A: no, it's just a realistic sound effect, sorry for that
When you "scrambled" it by taking it apart and putting it together randomly, there's a good chance it wasn't solvable due to parity. There's edge parity and corner parity. You have to swap corners in cycles of 3 assuming no edges are swapped, you have to swap edges in pairs of 2 and cannot flip just 1 edge. All corners must be turned in sets of 3 (all clockwise or all counterclockwise) as well. Feel free to reply if you have any questions.
A simple solution to the long scramble time may be to scramble a regular cube and then assemble this to match the layout, that way it's a legitimate scramble without taking forever
Also, that knock at 4:04 sounds EXACTLY like someone knocking on our glass door to our backyard which is ecxactly to my right. it TOTALLY freaked me out. lol
You have incredibly well developed spatial reasoning and engineering skills. The way that you identify problems, tinker, and prototype incrementally is all incredible, especially for someone that seems relatively young
@@tijlhotte8887 What does not work like that ?!? are you just here to troll me ? There is a 1 in 12 chance that the cube is solvable from a randomly rebuilt cube.
Damn, I remember being both obsessed with LEGOs and Rubik's cubes when I was younger and I spent hours upon hours trying to research on youtube and build my very own LEGO Rubik's cube, but to no success. I thought that it really was impossible as no one had ever done it before. 8 years later you've proven me wrong. This is absolutely awesome.
I am the being who has the amazing talent -- this type of video has to do more with having a lot of patience, but I wouldn't have the patience for that kind of stuff...
I remember trying to build one of these based off a Google image like 7 years ago and giving up after not having enough pieces for two corners. What leaps and bounds have been made since then, excellent design!
I’m a 65 year old woman new to Legos and I can’t even tell you how impressed I am at people’s skill in creating structures like this. The fluid movement of the Cube is awesome!
It’s amazing that this is even possible this should be a Lego ideas set I would definitely buy this and the best part is is if you can’t work out how to solve it or throw it at a wall it’s fixable.
I agree, submit to Lego ideas, even with the illegal techniques, just to establish himself as the creator before the copy cats try to hijack the idea...
When you just randomly assemble the cube, there's a 1 in 12 chance it will actually be solvable - so stopping after 1 or 2 layers was likely the furthest you could have gotten anyways ;)
So, I think I understand the issue. The core isn't as found as it should be, so considering a quality of typical Rubik cubes design, you must come up with two improvements: one, make the mechanism more circular. Two, make it springy. Typical speed cubes are loose but springy, so if you can find some perfectly sized springs it will allow for some play. Obviously corner cutting is out of the question but something to make it looser.
that was a bit hard to follow, but I think that's right. when I try to turn it, sometimes pieces will jut out a bit, so either I need to make sure all the pieces line up when not turned (magnets) or I stop the jutting pieces from prohibiting turning (curved corners on the 2x2 plates)
@@puzzLEGO The magnets may be another challenge because with such precise turns needed (due to the pieces not being ROUNDED), the magnets would have to be pretty strong, not only to make the cube easier to turn but also to compensate for the (potential) plastic thickness, as I am not sure if you would need to make any changes to the piece design to account for the space necessary to MOUNT the magnets into the cube pieces. In standard speedcubes, the gap between all magnets is usually less than 0.15mm of plastic, this is so that SMALLER (standard) cube magnets work normally. However, with LEGOs, technically there doesn't need to even be a gap. It would be pointless trying to make the magnets "embedded" inside of the cube pieces, as that would likely only pose additional challenges. So "mounting" the magnets to "indents" in the sides of the cube pieces may be easier, depending on whether you would want to use GLUE or not to achieve this. --- However, I am only speculating, and it is unclear as to what exactly you are against doing. For example, implementing a CLICKING MECHANISM, instead of magnets, would likely require unorthodox lego-building methods. At the least, moving parts. At most, a bunch of metal beads and tiny springs with drilled holes to house the system.
9:10 Randomly assembling Cube from pieces is a bad idea. There's very little chance that it'll be solvable after it. You should've assembled it with all colors in place and then scrumble it manually.
@@wxbrainiac nah, it’s time saving I’m talking about. I meant those who can solve a 3x3 cube in under a minute easily (it’s not hard if you know the method, really) the most time consuming steps are assembled the pieces.
Definitely, lego isn't just scale models that work to a fashion. Mechanical science should be a big proponent of their model making. Lego should do the whole Rubiks range of puzzles, and other puzzles too like the sliding puzzle with 15 pieces in a 4 X 4 pattern.
Given enough time Lego will eventually become bloated with enough speciality pieces that anything will be possible - it just depends what scale you want it at. /s

It's people like you who impress me every single time I see something like this. If Lego were to design a Rubik's cube themselves they'd probably just design new pieces to make it simple, whereas you really put a lot of thought and effort into this ❤️
I used to be obsessed with rubiks cubes 3 years ago and tried to make one from legos. None of the tutorials were real and never were real or 100% lego. Ive finally found one with the list of the real legos!!!!
