The pizza one
well I got one of these sets practically free! I bought a bin bag of lego for 5 pounds at a charity shop and turns out the trading post was in there and lots of other sets including some aztec sets and a really old system floating cargo boat!
yellow castle
Yellow castle for sure
Great video, and good question.
Fortunately, even as a Lego City builder/modular collector (albeit NOT completist), none of these sets are must-haves (although there are other now expensive sets, like the Ghostbusters HQ, that I wish I hadn't missed out on), but of the 20 sets featured in the video, I think #15 The Monster Fighters Haunted House is the most appealing. It looks great, would go well in a Lego City, and the minifigs look fantastic.
The worst thing about having a surprisingly valuable set sitting in your backlog is that it becomes really hard to justify opening it up to build it.
Good point. I'm just now starting to notice that with my own backlog of sets; a few are 7+ years out and still mint in the box.
Remember it is meant to be build, also you probably can get the parts cheaper than the sets.
If wanting to build, sell the new in box on, buy used set. Use diffrence in cost to buy more legos
And you’ll probably bi hit with a pang of guilt
my dad actually had the yellow castle set
of course, it is all over the place, but it is a pretty good example of how old the set is
Yeah I had the OG Lego Hogwarts express... But it's also in all it's pieces but I should still have the box for it.
I think my friend said that his dad has og castle set though I may be wrong
I've still got the box for the castle, but the bricks are scattered through the family lego.
@@TCHorwood-xq7mw I have the exact reverse. No box but the pieces are all together in one bag with the instructions
I would for for the Imperial trading post.
The raised baseplates and old Pirates theme always fill me with nostalgia.
I have just the special raised baseplate from that set, because my childhood best friend had 3 raised baseplates and decided they were too difficult and annoying to build on so he put them in the recycling bin. Thankfully, before the recycling truck came, I was at his house and mentioned that I though raised baseplates were cool, so he dug them out of the recycling bin and showed me them, letting me take them home. I still have them to this day... In addition to that Imperial trading post baseplate, I have one that's the same shape but green with rock printing (I think it's from a castle set) and a mountainy one with a stream running through it, which I think came from an Adventurers set.
My friend was right, they are difficult to use well, but I still think they're cool lol.
Wow, I have one of these sets, which I played with during my childhood, somewhere stored at the attic of my parent's house. Kind of crazy to think that it is now worth more than a thousand dollars.
whelp, time to go find it
Most of the time, it's the box that earns the money.
I think that most people agree that the majority of LEGO sets are surprisingly expensive
dont even get me started on the sets with special animal molds (im looking at you jurassic world)
9:24 i think i have that one or at least a similar one but I don't know if it is still complete, as it was my father's originally.
I like it how Lego sets have a age requirement but yet Lego is for everyone
I remember going the opening of the Lego store in Amsterdam in 2017/2019 (dont remember the exact date). For their opening, they had a deal with which you'd get an additional set if you'd spend 100, 200, 300, etc. I spend 160 there, and originally would get the 100 euro extra, but since they ran out of those, I got a limited edition christmas tree (40338), which was non-purchaseable at the time. I love it and I put it on display every christmas. Wonder how much it's worth now...
Titan Toa Mata Nui costs way more than Takanuva, mostly due to the rare Pearl Gold Mask of Life that it comes with. Most people just buy bootleg versions of the set, just to have the iconic mask in that color as the original set is stupidly overpriced.
Id take either the first Castle or the Town Square (with Castle) sets if I could for free. The latter is basically a nostalgic trip to the countryside when Iw as a child. A bookshop, chippy, and picturesque ruins to walk around? That sounds like a right good day that does.
i love these vid, and get a lot of enjoyment out of them. they deserve more likes
Definitely the monorail. I've wanted that thing since I was a kid, and it was still available in stores. The castle would be my second pick, not only because it's such a piece of Lego history, but because it'd be cool to have a set two years older than I am. Edit: I'm actually not that interested in the Automatic Binding Bricks, as I'd be afraid to play with them, due to them not being made out of ABS, but a less durable plastic.
The issue with CA bricks is they warp. They are nearly as durable as ABS, but the warping means they don't always fit together as nicely. As long as you don't try to force them you can built with them no problem.
Hey, that "Galaxy Commander" set is one my dad gave me with the rest of his collection when I was like, 6, but it fell victim to the bins, it should be among the easier sets in them to rebuild, though... wait for $3000 for only like new?! Good thing we've kept these bins around! Guess I might rebuild it over the summer.
6:38 POV lego ocean gate set 💀
If I knew that Bionicle was going to be worth quite abit now, I would of bought one or two back then!
