapers when I watched my old man torture his first soul and look at me, I turned out just fine! I tell ya, kids these days are too soft.”
It's actually funny to consider the tickets thing because Mark was a target since he was 4. Imagine setting up an alternate encounter like it's a movie showing.
Knowing the Cesar was dead the whole time and the entity perfectly acting like Cesar to manipulate marks and to lead him to his death as well is low key scary asf

I don’t think Mandela Catalogue has a good/deep enough plot to deserve a movie. It works as a UA-cam analog horror series, let’s just enjoy it for that.
@@waido_I wouldn't say it doesn't have enough, look hiw shallow most horror movies are. You don't need deep lore. Like hellraiser and those horror movies that have 7 plus seqauls are the only ones with deep lore and the Lore usually feel so shoe horned. But that being said, it being on UA-cam and made on A budget adds so much charm and makes it way more terrifying. Not saying there aren't horror movies that are lore heavy, I'm just saying it's not needed to make it to theaters.
@@waido_I mean think a lit it, you. Could easily turn this into a movie. Everything introduced is lore in the Mandela effect, movies just have a lot more filler. Regardless, I don't want a movie. I'd prefer the lore dense shorter UA-cam videos.
Ya know, I can't help but laugh. Alex (the creator of this fine series, of course), to me anyway, took the movie Little Nicky and twisted it to be spooky. (If you don't know the movie, it's basically about a "creation" or finish project from a session where a demon (Satan) and an angel um, "got it on". The movie stars...ahem, ADAM Sandler. (Worst movie I ever sat half way through of).
1:38:07 I think it's kinda funny that Adam was lured to the basement by the sound of a cat meowing, and the thing that he encounters down there is revealed to be a nun, because it kinda reminds me of that incident of mass hysteria where a bunch of nuns started meowing for a while
@@DewyTantrum there was a nun at a convent that started meowing so much that it caught on, the rest of the nuns started doing it until the people in town got freaked out and the constabulary told them to stop lmao
Assuming the law is also aware alternates can mimic voice the line “don’t let them know your fear” probably relates to the idea that the caller themselves could be the alternate
I'll never forget when me and my two friends got together late one night and decided to watch the first Mandela catalogue video you made, and halfway through we all got so scared that we stopped watching it and put on cartoons instead. We're all in our twenties 💀

What I love about the Christianity influences on the series, is that by some, it is believed that before the apocalypse the devil is going to pretend to be the Christ and perform miracles in order to deceive the humans. Basically I was hearing this tale, and it's like the series pose the question: "but what if it already happened?" Gives me chills and whether the creator took inspiration from that or not, the series have amazing story building. A truly magnificent ARG.
Yes, he will be the Anti-Christ. He will be a world leader of some sort that will perform miracles just like Jesus did when he came to Earth. However, the Anti-Christ will be doing it to deceive many people when it is time to enforce the "mark of the beast" among all nations. "It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation."(Revelation 13:7).
The fact that you can't mention suicide on UA-cam makes me think of Korean Fan Death. It was such a taboo to mention suicide in 1970s-2000s Korea that the police wouldn't even report it, and they would cover it up by saying they were killed by sleeping with the fan on.
Actually, I think Adam removing Jonah from his contacts may not be because he's cold, but so that intruders wouldn't get to him through the Jonah's identity. Also - his body may not've been around the car anymore, since we see alternates mess with dead bodies in the series
I think his apathy is because he’s been an alternate all this time (confirmed in a recent video I’m pretty sure) and bro just sucks at mimicking human emotions like empathy. (He wasn’t aware of this for years)
@@wilburforce8046 I get he's an alternate but I feel like there is a real Adam somewhere. I think that the intruder possessed Adam as a child. So the real Adam is still there as well just not in control. He's an overdriven alternate. I think Thatcher will in the end exercise the intruder from Adam some how.
Adam’s story so far is kind of perfect. Human beings are selfish and independent with their own thoughts and emotions and desires, for better or worse. They took a tool and told it to mimic individuality and then they’re surprised that, when they try to use it, that tool says no.