Why don’t you try using circular colored plates instead of square? You’d have to make the plates under neath circles as well but hey, no corners for the pieces to catch each other on!!!
Looking at the design there are a lot of places where curved edges would not be possible. Also, even if you could make it all with circles it might not be any better, it would probably be too sloppy when turning. The most practical option if you really wanted to improve the turning would be to sand a small curve on each of the corners
Potential improvement: Instead of the 2x1 tiles, use the new "35480 : LEGO Plate, Round 1 x 2 with Two Open Studs". This would prevent the corners of the 2x1 tiles from locking up
The fact that you were able to re-design, build, and fit this into a better structure almost makes the idea of "solving" the Rubik's Cube lesser of an achievement haha
try using 3x3 plate pieces for each piece of the cube. so you would end up with a 9x9 on each face of the cub, but individually having 9 tiles on each side that is a 3x3. This I think would give you more space to work with a more circular and flowing design to actually have a better locking mechanism and smoother turning. or you could go even larger, but each time its larger the more ridiculous the size. but i think this is incredible
Make it bigger. Won't be the same size as a regular cube but it would certainly give you more space to make the inner working more solid, tightly fitting, and in the end make it run smoother
Remarkable bit of engineering and it looks so stable this time! Question as I love looking at my UA-cam stats for videos! What was the reach for the first 24 hours and then 7 days if you don’t mind me asking?
Yeah I got 50k on the first day and 900k in a week. The click through rate has been dropping to about 5% probably because of the wider audience but I’ll change the thumbnail soon to see. The reason it did so well was the average view duration, which was about 4 minutes (mostly I get 2 minutes 30 seconds lol)
@@puzzLEGO cheers Puzz for that! Yeah the reach will drop when it’s shown to none lego lovers but it’s done great! The thumbnail pic just stood out so well! I’m not surprised at the viewer retention, I don’t think it matters how good the video is people naturally skip! My tug of wars usually average 70% but the click rate now has just dropped on them. Too much of one thing. Anyway thank you again! Keep it up :)
Hands down one of the best Lego creations on the web! You did a great job and 7 years ago I've never thought a Rubik's cube of this size could be possible. My 12x12 sized 3x3 was quirky and way too big. Excited to see more of you and keep up the great work!
Literally your happy spamming is every lego builder when they are stuck on the same thing and finally figure out the mechanism love those moments in building 😂❤️
I would like to appreciate that you colored the cube accurately to a real Rubik's Cube, including making sure blue was opposite green, red-orange, and white-yellow.
I finally got all of the pieces for mine, based on your prevoius design, and /when/ i can get it to be assembled, it instantly falls apart when i go to turn it. I'm SUPER looking forward to building this version of it! Super awesome work! Love it!!
thanks! the old version was absolutely terrible, this one I can actually sell with confidence that you won't be disappointed. a couple of tips: 1. if the cube feels too tight to turn, slide the tiles on the edge pieces just a very very small amount toward the centre. this will also stabilise the 1x2 tiles from rotating 2. check for stuck pieces before turning, this is the main issue that I need to fix in this cube. if there's a stuck piece, you might have to manually unstick it otherwise the cube should work much better than the old one lol
@@puzzLEGO My biggest problem with it is that the 1x2 tiles in the inside portion of the edge pieces, end up sliding around, jamming the cube. I was able to make a checkerboard pattern though!... once. ;D Still.. cheers, mate, this is an amazing accomplishment!
@@yorgle yeah don't worry there's further improvements to come, It's still not good enough for lego ideas. interesting that those tiles slide, maybe I just treated it too fragilely
that's just amazing man. This second version was definitely better, the mech , the design , and the color congrats on 90k! in just a few days you'll be in 100k in no time with your creations
I was going to post this same thing. Glad I read the comments first. I used to have an older cube that was pretty worn, and if you worked it quickly sometimes the corner cubes would flip by one and you wouldn't notice till you got to the end. Thankfully I have a much better cube now.
Years ago when I was a child like 8 yrs old or smth I wanted to build a lego cube, but just a one colored cube, and not rubiks cube (flat plates on each side tho, so not just a 3x3x3 thingy out of those 2x2x2 pieces). It took me longer than I expected, about 3 hours, probably because I was a child and for children, even if they like Lego, even building a cube more complicated than they think. Next day I visited it him before we gotta go somewhere and I showerd it to him and his mom asked us if we wanna build such for him too, i just thought no way we build this in 30 minutes, when it took me 3h
For the problem with the pieces, they get stuck on each other: Wouldn't it be a lot easier to use round lego panels instead of square lego panels on the outside?
That Might be helpful to the cube's speed but under the colored pieces the part are square so this idea with the round Lego doesn't make sense unless PuzzLEGO decides to make better design
3:52 Ah, I see I'm not the only one that discovered that viable piece combination... Though the creations I built, myself, were er... not for uses as practical (if you can call it that) as a Rubik's Cube...