Still got my Takanuva iridescent mask on my bookshelf. Truly a great set/theme
A recently retired set that's also surprisingly expensive is the TIE fighter pilot helmet, it's now 200 dollars and rising
I found a sealed Lego technic Star Wars episode 1 Destroyer Droid (droideka) in my dad's things while looking for something in storage at my parents. We looked up the price and found it was worth $250 -$300 still in the box, my dad still said I could keep it. Thanks pops, love you. It's now proudly displayed on a shelf still in box, I can't bring myself to open it. They're about $80 or so open so if I really want to build one then I'll just buy it used.
Nice, I remember seeing that set in the back of instruction manuals and thinking it looked so cool.
@Thinginator5000
Dude, it looks awesome. It's folds down Into a ball and then rolling it will activate a push rod that makes it flip up into its standing Droid form. It's really neat. There's also an alternate build in the instructions to make an AAT battle tank.
I am still kicking myself over the fact that I could have bought a nearly complete Futuron Monorail for a somewhat OK price many years ago and didn't jump on it :(
I do however own (used and mixed into my collection although I still have the instructions) the Haunted House and the original Arkham Asylum.
The carousel wasn't rereleased in 2017, it was a new set.
I would want the cafe corner set
just discovered this channel and really love these videos. I remember owning a few of these, but mostly looking at them in the catalogs, when I was really into LEGO in 2002-2009. First set ever was Ewok Attack (7139), still have both Ewok minifigs.
Wow, I never would've guessed that there was a LEGO set out there for a piece of pizza that was trending in the thousands. That is wild. 🍕
I’d like to see you talk about the short-lived 2008 theme Speed Racer
GREAT LEGO VIDEO SPITBRIX 20 EXPERIENCE LEGO SETS
My grandmother has some of those automatic binding bricks, neat.
10:00 My local lego-store, which is quite small, has that set on display
I have the Imperial Flagship set, built with box/instructions and it's worth around 800 dollars (over 1000 new in box). Crazy to think I have an 800 Lego set sitting on my shelf.
I've still got my old Takanuva somewhere, but I would not mind a second one, hehe.
Amazing video! I personally love the pizza one and I love your videos. Also first!
i love watching people go actually go insane over the funny plastic bricks
Pair the shinkai 6500 submarine set with the Titanic set and you've got one hell of a moc
i had the yellow castle and the black castle but it broke.... and i've used the piceces or most of them but i could put them back to it's shape.
might wanna switch Takanuva around for Karzahni, Takutanuva, or Toa Mata Nui. Originally 50 moneys and now about 2000 each.
My dad actually owned a yellow castle - he and his family lived overseas when he was growing up and I think they got the set in Norway. His parents kept most of his Lego after he moved out and got married. Now my gparents live in Texas but they ended up sending the set to my aunt who has young kids now. Though I do remember playing with the set when visiting my gma and gpa - little did I know I was playing with a $10000.00 set
Best Lego UA-camr ever
I am one of the lucky ones who has the LEGO Coca-Cola iFountain. But there is a catch to it. It is partially glued together so you have "3" large parts that need to be put together. The stickers are not the best quality and yes they have to be customized if you want them on.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing those details!
@@SpitBrix Hii love ur vids
I won't lie... I made a sound like I had just had a stroke as soon as I learned that my carousel set (from the '09 run) could currently be worth $1k.
I have the ucs millennium falcon
pls more star wars blind bag videos love them
If I ever had the chance to get one of these lego sets for free, it’d be the imperial trade post.
Bro thank you so much I have the old legos in a old box of legos!!! Thank you so much!!!
Any idea what a used classic space Galaxy Commander with the original box is worth now?
I'd want the Cafe Corner, personally.
I think I remember building the old Eiffel Tower when I was really into Lego I got it from my aunt as a birthday present. If I remember correctly, I still have in my room and I will never be selling it.
Love the vids
Thank you for sharing your video about 20 surprisingly expensive LEGO sets! It's always fascinating to see which sets have become valuable collectors' items over time, and I was surprised to see some of the sets on your list that I wouldn't have guessed would be worth so much. It just goes to show how much value LEGO sets can hold, both in terms of their playability and their collectibility.
oh my gosh, i had one of those older bricks and i dont know were it went caus i thought it was off brand!
Loved the video so I dropped a like😉
Great video
Really cool, I have #19 6277 Imperial trading post, I bought every pirate set in 89 and 91 when i was young, just been reassembling my 45 sets i have that have been in storage tubs while i was in military some cool stuff complete with books its been fun
I bought a bin of Legos at an antique shop. I a few of those monorail peices.
I owned a takanuva. Then my mom did all the bionicles away to charity. Im still mad.
Every LEGO set out there right now lol
Love the video, cheers. However, let all remember, that whatever these sets are on sale for, nothing has any monetary value beyond what some sucker is willing to pay for it. There really is no spoon :)
I’ve got that Bionicle along with the one that’s combined with him to make the larger one. Used they seem to be listed for £200-400 together.
