Ann and Nancy Wilson are indeed sisters (Ann is the oldest) 🔥 Freakin' love Heart ❤ So many recommendations I can throw out there for them, but in all honesty, I hope you check out their tribute to Led Zeppelin with Stairway To Heaven. It's just magnificent. Seriously lol. Thank you for this reaction John! Take care ✌
John, I love Heart, and would highly recommend their performance of Stairway to Heaven that took place at the Kennedy Center Honors Led Zepplin. It is amazing! They are sisters, by the way.
The way I clicked on this video SO FAST! One of my favorite reactors checking out one of my favorite rock groups?! Hell yeah! Heart is freakin' amazing and yes, Ann and Nancy Wilson are sisters. They still play and sing together now. Ann has, arguably, the greatest female rock voice to ever exist. Her vocal range is INSANE. I loved seeing you enjoy this. You should also watch "Magic Man". Same era, same vibe.
@@JohnReavesLive I'm not even sure it's debatable -- she IS the best female hard rock singer we've had. Have you seen the new Disturbed video she duets with Dave Draiman on? She's still great.

Ok this is the only non-BTS vid of yours I’ve clicked on…. Because Heart is AMAZING. Love Ann and Nancy so so much. If you are unfamiliar with their work you have to get into it.

The keyboard could have been something like the old moog synthesizer. Used in the late 60's and a bit into the '70, if I recall rightly. They didn't have auto-tune back then. Pure talent

This band is incredible, the more you listen to them the more you fall in love with them. Their genre abundant (Rock, Jazz tunes,Pop) just to mention a few is magical journey. Thanks so much for this treat!!
""It looks like they are playing the song"".... HUH? There was no voiceovers here, dude. No autotune. THEY ARE PLAYING THE SONG LIVE. This was the real thing. Yes, they are sisters. Two extremely talented women. This isnt'a piano btw... it's a sythesizer... he is simply playing both at the same time. This isn't the live audio on this clip, it's the studio recording dubbed onto it. The live audio to this clip is on a youtube video titled "HEART Barracuda - Live, 1977" on a channel called Tripwire
The edge in Ann's voice came from the personal experiences that inspired the song. Their first label ran an ad implying that the sisters were close in perverted way. Then, after a show, some radio guy came up to Ann and asked how her "lover" was doing, which quite rightly ticked her off when she realized he was talking about Nancy. Still angry, she wrote the lyrics in her hotel room that night.
While Heart is from Seattle, they are also heavily tied to Vancouver. For various reasons, industry resistance to a female fronted rock band, the draft, they relocated to from Seattle to Vancouver, a more accepting climate, and recorded out of Mushroom studios.
This is the recorded audio and the live video. The live audio version is out there, and it's different (naturally). I've heard the single eleventy-billion times and also watched reactions to the video with the live audio. If you watch Ann's mouth very closely, you can see that it doesn't exactly match the audio. They are AMAZING in the live version, as well! It's so fun to hear how Ann does the phrasing and fillers live, and it doesn't have the echo and stuff added to her in some places.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them in concert 7 times through the years and each and every show was as good as the first. I’ve seen many rock and metal groups including most of the big names and I can’t say the same about any other band.
The greatest thrill! For a female lead vocal to be a key introduction to rock and roll for me, Ann Wilson. Heart is a standard in the rock and roll genre!
IMO, a top 10 all-time female vocalist. At 62, the sisters were part of the Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin. She was still kicking out killer vocals, blowing the roof off.
I was in high school when Heart's first top ten song, "Magic Man", came out in 1975, followed by "Crazy on You" and then in 1977, "Barracuda". Barracuda put me in my car late at night flying down the freeway. Also. being with friends with our air guitars.

Thanks for sharing this stunning classic, John. The main vocalist is Ann Wilson, her sister Nancy plays guitar and sings harmony. I also love their cover of "Stairway to Heaven", hope you can react to it.
The audio is the studio track dubbed over a live performance video. If you can manage to find the live performance, it sounds different, but just as great.
This was a live performance, never synching, but the sound we're hearing is the studio recording. The only one I've ever heard able to come close to this on a cover is Gretchen Wilson.

I don't know what songs you know by Heart, but you have to check all 498 of their best ones😂. I will tell you the best to start with. "Cook with Fire" (not about cooking dinner), "Sing Child," ( not about children singing), "White Lightning and Wine" ( this one is about what it sounds like), "Love Alive". This was my era growing up. Such great music. (Clothes and hair, not so much.😅) Love Heart, and I echo the others - listen to their Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven tribute - just stunning!
The brunette singing lead is older sister Ann Wilson and the blonde playing rhythm guitar and singing harmonies is her younger sister Nancy. This song was the first single from Heart's third album Little Queen, the first for their new label Portrait (a Columbia/CBS subsidiary) after recording their first two for Vancouver, BC-based independent Mushroom Records. "Barracuda" refers to the two labels' execs who went to court over the rights to their then-still-unreleased second album. I'm not a musician or sound engineer, so even 45 years later I can't explain how their guitarist simultaneously plays that keyboard, but the technology used is all analog or acoustic with no auto tuned vocals (not invented yet) or sound compression in post-production. Just a live studio performance recorded and mixed on (probably) 16 tracks of analog magnetic tape. Ann and Nancy are fantastic singers and musicians backed by an equally-talented band. Thanks for picking this song but in the future try not to pause the music you're reacting to. You can always go back and relisten as you dissect different parts of a song. Otherwise, it's a pleasure watching someone younger react to music older generations grew up or came of age with. The 1970s were an especially good decade for rock music, and it's sad you weren't exposed to it as a child the way I was exposed to the jazz and rock music of the 1940s and 1950s that led to The Beatles and Rolling Stones.