the idea of 30:28 is absolutely horrifying, imagine being faced with the most dangerous thing in the world currently, its right in front of your face, yet you have to pretend like youre asleep completely blind to what it will do to you. just for the chance it doesnt kill you
Well I mean, if an Demon had copied and basically taken over your religion, and pretended to be one thing that tiea it all together: you'd be having a existential crisis too.
The way Wendi always compares something slightly confusing to something you know very well and just instantly makes it make sense is amazing fr, such a minor thing to most but alot of people dont do it
Another thing is that if you remember, mark was being haunted/ stalked by (presumably) the same alternate when he was naught but 4 YEARS OLD. so these alternates are able to and willing to follow an individual for years on end to get them to kill themselves. This makes the whole TV thing even scarier, because some people might not even be fully hunted down and targeted by alternates till years after their experience with a TV screen image.

Bro, Wendi, ain’t no way. I was rewatching all your Mandela catalogue videos today, because the oldest view stream made me wanna revisit. I open the app right now to continue watching AND ENCOUNTER THIS GEM. Thank you for making this especially for me personally. Best dad ever!
To this day, after watching this particular series of videos several times lol, nothing chills me more than what happens to Mark in the first few videos. Not even the bigger connection with his children's book but the way it says "Nobody came for me" and the intimacy when he says "It followed me home, Ceasar." Like he trusted his friend so much and the running up the camera after he shoots himself like omg. Literally makes me queasy
If Adam is an alternate and said things to Evelyn that she 'didn't want to hear' during the breakup, is it possible that the things she didn't want to hear could be 'forbidden knowledge'? And if that's the case and she was 'fine', in the sense of not being overcome by an alternate/M.A.D, then she might be like Thatcher and is capable of fighting back against the invasion.
Scary/creepy stuff typically doesn't bother me, but I decided to listen to this while at work and suddenly I'm a little scared of the dark. I work the night shift at a hospital...alone... just me and whatever lurks in the shadows of the hallway illuminated red by the exit sign.
I spent a lot of time as a kiddo in hospitals. Them is one of the scariest places ever, particularly at night. During that one hour, if you have seen it, you know that one hour. When it's quiet as death and also the noise never stops.
@@jessnotmylastname8955 For me, that hour is typically around 3-4am (currently during that hour right now lol). Usually there is nothing much for me to do, and for some reason, that's when a lot of faxes get sent over so the fax machine will randomly just start ringing. That is also right before I start doing things for 6am, so I am the most tired and a little more susceptible to the creepy things
used to work nights at a cancer center and now a school and it really is creepy. hives a very liminal space vibe because of how eerily empty these usually bustling spaces are and every weird pipe sound or ac kicking on noise ends up hella creepy lol
I thought when Cesar's friend was trapped by the alternate that it was making noise that sounded like other people in an attempt to lure him out. But the idea that several alternates are just hanging out keeping him in there is just as awful
I absolutely adore the Changeling-esque nature of the whole kidnapped children, and the general discussion of nature vs nurture. Adam was and still is a demon, yet if he was grown a human, acts as a human, feels as a human, dosent thst mean that, atleast a little bit, he is human, one way or the other?
i mean, when you ask people "what does it mean to be human", most people will bring up the mental, internal experience of being human. to love, to lose, to know one's limits, and so forth. As far as I'm concerned? He's as human as me.
PLS DO ANOTHER VID ON THIS ON THE NEW EPISODES! ur the only one that i like listening to in the backround and im so excited to see how you interpret the new volumes!!!
Can I tell you how grateful I am for this? My daughter brought this Mandela Catalog out for me to watch and I couldn't because a lot of the imagery matches up with hallucinations I have. Being able to listen to you talk about it was awesome because I could know what was going on without being triggered into hallucinations.
Breh why tf is your daughter making you watch analog horror on Yt knowing you already have hallucinations? Is she trying to make you lose your mind complety or smth the fuck 😢
do you know if during the cutscenes you can hear the oririnal sounds of the video or does wendigoon talk over them? i would want to listen to the video too but i have severe reactions to imagery as well as scary sounds and music. thank you!
Adam not seeming to have empathy towards Jonah and other people makes a lot of sense considering he’s a demon. He may care about them to a small extent, but at his very core he has a lot of difficulty having a deep connection with humans because it’s in his nature to not love them. The only humans he held a deep connection with was his mom and dad during his infancy, before he was taken by the intruder and changed into an alternate. He grew up as a demon with no real ability to love or show compassion. So it wouldn’t really make sense if he acted distraught over Jonah’s passing. Edit: okay, so Adam never grew up as a demon. There’s a lot about Adam’s existence as an alternate that hasn’t been explained and I’m sure as the series progresses we’ll get to see more glimpses into what his life was like, but I just wanted to correct what I said about Adam being a demon child lmao. The real Adam has been dead. That nun alternate was him from the get go.
@@viniciusdeoliveira5869 so what you mean is that he never “grew up”, he just popped back into the world at some point in the form of what he is now? If I’m getting that right, that is indeed really creepy. I just thought he was taken, unalived, the demon took over, and he was returned as an infant, much like old folklore about changelings.