Looking to sell so see if I’m offered that much in a collectible store near me.
As someone who's sold collectibles to stores before, trust me, you'll be lucky to get £100-150. Those stores are all about profit and will buy it off you for as little as they can get away with so they can turn around and sell it for £200-400 like you say they're worth. That being said, you never know until you ask, so go for it.
2:46 and I bet if you just wanted to have the set in general, it would run you like $50 to buy just the parts off bricklink or smth
It has a unique piece
I would have gotten one of those Haunted House sets if I had had the funds, but nope, didn't have a decent enough job back then.
The yellow castle was released in America in 1981 with the set number #6075 instead of #375, I know as I have two of them on my shelf one with it's original box and instructions.
I have the Takanuva Set, restored it mostly but now I can't find Takanuva and the glitter avohkii mask
I have a few original plastic bricks! I didn’t know until now! Now just to find them in my mass pile…
7:43 I HAVE THIS ONE I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS RARE OMG
SpitBrix been watchin my videos 😏
It's amazing though how the packaging can make the set more expensive. It probably took lego less than 2 dollars to make
I was able to pull a market street set for 1300 personally. It makes me happy to know im one of only a few :)
I would definitely take Arkham Asylum. That is one of the last original Batman sets that I'm missing.
I saw a lot of stickers in this video, and that made me wonder. Are there any expensive sticker sets from Lego? Things that are really hard to find or ridiculously big stickers?
So what you’ve just told me is that if I never drink coffee I can afford to buy every Lego set
The ultimate collector’s. Millennium. Falcon
9:17 So, where's the link?
The iFountain does havr a unique part. Well, unique part in a color.
The Inverted Slope 2 x 1 x 3 in dark gray only appeared in that set (part no. 2449).
My heart sank to hear that the takanuva set (the only one on this list I own) is worth so little if I were to sell it.
yeah, most of my rare sets I've opened. : (
@@Brick687 I didn't even know that the set was rare when I bought it. You don't think about that sort of thing as a kid, you know? You just want to build the model and play with it.
Dang the most I’ve spent on a set is $100, now I just feel overwhelmed
Ever since the price increase in august every set feels surprisingly expensive
Looking for any good online stores to buy Mixels. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Great videos! I always look forward to your content.
OMG! I have the Imperial Trading Post at my parent's house!!!
I love your videos
omg my grandparents had automatic modular bricks or whatever theyre called, now they’re both gone and i have zero idea where they’re at, what the heck
The pirate lego set.. my older brother had that i am going to search for those figs and parts
I would probably have I don’t know just all of them and also why couldn’t they just use makes a castle out of the same color as their weapons
Like why?
I have a bunch of pieces from the motorized Hogwarts Express set. Some windows, bricks, and some figures too. How do I know that? After watching your videos, I realized I conveniently had the front round piece, with the printing. Also I remember that brown owl. Also got about 2 other bricks I can confirm are from the set, a few more printed ones, and of course a bunch of other same colored ones. Glad my mom bought that toat of random Lego pieces for the 20 dollars she did back then.
Sadly L + no dementor
Not giving up on a dream of completing my LotR collection.
Can u give me a Jay ZX😂😂😂
Jk, I really enjoyed the video!!!
Now that i think i would want the Ship Sunny or Goingmerry and the characters from One piece anime
At least the quality of these sets make the prices seem semi reasonable.
I find your question at the end very bizarre. It's bizarre because of all the sets on this list that I would be interested in, I already own all of them. And most were gotten on the primary market when they were new. If I had to pick one to get for free, I'd go with a nicer version of the 1949 700/1.
This hurts… i have the old momorail setaying in pieces, been trying my best to collect them all, got about 60% of the pieces now, and i believe i can get up to 70%
I need some help when it comes to price
Old collectible stuff is expensive, how surprising.
I have Market Street. I think i can get back $1300 real quick. XD
wait, I go to comic con! my boy!
Probably careacell looks really cool
One threat I would love to receive for free would have to be the classic space monorail
Might just sell my Parisian Market now. That is, if I can get it back together 😔
"which one would you have for free" wonder if my sister will part with her original motorized Hogwarts Express 😂
Hey spitbrix I won a giveaway on your last whatnot show and when the package got here it was empty and there was a sticker saying that the lego was not in the package when they got it and I was wondering if you might know what had happened to it
Your trying to lie to him so u get free stuff
id like the carousel set
I have the yellow castle set from my dad when he was a kid but im sure theres stuff missing🥲
0:31 isn’t that from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
6:45 one guy on instagram have this set or just box idk
To be honest with you I would really like the Lego factory set😅
