Thing is I didn’t like my own comments, and I’m not trying to be funny - I’m just telling you and the other guy that no one cares how “oh it was SOOO easy and he said it was hard - I’m soooo smart” coz I don’t care and I’m sure others dont
The problem with physical models is always that if you look close enough, you can see inconsistancies in the alignment because of the perspective and different deepness... especially with parts that have fixed measurements like Lego bricks... For example: the door - the left edge of the rear "pole" does not align to the middle of the studs 2 & 3 (counted from right) of the 1x8 brick. instead, if you extend the edge-line of the pole further up, it will go through the 1x8 brick right at the 2nd studs (from right) left edge On the paper the drawings look real, because you can arrange and cheat the perspective a little bit, and if you don't look close enough, you will hardly find the cheat if its well done.
I thought the extreme one was the easiest in my opinion. What i figured out is that since there are darker gray spots at the end of the light gray spots, that means it would be a gap, because stairs would be able to look like that unless there were ramps on the other side. What i figured out by that is that it's actually a flat surface, and based on the angle the photo was taken at, it looks like a staircase. The other thing i figured out is that the staircase is not going down, its actually tilting diagonally most likely using an IBT (Illegal building technique). And the guy at the bottom with the bright greenish skateboard is actually sticking to the side of the flat plane. If you want to figure it out yourself or find out the explanation here are timestamps. 12:3113:13
those last 4. i got stumped with the hard one and i was afraid i wasn't going to figure it out but i just did with one second remaining. i felt like the "hard" one was more difficult than the "extreme" one. awesome video though!
What helped me figure out the last one was focusing on the handrail. If you focus there, you can see that the railing is flat and coming towards the camera instead of bing aligned with the other railing.
On the extreme illusion you can tell the rail was turned a little forwards rather than downwards. Focus on the rotational position of claw peices that hold the rail, if it was going down steps they would all face the same direction, yet the ones on the step are rotated inwards a little bit. That's what kind of gave me a clue!
For the challenge I'm going to be honest. The first, second, and fourth are really easy, I got all those at first try. But the third I still don't get. LOL
I love optical illusions. I was able to figure out all the challenges in time, too! Perhaps not exactly for the hard one, but the concept seemed obvious enough. I love that stairs illusion.
The last one was a bit given away by the reflection of the skateboarder, it showed that it was flat along the beginning few bricks of each step which is where a camera trick could have been used. And the railing also shows that. If it was done with clever angles the reflections would be wrong.
Medium looks fake to me honestly, you can see that left of the right figure there's red 2x2 tiles siting on top of yellow bricks and then the image quality becomes all mushy and left of that you see yellow 2x2 tiles next to red bricks. There's just no brick that could've made that transition smooth with that lighting to my knowledge. Also idk why they did that when they could've just hidden the transition behind/below the right figure.
I wish this had been done so that someone would've taken the object into their hands and twisted it around so we could really see it go in and out of perspective.
I was only able to figure out the extreme one. And I did it in the first 10 seconds. After the previous 3 I had a good idea of where to look for hints.
On 9:05 I’m ngl, I had no idea what was that cool about the 4 Lego bricks but then after literally staring at it for a minute, the way I saw it changed and it blew my mind for just a simple design. I’m so slow💀