Just wanted to say thank you and well done for the videos you make, especially deep dives like this one. For me, actually watching horror would not be healthy, so I've always avoided it, but your videos have really got me interested in the genre and horror is now something that brings me a lot of happiness. Plus your videos are just really cool. So thanks for introducing me :)
The whole idea of calling a religious deity a "Shepherd" is really interesting to me because it could be seen in two different ways, that being a Shepherd who is a leader that tends to and ensures the safety of their sheep or alternative could be seen as a leader who only cares for himself and will only care for his sheep to lead them to slaughter. Maybe there are two Shepherd's in this story, maybe Satan is just God's alternate. It would make sense as all Satan tries to do is corrupt and copy God's creations, an ultimate mockery of God may be to take on his image and do evil in his name.
Funnily enough, Wendigoon says something similar and the end of his Faith analysis. How Satanic symbolism is just a mockery of already existing Christian symbols and concepts
Idk if this is considered analogue horror, but this and then the monuments series is the type of horror than genuinely makes me want to crawl out of my skin. Gore? Fine. Demon possession? Awesome. Uncanny tapes? I will be crying myself to sleep tonight.
gore and possession are stereotypes at this point, but to see a format you grew up with manipulated like this is,,, oh no. like i remember using VHS tapes as a kid - i only remember them really falling off around maybe 06, and if you had a player still in good shape and a stockpile of cassettes, like we did, and especially if you had another kid on the way and you have some Sesame Street, Blues Clues, etc tapes from the older kid(s) that arent ruined by overplaying yet, there isnt much point in just tossing them. hell, i still have a bunch of DVDs! remember dvds? sure you can get the same movies on streaming services -(or just pirating)- but it's just not the same - not having to pay by the month and in turn having to skip through a billion ads just to get to the disc menu. and oh my god the dvd games?? so, in conclusion, analog horror is scarier than conventional/mainstream horror because youre /familiar/ with the format, youre /familiar/ with how it works, and the body of tropes/narrative devices hasnt been fully catalogued (haha) yet let alone overdone a hundred times over
There is something about the monument mythos that took me back to TRUE estoteric shit. Stuff the vatican banned as heresy, golems, and the grimoir verum, spells to summon demons, and then it tied in with spiritual shit too. It was just... a whole experience that wasn't just an arg or analog horror.
@@HungerGamesFan00 no fr Bc I was born in 05 but I lived with my grandparents when I was younger so I did watch a lot of vhs tapes so analogue horror fucks me up bc I associate it with my grandparents it’s terrifying
Monument mythos season 1 and 2 are peak but post nixon verse kinda lost me. The current series is kind of restoring the feel of the og 2 seasons though.
Those two eyes in the video with the camera setup in the house was actually incredibly disturbing to me, more than the face after or the victims corpse being tampered with.
i genuinely love the horror genre, but i've tried to watch your videos on this series multiple times and I can't watch for more than 20 minutes at a time without feeling such deep dread and chills. the whole uncanny valley faces make my brain and body react in the weirdest way. Like i genuinely love the story line and the creativity of the creator is insane but i just cant do it 💀
19:38 Going to be honest, of all the moments in this series, I agree that the Gabriel distortion after the "I know what you love. I know what you dread." gave me chills and stuck for a while. What makes this scare work particularly well is that you start with a censored face, one you aren't supposed to look at. But that is thrown away and lets you look upon it, an actual angel that knows you, before showing its true nature. It's a woven scare of things that make you uncomfortable from something you feel is unnatural, from something based in spirituality of human faith. It's frightening from both the point of a religious, and non-religious perspective. You are faced with a deity you either did or didn't believe in, that you would rather not see the face of or listen to its words, but now you have to live with the existence of.
Man it’s a shame the website got closed, it was so cool and it could have added some role or arg content to the series with it. r.i.p. Mandela police site
Wendigoon is LITERALLY the only youtuber i can watch a over 1 hour video on without skipping or switching the video, i dont know how he does it but, great job dude!
One theory I have about alternates is that they're physically weaker compared to their human counterparts. Whenever the alternates are shown to attack is when the target is either broken mentally or in a position where they can't physically defend themselves. Mark was tormented until he took his own life. Ceaser probably fell victim to the alternate because he was distracted by the sound of his injures mother. And Jonah was attacked in the car, a tight place while Jonah was already in an emotional state. The alternate of officer Davis didn't kill him, but used intimidation to avoid a physical conflict. And Davis gets tormented by the other alternates so that his mental state is more unstable and he is going to put up less of a fight. From what I've seen, the alternates use intimidation, psychological warfare and ambush attacks because they're aware that they could win against their target in a physical fight. Which is also probably why they want Adam on their side. Since he is shown to not fear the alternates. So he would be a huge liability.
True but didn’t they get shot at already and they don’t die, as well as they can exist without a physical form then have a physical form after taking over a body meaning if the physical body somehow dies they still have a soul that goes somewhere ?
@@jandiqar But a character doesn't need to be physically powerful to win a fight if they're relentless and can't take damage. No matter how little damage you can dish out, if you can keep it up nonstop without having to worry about your own safety, eventually you will overwhelm and kill the other guy.

