2/5 NL @ Aria. Eff stacks $1300. 8 handed Hero opens 99 w/ 1 spade for $20 on HJ CO 3bets to $70 Hero calls Pot = $150 Flop 6s, 3s, 10h, Hero checks CO bets $50 Hero calls Pot = $250 Turn 4s Hero checks CO bets $100 Hero Raises $300 CO calls Pot = $850 River 5s Board = 6s, 3s, 10h, 4s, 5s, Hero checks CO bets $250 leaving $800+ behind Hero calls . . . . . . CO shows JJ with 1 spade After much thought after the fact, I decided that this river call was bad. I talked myself into calling because the price was not too much compared to the pot. Thought he could be turning AA or KK with no spade into a bluff. I normally wouldn't have check raised the turn, but I noticed this player tended to overplay the turn. I wish that I had actually check raised the river all in. I feel like I have many more combos of flushes compared to CO and I am more likely to have the 2 or 7 of spades. Even if the CO had the A of spades, it would have been a very tough spot for him.
No one will probably read this, but I just had a dream where I re-lived this hand, but I check raised the river. CO ended up tank calling and I lost. I think my brain is trying to convince me that I played it fine by not check raising river. This hand still haunts me!
