Yeah. Printed parts are often more expensive on the second hand market. The main problem with stickers s that the glue can be bad, or that they're often attached askew.

Taking the legs apart is probably the only "illegal" technique here, and it's only illegal in the sense that they wouldn't be accepted as an official Lego set. But they're your own Lego; do what you like with them. Heck using 1x1 round studs as water actually shows up in an official Lego set (the ship in a bottle).

I’ve always found those eye pieces in all lego classic sets pretty useless

Guessing you haven't tried using them in Biblically Accurate Angel MOCs.
      Flying Spaghetti Monster works too.

I wish Lego Digital Designer still let you buy specific lego pieces from them so that you can make your 'dream' sets and then have them mailed to you. I did this once back when Lego Star Wars was still relatively new and I wanted a lego Droideka model that was made out of actual pieces, but I couldn't find any sets that sold them, so I made my own on LDD and had them sent to my house, where in I proceeded to lose all the pieces in like a week or two, because, ya know. Kid.
But now I need specific lego parts and colors for some builds I want to work on, but since LDD doesn't account for human hands, I can't bend or shape specific lego pieces into the way I normally. For instance. I tried to make a circular wall using 1x1 Cylinder pieces and 2x1 bricks to bend them in a slight curve until it made a circular wall. I was doing this for a specific modular piece that I wanted to make but in the process of doing so the end pieces wouldn't align properly. I thought it might've been because I was one row short, so I added another one. But then the hinge alignment tool glitched out, spammed all over the place and crashed before I had the chance to save what I'd do up to that point, so I just lost about 2-3 hours worth of progress.
I wish there was a lego store near me so I could just go there and buy the pieces I need because paying lots of money for specific lego sets JUST for part hunting is a pain in both my membrane and the wallet.