I really do love the way the Stanley/alternate mass thing talks about taking Adam. The way it speaks about him sounds loving and honest, like Adam is its own son. The dichotomy of something both fundamentally deceptive and too simplistic to lie is absolutely terrifying to me.

Yeah I think UA-cam is going way extra with it due to cyber bullying events, specifically with people being told to off themselves. Where planning to off others has been less of an issue in the past on UA-cam. I understand why they don’t like that word but I think there should be a better screening for these things so that you’re not getting demonetized over sensitive subjects simply being mentioned in regards to storytelling.
I’m gonna be real, alternates being “the devil” is a lot less scary than the idea that they’re genuinely “angels” and in fact everything we’ve ever believed in has all been service of a god who is truly incomprehensible in the most terrifying way, bringing new meaning to the phrase god-fearing
Honestly that trope is both exhaustingly overdone and massively overrated. Just like "evil Superman". It misses the entire point of the character, and the idea He represents.
1:14:28 This is also one of my absolute FAVOURITE things about this series. Because I always imagine how different people would interact with it, but specifically how would a Homeless person deal with this? Like, technically the same rules would apply. What if you don't have a house and the benefit of a door and four walls, but a cardboard box that you've flipped over on top of you, your bean bag and a few cans of food to hold you out while the armies of demons stand outside trying to figure out how to lure you out, but every "I don't know how to get him out" or "I don't know how to mimic very well" Only drives you to hold down the flaps of your cardboard box tighter and harder. I need to see how the homeless of this world interact with this rule!
It's so funny imagining a demonic alternate trying to convince a homeless person to kill himself like he doesn't hear those insults on the daily, this is literally stoicism in its rawest form
Homeless ppl are immune because the alternates don’t want to steal the life of someone with no home 😆 like in zombie stories where the terminally ill are ignored by the infected, but this time on a financial level
Yeah first time I watched this, I was working my shift as a night audit at a hotel. Part of my job is to make sure the 16 supply closets are locked in the four separate buildings. I had never been so paranoid lol. Every noise had me buggin lol.