Have you thought of some of those smooth curved pieces in there to make a perfect omni circle for the inside so no matter which way you turn it it’s always a circle in the middle?
I don't know which smooth curved pieces you mean, but yeah there are actually 3 circles in the cube so no matter which way you turn it it stays interlocking

I would have quit in 2 minutes. Your dedication is incredible.
it took a lot of patience
This would be an awesome LEGO ideas set
I think so too! I just need to improve some of the design first
Also, to make it look like a speed cube you could put round 4x4 plates in the middle of each color
Hands down one of the best Lego creations on the web! You did a great job and 7 years ago I've never thought a Rubik's cube of this size could be possible. My 12x12 sized 3x3 was quirky and way too big. Excited to see more of you and keep up the great work!
Thanks, appreciate that :)
"Mom,i want to have a Rubik!"

Literally your happy spamming is every lego builder when they are stuck on the same thing and finally figure out the mechanism love those moments in building 😂❤️
As someone who is in love with both Legos and rubiks cubes, this just made my day
This is the best lego Rubik’s cube design ever!!!
This guy can even make a living robot out of lego probably. Respect for this!
I mean spike, minestorms and nxt exist
I would like to appreciate that you colored the cube accurately to a real Rubik's Cube, including making sure blue was opposite green, red-orange, and white-yellow.
4:02 I literally thought this was a real knock and freaked out because it comes from right behind 😂
The mad lad did it!! That is so impressive!! Even made a tutorial!! That’s amazing!! definitely worth a sub!
thank you :)
I finally got all of the pieces for mine, based on your prevoius design, and /when/ i can get it to be assembled, it instantly falls apart when i go to turn it. I'm SUPER looking forward to building this version of it! Super awesome work! Love it!!
thanks! the old version was absolutely terrible, this one I can actually sell with confidence that you won't be disappointed. a couple of tips:
1. if the cube feels too tight to turn, slide the tiles on the edge pieces just a very very small amount toward the centre. this will also stabilise the 1x2 tiles from rotating
2. check for stuck pieces before turning, this is the main issue that I need to fix in this cube. if there's a stuck piece, you might have to manually unstick it
otherwise the cube should work much better than the old one lol
@@puzzLEGO My biggest problem with it is that the 1x2 tiles in the inside portion of the edge pieces, end up sliding around, jamming the cube. I was able to make a checkerboard pattern though!... once. ;D Still.. cheers, mate, this is an amazing accomplishment!
@@yorgle yeah don't worry there's further improvements to come, It's still not good enough for lego ideas. interesting that those tiles slide, maybe I just treated it too fragilely
OMG, it felt like the door knocking sound was on my real-life door (I'm talking about "FBI open up" scene)
lol sorry if it scared you, I got scared the first time I heard it
I GOT A RESPOND FROM A UA-camR FOR THE FIRST IN MY LIFE/ALSO A HEART
Designing this by trial and error is insane
that's just amazing man. This second version was definitely better, the mech , the design , and the color
congrats on 90k! in just a few days you'll be in 100k in no time with your creations
You can't just assemble the cube in a random order. Chances are it will be unsolvable.
Yep, I realised
Well, it is Lego. Solve it until the last layer then Lego it to fix.
"Don't tell me how to live my life."
Hands down the best LEGO tutorial creation of the decade! 👏👏👏
I was going to post this same thing. Glad I read the comments first. I used to have an older cube that was pretty worn, and if you worked it quickly sometimes the corner cubes would flip by one and you wouldn't notice till you got to the end. Thankfully I have a much better cube now.
Considering the weird collaborations Lego has been doing lately, such as IKEA and Adidas, I could imaging seeing an official version of this.
AWSOME! now i just need to learn how to solve a rubix cube and how to spell😅
For the problem with the pieces, they get stuck on each other:
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to use round lego panels instead of square lego panels on the outside?
That Might be helpful to the cube's speed but under the colored pieces the part are square so this idea with the round Lego doesn't make sense unless PuzzLEGO decides to make better design
7:19 the way u assembled the cube is similar to that of solving the cube using the beginner's method
Yep, I use beginners method lol
I miss to build a Lego art. Because of this video. Not only in Cube. Nice Development of Lego Cube
Fun fact: when you put together a 3x3 randomly, there’s only a 1/12 chance it’s actually solvable.
Edit: Nevermind, you knew that.
Impressive! Magnetic then?

3:52 Ah, I see I'm not the only one that discovered that viable piece combination... Though the creations I built, myself, were er... not for uses as practical (if you can call it that) as a Rubik's Cube...
THIS THING IS AMAZING WOW
I like how he made a cube better than the Rubik’s brand completely out of legos in just a couple of hours.
8:51 "so you can see the circular shape of the cube"
hwhat-
Technically it's an octagon but close enough
Have you thought of some of those smooth curved pieces in there to make a perfect omni circle for the inside so no matter which way you turn it it’s always a circle in the middle?
I don't know which smooth curved pieces you mean, but yeah there are actually 3 circles in the cube so no matter which way you turn it it stays interlocking