The first episode is so compelling for Christians because Alex can tear into the fear that all we hold dear is a lie by an evil being that has possibly destroyed god, who we hold as all-powerful. The sense of helplessness this episode creates is terrifying.
It's so terrifying to imagine that you've been praying to a God who can't hear you. Same with the idea of _you_ essentially being a child of your greatest enemy. "You are not you" freaks me out

Now that's some scary stuff
Dogs do some creepy shit when you're alone with them if you pay attention.

It’s only a matter of time before they perfect their imitations of us…🥲
Also, in the Bible, God is said to have made mankind "in his (own) image and likeness"
So it'd make sense that the Mandela demons struggle to perfectly re-create the human form, maybe because they lack the power to, or they are repelled by the likeness of God in human forms, or they create warped images so in mockery of God and his creations

my personal belief on the "crowd" of people outside mark's room is that the alternates are trying to simulate conversation, a commotion, in an attempt to make it seem like they have left, and regular people are back in the home, and they're hoping to lure him out to see who all is speaking outside his room.

@@waido_I wouldn't say it doesn't have enough, look hiw shallow most horror movies are. You don't need deep lore. What I love about the Christianity influences on the series, is that by some, it is believed that before the apocalypse the devil is going to pretend to be the Christ and perform miracles in order to deceive the humans. Basically I was hearing this tale, and it's like the series pose the question: "but what if it already happened?"
Gives me chills and whether the creator took inspiration from that or not, the series have amazing story building.
It's actually commander Sheppard from mass effect

@@korikan5698I mean, just because they don't die doesn't mean they're physically powerful. Just means they're durable.

This "God is bad akhshually" has been done to death, 10000 times already, lol

This is also one of my absolute FAVOURITE things about this series.
All the homeless people are going to band together and destroy the alternates in a massive knife fight
@@goldalien2016 no fair when you been living on the streets for 5+ years, fricking bring it
It's so funny imagining a demonic alternate trying to convince a homeless person to kill himself like he doesn't hear those insults on the daily, this is literally stoicism in its rawest form
Homeless people should gather together and forming Hobo Army against alternates.
And build a cardboard fort.
Every noise had me buggin lol.
in my bathroom the mirror faces the door behind me and watching this while doing my nightly routine had me looking in the mirror at the crack in the door every 2 seconds idk why the idea of the false gabriel freaks me out so bad
@@luvcherry idk man kister is a genius at making stuff that is just flat out unnerving. It doesn't have to jump at you to be spooky it just sits and cooks and gets spookier.
Omg, i had a similar experience for 2 months when i was working the night shift at staples warehouse
@@Space_Roach nah bro warehouses be spooky asf when they're empty
@@isaacpeyton2646 it was busy but i still checked over my shoulder and avoid dark areas
"You are not you" freaks me out
That’s exactly why I hoped out of the series as soon a I saw Overthrown. Being able to experience it alongside a Christian content creator helped me get over it and become invested in the story. It’s just so dark.
Mf can overthrow god himself, but can’t open a cracked door
@@mammoneymeloni mean its not a horror concept, its basically reality. 😘
We are drug addicted monkeys alone in space.
Jesus may not love you but i sure do. (:
